Music plays through earpiece (FIXED) - G2 and Desire Z General

I'm running build 95 of the andromadus test builds and noticed that for some reason when I play music on my phone the sound comes from the earpiece that is used to listen to phone calls and NOT the speaker phone on the back of the phone. Is this a bug or is there something wrong with my phone? And I'm using poweramp but I doubt that makes a difference
Edit: never mind it was a setting in the test build

Sound too quiet, try this.

Hi all,
I've always felt that when playing music on my DHD that it's too quiet, when I've listened to music through my headphones I would say it's acceptable however when I've plugged my DHD into a HiFi or into my stereo in my car I could crank the volume to full control without it been deafening. I happen to find a fix yesterday by accident, I had my DHD plugged into my car stereo and the phone rang, I pulled the audio cable out and answered the phone, when I was done I put the cable back in and immediately I was like WTF just happened now, the music was much louder than what it was before I answered the phone, I would say it was about 30% louder.
I tested my theory by stopping the music and unplugging the cable, plugged the cable back in and started the music, while it was playing I opened the phone and simply dialled any random number and ended the call immediately, when it went back to the music it was most certainly much louder. I've tried it several times now and every time it makes it much louder than what it was before I make a call, I can now no longer turn the stereo full blast as it is simply too loud, just by turning it up to half way I would say it's the equivalent of what it was before when I had it turned up to the maximum.
I'm using Poweramp and I don't know if it's got anything to do with that, I will test it with the built in music player and see what it does. I originally downloaded Poweramp as I thought that the built in music player may be the problem.
i'll repet what you do and post some results... really want a louder volumen in headphones. I plugged my headphone in a Wildfire and it's incredible louder, no talking about an ipod! last week in a party i was ashamed when my friend put off his $50 cell phone and i plugged mine on stereo, so low volume....
wtf, that's true.. really don't understand what the phone turns on!! probably the same thing that volume boost turns on!!
Aha that actually works

Good news, it must be a software bug with the volume control.
works here too.. atleast on poweramp and soundcloud, didnt hear any difference on spotify

let's hope someone let this bug permanently turned on, with no call trick...
Haha! Tried it myself, and it works! Awesome!
I found using shazzam or sound hound while music was playing caused it to go louder. Seems to be when the mic is initialised. Noticed this two days ago

Interesting find.
I've noticed a couple of ROMS which suggest better audio volume by 20%.
For example this one. (Speaker Boost +20%)
So somehow, somewhere the bug or issue has been fixed or improved.

Not really, i'm using that rom right now, and what it makes is improve SPEAKER volume, not from headphone. I made my tests in Android Revolution rom and can confirm that headphone is as quiet as stock rom, and it is improved by the "call trick"!
Thanks for sharing! I was experimenting a bit, and it seems like the simplest way to boost the volume is to make a call while music is already playing. The call MUST connect though, or the volume will revert to normal levels. Tested with Winamp.
Maybe have one of the dev's ask to look into this.
If this is different from the already increased speaker volume output, it probably is a bug that can be fixed / feature that can be 'un-featured'
works fine
I had similar experience with my laptop. When listening a mp3 file, the sound coming out from my laptop seems like no effects, standard sound without bass and treble effect. Have to play a movie file first together and stop the.movie make the song hear with the effect.
I believe this issue coming from my sound driver. Using another OS in same laptop. The sound play normally with no issue.
For our Android, it's about the sound driver too?
well well, i just noticed that in the Android Revolution 4 (leaked gingerbread based), the sound is improved by default, no needing the call workaround, looks like HTC fixed the strange bug for the next version...
i just wanted to share!
edit: if someone could try to confirm it, i'll appreciate! =o)

I had the same problem, go to the Market and download "Volume Ace".
MarkieSA, you're an accident hero.
I noticed sometimes my DHD volume suddenly were loud . If I restart the phone, it will go low . I couldn't find out how to make it loud again until reading your post. I'm using PowerAmp too . I think it plays a role in this case.
Thank you for this great finding.
Really useful little trick for 2.2 users, especially for peeps using stock ROM's without the 20% boost via custom kernels. I had tried some of the volume boost type apps before rooting but all they do is invert the phase of one of the stereo channels. All this does is give you a very tinny mono output which is no use to say the least.

