This knowledge comes after talking to 5 different T-Mobile reps.
The steps to get the subisidized price if you are a 22+ month "good standing" customer with a Family Plan of any kind (legacy, myFaves, Even More, etc):
If you have a Family Plan (myFaves, Even More, etc.) you *must* split all the lines on the Family Plan off to individual Even More plans. T-Mobile doesn't allow one person to have multiple types of lines on the same account, and doesn't allow one person to have multiple accounts.
Wait 2-3** hours for Google's system to replicate account data from T-Mobile. **estimated
Now that all your lines are on individual plans, you can use the steps on Google's site to modify an existing individual plan and then upgrade your phone.
Once you have received and activated your new phone on your existing number, it will convert your plan to the $80/mo Even More plan.
At this point you can call T-Mobile and have them add all your lines to an Even More Family Plan (not the Even More Plus Family Plan).
And if all this fails, she gave me HTC's support phone number: 888-216-4736
UPDATE: It appears I was a bit hasty in writing my guide. The steps above actually lead you to be able to upgrade your existing line with a $150 discount on the Nexus One, dropping the price from $529 to $379. To get the $179 pricing, you must select "Add a new individual line of service with a new number to my T-Mobile account." This will add a new line to your T-Mobile account, which you can then add back to your Family Plan, and remove your old line.
UPDATE #2: Google is now issuing a $100 refund if you went through this process and bought the Nexus One using the "upgrade" option for an individual plan to get the price of $379. That brings your cost to $279. I thought Google folks were supposedly good at math? :O
UPDATE #3: After all this nonsense, I found out today from T-Mobile that step #5 DOES NOT WORK the way they told me it would. You can't just call them and have them add all your lines to a Family Plan. Doing so within 120 days of your Nexus purchase will cause you to pay an ETF to Google, equal to the price difference between the $179 price and the $529 price.
My journey:
I started with 3 lines on a MyFaves 1200 Family Plan and was paying about $190-200 a month. I split this into 3 Even More 500 lines with Android data on 2 of the lines (my wife inherited my G1). Total cost per month at this point was roughly $200 still ($49.99 x 3 plus tax). I then bought the Nexus One for $179 ($229 with tax), which added a 4th Even More line for another $80/mo. Total cost per month now at $280ish.
Now, at this point I could have cancelled one of my out-of-contract lines, saving $49.99/mo for that line, dropping the monthly down to about $240/mo for my 2 old lines + the 1 new line from Google (3 lines total).
Instead, I cancelled the Google line, dropping the monthly back down to $200/mo, retaining out-of-contract status on all 3 lines, and eating the $350 that Google will charge me now. Had I kept their line for another 120 days though, that's 4x$40=$160 to keep that subsidized price, plus I am committed for another 2 years. At the same time, we are now signed up for the Even More Family 1500 plan with unlimited text/data/tmo-to-tmo/nights&weekends.
So at this point, I have the option (if I can explain all this math to my wife), of just buying her an unsubsidized phone upgrade for her and the other person on our plan, and drop to an Even More Plus 1500 Family Plan, which would cost us $125+tax/mo, for a total of about $150/mo. So basically in a year's time, we will have saved $600 on our phone bill, and that will buy each of them a very nice phone. Wish me luck explaining this to her.
Sorry to get everyone's hopes up. I think Google has shown that they can f*ck things up as bad as any big company out there (at least on a first try). Hopefully they will learn from it, and/or HTC will get into direct handset sales instead (like they should have this time anyways).
MORAL OF THE STORY: Save your pennies and just buy the effing thing unsubsidized. That or don't have family. Your choice.
FYI- 888-216-4736 is HTC's number
Cheers,
Kermee
Good to know. Now totally worthless, as they seemed to know less about it than Google.
As much as I hope this works even though I paid full price already and have a family plan, sounds like a lot of bull**** to go through lol... honestly, i have no problem shelling out 530 for a product of high quality and to a company that isnt all "me me me" (fu apple)... I am still a part of my parents account and i know my father would not want to deal with splitting the plan then jumping through all the hoops haha so im going to suck it up...
good luck to anyone who tries this though!
Everything is correct.
One minor thing is that if you change the plan to the Even More for 39.99 and don't add SMS and Data (10.00 + 30.00) for line ordering Nexus One, you will get a different prices from the $179.99. I have heard $279.99 and other prices.
After you have received your upgrade price of $179.99 call T-mobile and have them place you on an Even More Family plan of your choice (750, 1500, Unl) The line(s) that ordered handset will require the $30.00 data for duration of contract. Good Luck.
Feel free to ask any other Q's.
If I was to buy the N1 from Google unsubsidized, is it possible for me to continue using the plan I have without having to switch to that $80 plan? I'm on the Even More Plus Family plan btw.

