Nexus 4 can't receive Google hangouts message notification

Recently, I found out I can't receive hangouts message notifications any more even I open the app. If i want to see the message i have to logout and login again. It is very annoy.
Before i can receive the message randomly sometimes work and sometimes not working. But since yesterday I can't receive the message anymore.
NB: It works well on iPhone, also on my phone other IMs work well (skype, wechat and whatsapp)
Anyone has the same problem or are there anyway to fix?
Thanks

I would start by clearing cache and data in the app:
Settings > Apps > Hangouts > Clear cache & Clear data
Settings > Apps > Google Play services >Clear cache & Clear data
Then reset the preferences in "Google Settings" and sign in and set the preferences in "Hangouts". If this does not fix the issue, you may need to remove and re-add your Google account to your phone.

Thanks, i just did the first two steps + uninstall hangouts and install again. So that works. Just wondering why? Maybe I install the new version of google play service update manually yesterday?
Cheers

Just bought Galaxy S5 Gold but can't get it work properly

I was running on a Nexus 4 and I just bought a Galaxy S 5 Gold and I'm so excited. Unfortunately, I'm having two major problems.
1- update could not be downloaded due to an error 920 [when updating the existing apps on phone like Dropbox or Chrome!]
2- Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly. [For my gmail account that has my contacts/calendar/drive/keep]
I've searched all over the web and tried everything. I tried:
1- Turn off Wifi, Turn on Wifi
2- Clear Cache - Clear data from Google Play Store app
3- Reboot
4- Reset phone (Twice!) and try again.
and nothing is working. I noticed that if I turn of the WiFi and try to update using the 3G connection, it works properly. The error only appears when I'm connected to WiFi. Keep in mind that I can browse and use the internet normally so the phone is indeed connected to the internet when connected to WiFi.
I'm literally close to tears. Any kind of help will be appreciated !!
Try to clean cache, then remove Google account, re-enable Google account and this should do it. Worked for me.

Enable Google now in lollipop

Running n5 preview build of lollipop. Can anyone help me to enable Google now since I don't live in US?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
I follow the steps in this thread, it's the only method I find to enable google now in android L in these countries that cannot use google now.

Read the first line of the original post...
Google Location services are not available in all countries (which is fine) but Google Now shouldn't explicitly need location services. Location services are not available in my country and Google Now still works with no problems on my Nexus 5 and worked on my Nexus 7 (2013) before I updated to the L Developer preview (using the Play Services - Uninstall updates trick) and still shows me location weather information, appointments, news updates, delivery updates, time to work.home, time to get to the location of my next appointment, etc... all without being able to enable location services. I don't understand why Google would limit their service when it clearly works with no problem but has no problems pushing out beta apps to everyone which clearly have issues (new hangouts desktop app).
The Play Services trick did not work on 5.0 for me either. If I do find a way around it I'll let you know.
UPDATE: Managed to get it working with the following steps:
1. Logged out of Google search app
2. Uninstall Play Services updates
3. Connect to a Free UK VPN (I used this: http://www.bestukvpn.com/)
4. Ask Google to remind you of something and select the opt in to Google Now option
5. Go through the steps to enable Google now.
6. When you get the "This account is not eligible to use Google now" click on search bar and search for anything
7. Open the hamburger menu while in search (click on the menu icon or slide from the left)
8. You will notice that you are not signed in. Select sign in and select your account.
9. Viola you will get the opt in to Google now option again and you should then have Google Now
That's what worked for me. Ask Google to remind you of something to make sure its working. Hope this helps .

Urgent: Unfortunately, Google Play services has stopped.

Hello,
Whenever I am switching on my Location service/GPS to high accuracy mode, I am getting this popup which says "Unfortunately, Google Play services has stopped." And also the GPS is not working either. I am not being able to locate myself on the map. Since I have my exams starting next week and I use Ola/Uber to travel it is really essential for me to have this issue solved at the erarliest.
Please see, recently I also got this message "Unfortunately, CM logger has stopped." Although the CM logger message is not recurring the Google Play Service is a recurring error which keeps pn popping every 5 seconds. It is so irritating. Need a solution at the earliest.

