When I first got the mt4g, it used to ask me if I want to play the video in the browser or in the YouTube app.
Now it no longer gives me a choice, when I'm browsing a page with an embedded YouTube video and click play, it plays in the page.
How do I make it so when I click on the videos they play straight to the external app like they used to?

Click to collapse
Try cleaning the browser defaults and the youtube defaults via the apps menu.

press menu>settings>applications>Manage applications, then select all from the top menu... then select youtube and clear data and clear cache, then find internet and clear data and cache for it, and you should be golden!!!
The browser says "No defaults set", and I cleared YouTube defaults, but it still plays within the browser.

I cleared all data for both and it didnt work. Does it have to do with the update to the full version of Adobe Flash? I think before it was using Flash Lite, which forced videos to load in the YT app?
Chrome automatically plays youtube clips inside of chrome itself.
Is there a way to open youtube links in youtube?
The "clear defaults" is greyed out under Chrome and YouTube so I guess this is the way it works out of the box.
Have you seen a video, and wanted to download it, but some app works and others don´t ?
This way works for me like a charm.
First download and install Dolphin Browser. (This have two options when you want to see a video, to see it on line or download. Always use see it on line, download feature is unstable).
Second download and install Es File Explorer. (This have a very stable download manager and give all details of a download)
So, for example, want a video from youtube, open it with Dolphin Browser, select the video, see it online, then in the right top corner are three points, push them and select view in ES downloader manager. That´s it.
The default name is "Playback" or the name of the page and some numbers, always in .MP4.
Works in all Androids.
PD If the streaming video doesn´t open with the Dolphin video player, copy the URL of the video, and open it with ES Download manager.
I'm having trouble with Facebook video. Usually tapping on videos it will play the videos but now when I tap on the video there's nothing happening as if I didn't touch the screen. On images it works when I tap the images. Only videos I can't tap on it. Anyone else have this kind of problem?
Any help please? I've tried uninstall and install back it's still the same... I'm on stock unrooted
I sit with the same issue. There is a setting in fb that allow video to play directly, depending if you are on wifi or not. Mine is set to play video on wifi driect, but sometimes the videos don't play when scrolling down through the feeds. . When clicking on the video it still doesn't play sometimes. What I did and it works every time, when clicking on the video it opens the video and nothing happens. On the right hand top of the video there is 2 arrows pointing up and down or at an angle away from each other. That is to maximize the video. Maximize the video and it will begin to play.
I have YouTube vanced and when switching apps normally YouTube would play in a little window.
It's switched on in YouTube's settings any help
Though I'm a YT Vanced user - I guess it's the same workaround: to get PiP I have to enter the recent apps switcher to trigger the miniature player, while Youtube is playing a video - otherwise it just plays audio in the background and the PiP window is not displayed.
go to phone settings and disable Picture-in-Picture
Sorry auto correct its vanced I'm using not cancer oops