yes, that is the point of an unsubsidized phone, no contract binds
i am in the same exact boat as you, got a family plan, bought a phone (well worth the money) and now im happy
I went through this exact process to get the phone at $279. Make sure to remove any text or web/data addon ons on your plan as this will make the system only offer you the 379 pricing

If you buy the unsubsidized phone, you don't have to even take it to T-Mobile. You could take it to AT&T and suffer with EDGE/GPRS data speeds, or Canada on Rogers (the HSDPA frequencies are the same as TMO).
Here's how I *wish* this had been handled.
T-Mobile should have issued coupon codes to customers in good standing 22+ months, regardless of Family or Individual Plan. When they issue the coupon code, your account re-ups for 2 more years, and the coupon works on Google's site to discount $150 for upgrades. That would have solved the whole mess.
Google, if you're reading this, PM me for job offers.

This works if the number you have doesn't have Android Data (mine did) which is required by TMO for Android phones.
You would have to go into account management and remove the stuff yourself after you told the system you're using a different handset (like the older Dash or something). Kinda like the process we used to follow to get $4.99/mo internet on the Dash.
so is it possible to skip 5 and 6 and just keep a individual plan?
because at the moment im on a family plan and are in good standing with tmo (had them since voicestream) but im moving out on my own and starting my own life since ive started college and want bills in my name on my own line.
so could i split my line from the plan upgrade it and just do the 80 dollar even more plan with them? while still getting the 179 upgrade?

I'm not sure about the 179 upgrade, but as for your family plan problem, I would suggest staying with the same account, just give the person that pays for the bill some money every month for your part of the bill. I do that with my cousin, so since our bill is $120 I only need to pay $60
family plan
idk if someone else has asked this but does anyone kno of a way to get the nexus one for 180 on tmobile on a family plan? without buying it for 500 somthing>?

first of all this is the wrong thread place. this is
nexus one android development
now to answer your question
i believe you must get the special 70$ unlimited plan to be eligible for the upgrade
Please post in the correct place. This is for development.
Mods please move thread Tehran just reg nexus thread is where this belongs on development post come here
Any way. You need to have a line that is past 24 months and out of contract. Then seperate that line from family plan. Give it 2 days to reflect and then should get that price. Family lines are not eligible at all. Info is on Google's page.
Here is my question. I current have service with VZW. There tech support has finally pi**ed me off. They refused to replace my Tour that you cant hear on every other call not to mention the horrible vibration alert. So I have decided to say BYE-BYE to big red. I have read places on the net that you should be able to by new service on T-Mo with N1 on the single plan of course. Wait a few hours and then move it to a Family plan.
Is this possible for a new customer? I prefer not to dump $530 on a phone now but will if I have to. My other option is a MT which will be no issue. A coworker says go all in with Nexus. I agree the Snapdragon processor will be the difference. Thanks for the help. Cant wait for Jan 29 to move to a real from and leave Blackberry behind. I miss my modding days with my XV6800.

$10 web2go doesn't work on android (plz correct me if I'm wrong I tried everything to get it to work) I Cannot Afford the 30 dollar data plan for android.
I read on some forums there is a perffered internet plan that is 20 dollars and available to customers of over 2 years. When I called up t-mobile they stated there was no such thing and its only 30 bucks... is it possible to get it cheaper the 30 bucks or get web2go on my vibrant I really need this even if it isn't an unlimited plan.
Sorry if I am repeating this thread I don't know is I am posting in the correct category
SOLVED!!!
OH YES I JUST GOT THE 20$ PLAN!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS FORUM I DID IT EXACTLY LIKE THE SECOND POST SAID.
1.call 611 and say cancel services to the automated bot.
2.give the info needed to the bot
3.when the representetive will pick up tell them that you just got a new plan with the phone you have (i said vibrant) and tell them you are considering canceling your account because its way to expensive for you to pay 30$ even though i like the vibrant. Make excuses if they keep asking you questions but most likely the RP will say that they could offer you a discount and let you have it for 20$. AMAZING!