you must have either flashed a custom rom over your current build or must be flashing kernel or so and since then this problem would have come up.... There is a temporary solution to it and then there is a permanent one.
Temporary : Uninstall google play services updates. If uninstall option does not become available then go to security, disable android locator or something like that in administrator options etc.. It is somewhere around in security. You will have to look a bit. Once you deactivate that you will be able to uninstall updates of google play services. Clean data of it. Reboot. Once you reboot, your phone will say some apps require google play services to run. Click on that notification and update Google Play Services.
The termporary solution may or may not work.... It sometimes worked for me but recently has not been working.
Permanent solution, take backup of your data and get back to all stock and before you have setup everything on your phone, flash kernel and reboot. If you are not facing the problem again, then resetup....
Remember, if you take backup of data, and after clean install, try to restore the data, the problem would return with greater magnitudes....
Hope I helped
All the best for your exams....
First clear data of google play services and the apps which stops automatically ....Go to settings>apps>all apps>google play services and clear data.......If this not solves ur problem ..then factory reset

HOWTO: Yotaphone 3 with Google apps [BUGGY]

THIS METHOD IS BUGGY. USE IT WISELY!
Thanks for jan.nowak, and after doing some research, all Google features are working perfectly.
Here is the walkthrough:
0. Boot your device to home screen. If you are using ADB to install, make sure you enabled USB Debugging in Developer Settings.
0a. (Optional) Use ADB from your PC or download APK files to your phone and install.
1. Check the Android version. My version is 7.1.1 (I don't see any difference on this at the moment) [REMEMBER: ONLY INSTALL THE APK THAT MATCHES YOUR ANDROID VERSION!].
2. Download and install Google Services Framework from APKMirror. Make sure you download noarch Android 7.1+ nodpi.
3. Download and install Google Play services from APKMirror. Make sure you download arm64 + arm Android 6.0+ nodpi [Version I used: 12.5.20 (040400-189423146)].
4. Download and install Google Account Manager from APKMirror. Make sure you download noarch Android 6.0+ nodpi.
5. Download and install Google Play services from APKMirror. Just get the latest, but not targeted for 8.0+.
6. Download and install Google Contacts Sync from APKMirror. There should be only one for 7.1.1 version.
7. Reboot your device. Then try to add Google account in the Account settings. It might have sync issue, but few times rebooting and checking out Contact app, it should sync your contact.
Troubleshooting:
1. The contact sync is a bit weird, try to disable/enable the sync options in Account settings and check your Contact app.
2. Gmail should work now, if it doesn't work, try to run
Code:
adb logcat *:E
and see whats the error just after GMail error. If you see j
Code:
ava.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: dlopen failed: "/data/app/com.google.android.gms-1/lib/arm/libgmscore.so" is 32-bit instead of 64-bit
that means you have installed the wrong Google Play Services. Please install arm64+arm version.
How about Google Calendar? I'm unable to sync it. Solutions?
Other apps for e-ink?
I have other issue with phone. I wonder if you found some solutions to those:
1. It seems system it kills an app after a day of inactivity. There is one option that tries to save energy, so puts an app into after roughly 5 minutes after locking the device. Kind of annoying because it was killing massenger/whatsapp's calls. I've managed to switch that off in settings. However, it seems that it still can put WhatsApp into sleep after a day of inactivity. Do you know how to keep apps alive - so, I don't have to check WhatsApp - just in case it was put to sleep.
Off topic:
2. What apps support e-ink display? I can use Kindle for it - which is great - but it would be nice to use more than one app. I use from time to time trick posted by ian.nowak - to use "mirror mode" into e-ink. But it works until you lock the device. So, maybe you can advice e-ink friendly apps. Any tip or trick will be greatly appreciated.
What doesn't work still - the most important dysfunctions:
- email push notifications,
- messenger notifications (and probably notifications from most "push applications"),
- autostart of some apps,
- SMS quite often do not reach my phone.

I see a constant issue with google, the play service is unstable, might be related to the kernel or auto-killing problem. As i do not own the phone, i cant test it very often. Try to reboot the phone might help

- Autostart of app during boot, might need more test first, but seems has no issue woth whatsapp.
- gmail confirmed no issue. Check settings does it has any sync issue, logcat should help a bit.
- sms/messenger/email should be related to the previous issue.

1. Might have a look when have a time. Seems it has a auto-killing issue or disconnection after time.
2. Well, this is weird as they do not create a lot of apps that support e-ink, seems you can only read ebooks and news with official provided apps only. Although i am native chinese, i still dont find them very useful at all. Sadly speaking, the major usage of the screen is just the wallpaper.
