Hey.
I got a mobile broadband the other day and want help saving as much data as possible. What's a good browser to use mainly that doesn't load flash images all that. Or even one that gives me the option to load images.

Anyone

Pretty much any of the third party browsers will have these options. I know dolphin has the option to not load plugins without telling it you want to run it.
I would check out the browser thread and find some browsers you like then install them and try them.
If you ask 20 people what browser is best you will get at least 18 different answers or reasons why. It all depends on your personal preference.
Not running flash on jellybean should be much easier than running flash.

opera
opera mini browser is my best recommendation

I never had this problem on my aria using skyfire. Is there a setting I need to change?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
The setting your looking for is called "User Agent", set it to desktop if you don't want any mobile sites. I'm not sure why yours random started going to them but that's the setting for it.
Another thing that I find annoying is the fact that going to say fox.com to watch fringe skyfire won't load any video at all, just tried it on my liberated aria and it works with out a problem? I have only had the atrix 2 days, and I'm seriously disappointed. I think I might flip to a inspire by friday.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Its not random starting, I meant it just pushes me into mobile sites even if I choose the regular site. I'm just really disappointed with this phone. I really don't see much of a difference between the speed of this phone and my aria.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
the issue is most likely a skyfire compatibility issue with your phone, the market comments several phones having the same issue. However, my question would be if you are running 2.2 and can install flash, why do you need skyfire?
And seriously? after 2 days use you are ready to say it is not much better than a phone whose maximum overclock is 800mhz and has less than half the available RAM, much less a comprable screen? Give the very capable developers time, as well as motorola, to show you what kind of phone you have.
Its all little disheartening when the developers are starting to give up like Dg for one.
On the browser issue. I don't like the fact that I'm am supposedly using the most powerful phone but am restricted to using mobile sites. The stock browser yahoo mobile. And I can't find the user client option for the stock browser. I have skyfire set to desk top and that one is still taking me to mobile sites.
The inspire is looking better by the moment, I just don't like how big it is.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
lol switch to the inspire, test it out.
I guarantee you'll subtly switch back to the atrix and start posting back here in no time.
Where are the user client settings for the stock browser. I can't find them.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
By default I don't think you can change the user client of the stock browser. Try Miren Browser, Opera, Dolphin HD or Firefox. All are great browsers.
you're going to be pretty pissed off when you realize how much slower the inspire is, and how bad it's battery is. The atrix, like any product carries some buyers remorse
I just watched fringe on fox.com using Dolphin HD... No problems..
Never had a problem with Dolphin HD kicking me to a mobile page either..
I'll try dolphin out.thanks
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Oh that depends on why browser you're using, not the phone itself. If you want something free, get Dolphin Mini browser.
If you want something a little faster, xScope 6 is awesome and I love it.

In the stock browser enter "about:debug"... This will allow changing ua strings...

No but I'm trying Firefox beta and Dolphin at the moment, liking Firefox best so far which surprises me, dumped it on my PC a few years back..

I have same prob with Firefox it can't remember where I was at on page when I hit back.

Always a Opera Mobile fan!!
I'll try maxthon though just for experience..
I tried it the other day, don't remember why I didn't like it... but dropped it for Boat-mini (for flash only).. I use Chrome 95% of the time, it seems to render/pinch-zoom, better than others. Only one I found that pinch-zooms (or double tap) on most mobile pages flawlessly.
I'm always a bit weary when applications begin or become to offer all kinds of bundles and addons - I felt that way with maxthon.
Apart from stock browser, I've been somewhat partial to Boat Browser and still like Opera on occasion (as my desktop user agent go to on mobile). I used Dolphin HD for a while, but I really didn't need the extra features (sonar and gestures) and addons growing from them.
I'm not sure however if Boat browser had advertisements - I've always used AdAway from Google Play (requires root) and never noticed anything blatantly obvious.

Don't think this has been made yet... Hope it's okay!
Which browser? Why?
I use AOSP right now because it feels quicker than Chrome, but I miss my bookmarks.
Boat browser, because it has flash support!
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Next browser. It feels a tiny bit faster than the Chrome browser + I like it's Icon
Chrome Beta because it's gestures to change tabs is good and sync to chrome on desktop function is useful!

I use chrome as my main browser. However I find myself also using the stock android browser as its pretty nice too.

Dolphin
I recently read that in the AOSP browser, all the saved data is in plaintext. Switched to chrome after that.
Maybe im a bit paranoid, but thats ok
A. Chrome because of the syncing.
B. Can I install the old stock browser on unrooted android? I don't use it much but Id like it back for the, even if limited, flash support.

Habit Browser. It has a lot of features. (e.g. changing tabs with gesture, quick menues, flash support etc.)
I have chrome of course, opera, Firefox, and Dolphin. I like to use all of them. I have to say I really like the gesture bookmarks in Dolphin. That one may be the one I use most currently. But I am testing a lot of them.

I don't follow what you are saying. Any app that stores passwords locally even encrypted with a key is not secure on rooted devices since all they need is the encryption key. My guess is Google does this on purpose since obfuscation would just make people think it is secure without it actually being secure.

(logic dictates that) An app that stores passwords with an encryption key would not make that key easily available to other apps. Maybe im wrong and even encryption stored passwords are easily accessed. Makes me all the more thankful for PDroid.
Chrome of course! Simple and fast. I like stock browser too. Tried next browser and I really liked it. For simplicity, speed, and just everyday surfing chrome for me hands down!

I noticed about 4 months ago, Chrome on my S3 didn't like XDA.... So I used Firefox with no issues.
Then I had a LG Optimus G Pro (for about 1 week) with same results, so I used Firefox.
On my HTC One, neither Chrome or Firefox works on XDA, only the stock browser worked.
Now on my S4, I've tried all three and none of them work?
The page will load....... I can log in, but every time I scroll, the page reloads, which basically makes it unusable now...... Anybody else run into this problem?
Perhaps they are trying to get everyone to Tapatalk. It's a very good app.

yup. Same issue here. I have about given up using my phone to browse XDA. I really dont want to buy an app just to browse an internet forum....
I found a free XDA app in the play store that'll work, you might give it a try?

I use the xda app its a really good app. I don't really like going on the site through mobile and having to make the page bigger it seems to be slower on webpages also.

I use the xda app most of the time but dont have any issues using firefox or the stock browser to view it either?

I'm looking to load flash on my phone. I downloaded the app but it still won't work on any browsers is there a way to get this to work?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I think flash will only work with Firefox or puffin. It won't work with chrome. There might be another browser too
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
I managed to get it working with Firefox by following the instructions at the link below. I don't think it was working with chrome but I wasn't really looking for that. Puffin is still a better solution though as the quality of the flash in Firefox wasn't the best. Flashfox is another alternative but again it isn't as good as puffin.

OK so the best flash representation that I've found, running remote desktop over VPN then using a desktop browser.