When you call, go to the retentions department, say "cancel account" on the automated system it will take you directly there, tell, don't ask the rep that you want the $20 web plan. If you're lucky he will be nice enough to give it to you based on your loyalty as a customer, if he doesn't give it to you try a different one.
I got the $20 plan for both my lines on the first try.
good luck

Call T-Mo (611) and ask for retentions or say you want to cancel your plan (which will take you to retentions). They are the only ones that can get you the $20 data plan (from what I've read).
Speak to someone in the contracts dept, not tech support. They will hook you right up.

I have 2 lines under the old android unlimited data/unlimited text for $34.99. Last time I talked to retention last week they said that was still the cheapest way to go .
My wife and I have been T-Mo customers for 8 years. I have a Vibrant, she has a Nexus. We called a couple of months ago, just to speak with retention about our data plans. They got us on the preferred data plan at $20 a line, unlimited family messaging for $9.99 and 600 shared anytime minutes. All total, $92.00. We obviously still get the free nights and weekends and mobile to mobile. $92.00 is not bad for two android phones with unlimited messaging and data. Most of the people we call are on T-Mo as well, so that works out too!
Call and talk to retention, no one in a retail store can do it for you.
I've been a T-Mo customer for 8 years, too. A couple years ago I was using their [email protected] service. They discontinued that service but called me up and offered me unlimited voice at the loyal customer rate instead. Last month I bought the Vibrant and they gave me the loyal customer data plan without even asking. I'm paying $75/mo for unlimited voice, unlimited data and 400 free TMs. I am a happy camper, and it has kept me from going to AT&T for an iPhone.
I wish I would have been able to get a better plan, instead I moved to EM+ and can't go back... =(

I'm paying $190 with taxes for 2 android phones with unlimted data, text and minutes.
I'm paying $65 a month for 1000 minutes, unlimited data, and no TMs ($40 for the 1000 minutes plan, +$25 for the unlimited android data add-on). Works fine for me, and I've got a GVoice number, with the GVoice app on my phone, so I can actually receive TMs through that number with the app.
Not sure when but TMobile will be rolling out new options and doing away with flex pay. Will still have same features SS flex pay but also offer cheaper data plans like at&t. Fight now you're stuck with $30 because you wanted the best phone. You want a cheaper data plan downgrade your phone or get rid of text to save and have your friends IM you or email.

I just left the store and they said on the 15th of nov that a 15 dollar 200mb plan would be available for most android devices. The 200mb acts differently for each account type. I have also seen this mentioned on several sites.
http://www.tmonews.com/2010/11/t-mobile-adding-data-plan-to-new-data-lineup/
Just spoke to them yesterday, I was asking about canceling my upgrade. Rep quickly offered $20 data + $10 sms. Plus I kept the myFaves I had grandfathered. So my bill only went up $5. Not bad.

Our "after-tax" total is about $106 for 2 android phones with unlimited data, unlimited texts and 600 shared minutes, free nights and weekends, free mobile to mobile. We don't call a whole lot of numbers that aren't T-Mo, so we don't ever use all the minutes.
Our "Family-time" text package is grandfathered in from back in the day. Unlimited text, pic and voice messaging for ALL lines on our account - $9.99 total, regardless of number of lines.

nice, in all reality we don't use that many minutes, her more than I as I work from home and text all day. I have a land line and a company line I can also use also to make calls out. I need to double check but I thin I pay like $79 for unlimited minutes so the next plan down only saves me like $5 or $10 a month if I remember correctly.

Is that $65 after taxes? Also, is ti contract or not? I had just Unlimited Data last month hoping I could get SIP/VOIP working on my phone but I eventually decided to get minutes so I can use for work. They gave me 500 minutes and I was told my bill would be $65. If I can get a little more cheaper I would be happy.

You guys know T-Mobile employees troll all these popular forums. I'm not talking about store employees who are members here. I'm talking about executive services, people high up at T-mo troll the forums, especially during new phone release dates, and I'm sure the more people advertise how to call and "pretend" to cancel, is going to eventually hurt the real loyal customer who is honestly considering to cancel.
I've actually had a rep I started conversation with on the phone, admit they visit these forums and read what people write. Just saying, if we want loyalty to continue for real loyal customers. Those who pay on time every month, for years, then we shouldn't be posting how to trick T-Mo. At the end it hurts people who have been with T-Mo for several years as loyal faithful customers.

