MIUIAndroid vs MIUI.US - Nexus S General

What do you guys think? Which build is better? Mark at MIUIAndroid has a reputation, while MIUI.US is also not bad. Any differences between their builds? Please share your opinion(s)! Thanks
Xxx oops! accidentally beamed from my awesome NEXUS S! xxX

On the Development section MIUI.US has been added and they have stated that it much smoother than other MIUI ROMs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869369
the us version has more tweaks, and it has the miui control app, which allows you to control the tweaks

I would say you would have to test them out yourself and see which one you like the most.

real differences, anyone?
I would say you would have to test them out yourself and see which one you like the most.
Agreed. Try them both and make a personal choice. Each to their own. Everyone likes different things, just because you like it doesn't mean others will.

Let me know below what you want to see in this ROM and what you do not want to see

I will be making ROMs for the Nexus S from now on. I value stability, performance, battery life and features.
Features:
- Stable
- Performant
- Battery life equal or better
- Additional features
More information is coming soon. I will try to merge AOSP with the best of CM7 and CM9.
I will remove things that are seldomly used.
Let me know below what you want to see in this ROM and what you do not want to see. This is my first attempt on a AOSP based ROM.
Build a gingerbread ROM, no, it's not hard, google has official instructions here about building from the source code. If you want an ICS ROM it becomes more complicated since there is no AOSP branch for nexus at this time so it involves a lot of backporting and driver patches and stuff like that.

Is it hard to post in the correct section? I will say building from aosp will be pretty difficult for you if you can't search to find the answer, or post in the correct forum for that matter. Good luck.

I usually don't say nothing on here, but u don't have to be rude to the guy. He asked a simple question, and he knew where he posted his thread. If we can't come together here where the hell we supposed to come together. We are all into what we love. As matter of fact we all started out asking the same damn question. How do we build, root, and so on. So I just want you to respect that. U don't have to be harsh like that. These kinda post is what make people turn away from XDA.
That is all I have to say. Be Breezie.

It's a forum rule to not post questions in the dev forum. XDA has gone down hill in the last couple years. People like him and you are why.
This is the guide I followed a couple weeks ago to build 2.3.7 from source for the Nexus S.
AWESOME place to start as it is step by step and actually works.
http://www.tuxtopia.nl/2011/10/20/guide-building-android-2-3-7-on-ubuntu-11-10-64-bit/
You will need the following:
1. A Linux installation (64-bit Is Required) of Ubuntu 11.10.
2. More ram the merrier, faster hard drive the better. I recommend 8GB+.
You can do this in a VM but I would recommend a regular install as it'll be a lot quicker.
You will also have to download the drivers for the phone as well and extract them to the source root so they get included during the build or else your WiFi, Mobile Data, Graphics Hardware etc will not work.
http://code.google.com/android/nexus/drivers.html#crespogwk74
They should make a filter that blocks topics without a [MOD], [ROM], etc tag from being posted

what i want?.. hmm, something different. I think we have pretty much all things that we want in here. ROM development is somewhat stuck (that's why we don't really see ROM development as we first saw), nowadays we see more of new kernel development. In my opinion, AOSP ROM that we have right now pretty much stablest, fastest, most battery efficient. Something like MIUI is great, it has the best user interface but with the drastic performance reduce from AOSP (IMHO : in gaming). CM7, i don't really use it now, i can't write my opinion.
Why don't people start to make a launcher that is different, eye-candy, great usability..

Yes, me too often, so it would be useful the possibility to edit the vote casted in the poll.
What is the point of making poll and not including any or almost any GB roms? Great roms like Gigabread+, MoonROM, Crybernation, CM7 and the ones I can't remember now?
There is no point.

Won't take long to CM10-4.2 get released. I guess 4.2 uses the same base and stuff, so won't be a problem. Still, I may stick with Samsung. I love CM10 but not CM10 for i9300. Colors doesn't look good, laggy and a lot of random bugs.
Looking forward to it. Unfortunately cm10 on i9300 is beyond the team's control . If Samsung took their thumbs outta their asses and start releasing the RIGHT source and docs for Xynos, we might actually get somewhere. Its a miracle we've come this far without it.

I see a lot of people comment that Touchwiz ROMs run more smoothly than CM based builds. This is exactly the opposite of my experience. I find the Cyanogen team's work to be second to none, which is remarkable considering they're volunteering their time.

It's freaking me out a bit that my Verizon Galaxy Nexus will get a 4.2 custom ROM before my Nexus 4. WTF?
With the CM vs TW ROM debate, is there one Vanilla ROM that you think proves that theory that they run smoother and faster because I'd love to test it if there is one. I've always also felt that TW runs smoother? Maybe I'm wrong. Is LiquidSmooth a good example?

I think that comment probably did that more than anyone else's. I think it's a perfectly valid part of the discussion. I'm not suggesting we sit here and go back and forth on ROM names. But I'll ask my question in a different way. What is it about the AOSP release that's out there now that isn't working well that will be improved by this 4.2 release? Ultimately, this isn't about one ROM base vs another it's about whether AOSP can be made to work bug-free with the I9300 hardware, isn't it?

I believe it's also to do with what new FEATURES have been added to the new AOSP release and less to do with how much stability it will add (since that is dependent more on Samsung releasing the source than what AOSP has to offer in terms of stability).
Some of us would like to make use of the new features of 4.2 and not have to wait for an official Samsung update.
Having said all this, at the end of the day, that's my point of view and I don't expect everyone to agree.

c'mon dude. why the hate. miui is probably the only rom that google considers when they look for inspiration. and that says something. i havent noticed they're looking here. in some parts 4.2 is basically a holo version of miui. i am really, really impressed from what i've seen. it may not be my style (holo fanboy), but they do bring fresh ideas and creativity to the table.

especially miui v5 looks very interesting and awesome
The reason I ask is my wife and some of my customers love their iPhone. Hate the android lock screen and no notifications on lock, the fact that they would have to setup addons to receive notifications on phone, voice, and SMS, etc. After trying to help my wife move over from her iPhone to a new nexus 4, little things like this made her want her iPhone back. I used miui for awhile back on my my touch and it has all of these stock. I think its a great addition to the Eco system and would be an easier move to for iPhone users. Thoughts?

I've heard this too (but haven't tested PA myself). If anything, I'd consider PA good on looks, not so good on performance (but not terrible either). I personally would rather have something that performs great, with customization as a second priority. Rasbeanjelly works great in this regard Take the performance even further, and then you have RasSaber (updated at a slower pace compared to rbj though). The Black/Blue theme going on looks pretty nice as well (to me anyway).
