Does anybody know sone work around regarding this? Because its starting to annoy me, have you ever experienced when you are using your device, the battery warning suddenly pops up and says that you must charge already and the battery percentage suddenly changes to 3% eventhough awhile ago there is still 50% left, but when you reboot it chages back to 50%, what could be a possible culprit, this happens a few times to me a day and im tired of rebooting everytimethe warning pos up.
Any advice is appreaciated
Same experience. I posted this a while ago but no solution.

well this isnt an acutal solution but have you tried actually draining your battery down to 3% recently? By doing that you are "calibrating" the battery life sensor and maybe that will cause this issue to occur less frequently?
This happened to me once so I did that and havent had a problem since. Hopefully it works for you!
but how do you power it on if thinks the battery is critical
Somehow if ido a reboot it just goes back to normal..maybesomething is messing up with the battery sensors,i did let it drain but some how it still the same, i had read on a similar thread about a bump charge or something maybe i could try that and lets see from there
on verizon tab SCH-I800 - does the same thing ... mine seems to happen around 33% though. (i thought it was something with the 33% .. since it would drop down to 3%) ..
i think samsung should really push out an update to address some of the glitches in these tabs..
Tried the recalibration thing. Problem still exists.

thats a similar issue i get,. Yes i tried the recalibration charge also and still having the problem, i did a factory reset also and it did nothing.. Im really desperate for some fixes..
Mine jumps from 15% to 3%. Quite annoying, I assumed that it is because it is poorly calibrated and so it doesn't realise its actually critical until its 15%.
I tried calibrating it by running it until it switches off, and then fully charging. However, that didn't work.
If in reality the battery is at 15%, then its a pretty bad software bug.
Maybe deleting the battery stats solves the problem?
I think its getting worse on mine now after a full charge after i remoce the charge around 2min. It says 3% again what the heck?

try to flash it with rotohammer rom JHA/JMC it might fix the issue. My problem with GT was battery draining too quickly but after flashing it's much better now.

I think i sorted it out also by calibrating battery,i removed the battery stats using the root explorer, now im still observing the progress

Not too sure what's the issue but it does sound like a program consuming too much CPU or the battery calibration issue.

I change it again, after a few min it's back too 100% percent again, and the battery decrease each 10s. I restarted and it said 77%. I didn't get it. It is definately the android system. There is another thread here where the samsung rep says they know about this version of android and the battery issue. My tab went to zero yesterday in ten seconds. It took me a long time to get the battery meter to show it was charging again.

yep, i second you bro, if a lot of people are experiencing this then it may be due to some bug or something on the system i think its its definitely not the hardware if it is shame on samsung for manufacturing faulty devices, well lets hope for the update

Has anyone tried calibrating the battery? I just received a Tab for testing and it was used prior. Some battery monitor apps reported less then 12hours available after a full charge. After I calibrated it, i'm getting ~28 hours / moderate use before battery is depleted. What amazes me with the Tab is that when idle (overnight) there is no decrease in battery levels and graphing shows a complete flat line when idle.
I love this device

I have done all of the battery recalibrations suggested here on xda to no avail. The only thing that has helped me is plugging in a portable kennsington battery by usb that tricks the battery indicator and it seems to slow down my battery drain.
Said at all, i have to get use to with it, right???

Try doing a resetting on the tab, and do a full charge, I mean let it charge for 8 hrs continuously.
If it can't work, bring it to Samsung for firmware upgrade (takes about an hour), after which do the same, long charging.
Last option, ask for an exchange with Samsung.
Rooting it has never been my option

If you can let go your tab to them for a couple of days, you can ask them to check on the status of the battery as well.

Hey guys, I was in the same boat (you can see my posts on other threads) and I have tried pretty much everything from flashing rom, resetting, calibrating, and bump charging. Last night I decided to open up the tab and look at the battery, thinking maybe I should buy a new battery to test.
Long story short, I disconnected the battery from the board and let it sit for 15mins before reconnecting. I check every couple hours to see the battery level in android. So far, I only lost 1% for 20hrs in flight mode w/o any app running. I usually lost 20% overnight and would regain that after reboot. So the problem is GONE and the system is reporting the right battery percentage without fake dropping.
I will continue to monitor it and report back, but it looks great so far. Hope this helps other XDA fellows.
Thats actually ive been wanting to do just prick it open, funny though i my problem resolved it self, last night i keep rebooting my tab up to the point it hangs and froze then i left it like that for an hour then i pressed the power button for around 10 seconds to reboot it again, once it booted up it showed the correct percentage, now im still monitoring if the trick went well..

Hi Shinji, it is quite unbelievable that the tab only drain 1% for "20hrs". But it is great, if opening the tab can solve battery issue. Now, I myself encounter some other new problems, after I solved the sudden drop in battery issue by upgrading to new firmware (e.g. 50% => ask me to shut down). Now, no matter how I charge, it will remain 67 or 70%............
Do you have the instruction to open up the tab, or any link which you can lead me too? Thanks.
Hey henrylam do you charge phone whilst on and how long do you charge for before you get fed up waiting for it to move from 70% and remove charger ?

I try both, on and off, sometimes it work sometimes it doesn't. After I have done factory reset, it seems ok for first 3 cycles. After that, the problem surfaced again.
Sometimes, it just stop charging at 65 (curvefish battery indicates) but battery icon shows like 85%. I felt like smashing the Tab and get myself a new Ipad. I am thinking to send it again to Samsung this Friday, and let them investigate for a while (hopefully 2 weeks will be sufficient). Damn it, my wife tab has no such issues. She didn't even do an upgrade on her firmware.

