So today I switched my Nexus 7 for a new one because off the auto brightness issue and this Nexus 7 does not have this problem, but when I looked in about this tablet it says the build number is JR003S while the lastest factory image is JRO03D.
Does it mean I got an newer build number?

Its good, there is no auto brightness issue so that is great.
I don't believe anything is wrong with one I have now, so I should be able get in recovery later to.
Did you get an OTA update for it?
Sent from my Nexus 7
No not at all, it was on the tablet when I got it, I just unpacked it and look at build number and it was different.
It was already on it, I didnt need to update. The performance is same as the other build.
According to Asus, the latest FOTA - JRO03S will release around late Sept/early Oct....
In fact, all Nexus 7 starting to ship in Taiwan has this build, it includes Asus Keyboard for BoPoMo IME, don't know what else's different...
Why doesn't some kind soul make a nandroid and post /system and boot.img?
I going need return this Nexus 7 to it got an dead pixel.

Can someone who hasn't applied the 2.3.1 OTA let me know what they see under build number? I swapped out my phone today and got a new phone (build date 12/18/2010). I can't apply the OTA and the build number shows test-keys, not release keys......I don't remember this from my original Nexus S. Can anyone confirm what they see pre OTA?
Mine just say GRH55 under build number everything else matches your screenshot.
That's what I figured. Odd getting this out of the box.

Hi Guys,
I got today a Nexus S and it has apperently a Developer Firmware.
It says :
Android - Version
2.4
Build-Number
soju-userdebug 2.4 GRI06B 88106 test-keys
In Fastboot Mode it says :
Lock State - Unlocked
Here´s my question, is it possible to root this Nexus without damage and putting a CM Rom on it?
Thanks for the help!
I don't know where you got your Nexus S at, but OpenSoju is a Rom here on XDA that is at version 0.2.4 right now. I think you phone may already be rooted so no harm in putting CM on it. Here's a link to the Soju Rom:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1080009

Early 2.3.4 builds were labeled 2.4. He got an engineering build that's likely an early build of 2.3.4 - especially looking at the versioning. There was a thread on this a while back and someone at Google listed their email to contact about this (IMEI, location received from) so they could get you on a proper build as the engineering builds will never receive the OTA(s). I actually received one NIB from Best Buy Mobile on a swap from my original device back in December.

I'm sure a lot of us would be very happy to get a system dump.
As for the question regarding being CM7-ready... Yes, sounds like it is. But give us a dump first! Please???
i´ve another stupid question.. did the dump and had already set up a few things like marketplace, google account , facebook etc.. is that stuff also contained in the dump .. because if yes i would have to do a factory reset and dump again
Update:
I love it to ask stupid questions and then figuring out by myself.. seems like i have to do anyway a full reset / factory reset , and make a backup
Gonna upload the image in a few minutes!
Lol. None of your info will be in the dump. You are fine.

Can you force-install the ADB driver to the ME571K device? I recall a few times where the (ADB) device would appear under Device Manager under some name, but wouldn't install on it's own. Manually selecting the ADB driver worked fine though.
Alternatively, if you can put it in fastboot mode, just do that, attach it to a computer, install the fastboot adb driver on whatever unknown device appears, and then temporarily run (I think you can do this instead of just directly flashing it) TWRP on it.
Yes, you can use this to temporarily boot into TWRP. Where "twrp.img" is the name of the version of twrp you have. (or you can rename it to make it easier.)
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
If this is really an ENG model, it would be amazing to get a full dump of each individual partition but I'd be most interested in the bootloader to see if there are any additional fastboot oem commands. Having a package of every partition might help in unbricking some of those people who ran into the emmc issue with the OTA updates recently.

Where is the one with the K at the end? I think maybe the decryption process is different per image as each image has their own stock kernel (boot.img) with decryption.

I manually flashed M update last night before rooting it and I had to decrypt the rom so that root could work. All fine now.

I guess I bit off more then I can chew... I'm really new to rooting and I really want to get in to it. But all I only ever rooted my old nexus 5 and that was extremely simple lol. This new nexus 6p to me feels like you need experience and I don't want to brick my phone. The different build numbers hesitate me. Videos make it a lot simpler for me so I can follow step by step and see what is supposed to happen.

That was the question/concern I have as well. I just got my 6P two days ago and the November security update was pushed to my device. However it shows I'm on the L build and not the M build. How long does it take for an OTA to be pushed to your device? I would assume if M is newer than my phone should get it? It's just weird that I have the most up to date security patch but not the most up to date factory image and IDK why that is. Thanks.
Not every update is for every phone region. If we haven't gotten an 08M OTA there's a reason.
Sent from a 128th Legion Stormtrooper 6P
Saying then if on L build won't get the M? If that's the case if on L shouldn't consider flashing M images?

The last image for the Nexus 7 2013 razor that I see is still MMB29V.
So much for Google being responsive in getting security updates out. I would have thought that after making a big deal out of that mid-March kernel fiasco that they would have fixed and re-released the images for the three devices that they pulled for whatever reason on Monday. These monthly updates while obviously a good thing, there also kind of a pain in the ass. Every month I have to flash the new image, re-root the phone, use Titanium Backup, to go in and delete enough from sys partition, to flash Xposed, followed by flashing my beloved ElementalX kernel. Unless there is some way to streamline all that, a noob like me isn't aware of. Presumably we got just a couple weeks till the May security update anyway. I'll wait.