Revolution 3.2 and 3.1 issue, possible fault in the design! EAR LOUDNESS

I have found a possible flaw in the design of the phone that might be possible to fix.
The earphone speaker loudness is crap its not even considered loud or above hearing when im listning to music i can hear everyone talking ect ect
now here is the weird thing see if you answer a call or make a call the music cuts off and you have your chat then once you hang up or they hang up
music will then resume but this time it will be WAY WAY better and Sound better and louder, the way its ment to sound.
now if you pause the music then unpause it goes back to this low sounding music again.
PLEASE can someone fix this as its ruining my music listning though i dunno about the rest of you lol
I'm running 3.1 and having no issues at all with headset volume while listening to music. Tried to pause and unpause, volume stayed the same, nice and loud. FM radio has nice loud volume too.
I have the same strange issue... at first I cleaned my in ear headphones (because on 2.9.11 they were louder)
but at the same day in noticed the sound improvement after ending up a call and was very confused :S

try an full wipe an install ARVHD 3.2 maybe it fix your issue
it's a known issue in froyo based roms (stock included), gingerbread released is free of it, and you can buy a app from the market "volume boost", that "fix" it...

Surround now has major speaker buzz after NoDo

Has anyone else run into this issue? I did the official Nodo update for surround through Zune last night. (Everything on my phone is still stock, and locked). And now I am getting some crazy overdrive when listening to music with the phone speakers. I'm lovong nodo but this sound issue is driving me crazy. Any other surround owners run into this?

I just played a few songs and youtube videos at max volume and cycled through the sound modes on the external speaker, I get no static or extra noise.
No problems here. Although I did use the ROM that football posted :

Great ROM to those who havent tried it. ALL firmware is updated : OS, Firmware revision, Radio software, & Bootloader. And I can now use Hidden WiFi from HTC!
Hmm, do either of you use Htc Sound mixer?

I mean HTC Sound Enhancer.

My phone is fine. I have a Telus HTC Surround with NoDo. Maybe you should try flashing to a previous firmware, and re-updating to Nodo.
i have issues with my sound too.. everything sounds fine only with the fact that it is blasting.
this is my 2nd time updating to the official nodo, and the speakers is still blasting.
i was wondering if they boosted the speakers or something but it seems like a lot of people dont have this issue >.>

NoDo broke all software volume leveling for all models. If you'll notice, volume sliders in games don't work any more.
Maybe that's what it is. I wonder if I should roll back to protect my speakers, or just keep everything turned down to 15.
I'm actually digging around in the registry to see if I can come up with a kludge.
haven't had this issue but try uninstalling htc sound enhancer and reinstalling it maybe?
I have tried that, I don't notice as much of a buzz when it Sound Enhancer is uninstalled but it is still there. And is most definitely back in force on a reinstall.
Regarding the HTC Sound Enhancer using the ROM from football: NO BUZZ at all. Crystal clear!

[Q] DSP Manager on Andromadus Audacity Beta 1

Argh. The 10 post thing is killing me
Has anyone had issues with DSP Manager and Andromadus Audacity Beta 1? It's by far the best ICS ROM I've tried...working camera, camcorder, all audio interfaces working, fast, etc etc.
In CM7 I had really good results with DSP Manager, which hadn't been working in some earlier Andromodus versions, but supposedly is working now, so I switched back to it, and I'm getting no love.
It's not FC or anything, it just doesn't *do* anything. I plug in headphones, fire up Pandora, then go to DSP Manager and toggle everything on/off listening for differences, and nothing seems to change the sound. Very odd.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue, or more importantly, figured a way to get it to work!
Thanks!
Apparently the DSPManager only works for the stock Media Player. I also had noticed this, I'm wondering why would the CM team would feel the need to change this.
If anybody knows if this behaviour is configurable or reversible then please do share!
I stopped using dsp and started using volume+. It has equalizer, control of headsets and phone speaker. Best of all it makes the G2 speakers louder.

[Q]Hissing static noise from Audio jack while playing music?

Hello guys,
I have an HD2 running Jaguar Android SD Version. Last week I bought a new headset and since then when playing music there is a very audible hissing noise in the background when playing music. It starts when the music application(I tried few of them) starts and when the music is stopped/paused the hissing stops few seconds after.
Two weeks before I had to Task29, delete windows installation and put new windows and Radio. Also I installed Beats audio which was problematic and uninstalled them. So I am not sure if its the windows software/radio which could have been the problem or is it the high sensitivity of the new head phones.
Any one with any ideas? Is there an app which can filter it?
I have the same problem...I don't know if it's the Awesome beats tweaks I did or something else...but I'd surely be interested in a positive answer to this..sorry I didn't offer anything..
