TWRP 2.2.2.0, aokp_picasso_milestone-6 and battery life - Acer Iconia A500

Hi,
Firstly thanks for the excellent resources available through this forum. With the help of TWRP and a user guide, I have finally been able to get from just a rooted A500 to running a custom ROM. Could never get past the booloader before
Since updating to the aokp_Picasso_milestone-6 ROM, I have noticed that my battery totally sucks. Last night, I deliberately made sure it was fully charged, turned off. Wifi, Bluetooth and GPS and turned the screen off as I always have done. 16 hours later, with nothing happening and the tablet nit being touched, the battery was completely drained. On the stick ROM, it used to last for days like that. am I missing something buried in the settings somewhere?
Do I need to update my ROM to a different version?
Any advice would be fantastic.

EVO battery and restarting problem

Hello all,
I've had my EVO for about 2 months so far. I've notice just like everybody that the battery life sucks to hades. I've rooted the phone since then.
1st problem) Maybe it's me or it's a problem no one addressed yet, The phone will start getting hot when it is in standby mode. When the back light goes out it gets hot. I've check to see if there were any wild or un-needed services running and there isn't, and its not like McDonald's Coffee hot but very very warm to the touch. And when it does that the battery life starts at 100% and ends at 20% within 40 minutes.
2nd problem) I've installed two programs in which I've deleted since the time it happen. A Super User Permission app, the one that's gray and has the jolly roger look to it. The next one is Juice Defender. I notice the problem after I installed them that the phone will start restarting itself like every 3 or 5 minutes. I'll be in the middle of a phone call and it would go blank and restart. The only time I notice it doesn't do it is when I connect it to the computer while I have debug on and when I do a hard restart in which I pulled the battery out. The battery trick only lasts for about half a day. I installed those apps 4 days ago, both at the same time.
My phone info is:
Software #
1.32.651.1
Firmware version:
2.1-update1
please help!!!! it's driving me up the wall.
I'm no expert but it sounds like a rogue app to me. If my phone were doing that i would wipe it and start from scratch.
Just my thoughts.......

Try updating to one of the rooted 2.2 Froyo ROMs. Be sure to do a full wipe (data, cahe, dalvik-cache) before installing a new ROM, unless otherwise instructed. You're running an old software version of Eclair (current Froyo is 3.26.651.6). I've received considerably better battery life since the update to Froyo, especially with a custom ROM and custom kernel. I personally run both SetCPU and Juice Defender with no problems or any overheating issues.
Mostly it sounds like you have something locking your CPU usage at 100% which would explain the heat and battery drain. I suspect you may be having software conflicts using the old OS version. Do a Nandroid backup before flashing a different ROM so that you can rollback to your exact setup you currently have if you do not like the results of the updated ROMs.
And by all means, DO NOT flash an unrooted stock Froyo ROM (or take any OTA update). There still is no method to root that.
Yeah I have been debating the whole wipe the phone and start with the 2.2 OTA and wait till they root that. This is driving me mad, cause it's seems it knows when I need it the most. When I'm at the house it last and stay up like a champ, when I leave it starts acting up.
Which leaves me with the question how do you save the apps on your phone?

Appbrain is a good way to manage apps. Any paid apps should still show up in your downloads section of the market after a hare reset. I have no battery problems with the ota 2.2 patiently waiting root. Don't know if I'll root when they do figure it out because its pretty stable with decent battery life for me.

