Is there a way of creating a shortcut on my homescreen to a folder located on my SD card? I did a bit of research and the Astro File Manager solution does not seem to work for me. Is there another way?
"ES File Explorer" app will allow you to create a shortcut. Select the Dir and a sub menu will list several options, one being "shortcut"

Yes but unlike ES File Explorer you can not create a Shortcut, which is a shame as Solid Explorer has now become my favourite file manager over ESE.

I've learnt that the one of HTC Home Plugin's Launcher icons opens the Program folder using the folderview.exe that was installed as part of the Home plugin stuff. So I have this app and I tried to make more use of it.
I've created a new 'Tools' folder (for CearTemp, SK Tools, Oxios and other system-maintaining progs) within 'Windows\Start Menu\Programs' folder. Than I made a shortcut for folderview.exe + path and put it into the Launcher tab of HTC Home Plugin, but I can't force folderview.exe to open other folder than Programs. I tried to edit the link, adding the path in diferent ways as a parameter, but no success...
Do somebody know this app is exclusively for opening Programs or there is a way to open other given folder with it?
Thanks in advance,
I am trying to do the same sort of thing I think. I am trying to add the "check battery" program so to speak into the laucher but haven't had any luck as of yet . . .

How do you make folderview to open "Programs" ? Each time I run folderview it took me to "Start Menu" with "Programs" icon only. When I click on "Programs", I got an empty folder ??

Yes, thanks, but what if I'd like to open the '\Windows\Start Menu\Games' folder with Folderview.exe? Is it possible to create a shortcut directly for a sub-folder?
cheers,

Has anyone found an answer on how to open settings folder with folderview.exe?
You can open the Settings folder with "Control.exe" which you can download here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333237

Just create a shortcut in Windows/Start Menu/
You can use Total Commander, Resco Explorer or a number of other tools for this.

You mean the program tab on TF3D?
To do so, you need the shortcut within /windows/startmenu/programs first... than you can add it...

i only have "Sam & max hit the road" and "Day of Tentacle"
In file explorer long-click select the .exe file, select copy, then browse to /windows/startmenu/programs/ and select paste as shortcut from the menu. You can then rename it to whatever you like and also add it to tf3d program tab.
awsome thanks for the help
This is my first post so please be nice!!!
I have an app that I copied accross to my HD which I can run from file explorer, but as it doesn't apear in the 'All Programs' list I can't add a shortcut to it on the Programs screen.
How do I add an app to the Programs screen that hasn't been installed in the conventional way?
Love you all btw.
Toni.
Click and hold on the app and then select copy. Then move to windows\programs and paste it as a short cut.
Then the app should appear in the list of available programs.
That didn't work...
Any other ides?
I had this prob with an app. find the exe in explorer on the phone, edit-copy it. then go to device-windows-start menu-programmes, then paste shortcut. That should make it show up on programmes and allow you to add it to the programmes tab too.
YAY!
You da man, as they say.
Thankyou.
No problem mate, glad to be able to help! It is after all what forums are really about
Is there a way to create folders on the home screen like 2.X?
I have the same question. For the life of me I can't figure out how to make a folder. As a work around I downloaded "Group My Apps" from the Market as a work around until somebody tells me how to make a folder.
I am using folder organizer. Icons are still somewhat small for the screen but its a good alternative

In honeycomb there is no folders option after long press. Least not that I see.
Looking for an application similar to HTC Folderview.exe or FingerFolderds
Would like it to be finger friendly and scrollable like Win 6.5 Start Menu.
Also to be able to drill down to sub folders.
Whatever files are in the folder these can be presented as launchable icons.
Plapic have you tried Total Commander http://tcce.s3.amazonaws.com/b3/cabs.htm its finger friendly and scrollable.

I have Resco File Explorer already installed and its not quite what I'm after. I was after something much simplier that behaves like a menu.
Try XTask; it does what you want. You can either use it as a start menu replacement (with Edit functions) or just use the file manager.

Not after replacing Start Menu but mimicing it. I want to be able to run this with a parameter passing a folder location. If I could perhaps figure out how Start Menu is launched and if its possible to have it open a different folder instead of \Windows\Start Menu\Programs then that would be fine.
If you love an iPhone stylish interface, you should give this a try:
