This will mean less than nothing in terms of their day to day biz. It's still his company. I have my issues with them but objectively speaking there's a lot to admire about him and Apple. (No, I don't and won't own their products, but I don't have to be a tribalist either.)

honestly, I hope apple can keep up the momentum he started. If iphone didn't start the trend, we may never have gotten android, and if the 2 didn't keep trying to 1up eachother, android wouldn't be as awesome as it is. Competition drives innovation. I wish apple luck... if only to keep a fire lit under google's ass

These are just getting old. Both the iPhone and the Galaxy S II are great devices. They are also completely different and unique in their own ways. Samsung's first commercial was funny, these are just getting old. C'mon people grow up a bit.

So I got a Epic Touch for a reasonable price that should be arriving tomorrow. Not getting rid of my Epic, but it won't be on a line. I'll be happy to test anything for people. Please feel free to contact me. I'll be lurking and helping here still. Not to fear.

Let us know how it is going from epic's QWERTY to no-keyboard.
The keyboard options for new phones are sparse and not terribly viable (droid 4's display, bootloader, etc).
It will soon be time for all of us to move on, and life in the non-qwerty world seems daunting!

Don't get heated over the comment I made I was joking. And you should read about Apple's pull down. It's like they stole and manipulated in a way that Google could sue, but will fail in doing so.

Omg when my sister upgraded to the 4S on att I played with it for a bit and she got a text and I saw a little symbol in the "notification bar" uptop and habitually swiped down and forgot I was on an iphone lmfao I was like "O.O and they sue google partners over **** that people can't even see?"
I wish we had "technology courts" or something that will have judges who specialize in electronics and will actually know when a company is suing, that company also has parts blatantly stolen from "company b".
One thing I admire about apple is their control over the sheeple. Its so amazing!

When referring to my or any other Android-powered smartphone, do not call it "an Android". That is incorrect; Android is the operating system, not the entire device. I don't run around calling your iPhone an iOS. Go with "Android phone" or "Android device" or something similar.
Secondly, despite Samsung's commercials, calling a device by it's manufacturing name is wrong too. You can argue that all you want: but referring to your Blackberry as a RIM, your iPhone as an Apple, or your Pre Plus as an HP sounds absurd. Android and WP7 devices are created by different manufacturers. So it's even more wrong to do so. It sounds wrong, and it is wrong.

I'm fine with that, unless I need to know the exact type, which is rare, Droid works for me, as I am smart enough to understand that when I hear Droid, it just means a person has a phone that runs the Android OS.
No need to get panties all in a bunch over it, that's more of an iPhone owner behavior

No... I am on my EPIC 4G! I hate how people specify iPhone and don't just say "my phone" and instead say "oh, let me check my iPhone".

Pretty much this. Who cares what the proper nomenclature is. Calling an Android device an "Android" or a "Droid" isn't any different than calling any brand of facial tissue "Kleenex" or (for you old timers out there like me) any portable cassette player a "Walkman".

Yah, Verizon did an incredible job with their Droid Ad campaign, so much so, that "Droid" seems to be the most commonly used name for any phone running the android OS.
Someone at the Verizon Ad department deserves a major bonus for their work on that Ad run

Android to me is a family. Not just the operating system. Too many people start flame wars over manufacturing. So to me I love my Droid... I believe the common term for this literary phenomena is "proprietary eponym". 'Kleenex' for facial tissue; 'Xerox machine' for a photocopier, etc etc. Our mod and I live in Central Florida where people drink "Cokes" when they are holding a can of 7-Up...
"Droid" has come on board as any mobile smartphone device NOT manufactured by Apple or RIM.
Darkie is justified for pointing this out, just as the devs were for illustrating the difference between "kernels" and "kernals"