So today is Day Two since I changed the ROM. I have notice alot has changed, some things are new, and some things are working that never work before. It's like having a new phone all over again. LOL
I also use the instructions in the thread about battery life
Edit: I can't link it due to new user access. But its in the General fourm.
15 hours and I haven't plugged it up yet to recharge it yet I still have 60% left on the battery. I made 8 phones calls that lasted 2 mins and more, plus ran the music app and more.
I want to thank you guys for your help
Do you getting more then24 hours on a stock battery?
Do you keep 3g on and always connected checked?
You have to be a real light user
No sir.... by no means I'm I a light user. As I stated I use my phone pretty heavy and that was only day two that I done that.
Yes....I now get more then 24 hours out of the stock battery.
At 7am I unplug and jet out to work. I use my phone as a MP3 player for the car. 30 minute drive to and from. When at work I play games and make random phone calls for 9 hours of the day. SN: I'm doing my job also When I leave work I go to my gf's house which has no signal out there. I use to have to put it on Airplane Mode to save the battery. Now I just leave as is without changing it.
Total time using the phone in 24 hours: 14 hours
Times I charged my phone in 24 hours: 0
Battery Percent in 24 hours after 14 hours of use: 45%
Longest hours since unplugged: 2d 2h 4m 10s with a 50% life left.
Yes I keep my 3G on. I turn my GPS off and Background Data, Set the weather app or widget to update every 6 hours (Why would you need to know the weather every hour on the hour, Just press update when you open the weather app) along with other things I don't need running while I'm at work or even not using them.
This is with the OMJ Froyo 2.2 Rom update. The phone is still running smooth and as it should (in my opinion)
One minor but major problem to some I wish they would fix.
Multi-touch though out the whole phone. The Droid X, Incredible, and Nexus 1 has it.
Why can't we have it. I would be so happy if we can get that.

Galaxy S5 Sudden Death?

Hi guys,
I've had my S5 for a few days now, but I've found that it's now essentially bricked.
I rooted my G900I (Asia) using CF-Root for G900F with no issues at all. Everything worked fine, as
had been reported by several other users. I then flashed AllianceROM V1 and everything was fine.
Just yesterday, I flashed the Custom Settings patch and one of the updates, and it seemed to be ok.
Suddenly, the battery started to die fairly quickly. I didn't worry about this at the time, as it'sa new phone,
I have only performed one full battery cycle, it's probably just calibrating etc etc.
I got home and plugged it in to charge, it had gone from 40% to 13% in a few hours. I had force-stopped NFC
(which I noticed the NFC on/off tab was greyed out in the on position, still a grey toggle button though).
At around 20% i flashed OmegaROM 1.3 to see if it was the ROM causing the issue, but nothign changed.
I noticed even while plugged in I was losing battery. I switched it to Ultra Power Save mode, and the battery
stayed at a steady 9% (seemed like it was charging, but the battery was draining so fast it was just staying at 9%).
The battery estimate was 1.1 days. Within 5 hours it was dead.
I plugged it in, and saw the charging animation (just a frozen empty battery though) and after about half an hour, the
image disappeared. I tried to turn it on, but it did nothing.
I took out the battery for 30seconds/1minute, but it didn't make a difference. Charged it all night, it still won't turn on.
Has anyone heard of or experienced this before?
I'm going to try and take it back to the Samsung store to see what they say...

I went to the samsing store and the lady swapped the battery with a demo model battery and it works just fine!
She also said that the warranty is void as I've installed a custom ROM. I just played dumb haha.
Battery doesnt seem to be draining anymore, so must have been a dud battery.
Phewwww, time to let the relief sink in.
EDIT: One thing worth noting is that the old battery was actually charging when the Samsung lady tried in another device. Not sure why, hopefully its not my phone that's draining the battery.
Ugh, so it seems like my phone is just a faulty one.
It keeps draining the battery, even while plugged in, and after the battery has been swapped out for another.
I'll be sending this one back to the carrier to see if they can replace it for me. I've restored it back to stock, and I'll be removing the custom recovery. Hopefully they'll ignore/won't notice the tripped Knox.
Ha. Good luck to me...
All the best.. Hope they swap it for a new one.. keep us posted on how it goes..

Optus has approved my claim for a new phone!
The Optus staff member classed it as "ELF" which is Early Life Failure, so it was seen as a faulty unit, I guess.
This was decided as it was charging issue and was within 30 days of receiving the handset.
I'm just waiting on a new phone to be delivered to the store so I can pick it up!
Congrats m8... did the staff check to see if the knox was tripped?

