so now that the Native SD seems to be a HiT & is Fast, will the SD Development still continue? Would those guys who are not developers - so they say - be able to still port/ convert those NAND Roms to Native SD?
Just wondering.
Nativesd and SD aren't the same, nativesd is a nand rom running from SD ext so for example can't be used when the phone is running winmo, whereas SD android can be started from haret under winmo.
oops, wrong.

oh, well happy to be corrected, , i just hadn't seen any reference to haret/clrcad in relation to nativesd.

it will if you choose 'nand' in the instalation options, but any rom that allows nativeSD will use teh aroma installer and will default to installing on the sd-ext partition, unless you manually choose the nand option.

Hey guys I am in!!. After a long search I managed to get an hd2 ... and I am getting used to it. The first thing I do is I put magldr 1.13, cement 3.xxx, then put latest miui rom ( man I have never seen such an eyecady android ever).
Since I am a newbee to hd2, pls help me with some doubts
1) can I instal wp7 and any android to nand at the same time? Or I have to keep Andy in SD inorder 2 dual boot?
2) can I use supercharger script. Also pls help me to add tweeks to hd2( like scripts, mods, etc) .pls post some links 2 those.
3) where are the latest radios? I managed 2 find only one.
4) does chrot work on hd2, I have read about it in LG optimus2x forum. And I am interested in installing backtrack in hd2.
5) magldr always boot into the os directly, and hence I can't go to cwm from any app, nor can't flash zips using rom manager. For that I always have 2 go2 adrecovery from magldr menu, which takes me into cwm. And I am not sure if cwm is in nand or SD. Pls clear it to me.
6) what is about partitioning? Various roms require various sizes, and it confuses me. I can't install nexus HD rom( android 4. Ported 2 hd2). It installs and don't boot at all. Where I can instal miui which I am using now.
7) which one is better magldr or clk? What are the differences?
Pls help me...
Thankz in advance .

let me get a crack at this lol.
1. i believe only one os can be on nand only, ive seen people boot nand wp7 and android sd
2. i use the supercharger script which is great and use option 9, its in the android hacking forum.
3. the only radio you should probably be concerned and using (since there tested for compatibality lol ) is the 2.x.50.x radio ( preferably 2.15.50 for android)
4.never heard of chrot lol. sorry
5. rom manager now supports the hd2 and recovery is in nand.
6. some roms require different system partions to run correctly so there is ample wiggle room for the os to run smooth and butter.
7. there both great bootloaders, i wont state whats better, but i use magdlr since its the first one i used, and i really liked it and have gotten accustomed to it.
hope i answered your questions man and good luck!
i'm gonna try to answer too!

with stock EVERYTHING, only WM6.5 can be in the NAND. MAGLDR supports only ONE OS in NAND at a time (either Android or WP7). so the other OS can be on sd card only. and the only OSes one can boot from sd card are Android and Ubuntu.

honestly, most of the custom ROMs here are already tweaked enough to my liking. for some tweaks, you can use apps like "spare parts+" and "rom toolkit" etc. the rest is all customizations:
1. skins - if using a cyanogenmod Android, then theme switcher is built in. if using an HTC Sense Android, then theme switcher is already built in. most "simpler" ROMs may require a lot of work on your part to tweak the look n feel.
2. wallpapers - easy! changing wallpapers is built into all Android ROMs
3. ringtones & alerts - easy! changing these is built into all Android ROMs
4. apps - go to the market place (on Android or WP7) and download whatever you want!
and so on...

are you talking about the "chroot" command in linux? i just tried to run it in my Android's terminal emulator and it works. if you are talking about a way to grant root access to applications that request it on Android, then yes again. most custom Android ROMs here are already "rooted".

isn't it nice that MAGLDR boots into your default ROM automatically? to access the MAGLDR menu, reboot the device, and hold down the power/endcall button until the MAGLDR menu comes up.
CWM is in the NAND (these days), but CAN be on the sd card if you want. it takes less than 5MB of your NAND. this will be more clear if you pay attention to the contents of "flash.cfg" when you are performing the MAGLDR partitioning using "DAF.exe" on your desktop.
6) what is about partitioning? Various roms require various sizes, and it confuses me. I can't install nexus HD rom( android 4. Ported 2 hd2). It installs and don't boot at all. Where I can instal miui which I am using now.

there are two kinds of partitioning we discuss on xda:
1. NAND partitioning - done with MAGLDR. a few MB for the recovery (CWM), followed by a big chunk of memory for the ROM itself, followed by a few MB for the cache, followed by a big chunk of memory for user data. most of the ROMs these days are "heavy", so they expect a partition size that can store the full ROM after unzipping, so the chunk remaining for the cache partition and the user data partition is sometimes barely enough. as a result, some Android ROMs now require an sd card partitioning (see next point) so that they can store part of the ROM in the NAND and the rest of it on the "sd-ext" partition (usually an ext3 or ext4 partition, among others).
2. SD Card partitioning - done via a desktop tool (like "minitool") or via CWM's menu options. the desktop tool will obviously give you a lot more flexibility when performing the partitioning but some ROMs seem to work best if your card is partitioned via CWM's menus. keep in mind that CWM will remove your existing FAT32 partition (so backup the data on the FAT32 partition!!!), then it will create all the partitions (including the FAT32 one) from scratch. typical partitioning is FAT32+1GB ext3 or FAT32+1GB ext4 or FAT32+1GB ext3+128MB linux swap, and so on...