Didn't work for me.. The rep said down at the bottom, that the phone number that is being offered the promo is listed but its blank in the link. Apparently VZW is locking down on who they are offering this to.
It is only available for people who aren't under contract with Verizon at this time. I just spoke to a CSR rep and tried to get him to extend my contract under the terms in the link but since I am still under contract with Verizon for 2 years they wont offer it to me. Worth a shot though, bummer.
Not so much
Sounds good, and saving money is saving money, but this would be somewhere around $5.00 discount for those of us on the $39.99 450 minute plan, 29.99 data plan, and $5.00 (that's the saving part) texting plan. Wouldn't lose sleep over the link not working.
This worked for me a few days ago and I just opened my account in the summer on contract. Had to call the 877 number for sure though because regular customer service kept giving me the runaround.
With work discount, comes to $59.49 a month before taxes.
I'm all over this. $55 month with my work discount.

Here's what the deal really is:
It's the exact same prices as normal Talk and Text plans, either single line or family plan (700 minute family plan isn't offered- have to get at least 1400), except every line has to get the $30 unlimited data plan, but then each line automatically gets a $20 bill credit per month, leaving you paying $10 for unlimited data per line. It only saves you money if you have a better-than 1:3 ratio of smartphones:total lines on your account. Example: 1 single line that has a smartphone is a 1:1 ratio so they save money. 1 smartphone on a 2-line family plan is a 1:2 ratio so they save money. 1 smartphone on a 3-line family plan breaks even, etc.
It's only supposed to be given to customers who got the email about it- they can look up all promotional material that's been sent to you and verify that you received it so this is definitely YMMV. There's a pretty nice thread going on over at SlickDeals that I've been posting a lot in- lots of success stories and ways to help you get it, etc.- check it out..

I just signed my new contract this march. Called last week on this and they hooked me up with the family line. Added the unlimited text and saved $30 a month so worked for me.
Also the 1400 family plan still has friends and family...

I'm going to call and let them do that math. I have an NE2 due. Maybe I'll try and leverage that.

The math would be:
$110 primary line - $18.70 discount = $91.30
$10 data plan
-----------------------------
$101.30
$10 2nd line
$10 data plan
-----------------------------
$121.30
$10 3rd line
$10 data plan
------------------------------
$141.30
$10 4th line
$10 data plan
------------------------------
$161.30 plus tax and extras for 4 lines
Not sure what you mean by $5 unlimited text so I can't tell you what you're paying now, so you may or may not be saving money depending on what texting package(s) you have..

It worked for me and I just started my service on Friday I called and told the that I saw the add and was wondering if I could get it and that I just started my service on Friday and they said that I could and they said as long as I kept the same plan I would get the discount till the promotion ran out in 2035
I called the 877 number, tried to get the deal today and was told that it was only for those that received the email.
I signed my first contract with verizon back in august. Got my plan changed to this in under 5 minutes. I did go with the 1400 plan, and had to pay an extra 20 for a third line. But I still saved $30 a month and added data to my third line.
I did not recieve the promo email either...
Just got the deal. I did not receive the email.

