I dont see why that is necessarily the case but I won't lose sleep over it. JB seems very nexus specific in its focus. I don't see Samsung making any of their phones do extraordinary new things just by going to JB, especially when it comes to performance. They've only in the last few months managed to make the ICS roms for the Note a worthwhile download from that point of view.
I'm quite happy with ICS as a core on the note to be honest. What I don't like are some of the design problems like the notification drawer as pointed out above.
The only bad things I see from not having JB are that we will never have Google now - which is just a gimmick imho, I would probably not use it after the first week - and because they will never post the source for a JB kernel, then CM10 will never develop to its potential.

like this?it's still 4.04.

Yes thank you but that is a little disappointing!
Look at the Galaxy S3 notification drawer. That is also 4.0.4, currently but is more streamlined and has a scrollable toggle bar and a brightness bar in the drawer. Also it doesn't take up a huge amount of space with a "Settings" button.

Galaxy S3 notification drawer is very good, has a nice ui and the brightness bar looks convenient.
notification drawer of note is waste space, note has a 5.3 screen, very hard to control.

Jelly Bean has already been officially confirmed when Note 2 was unveiled.

they confirmed it (JB for Note) and this firmware is a preparation for transition to JB *i dont remember the source, but it is for sure*

This is so cool with the new interface! How long more for us international note users to get this update?

That's not entirely correct. Samsung said the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Nexus would get Jelly Bean. They also mentioned that they would test JB for a few more devices whether it was possible to update them to JB or not. Among those devices is the note. But they have never explicitely announced that the Note will get JB.

No Tuch Wiz 4 - 2.3.3 update coming next month

i had talk with a guy working in samsung he told me that there is no tuchwiz 4 for galaxy s and update is expected in april ( In europe)
Same funcations as I9000XWJV1 with bug fix
Damn, again a "had talk with a guy working in samsung he told me that" thread. Again a waste of time ;s

too bad, would really love touch wizz 4.0
i don't like the icons in touchwizz 3.0, they are to big
as tw 4 is the only real benefit of the s2 i 'd really wonder if samsung was so stupid to give it to the galaxy s users.
i'd probably fire the responsible manager as sammy marketing chief if that actually happens as user i hope for tw4 of course, cant be worse than tw3 or cm as it is atm.
I would like to try TouchWiz 4. The YouTube videos of the SGS2 seems to be very nice. TouchWiz 3 was great, but has some problems, like the homescreen is left and not in the middle.
We wont get tw4 as we are only single prossesor and that will be reason and all these mates at samsung stories starting to get boaring only fact is beta out and final will be realesed when they decide to .be content with what we have amd thats the number 1 mobile on planet that initself should suffice but we want gingerbread are we ever going to be satisfied i dout it

For that you could try gtg465x's modded touchwiz 3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822523. It has middle homescreen, adds alphabetical order of app drawer and a nice 5 columns fixed apps on the bottom. You only need a rooted device and works on stock ROMs
Are people realy taking this kinda post seriously?
Can we have an "Anti-Thanks" or "Kick" button, please?
Well i do also know around 100 people at the nordic samsung support and they have no clue when 2.3 will be out but as they say seeing that 2.2.1 did just get released again i wont expect it before the nexus s are on 2.4 lool... or like this... around summer time.

bah..tw3 or 4 are slowly and heavy ,,realy i prefer cyanogenmod..
I hear that the 2.3 will come out before Milestone 2.2.
p.s. I just a angry mob just switch from MS to I9000
Still no Gingerbread/beard so I guess we'll just have to wait until end of March/beginning of April which is just around the corner. =)

New* S3 / Note 2 Touchwiz UX + Features officially coming to S2?? Probably yes..

Friends,
The latest firmware release for Galaxy Note n7000 (LRQ) has a massive change in its interface. Samsung has released the new touchwiz interface which you see in Galaxy S3 and Note 2 along with new features like Gallery etc. as well.
Its great to see sammy bringing new touchwiz ui and features to older devices, and I am pretty sure if its happening for note, it will soon be happening for s2 as well, as both devices have so much similarity.
Full list of changelog in post #2

Compiled list of new features for Note in XXLRQ. Hopefully coming to s2 as well!
- Direct Call from S III
- Resizable Pop Up Play from Note II
- New Gallery taken directly from Note II (without Air View)
- Lockscreen Rotate to Camera from S III
- New TouchWiz Launcher taken from S III. Improves performance dramatically.
- New Setup Procedure
- New Backup to Samsung Account (SMS etc)
- new launcher (like the Galaxy S3)
- new gallery with fancy 3D effects
- new contact list
- pop-up video can now be resized
- slightly changed contact list layout
- you can now save contacts in the S-Clound (like google contacts)
- performance improved!
- added S-Cloud (there is no dedicated App but after flashing you will be asked if you want to sycn all your settings with samsung)
- added new motion: call contact currently displayed if you raise the phone
- added bloatware (NTV, Lieferheld, ChatOn, myTaxi)
- new gallery from note 2
Hopefully currently being worked on by Samsung seen as its quieter on the 4.0.4 recently.

It would be nice if they fix the Brickbug as well... But here's to hope :victory:
Maybe this is what sammobile mentioned as the JB firmware for S2 is undergoing "heavy" development? It would be awesome if sammy releases these changes into galaxy S2 along with JB.
I think this shots are from an ICS update for Note? Why would they put so much effort to bring these changes to ICS if they are working on a JB firmware for note?

That would be super awesome, hopefully Sammy will deliver, personally, I love touchwiz over google interface.
Any word about lockscreen with shortcuts, more toggles in notification drawer, are they scrollable?

I wonder which apps aren't framework based and can be installed on top of CM10.
I'd be willing to bet the pop-up play app (which IMHO is one of the coolest features) wouldn't work =(
Its silly of them putting so much effort for 4.0.4 when people are waiting for Jelly Bean. I guess, 4.0.4 is the maximum both SGS2 & Note will get with these added features.

Sounds like the current touch wiz has some patent issues if Note got the new one. I would of thought the S2 will get it too then.

Going from ICS to JB shouldn't be too complicated, as it isn't a major update. Maybe they're just laying the groundwork out before passing to JB... Don't overspeculate.

I read a few months ago, after the GS2 was released, that the UI had some patent issues, in particular the 4 main icons in the homescreen that are present also in the iCrap.
So maybe you're right, this is a way to escape from Apple patents If so, we probably get this update soon, also because the Note has the exact same hardware, except from screen, so, there is no reason our S2 shouldn't be updated

Nice find. Thanks for posting. It has Learning Hub so that's finally being released (at least in Germany). There's still no Reader's Hub or Social Hub. It also said "pen removed" in the quick settings so its got at least one of the Note 2's features ported over. If Google Now only works in portrait mode that will suck. It was fast and fluid but it had no apps or widgets running; the real test to see if there's a difference is when we all load it up with the crap we use everyday.
Yes I am pretty much expecting us to get JB and the full Note 2.0 treatment. Reason being that Samsung will want 10.1 owners to also own the Note 2 as our phone so the devices need to be highly compatible.
Also they probably don't want to deal with 10.1 owners *****ing them out 24/7.

This is what made me question it...
I also think it'll add more value on a 3G Note than a Wi-Fi because it'll be online all the time and Google Now can collect more behavioral info. I haven't used it yet so still don't fully understand what it does, how it does it, or why I need it.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I experience the lockscreen as not smooth.
Well, it seems to affect users very randomly. There are quite a few on the forum having the "dropping wifi speed" issue, while others seem to have no wifi issues at all. And I believe there's no particular model that's more affected than others (branded, unbranded, international, etc). I've noticed the phenomenon on other web forums as well, and people are generally pretty fed up with Sammy's inability to come up with a fully working fw. Myself, I had a bit different issue when 4.1.2 was first released. The phone was most often totally unable to hook up with any wifi. After Sammy's latest fw release, that particular issue was finally adressed. However, the issue with dropping wifi speeds after random uptime, was NOT! To this day, the fw I hold in highest regards, is the initial one (4.1.1). Now I'm hoping for the 4.2.2 to be the final salvation....
We will be getting 4.2.2 in June

I don't think camera features are'pointless' just because you are not someone who shoots frequently. If you check around, majority of this who want 4.2.2 and those who bought s4 really considered the camera improvements as a major factor.

Yeah some of the features are really cool! And I much prefer the S4 interface with preview and everything.
Looking forward to the update ive played with the s4 camera its fun although the only thing i have used my camera for is submitting portals for ingress haha