Thanks!
I'm not too sure at all... I haven't been told any of the details regarding how and what they checked.
The Optus staff member told me that they would just do a brief check at the assessment center.
They also didn't send it back to Samsung, they just sent it back to Optus' warehouse (though I tracked it to
TOLL Customised Solutions in Victoria).
Though I did reset everything: flashed stock ROM (though it had no Optus CSC), allowed stock recovery
to re-flash, changed all settings back to stock. The stock ROM made the ROM Status go back to "Official", as well.
So unless they checked the recovery and the KNOX counter there (I'm not sure of any other way to see it),
then they wouldn't have seen it.

LG G2 VS980 Battery Drain

So my G2 used to last me a whole day easily, my battery life was incredible, then one day, I went to sleep, with my phone at 64%, and it wasn't charging, so then I slept 7 hours, and when I woke up, it's dead, 100% dead, it wouldn't turn on, well it would but just to turn itself back off again. Anyways, I'm rooted, I have Dorimanx kernel, killed off and deleted all unnecessary apps and tasks, ect. this battery drain has no source, at least I don't think so. My battery doesn't last half as long as it used to, and I noticed my phone is always staying slightly warm now, so you may think, it's running something, that's what's killing the battery, no, nothing is running, i checked with rom toolbox manager, and nothing that shouldn't be running is running. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I just replace the battery myself? My phone would have times (before this battery drain) that it would stay warm, but even then, my battery life was amazing. ANY help at all is very appreciated.
Edit: I fixed it? I decided to reset the phone, to see of it was a tweak messing with the battery, it still dies fast, so then I went back to stock via kdz method, so this way I had no custom kernel or anything. Still the battery drained. Then I just rooted and flashed the backup I made in TWRP right before I went back to stock, that brought my kernel and tweaks all back, and then, idk why, my battery life is fine again? After 3-4 days of dieing very quickly. Idk what happened, but if you have a battery drain, try flashing the stock ROM again and then testing the phone out like that. It worked for me. Also, I had signal problems before I went back to stock, and now I have LTE everywhere I go. I'm keeping this up in case someone has a similar problem.