Call again. I called this morning and the first guy told me I wasn't eligible. I called 5 minutes later and got some girl, and it wasn't hard to convince her to let me in on the deal.
I have a two lines both with DINC's, with my 20% work discount I am only paying $118 before taxes. That's less than $60 per phone!! Heck yeah...
FWIW, I am still 17 months away from the end of my contract and I did NOT recieve the email. I called and it was without a doubt the SMOOTHEST FASTEST interaction I've EVER had with VZW CS. To put that in perspective, my dogs have fled the room when I've called them in the past. 10 minutes later I logged on and all changes were shown.
So ... I've been with VZW for years, though I doubt I'm special in that regard, and I got this deal no fuss no muss. Perhaps I was sent the offer and it hit my spam box, but no mention about the email was made by me or the rep.
Everyone should try, and then maybe try twice.
Just tried for a second time and was again denied...
I called the day the flyer was first posted on BGR. I got the deal right away by calling the phone number. Before, I was paying 190 for 3 lines, two with data, all unlimited messaging. Now, I am paying 160 for all three lines with unlimited data and texting. This is really $60 in savings, as we would have been charged $30 bucks more a month to add data to the third line. This was a great deal.
Found this on slickdeals. Anyone heard of this before?
All new activations and add a line with 2 year contract on T-Mobile.
• 10% on qualifying monthly recurring charges
• Waived Activation Fees ($35 savings per line)
• Free 2 Day Shipping
• FREE and/or Discount Devices with new activation
Call 866-464-8662 option 3 and give promo code 13997 TMOFAV. Say you are a member of student rate if they ask
Can you apply this deal to a family plan or only one line?
is there a promo code I can use instead of calling?
your best bet is to call. you MUST state that you are a member of Student Rate in order to get these discounts.
---------- Post added at 04:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:34 PM ----------
also!! here is the phone number: 866.464.8662
and hit option 3 - - use promo code 13997TMOFAV
my stepfather just used the code, so I know it works.
ugh ok i guess i will have to call.
thanks though!!
They asked which school i go to. I blanked lol
sent from my Sensation on CM7 Alpha#10
lol you don't have to mention a school.
instead of a school you need to mention that you're getting a promo via student rate.
i decided to call and it was just above all easier to activate and receive my discounts over the phone.
i was also able to confirm that i was getting a discounted phone as well as a discounted monthly bill.
your best bet is to just call instead of trying to obtain the discounts online.
this is an awesome promo for the fact that you can apply the discount over the phone.
more deals should be put out this way so people feel more comfortable.
there might be a limitation on the number of lines you can apply the discount to, but i know you can.
Please don't use T-Mobile. 5 months of living hell with T-Mo for me. they broke my contract many times
Yea? Ive been with tmo since 2004. They have been great.

I don't know if that's the discount I got but I combined two accounts into a family plan and got a free GS2 for the line I merged into my account. It wasn't due for an upgrade for 6 months. I also got a discounted family rate. I pay $120 for my account. 1000 anytime shared + $20 Android 5gb per line and unlimited texting = $120
Great deal. Gave my Sensation to my wife and got the GS2. Took a few phone calls and I was ready to move to Sprint but I finally got a Loyalty supervisor who earned my business. My bill still says I owe $600+ since they haven't removed the phone charge yet. If you can handle the bull**** TMo is the best.
Thats about what i pay. $125. That includes $15 per line for a g2x and sensation. $30 of which is phone payments

Are you on that new unsubsidized phone - lower monthly rate plan? $95 a month is pretty nice. After insurance and tax I'm up at $130 and change. Better than the appx $160 I was paying separately.
Well i have a sensation mine, g2x is the girls. We both financed the phones so thats $15 a month per phone. She gets 2gb of data for $10. I get 5gb for $25. 1000 whenever shared and unlimited txting. Its $125 and some change but after the phones are paid off our bill will be really cheap. Its a good plan in my opinion. Service is great ect ect

I was with them for 7 years. Added a line, they took away my Fave5s, gave me Truly Unlim on all 3 lines, but on the one that talked the most on the phone... they only had 500 mins and we were still charged the quoted $170 + fees for the overage on minutes. Then we called, complained, they said it was fixed and apologized. Okay, next bill, it's even MORE expensive! We call, complain, rinse, repeat, and since they had broken our contract, we called, asked for waived etfs... 2 months later, a letter came in the mail and basically said "We don't feel we did any wrong, so you have to pay the $600 in ETFs." I was really furious at this point. Basically I lost over $1000 to this company.
Wow. Thats ridic. Ive never ever been overcharged with tmobile. They have been nothing but perfect.

I wouldn't settle for that $1k. Take them to small claims court.
I've had tons of bs with T-Mo in regard to billing. Take this month. My bill is $675. They still charged me for the free phone. Supposedly that was to be taken off on Feb 6th. Nobody told me that until I called wondering why my bill was wrong again. In the past year my bill has been wrong 9 months. When I bought my Sensation they screwed up the payments every month for 6 months in a row. Every month my bill was $400 and change and I had to call up and go through bs for 30 minutes to an hour.
And see this is why I probably will just move to Sprint. Tmobile is totally inept. It's now the 8th and nobody has fixed my bill. I call up and the moron on the phone can't even read the notes. I tell her the relevant dates. She puts me on hold and comes back and says it doesn't say anywhere that the phone was free and that they can't remove the charge. These ****ing idiots make me sick. I'm right to the point where I would pay more to get better service. I won't pay a cent to cancel this contract either. I will gladly sue them in small claims court for fraud. smh
Of course all departments shut down their lines before she transferred me to cancellations.
I hate these people. Now for 30 more stories from 30 different morons at Tmo. I will record my calls and just sue them. It will probably be less time suing them in small claims court than trying to find a person with a living brain cell in their call center. Pathetic.
I just signed up for the free 1 yr unlimited deal with Sprint porting over my Xfinity Mobile number. Anyone else going to dive into that as well? Great deal if Sprint works even just ok in your areas... lol My only concern is that the Sprint sim may lock my phone which is unlocked and bought direct from Essential. Read some horror stories here about unlocked phones being locked to Sprint after putting in a Sprint sim.
I started up my free Sprint line last June. It's definitely worth it for the price (you pay taxes-only.) I also used this free line to get the $150 Essential Phone.
Either way, it comes with 10 GB hotspot which is incredibly useful!
Yup, can't wait to try. And I missed a $150 PH-1 deal?? Lol
Where did you learn this? I feel like I take in a lot of media, LOL- but I've never read where Sprint is doing this. They'd have to pay me, but still- free is free.

