I have found a possible flaw in the design of the phone that might be possible to fix.
The earphone speaker loudness is crap its not even considered loud or above hearing when im listning to music i can hear everyone talking ect ect
now here is the weird thing see if you answer a call or make a call the music cuts off and you have your chat then once you hang up or they hang up
music will then resume but this time it will be WAY WAY better and Sound better and louder, the way its ment to sound.
now if you pause the music then unpause it goes back to this low sounding music again.
PLEASE can someone fix this as its ruining my music listning though i dunno about the rest of you lol
I'm running 3.1 and having no issues at all with headset volume while listening to music. Tried to pause and unpause, volume stayed the same, nice and loud. FM radio has nice loud volume too.
I have the same strange issue... at first I cleaned my in ear headphones (because on 2.9.11 they were louder)
but at the same day in noticed the sound improvement after ending up a call and was very confused :S

try an full wipe an install ARVHD 3.2 maybe it fix your issue
it's a known issue in froyo based roms (stock included), gingerbread released is free of it, and you can buy a app from the market "volume boost", that "fix" it...

Clicks and pops in pandora audio.
this looks like the basic stagefright issue but good lord how long will this go on?
I have tried to disable stagefright but have been unable to do it or tell that i have as the problem has not gone away.
i do still need to do that.
I see so little information on this.
CM7 2.6.35.13 pershoot kernel
It doesnt happen in jango. havent tried slacker.
Doesnt happen in radio time.
only happens on some pandora songs.
Coldplay songs on pandora have it often enough. "Clocks"
this is a tmobile g2. it is running off of 4g.
i have tried bumping the cpu up.
changing EQ settings and lots of searching.
it appears that some phones have this issue and other do not but most appearances of the issue do not have a solid solution.
if there is a solid solution to this i did not see it in a FAQ.
Is there no solution to this? is this still a fight between android and pandora audio format or what is the deal?
I noticed I get choppy audio from Pandora if "Cell Network Audio Quality" in "Preferences" is set to "Normal". After changing it to "High" the audio is clear and sounds amazing in my car!
Aw geese. I am using high quality audio.
The cm7 basic kernel does the same thing. It has done this since I moved off the stock rom to cm 6.
The clicks and pops and not easy to hear. But once I hear it then I think its happening all the time.
Slacker doesn't seem to have this issue.
I use blue tooth a2dp? Stereo head phones and they are working in this mode.
I have had a mobile 6.5 phone a 3g iphone and this g2 with these head phones. The g2 audio in pandora is unacceptable.
Ill use slacker but I like pandora.
And pandora should work.
I do not accept that it is an issue with only my phone.
I think if you listen with right song the clicks are very noticable. Anybody should be able to hear it.

I use pandora mostly in my car with just a hair over 1000 watts total to door speakers and subwoofer. The door speakers have the majority of the power with a 760 watt amp, and I listen to my music loud. I'm sure I would have noticed any clicking and popping. I use a stereo jack though, maybe because you are using wireless it doesn't sound as good.

it doesnt happen with all songs.
But it doesnt happen with slacker at all.
it is something to do with pandora.
I believe the past issues were with the android codec and a fileformat pandora used. I figure that must still be the case.
Not all of pandoras songs use the same file format as i understand it asn i dont hear the issue in every song.
I do hear it as well through the crappy car stereo mini plug input jack i use.
what are your phone specs? are you using cyanogenmod 7? which kernel?
Are you running in high quality audio for pandora.
have you tried it their coldplay songs?
also have you tried using bluetooth stereo headphones.
i dont use the miniplug input jack in my car.
the headphones i use are.
sony
dr-bt22a
they sound fine in pandora on all the phones i have tried that have bluetooth audio that is not broken. Granted a lot of phones have broken bluetooth audio.
I run MIUI 1.7.1, kernel 2.6.35.13-EB-CM7-Streamline5 on my T-Mo G2. Dunno the clock speed but whatever default is, I haven't tweaked it at all. I run Pandora with high quality audio, and I mostly listen to top hits, and electronic style music, not cold play specifically. Also, I don't have any bluetooth headphones, the only time I use Pandora is in my car, and I have a stereo jack input on my stereo.
cm7 nightlies here, I use pandora daily and have never experienced this issue... and I am definitely anal about audio quality.
are you using dsp manager on your bluetooth headset?

Yes i am using dsp manager. sounds pretty cruddy without the EQ.
I always use it. i havent tried it without.
Is there a known problem with the DSPmanager?

not any known problems that I'm aware of, but that would be the first place I'd look to when troubleshooting.
see if completely disabling DSP manager for bluetooth makes a difference.
I'll try a coldplay station (mind you, I'm not a fan. you owe me. ) on the way home today and see if I can pick out any infidelity.
some call it heterosexual gay music...
but what ever.
I think i have tried disabling it.
I dont know. I was really hoping there was some known issue somewhere.
Other songs do it too. in pandora. slacker, which i dont like much, does not seem to have this issue.
it does it without the dsp from what i can tell its just harder to hear but
red hot chili peppers "scar tissue" does it pretty clearly and horribly.
dsp on or off. even tried killing the dps service.
next song was matt kearney "nothing left to lose" and i did not hear it there but i think it is... if i hadnt heard it in the previous song I would not think it was in this one.
maybe i can make a recording of the audio...
Hmm. if i can get to happen from the audio jack as well. it sounded like it was doing it in the car with the mini plug.
Got a question to those who using Poweramp. are you guys hearing static hissing noise while playing mp3 with poweramp? Read it somewhere else said it could be hardware grounding problem, but that's probably wrong because I can't hear the same hiss in the stock music player. But the stock player sound is damn flat when playing music
any help would be appreciated.
I got the same hiss sound in MX Player on one of the custom ICS roms. Can't remember which one. Went back to Stunner.
On any custom rom?

