No clue what jailbreaking means.. but me some Android term that doesn't apply to Windows Phones.
If you want to install custom roms on your Spark_W, please read my guide on how to do so. There is no jailbreak processes that will let you hi-jack a current installation for Windows Phone yet.

I was just reading that this is not possible on the Verizon Trophy. The version you are on is the earliest version that works on CDMA phones.
I think Tripping James is correct, as far as I'm aware you can't downgrade it properly yet. Some have tried using the "Release (Team name)" versions for your phone, but they are incomplete and end up bricking the phone.
Your best bet is to wait for DFT team to release a new HSPL or RSPL so that it can work on your phone allowing you to flash a firmware from any other region or wait for a verizon rom to some how magically turn up.
Check out the thread on HSPL by DFT or PM ansar and see if there is anything you can do to help speed up the process of building a custom rom.

First figure out what kind of bootrom you have and go from there
Most of the time it revolves around downgrading the bootrom
and unlocking the bootrom and after choosing a custom firmware

Hey TheXev.
I think I've read your guide and every other guide there is on switching ROMs, DEV unlock and Interop unlocks, but I'm still too nervous to do any of it.
My problem is this:
I NEED my SMS messages exported/backed up.
The only option for doing that, is to install the SMS Backup homebrew app.
I do not know if there is an option for unlocking my phone with which I do not run the risk of losing this valuable data in the process.
Is there?
Is there even an option for a full phone backup without fully unlocking the phone? ...so that I would have that phone backup to restore in case my data is indeed lost when I unlock the phone?

[q] help unroot htc trophy

unlock trophy verizon

Hello, i just bought a verizon htc trophy and i live in Peru, does someone knows a website where i could unlock free?
also, i read when i flash the phone to a custom ROM the phone free it selfs?
To carrier unlock it, you can call Verizon and ask them to unlock the SIM for international travel, but no guarantees.
To developer unlock or full unlock (using either WP SDK for the first or the DFT HSPL tool) the Trophy you need to follow the various tutorials out there.

They have a number for peru.
0-800-50010
If that doesn't work, just use the live chat at VerizonWireless.com

To have the sim unlock you have to call verizon. There isn't any other way to unlock it unless you pick up an aftermarket sim, which I can't help you with. (I don't know, nor know if they are legal in the US.) They might be able to unlock it depending on how long the last owner had it on their plan.
Besides, its a good PDA. Flash the Norkser 8858 rom and follow the steps for CAB updates in the WP7 Development and Hacking forum.

That not quite how windows phones work. Flashing a different rom, only flashes the OS, not the stuff that directly interacts with the Hardware, e.g. the Radio driver. There is only three radios for the Verizon Trophy and they are all from Verizon, so there isn't much to do. The Radio is what controls the SIM locking, and no one has tried decompiling it, afaik. I'm afraid that you either have to contact the last owner or call verizon. Not much more I can do.
You can try and see if its been already unlocked by inserting your SIM, but chances are that it will prompt you for an unlock code. You can get that from various sites online and pay, or try Verizon for free.
