Hi there
I would like to root my Samsung Galaxy Y, but I encounter a problem while doing it.
When I select "apply update from sdcard" in the recovery menu, it would tell me this:
E: failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)
E: Can't mount /sdcard
Install from sdcard complete.
Could somebody tell me how to get through this?
BTW. Some additional information about my phone. Maybe it could help.

I downloaded the update file and rename to update.zip, and I follow every single step correctly, but I still get error, here is the details:
Code:
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check ("MTD:boot:2392064:a233aa76b83a5efcc03f66c51a418cb15c4d9ab2:2392064:84dfd9df1409e2ff817ad5eb872ed83094742bed")
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)

Hey out there,
im updated my phone to the o2-branded froyo. Here are the details:
PDA: I9000AOJP4
Phone: I9000AOJP3
CSC: I9000VIAJP2
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
build.date: 2010.10.26. (x) 14:55:45 KST
build.host: SE-S611 #1
build.changelist: 659232
I used z4root to root this firmware. Everything went fine and root works. But if i try now to install busybox i get an error:
Status Waiting...
Your phone is rooted.
Amount of free space in /system: 0kb
Not enough space to install busybox to /system we need at least 1000kb free
Busybox was not found!
I think its because its mounted as readonly, right? How can i fix this?
Thx in advance!
Hi All,
I'm facing a weird problem. I've just updated to android 2.2.1 by international galaxy (PDA I9000XWJS8) and I wanted to root it using update.zip applicable to 2.2 android version.
I have put the update.zip into /mnt/sdcard/ directory, then reboot into android recovery 3e, then 'install sdcard:update.zip'
Well, this is what I get:
----
Install from sdcard
Finding update package ...
Opening update package ...
Verifying update package ...
E:failed to seek in /mnt/internal_sd/update.zip
(Invalid argument)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborte
----
Apparently the file cannot be found, because it is looked for in the /mnt/internal_sd directory and not /mnt/sdcard directory. But my internal sd is mounted in /mnt/sdcard.
How can I either change the behaviour of android recovery to look for zip file in /mnt/sdcard - or - mount my internal sd card as /mnt/internal_sd?
This of course does not permit me at all to install whatever update.zip.
During flashing to froyo 2.2.1 I've updated PIT to 8xx version (812?) and used repartition from ODIN.
Appart of that things look OK, any help greatly appreciated.
Search is your friend.
Since Froyo you cannot install update.zips from recovery (3e). You need 2e recovery.
SuperOneClick should work linkage .....
Alternatively you could flash a custom kernel via odin & have root, clockwork recovery & lagfix if you wanted.
is there any recommended kernel known to work with following configuration:
PDA: I9000XWJS8
PHONE: I9000XXJQ1
CSC: I9000OXXJP9
(build 2011.03)?
thanks

They pretty much all work with that config, just choose the one that would be most suited to your needs & level of competence.
And be sure to download the Odin version of the kernel you choose ......

Your english is fine, but your log shows exactly why it fails, you're using a 5.0.x firmware while flashing xposed for a 5.1.x firmware.