Nope, no poweramp problems here with headphones or with BT connection to car audio. Rooted on stock ROM.

hmm stocked rooted lc1 too :/ guess gotta play around with config.
I have never touched the configuration in poweramp and I have never had the slightest problem, even at + 10db with voodoo louder.

The hissing noise is normal regarding the Galaxy Note. It's there with every player.

Maybe with every player, but not with every note...
Hi, try to disable the direct volume control under settings-> audio engine-> advanced tweaks

As far as I know hardware and software are the same for every note. So it should be there. Naturally, some people won't notice it. That's just the way it is.
That's total BS. I have never experienced any hissing either with Poweramp or stock player. I think there would a lot of very angry Note users if this was the case. I previously used a Rockboxed 5th gen iPod with an ibasso amp and now use the Note as my primary player as the SQ is so good!

Poweramp closes after two or three songs for me every time. It beeps four times, freezes up and needs a phone restart to get going again. Very disappointed after paying for it.

It freezes here too sometimes.. Have to report it to the developers...
But what is wierd is bluetooth audio stutters alot sometimes and nothing can resolve this but a reboot. Changing the music player doesn't help neither...

No hissing here, but i'm using PlayerPro. I used PowerAMP before but i can't remember hearing any hissing.
thx for the input guys. problem turn out to be the dspmanager, i totally forgot it is still there in my note, and still activated with it equalizer. I turned that off and it's all good now. Probably that's the reason I am hearing hiss in poweramp but not in stock player.. :x

Never had the first freeze or hiccup from poweramp, either on my xoom or on my note. Listened to music in my truck today for 4 hours straight (car stereo via BT from note) without any glitches, and that has been my experience with PA for over a year now (incl xoom time). Perhaps try uninstall and reinstall, then if that doesn't work look for potentially conflicting apps... don't think PA is the ultimate cause of your issues.

That happens to me too.
Although, it is more random for me. Sometimes it is after 30 minutes of listening.
I get the beeps though.
Also, sometimes it stutters a bit and then beeps and stops.
At first I thought it was my BT headphones not working, but other sounds come through fine, so it's not them.
Sometimes PowerAmp will still show the pause button (ie, it looks like it's still playing), but if you press it, nothing happens. It doesn't change appearance and it doesn't start playing again, no matter how many times you press it.
I have to force close it through the application manager to get work again.
I only just started using PowerAmp about a week ago and bought the full version because I liked the EQ and the appearance on the Note, but I might have to go back to WinAmp.
I'm on the latest stock ROM, with root.

i see you found it was dsp manager...i've noticed it too..but only in certain scenarios....
i get this when i'm plugged into some USB ports to charge on various work laptops and listening to music...and also some power inverters...but this ONLY happens to me at work when I'm using my note in the truck and charging (as the laptops would be plugged into the same inverter I get the hissing/buzzing sound from if I plug directly into the inverter)....
pretty sure it's just bad ground or dirty power in the work trucks though...
---
@duckettmarc
i haven't experience the closing issue either....i've listened to poweramp for hours on end, hundreds of songs without crashing...where is your media stored? external SD? either way, I would guess either the storage area you have your music in, or your actual music is corrupted....or maybe some instability if overclocked, undervolted, or with the ROM you use...

No its not. Check the according threads discussing the notes audio Chip. As soon as you plug in your headphones and the Chip Starts working there is a hissing noise.

Re-read the according threads, it doesn't happen on every note.
Nothing to do with the M1CN2
I'm having the same problems. The thing is, it only started happening a few months ago when they brought out a major update...

I'm running build 95 of the andromadus test builds and noticed that for some reason when I play music on my phone the sound comes from the earpiece that is used to listen to phone calls and NOT the speaker phone on the back of the phone. Is this a bug or is there something wrong with my phone? And I'm using poweramp but I doubt that makes a difference
Edit: never mind it was a setting in the test build

So I've had my N7 about a week and its almost perfect. The only real problem I'm having is sound. Whenever I'm playing music locally or streaming from Google play, ill get ungodly popping and skips in music playback. It only happens when I'm multitasking, so I know its not a general hardware fault.
I'm currently using paranoid android, latest version. I've tried different kernels, governers and schedulers but nothing seems to fix the issue. Tried disabling DSP Manager and wiping/restoring. It's hard to see how the device can get overstressed while playing music. My Galaxy nexus doesn't have this problem, and its not as powerful.
I've tried researching the issue, but all I've been able to find are complaints about the speaker. I'm not using speaker and have tried several pairs of headphones.
Anybody got any ideas on how to fix this?