neither...you can search for a detailed comparison between the two. to summarize:
MAGLDR pros: supports WP7, dual booting (between NAND and sd card), detailed NAND partitioning, tetris!
MAGLDR cons: doesn't support PPP (a way to access your mobile network's data connection). only RMNET is supported (RMNET is another way to access the data connection, but slower than PPP). doesn't allow charging the device if completely powered OFF...need the WP7 or Android OS to boot up before it can charge the battery. finally, has an "ugly" screen that appears between the splashscreens on boot up.
CLK pros: supports PPP, allows charging the device when OFF, and doesn't interrupt the splashscreens on boot up.
CLK cons: works only to boot an Android ROM, cannot use CLK to boot WP7 or to dual boot. CLK is not 100% supported on some ROMs. most ROMs these days are "dual" but the experience may be less/more stable on the CLK version of the same ROM.
i believe neither MAGLDR nor CLK can pick the WIFI and Bluetooth MAC addresses from the NV-RAM of the device. the only mechanism i know to achieve this is to boot an sd card Android from within WM6.5...or to use an sd card Android whose kernel supports custom specification of MAC addresses from a config file on the sd card.
most Android kernels these days "generate" a unique WIFI MAC address and Bluetooth MAC address so that no two HD2s running these ROMs will have the same MAC address.
i'm not sure how the WP7 ROMs solve this problem...maybe Android is the only OS for the HD2 that has to "generate" MAC addresses.
Pls help me...

Yap, i got the points. But dudes i am a previous owner of wildfire. So i know some of the things already. Such as sd partitioning. Tweeking using scripts etc. But i am new to nand partitioning. Is it like the one we do for wildfire ( allocating extra unused memory from rom partition to user partition so that user need not to move that much apps to sd. And ofcourse it will give u upto 150mb extra memory for user data).
I am not asking about root. Itz chroot. Its the linux command from terminal to mound other linux os like backtrack etc. If it qorks, where can i find such an os?
Also about tweeks. It not the app or wallpaper stuff. Itz advanced user tweeks like installing bravia engine, beatz audio, kernal, rom, ram tweekz etc..
Also i want to know if i can get a custom cwm recovery which is highwr than 3.xxx, man wildfire is now reaching cwm 5+. Then why r we still in 3. Also my cwm dont wipes my battery log. What my be the prblm? I have cwm 3.xx( the latest offered by rommanager.

Flash HSPL2,radio higher than 2.09,MAGLDR 1.13.
NAND:
Flash CWM with correct partition
Then, flash rom by copying it to SD card then selecting install zip from sd card
SD:
Copy to SD card.
Then, go to magldr menu and select the folder where you stored your rom.
Go back and select BOOT AD SD
Hope I helped.......
By the way by HSPL2 he means HSPL2.08. Although I assume that you already have this flashed to NAND memory by the stuff you've said already And to select the SD thing go to (in MAGLDR menu) Services>AD SD Dir>folder with ROM in it.

Emm... It says you must do reset of you phone from settings (or hard reset from magldr). Then you should don't let your phone boots (just stay in magldr). Remove your card from phone and put it to PC's card reader. Use MiniTool Partition Wizard to create more partitions (fat32 and ext4). And there you go. Try to boot WP7. If it boots normaly just install Android as NativeSD.
You will be lost any of your data on SD.
I think those tutorial is clearly enough. Hope you can repeat all of this steps.

lojjj, I too have attempted to follow that series of tutorials, and finally succeeded, but due specifically to the part you are mentioning, it took me HOURS. There is no "Touch", "Recovery" or "Tap" folder on a freshly partitioned SD card with 4extRecovery on it. The instructions are absolutely extraneous and cause confusion. Moreover, instructions for using HD2Toolkit to partition the card are useless for triple booting if one has already partitioned using a card reader in your computer. Yes, it can be done, but doesn't need to be done if one has followed the instructions up to that point.
The other problem is that one needs to combine three or more tutorials just to do this, and they sometimes have different options, but no reason given for choosing those options. This may be the best tutorial out there, pictures and everything, but still a far cry from being perfect or complete. Oh, and sometimes the tutorials are continued in another post, which also leads to confusion.

You're looking for this ones? The link provides at the top of first post. There are a lot of recoveries with NativeSD support. You need to download one of them, unpack and copy to root of SD Card. And then you can get to Magldr > Service > Boot Setting > AD SD Dir > Recovery.
Maybe I'm wrong cause I never did such things. Good luck :fingers-crossed:

If you want to dual boot wp7 and nativeSD, you have to install wp7 first.
When it comes to the partitioning, you need fat32 first (to the left), then ext4 (middle) and then the wp7 bit (to the right) all set as primary.
There is an old video for dual booting http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944288 don't use the DFT rom, use a newer one. After you have wp7 working with small partition, shrink the FAT32 partition and create an ext4 partition in the middle. Then put android ROM.zip and recovery onto fat32 and install as per rom instructions.
Hope this helps

"thanks" on last post was my fault .
It seem that you didn't prepared nand . All of these ROM need some space for install in nand. If you read the first post on the ROM you choose , you can find how to prepare it.
Remember that maybe you must reinstall even WP7 after you have prepared nand.
Personally I use Tytung NativeSd ROM with Wp7 on nand for just about 1 year. And everything run fine.

no. if on nativeSD, and the new rom is NativeSD, you can not partition. but if the rom is nand/dataonext it's always better to repartition (to repartition nand not sd-ext)
HD2 Toolkit

in order to switch nativeSD rom, open the nativeSD folder on your sd card, there are many folders there, corresponding to which rom you have. open the folder you want (lets say MIUI_v5), copy its contents and paste in nativeSD folder on sdcard, replacing the files inside.
these are the boot files, and each files boot a rom (only if you have installed it )

the 4ext folder should have zImage and initrd.gz inside. if not, then you extracted wrong. open the folder on your sd, it probably has a folder inside that have these files. so move all files to have:
/sdcard/4ext/zImage
/sdcard/4ext/initrd.gz
