I'm using Epsilon Project - ICS ROM on galaxy s3 but Easy UMS does not working as mass storage. Even it mount the card & works fine as MTP except UMS as mass stoare... plz provide help
Are you rooted?
You need to make sure you have busybox installed, busybox installer can be found in the Play Store.
(this question would have been better asked in Q+A forum section, or even better the thread for the app in question)

Yes my phone is rooted & installe busybox 1.19.4 but still same problem...
So your opening the app (without usb connected) hitting UMS button, it should then either give you an error message or tell you that it was successful.....
if successful - plug into pc
if not then tell us what the error message said.
I'v got the same prblem - last version of busybox is on board and tehrs an error sayin "could not mount maby busybox is not installed"...
Same problem on different ROMs...

How would I go about installing busybox? I am trying to run Droid Overclock by jrummy16 but its saying busybox isn't installed.
i tried using 'busybox installer' from the marketplace but upon using it, it says that it can't locate busybox.
whats the best way about installing busybox?
I'm having the same problem. Any help?

I installed it via Titanium Backup. Once installed, hit the "problems" button to install it.
I used the "busybox" app from the market to install the most recent busybox.
i made sure and did:
Code:
adb remount
before trying to install busybox via the busybox installer and it worked just fine.
Worked for me, thanks.

Yea I had no problem using the busybox installer. It may have said it didn't work after the install, but it did. Had to get it going to use OpenVPN.
It was also a newer version than my TB had.

This is a problem with all of the current versions of busybox. The one from the market and the one that Titanium Backup installs do not work on the Xoom. I compiled up a busybox from the source last night and it works with TB. The problem seems to be with the 'find' and probably the 'cp' commands. I talked with Stephen and he is going to release a new busybox installer to the market that should fix the problem.

I downloaded a version last night(? early this morning? it's all starting to blend together ) that has a fix for this. You get a "Green" install this time.
But FWIW, the previous version did at least seem to work, even if the installer fails.

We tried so many versions last night I'm not sure which one he eventually put up. But I know he is working on a new release. If the one in the market doesn't help TB, then the next one should.
Wait- do I understand that someone's gotten TB working; not just "running", but actually backing up more than just those 5 (essentially-useless) databases?
I really want TB working, 'cause I wanna experiment with something in the RUU (well, "SBF" for us) and do not want to have to manually reload everything once I change my OEM lock status.
I think there was just an update like a day ago that addressed compatibility issues with newer devices, or rather, the xoom.

I hope that this thread can be pinned so that we can all be warned about serious conflicts with app updates and versions and some of the kernels and roms we have flashed. Still hoping this thread will be used for solid advice. Please contribute.
Some of these apps/versions are consistently causing problems, including near-bricks.
My first warning is for Xoomers to avoid updating to the 4.XXX version of Clockwork Recovery. This version doesn't "see" our external sdcard, and backs up to the internal sd, and also, prevents flashing from the external sdcard...if you have already updated through Clockwork Mod Rom Manager, you will need to re-flash a good recovery.
Update 6/21-- This is still a problem--do not update to Version 4.XXX of Clockwork Mod Recovery through ROM Manager. If you did, then in RM, scroll to the bottom and flash an older recovery (2.0.2.5 I think) then the newest one pinned to the top of solarnz's thread in the development section.
There have also been problems with the updated busybox and with the binaries that the updated superuser app installs.
Please, can we get more definitive statuses on these two applications?
Please use this thread and add in your own known problem apps, etc. and if possible suggest or link to solutions for others who may be ensnared in these conflicts.
Okantomi is right. This thread should be pinned. I have seen at least a dozen cries for help on Q&A from people that have fallen into these two traps.

Thanks cam30era, you have been one of the people giving the warnings as well.
OK this is a shameless bump to keep the thread visible.
Oh yes, and never flash a .zip file through adb!!!
ROM manager causes so many problems. I don't see the point of it.

It's actually a very useful app in so many ways, but there should be more coordination between the developers...it seems the 4.XXX update sort of treats the Xoom like a phone with only a small internal memory and an external sd card being the only thing called sdcard.
On a tablet, however, we have a large internal sdcard (32GB on Xoom) and mounted to that is our external sdcard (this mount point is one of the reasons that Google is hesitant to OK the external SDcard on tablets--makes for an awkward file structure, I guess). This version of CWM seems to only see our internal sdcard on the root directory and treats it as the external sd.
If this explanation is wrong, those with more knowledge please correct me. I think it's helpful for people to know, in layman's terms, what's going wrong, as it can help them use logic to avoid problems in the future, but I don't want to spread mis-information!
What's wrong with the latest "Superuser" and "Busybox", though?

I think these are either in conflict with the Tiamat ROM 1.0 /and or newest updates missing files (busybox). This was recorded in an ongoing discussion in development (dinomight OP) and I fell victim to updating to a conflicting busybox version. All was fine until I rebooted and stared the dreaded RSD 3 in the face. God only knows how I made it back from the edge...

I installed busybox from the market too, is it safe to uninstall? I was trying to get cifs to work somehow and I ended up installing busy box. The xoom froze and I got the RSD 3 somehow. I kept smashing button combinations until it rebooted. It has been fine ever since.

Wow! Glad you were able to recover! I think that solarnz made a stable version and I think it's in the development section inhis recovery thread.

Long story short :
The busybox wasn't compiled with run-parts. In our rom, the ramdisk used to rely on this for init.d. This has been fixed.
With superuser, the su binary appears to be incompatible. I haven't had a look at this issue yet.

Thank you solarnz. So is the busybox in the market safe to install/update or do you have a link to the fixed version?
As long as you have flashed the rom update 3, you can flash busybox without worrying.

Noob here so try to dumb things down for me!
Ok, so I followed this tut HERE.
I was able to debug it to my android for testing and it worked. So I exported it as .apk and uploaded it to 4shared.com.
Now my problem is, after downloading to my phone, I went to [Install Package] and it said "Application not installed"
What would be the problem and how would I go about fixing it?
Thanks in advance
~Brine
How are you trying to install the app:
connect your device using USB cable to the comp. and run
Code:
adb install <path_to_apk>
on a terminal
Make sure that the app is not already installed as there could be certificate conflicts it a debug version is installed already. If some version is already installed, just uninstall it and try.
Also try enabling Settings > Security > Unknown sources (turn it off after you are done if you are not sure)

Hi, few days ago I bough I9195 and now building my own config. It's brand new so I'm trying to avoid triggering KNOX by flashing custom kernel. One of the missing things is UMS mode on KitKat and I couldn't find any specific method to make this working.
So after few tests I can confirm that scripts from this thread working perfect on stock KitKat. Just open it with Script Manager - SManager with "Superuser" and "Background" options marked.
Scripts could be opened with any other script manager or even ConnectBot as "local host" but You need to add "su" to the script.
If You like to make shortcut use SMWidgets or GScript Lite but 2nd one crashes after running script but still working.
There is a widget on playstore that does it.
But anyway thanks.
Could You give me some link??