I did this late last year, and Sprint is just horrible in the northeast. I still have the line active since it's free, but I'm back on Verizon.
I am still waiting out my unlock (10 more days!) for my essential phone. Does anyone know if I could switch to this free plan for the remainder. Probably save like 10 bucks doing it...

Unfortunately, it's for new BYOD activations/port-ins only. If you have a family member or friend who is interested in the free line, they could create a new account, get the free service, and port you in under their account (each line will need to bring an existing Sprint-compatible phone with it). The service is technically $5/month, -$5 for autopay, +$3-4 for taxes and fees. (My bill is about $4.30 each month).
I did the same as Ascertion above, and got the line back in July. I picked up the Essential for the great price, but it lead to a 2 week nightmare of trying to get my account fixed after the in-store rep screwed up my account and took me off the free plan. Eventually got it fixed thanks to someone in the corporate office.
The terms of service state you can get a phone lease/upgrade after 3 months on the service. BUT in the fine print, it says the upgrade/lease must be done online (cannot be done in-store, or you'll lose the plan for good).

Thanks for this information.
Had a horrible experience trying to port in. For those on Xfinity Mobile, use your Xfinity Mobile # acct (can be found in their mobile app) and the last 4 digits of your phone number for the pin. Tried the 0000 pin but that didn't work. And Sprint is horrible, at home I'm at 1x800... whatever tech that is... haven't gone out yet but will do a ton of speedtest whenever I remember since it's unlimited data... Lol
I'm on this plan now since July. They put these lines on very low priority. Even though you have full LTE, webpages still take 30 seconds to load... Call quality is terrible too. I would only advise getting this plan if you have access to WiFi all day. I went on a road trip recently, and I couldn't use any apps outside of Spotify, because everything took so long to load and the latency was terrible! You definitely get what you pay for with this...
I was on a $30 prepaid before this, and that was 100% better. I may have had 5GB of data with prepaid, but at least I could use my data.... I'm jumping ship as soon as my phone's unlocked.
I've only had it for one day and I concur. Lol. I'm lucky if I get even 5Mbps. Upload is almost non-existent. Not my main line so I'm fine with it and i figured that was the case so i was prepared lol.
Been on Sprint since July as well, fortunately service is great in and around Columbus, Ohio. I've had over 100 Mbps in certain areas, 25 Mbps average I would say. Got in on the Essential lease for $5 x 18 with $30 payoff, 5 lines with the $5 lease payment is $19.43 including tax per month. I was paying $26 including tax per line on T-Mobile each month.
Coming from T-Mobile, I miss being able to swap my SIM card into a different phone on the fly, and I did have to buy a few Sprint compatible phones to take advantage of the deal. I will still save $250 over T-Mobile at the end of 12 months including the cost of the phones.
Overall I have been pleased with the free BYOD plan, I will likely port out and back in using a different SSN if the plan is still available in July 2018.

I'm thinking of making the switch to sprint free unlimited (currently Cricket $30x3 lines also pre-paid 5GB which works great) but my nexus 5x just died so was looking maybe at the essential (or Moto X4) to not be locked and switch around. Good to know that maybe not worth... too good to be only $4-5, right ?
Sprint is garbage in most of the areas I'm in so even if it's for a few bucks, I'd rather pay for Xfinity mobile. Unlimited means nothing if you're not getting even 5Mbps on avg like I am. Lol. It's just that bad but again if Sprint is good where you are, then totally worth it. There's no contract so you could always go to something else later.
