just donwload that and delete the files that arent usually there from the root of your memory card, and open the file up you just downloaded and put all the content on the root of your memory card

Good lad. You're learning!
I am having the same problem with removing an old gmail account from the previous owner of the phone. After you deleted the data file, how did you get your internet/3g working again? I'm afraid to delete it before I know what to do afterward to make sure everything works when running android. I think I have the nexus one version on my hd2. Thank you.

Selling phone, how to setup for new user?

Is there anyway to setup a phone for a new user without logging into the market as yourself? Im actually giving my phone away to a smartphone illiterate relative, but I dont want to ask for their gmail login info to enable downloading from the market.
It seems if I login as myself, then the user cannot be removed. Anyway around this, anyother way to install apps without using the market?

Figured it out. For those with a similar Q in the future: use Root Explorer and go to /data/system/ find accounts.db and rename it to accounts.db.bak

So then what happens? The other person just signs into the phone with their Google account and all is set up?
Wipe your phone
Why not just wipe your phone? And yea if you rename that with a .bak at the end the other user should be able to just create one. Only thing, renaming that file to .bak does is make it to where the system doesn't see it and it also keeps a copy on phone incase you want to revert back to it. If your selling the phone, dont rename it, delete that file if you ask me
I agree with sinister, just wipe it and give it to them, show them how to log in and call it good
We're comin from a pure power source.
I will suggest a factory reset...

remove malware help

Hey guys all the browsers on my s8 are infected with a pop up redirecting malware. I delete the cash delete and reinstall the browsers and it didn't fix it. I used an anti-virus and a malware remover and they didn't detect anything. Help me please
Try to uninstall all third party apps that you may have installed yourself.
If this resolves the issue, just install what you are fully aware is safe.
If you are installing APK's outside of Google Play without experience then you are asking for trouble.
APKMirror is the only site I deem safe when it comes to downloading APK's.
If you can't remove the "malware" by following my steps above, my only other suggestion is that you attempt to backup your files onto a computer (LEAVE he APK's) and do a factory reset either through settings if possible and if not, use the recovery button combination and format /data
***YOU WILL LOOSE DATA IF NOT BACKED UP*** This includes old messages etc, if there's something important inside of an app such as notes, make a backup elsewhere.
Scroll all the way down in you settings / app list and there you most likely will find an app without a logo or name. Just delete this and your phone will be malware free. (at least that's what I did last week)

It is Google services Framework that must be clear to receive update + the google, google play services and locatuon services.
Plus after clearing go back to the vpn app and reactivate the tunnel.
Do not put sim back until update will be installed
Worked for me.
I get it before this post, but it's similar. In my case, I just changed the system language to English (for view all the apps mentioned) instead of timezone. And don't needed to remove my accounts (even Google accounts). Gps off and without SIM cards. About the apps to clear data, when clear Google Services Framework, it's recomended to force stop too. After all, I start vpn in India server and try to update. And it's done! Very similar. Works for me. Maybe works for someone else.

Yepp works fine. :good::good:
I've tried it with Torguard VPN, it didn't work but after using Psiphon Pro VPN it works.
Please don't do this,
Deleting Google Service Framework data will do harm to you're device!

You are right.
With method of the OP it worked to upgrade to pie.
But as already forecasted in your post, push notifications stopped working properly after upgrading.
Workaround without factory resetting the whole ROM seems to be reinstalling the apps which need Google Cloud messaging services, to obtain a new ID. E.g. for WhatsApp, that worked for me.
So think twice if this trouble is worth to you.
Thanks to Midomad to this useful link.

Run this command in a root terminal then reboot and reopen the apps, no need to reinstall, though I still recommend a factory reset
find /data/data -name com.google.android.gms.appid.xml | xargs rm

Push notifications of what apps? On my phone i did twice (clear data from framework) and push notifications are working as they should be.
PS: U don't need to remove your google account to do the process. Wiping the apps do the trick.

No,i'm from the future!
This is valid no matter what Android version you are using!

Here is another recent thread from miui forum for last year's Mi A1.
If this not enough for you,you can make some search on google about clearing Google service framework data.
If, after all, you're still not convinced!
Do whatever you want, just be more polite answering users next time.

For me in WhatsApp, the german weather app "WarnWetter" and Xing.
I'll observe if other issues come up and will then consider a factory reset.

It's true, you won't receive notifications from many apps like twitch, restoring backup from titanium backup has the same effect, but running the command above is enough to solve it

Since not everyone is rooted, and from my experience,a factory reset is the only safe solution available after resetting GSF data!
I think waiting for an OTA update, is easier than looking how to fix things on you're device.

Any way to delete all ShieldTV data from Google Account?

Ok
Found my solution
Mod can delete post