I have this issue on Darky 10.1 (2.6 kernel), 2.3.3
Battery lasts around 10 hours with light to medium usage (its a new original Samsung battery as well).
Does anyone have any quick advice to fix this? Bit under time pressure due to job at the moment and don't have much time to research this. Any advice to fix this easily and quickly?
I had this problem after switching on the “Vorabruf über Mobilnetz“ in the Cache-Settings of Google Maps. Maps was closed, but battery was fast going down. Using XWJVH.

It's been through quite a few cycles.
I think I figured it out.....I think it was Skype. If you sign in the app is always on...it doesn't have an exit feature. There is, however, an app to close it. I used it and got normal battery life today!
We'll see if it keeps working like it should.
So I've upgraded to 2.3.4, (Ficeto.Deodexed.XXJVP) and Android OS battery drain stopped. Now it shows 70% battery usage on display (before it was 70% android OS). I recommend updating your system too
with darky on medium use never had more than 14 hrs )
I've given up for the moment and gone back to Darkys 9.5
Now at least I can get through one whole day and have about 40% left

Are you willing to flash the rom again? or you can try to use the speedmod 15g t11 for the kernel to replace the JVP kernel.
it's said that when you use the USB connection to your PC, you need to reboot it. So this battery drainage will not happen.
In the ROm 2.3.3 JV5 and JV6 for Asia, I do the same to keep the batter alive.
Try backing up everything and then factory reset phone. Generally this happens because of a few unwanted applications excessively using ur processor, in turn draining battery or there may be a malware that stealthily connects itself to the net. This will almost certainly cure the disease. If it doesn't, then there is a serious defect in ur hardware or some of ur system app required for properfunctioning of the phone is corrupted, causing excess pressure on the processor
It is a big problem to everyone, I charge twice per day for this.
Calibrate your battery
Let the battery go down to 0% and turn off
Then turn the phone on, it'll turn itself off again cause battery is low
Keep doing this until its totally 0%
Plug in the charger, charge it to 100%
Turn the phone on
Download SGS Tools from the android market place
Run the app
Go to "scripts"
click delete battery stats
Unplug charger & you're done
battery should be more stable now
go to settings
applications
running services
check what you have in the background
close them down if they're unecessary
I get through the workday with only 10% loss
If you have an really old SIM card, try and replace it with a brand new one. This may also help. I had bad battery run time with two LG Optimus 2x phones (about 10 hours) and not so stellar 20 hours with the i9000. Finally I stumbled over some advise to replace old SIM cards. Since mine was over 12 years old, I ordered a new one. It is not gonna change the world, I know, but it was worth a try .
Hi all, I am facing a strange problem, my phone is switching off automatically indicating low battery. However when I plug in charger battery indicator gives battery more than 50% sometimes close to 75%. I've tried a lot of ROM's mostly based on great work by Marcellusbe CM7.2 Alpha 8.3. Following are the list of ROM's I've tried and faced the same issue
GB:
AOSP GINGERBREAD STYLE ROM
CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC3
Kyrillos' ROM 10.5
Currently Using : Pranjal's ROM
KISADWORX ROM v7.2.1
ICS:
ICS AOSP/CM9 (Alpha)
AOKP/CM9
All ROM's are fast and good, fits my requirement. But this battery off issue is there in all for me.
But battery indicator while charging in power off mode is always always showing battery level higher than 50%.
Help me out here. I need battery backup that can at least work for 1 full day.
Help me. Something is definitely wrong.
P.S. Also tried this with new battery. So no battery issue.

Thanks for the help. Not exactly what I am looking for. Everything isn't always simple as it looks to.
I am posting this after trying all possibilities in past 2-3 weeks.
Same happening with me also. Specially when I am taking pictures or videos.. taking into account the battery is quite old .. but calling time is still moderate.. but gallery/camera are consuming enormous charge,,
I've also had this issue for quite some time with different ROMs. Right now I'm using Kyrillos 9.6 OC for daily use and I don't have that battery indicator jumps anymore. Maybe you can try that ROM to check if it's a software or hardware problem.

I think I have this problem too. Or I'm really paranoid about my battery. I did a factory reset a few days ago, but it was fine before that. Usually my screen is the #1 battery consumer, now Android System is 75%.
Did you update your firmware? I'm running ME2 and had no problems whatsoever before that.
I downloaded "battery stats plus" and the issue might be the "camera test"?
I dont think the firmware updated has something to do with it? Not sure though.

Downloaded that app, and Camera Test shows pretty high on mine as well. About 1,73% though, but with a bit over 5 hours without charging. It's been using my camera sensor 2 hours out of 5.
I think this is a really good case for the experts in the better battery stats thread. They have a special procedure to help you quickly solve the problem.
Read the OP, or if its a multiple post OP read them. It says exactly how to let the phone sit idle (i think I recall its 4 hours) and get some specific info and post it and they will help you narrow down exactly what's causing it but also give a solution.
I have a job interview in just a bit, and am in a hurry but wanted to share that with you.
I have an idea what the problem might be and those guys actually have a really good solution to fix it without having to eliminate anything and just changing some settings.

I think google and samsung apps might be the problem. Tried to open and setup to not use any data on all google and samsung apps. Namely google setting app, samsung hub, samsung link, Keis, etc.
Update them all via samsung hub and possibly download kies air from samsung app store. Was trying to setup them while charging the phone. Location based apps was also turned off for using gps or data. Turned off notifications on them as well unless you do want to be notified.