TWRP flashable addon.zip for Nougat

I am still evaluating the other partitions from the Nougat update, but I wanted to get this out there ASAP. It is the RPM partition (Resource and Power Management).
I flashed this last night, and I only lost 1% battery overnight. Prior to this, I was losing 10%+. I wanted to do some more exhaustive tests before posting this, but that alone made me decide to go ahead.
If we end up finding out that there is some other downside, I will release a revert.zip to go back to the way we are currently.
In case you didn't understand, this is ONLY for people that flashed to Nougat using the manual method, or the v30b_update.zip method.
If you flash this and you are still on MM, I have no idea what it will do to your phone.
After flashing, please post your power results in this thread if you don't mind. It should go without saying that if your phone starts eating your shirt or something, please post that ASAP so I can get the revert out
Download here
If you get worse battery life, then you can revert with this zip: revert.zip.
-- Brian
Bless you fam!
Installing now, and will report back o7
You should add this to your boot/system img thread!
My battery is draining super quick after the flash. Even with charger plugged in it drains the battery. Please help
@popwar revert.zip posted. What method did you use to upgrade to Nougat? Also, what were you running prior to the upgrade?
I am baffled. I still have 95% battery life, and my phone was taken off the charger 9 hours ago. Granted, this is just "normal" usage, phone calls / some light browsing / etc, but on MM (or Nougat with the MM RPM) I would be at ~60% or less already -- and that was with Greenify.
Would love to know why you are getting such bad battery life.
-- Brian
I was on stock MM. I used the twrp method to flash nougat. I flashed the revert zip and it still wont charge using my 2.4 amp car charger where i had no issues charging before. Have yet to use quick charge since the flash.
I can report my battery life is dropping more than usual too after flashing. I was on eliminaters v20l rom and i just flashed the update.zip
Prob have to flash nougat again to fix it for now
It is possible that the numbers just aren't updating correctly. I charged overnight and went from 72% to 77% without this update. It might just be that it is actually going up and down much more than that but just not reporting it correctly with 7.0
Like a new phone, I think it is best to wait a couple full cycles, before coming up with a verdict for those who are receiving poor battery life and letting the phone recalibrate with the new power management partition.
I am testing screen on time right now. I have set my screen to not turn off and cranked the brightness to the max. I am not going by percentage, but time. How long till the phone dies.
I tried to flash the addon a few more times and still worse battery life ever seen. It drained in about 2 or 3 hours with maybe an hour of screen on time.
The only thing I can guess is that you still have some part of LP still hanging around. My weekend didn't turn out like I wanted, but when I can, I will post a complete zip. That should solve your problem.
Any difference between this RPM partition and the rpm.img you posted in your other thread?
I dirty flashed this over marshmallow and everything's running fine for over 2 days. Hell i even still have some of my xposed apks installed lol.
If anything, i think battery is better.
Edit - oops wrong thread, meant for your other full rom thread.
I did a completely clean install and flashed the addon, battery life is terrible. Its not as bad without the addon but it still sucks.
This addon works great. I got a full day out of it. Before on MM, I got 8 hours, tops.
Make an update zip to enable volte on other network
Sent from my LG-H818 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I disabled volte and wifi passpoint. Alot better as long as im not using it
I noticed the addon.zip has a file called rpm.img but the revert.zip its called rpm_mm.img, will the revert.zip still work?

Odd battery drain issue that popped up last month

I was previously running andybones' rom from 2.41.605.12 base, then found my way to resurrection remix, great rom, but some update last month killed my battery life and my ability to quick charge, phone was also in constant awake state, but I do not believe the issue was ROM specific. Either way, ran a battery stats report and it appeared that my motion sensors were keeping the phone awake. I completely wiped everything and RUU'd back to 1.19.605.9 (launch firmware), battery drain went away, rapid charging came back, phone would sleep. Performed some OTA updates and everything was fine until it got to the final version of MM 1.85.605.9, rapid charging gone, battery drain back, updated all the way through nougat and nothing changed, still draining.
I am currently back on 1.19.605.9, rooted, twrp installed. Rapid charge and no excessive drain.
What could possibly be causing this? Is anyone else dealing with this?
Here is my post with my last battery stats log
I'm currently dealing with the same thing.
Update: Ran an RUU of 2.41.605.36, then did a full wipe and installed santod40's [ROM][STOCK] 2.41.605.36, chose full wipe, unencrypted install, did some debloating of vzw software... and somehow, I have rapid charging and no wakelock drains...
I have ruu'd before and never resolved the issue. I am not sure what changed in the last RUU for me, but it worked.
...and it's back... lol

So I can't see the full log on my phone, but my phone is having a similar issue. I'm wondering if it's the same as yours. Under partial Wake Locks for BetterBatteryStats it shows NfcService:mRoutingWakeLock runs ALL of the time so my phone never goes into a deep sleep.

To be honest, I didn't even bother getting too deep in to it this time, I ruu'd back to an mm version that I know I don't have this trouble on. 1.85.605.8, and then used santod's debloated 1.85.605.9 after wiping and formatting data. The first time I had the issue, it appeared to be the accelerometer that wasn't allowing the phone to go to sleep... When I looked at the battery stats this time, it didn't seem to be my issue.
If you're s-off, you can downgrade. As much as I would appreciate certain features of nougat, it's not worth it if I have to be attached to a charger all day.
Not sure if it's an issue that carries over with my Google backup, next time I try, I might just do a fresh start and install apps one by one to see if/when it starts.
