Android 3.0 aka Honeycomb preview sdk has landed....
can someone compile it for for DHD....
i know Dhd is not tablet but its big enough....
http://developer.android.com/sdk/preview/index.html
PLEASE!!!
Yes please, can someone cook this up for our DHD's?
Errr, I'm sure an SDK is just an SDK and not a source? Want to cook it? See if it works with the guide on cooking your own rom in this forum...

Geez..now gingerbread seems so 2010 lol
I extracted the wallpapers if anyone wants them

lol, it's not that easy
Looks pretty swish.
Swyped from my superfast, LeeDrOid DHD, on the XDA app.
Neeeeeed ! plz !!
I would rather prefer a very stable gb version with good battery life than something that will take months to develop.

Looks very nice!
I hope someone can compile a build for Desire HD
Can't wait. I think Google's really going to port their tablet design also to smartphones.

No, but it's by no means impossible the first froyo custom ROM's where developed from the emulator images within the SDK so i wouldn't be surprised to see some limited functionality ROM's popping up in the next week or so

There are numerous stable builds of Gingerbread around this section, what are you waiting for?! Battery Life is also very acceptable on CM7 builds, much better than it was on CM6.
Just been looking at the Honeycomb emulator and it looks great, but I don't think it's built with the smartphone in mind.
Regards.
but I thought it is only for tablet. Will we lose our fone function?
this would be too awesome, seems to be cyanogenmod8 is in production, tablets have fone function as well ... so it wont loose any !
+1 it would be really gr8 if someone do us this favor and develops a 3.0 ROM. That would be really awesome.
first of all, sdk's never give a good rom, and second this is just a preview
Ran it on my emulator. Pretty sweet. Though Honeycomb would be much worse since it's for the tablet freaks but looks pretty nice
who is hAve here a link rom honeycomb for dhd ?
can anybody port the 3.0 honeycomb version to our beloved Hero?
they did it to the G1/Magic, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RKEHfOwnSI&feature=player_embedded
any hope??
If there is a port to G1/Magic I guess that is possible a port to Hero..

yea, let us know
it's certainly buildable for the hero - but most hardware will be broken I would imagine.
Sitting here, playing with an ugly port of the sdk, the first images, most just to remove my pin code so I can get into the system
yes elelinux!
do you think when the sources get released you would have much chance of building a full (or near full) working honeycomb rom?

I think it's possible, but it will not be easy. Especially because Honeycomb is made for tablets... and not for our phones.
If it's built from SDK I bet that almost none of the hardware is working...

That is correct, but strangely all the backlighting of the buttons etc worked out of the box, buttons it is easy to fix if you want.
Just a little test for fun nothing else, also saw that there was support for mdpi so theoretically it could be working on Hero with some manual intervention.
Another thing to, boot up without problems

Yes but hardly anything is working! Even the Nexus one has no audio, wifi, bluetooth, calls!
Yes, it is foolish to ask for a ROM that's meant to run on tablets to be made for phones. But I never have never said and never will say no to a new ROM...
Sent from my Hero using XDA App
Yes it's going to run like ass and our screens won't do any good either.
But... as always, I'm eager to see what crazy stuff the ROM-people come up with.
but the sdk version includes some feature of switching from tablet to mobile mode by simply changing resolution... they won't have included it if it wasn't meant to be run on mobiles, and in 3.1, mobile (2.x) and tablet (3.0) development lines shall be joined (says wikipedia lol). moreover, lots of people out here said it would be impossible to run 2.2 and 2.3 on hero, and right now i'm looking at my rooted android 2.3 hero which is incredibly smooth and stable (way better than with stock os). so why shouldn't it be possible? ele just said even backlight of the buttons worked out of the box, which was not case in 2.x. i'm still believing in our developers (although i can't code well enough to support them ) and i'm sure they'll do some magic
greets, Summoner
Do you really use wikipedia for truths? Anyone can add to Wiki?!
no i don't... i just think it sounds possible... otherwise, there would be two future development lines which the consequence would be that there were VERY different features depending where more / the better devs work on lol^^
i didn't claim it was the absolute truth, otherwise i wouldn't have explicitly said it came from wiki ...

I'm not sure what you are asking for...
Android/Google hasn't released the Source Code yet. So no developer has it. as of right now you can use a SDK port but many of the main features aren't working.
when they goin to port ics in to my touch?
the nexus s is runnig ics all ready

I don't care what the Nexus S is running. We don't own Nexus S phones. Google has not released the source code for Android 4.0 yet. So no developer has it in their hands. EVERYTHING that is out there is a build from the SDK, so there will be flaws.
for a week or two there was a SDK port floating around here on XDA. the thread has been removed due to instability (or some other TOS)... but here is proof of my statement. http://omgdroid.com/2011/10/25/ice-cream-sandwich-4-0-1-sdk-port-mytouch-4g/

no need to state the obvious...
who cares? be patient buddy.
Im itching to try and port ICS, but an SDK port isn't what you want to work with if it can be avoided.
Title is quite confusing, I don't know is your inquiring about when ICS went to the MT4G or something else.
If you really want to use an SDK you can A) port it yourself B)Buy a nexus C)Wait for source D)use ICS theme & launcher

As far as I know, that build never made it past boot looping. I don't think the "dev" even had a MT4G, so there was no way he could get it working. He had similar posts for several devices for which he was attempting to get working ICS.

You should be able to get it to work, maybe with some bugs. If you never try you, won't know what might happen
From my fist to your face, enjoy!
It's being worked on by myself and a couple others. No eta or anything, but I'll start a thread in general section when we have more info on where we stand to keep everyone updated.
Sounds goods to me

Hey y'all, i'm just asking whether you'd like WebOS running on the desire z. Think about it, the desire z would be AWESOME with webos, and it would be (relatively) easy to compile, since it's got the same processor as the Veer.
webOS is fine...
but i was hoping someone could make a windows mobile ROM... but that's clearly impossible since its not open source...
oh well... but i vote for webOS.... even if its not that good, it would help the developement...

They have a different touch screen, camera's and drivers so I don't think it would be that easy ;p but hey I may be wrong

Yep, that's my understanding as well. The hardware drivers don't exist, so they would have to be made from scratch. A huge amount of work to get what is . . .yes a dead OS onto our phone. So unless the OP or somebody he knows is planning to take this on as a project, this is kind of a pointless post.
Other than that, more variety on ROMs is always a good thing. If you don't want it, don't flash it. So there is no real "downside" to having WebOS ported over.
Other than the "because we can" aspects why webOS?
I would much prefer a windows phone Rom...

I'm new to here... but this poll really suit me, as I have currently a Desire Z & a Pre 3! I would love to have webOS on Desire Z but I prefer vertical keyboard. Horizontal keyboard is good but a bit too large for rapid typing.
So my answer is: if I don't have Pre 3, Excellent to have webOS on Desire Z. But since I have one already, it's also a good idea for me to have a Android phone, mostly for apps and games.

Actually, someone made an MIUI ROM running an optimized version of launcher 7! It's VERY nice.
I think this is where Obama's "Yes We Can!" would be perfect i guess..

two things:
first its the look of windows phone not windows mobile (i want a 6.5 not a 7)
second its still android... webOS will change its OS to webOS...

Well, "Everything is relative", a smart guy once said. So true. and i must admit, maybe i exaggerated a bit by saying "easy", 'cause nothing i've ever seen related to coding seems easy at all. i know nothing about coding, but i do know that if you can make the processor run without modifications, then the rest won't be too hard. After all, it is a SoC . I may be wrong, but i can't help it.
This would be more like Proof-of-Concept in my books...regardless, I'd definitely give it a whirl!
sorry, but i think i puked a little when i read the topic... I was using webos on my touchpad and damn it was more of a scientific demonstration of what it can do.. it's painfully unpolished.
I've never seen webos. Hellz bellz yeah ill ride that donkey for a day. It cannot possibly be any worse than Amazons horriibly kanged android.
I also want to see XP on it since the fella in that other thread brought it up. MSDOS too.

I'm not too interested to test this.
But, if you can make it work without problems - why not?
I bet there's much people that would like to try this out!
Would be interesting to try.
The more the merrier.
Anyone still interesting?
As HP was released a complete WebOS source and there are GNex port, so any hope to have this charm thing on our phone!
Just curious to see something new in porting for this device.
Keep the fire flaming!

It would be interesting to see, but that's definitely a LOT of work.
Let's see that what's we have here? The most problem with porting job is linux kernel and drivers compatible and fully functionals working. We have some working Android kernel 3.x, the most close version compared with official Linux kernel, WebOS is based on Linux kernel also. If developers still interesting on porting it then they can do it a quite easy than the time before kernel 3.x got working.

I found this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24086460&highlight=updater-script#post24086460 that says how to port MIUI to any device, but I don´t know so much about development so I don´t know if MIUI would be compatible or not with TF101.
Does anyone know if it is possible and if yes, test it?
Maybe ask sportstar, who's taking care of our aokp build, he might know how. I know I wanna try miui on the tf101, that'd be nice

I wish a such thing to happen, cuz frankly I LOVE MIUI unfortunately its not properly designed to be used on tablets but rather on phones

Of course it will be fine to port it to tf, but the interface might be deformed.
Well I have tried to port it following the tutorial, it wasn´t so difficult. I can´t flash it right now so I am goint to upload it and openning a thread so you will be able to test it.
The Kindle Fire has a version in their development section, from the screenshots, it doesn't look too bad, but you can definitely tell its not meant for tabs yet.
