I've recently downloaded JellyBlast and wanted to flash it on my GSY. But after entering CWM, and tried to install, the following message appeared,
Code:
Opening Package
Installing Package
Installation aborted
(bad)
Something on those lines...
I'm installing it from the stock ROM.
When I flash Beats Audio it was successful.
I've cleared data/cache like 5 times and tried again and again bu no luck.
What to do?
You didn't download the full zip file...the zip file was incomplete that's why it didn't install....try downloading it again...

Hi all, I screwed up running an update to my ROM, recovered through Odin (again ha), flashed back to stock, rooted successfully, and installed Clockwork, but whenever I try flashing my ROM through ROM Manager, the phone reboots right, then gives me the "E: failed to verify whole-file signiture E: Signiture verification failed"
I just want to get back on BlackHole :\ I searched around but either people figured it out and didnt explain, or the problems variables were too far apart from mine. I have tried removing and reinstalling clockwork, and I have tried redoing the entire process to the same result.
Any insight?
I want to add that I'm not flashing Clockwork through Odin, because the files aren't available on the forum anymore. Is this the error?
You need to flash the cwrecovery.tar file, which enables you to flash zips signed with test keys. Look in the thread about flashing clockwork on win/*nix.

You're doing it right, just missing one step. Installing clockwork mod through rom manager only downloads the update.zip file for it to your sdcard, you have to flash the cwm compatible stock recovery through odin. the file can be found here:

Excellent, I figured as much but since I couldn't find it anywhere I assumed it had been changed.
BEAUTIFUL. Thank you. Looking forward to running your 3.0. I was on 1.4 or something.
I am stuck...
Ive tried installing two different ROMs on my Fascinate and get the same error when doing both and i cant figure out why.
I have tried installing the DL09 and DJ05 both getting this error:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
Esignature verification failed
Installation aborted.
The options up top are:
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
I thought that there was a way to bypass the signature but am unsure of the steps.
I have also tried uninstalling CWM and pulled the battery and then tried running both the ROMs and still got the same error...
Any ideas?
Have you flashed both parts of CWM? You need to flash it via Odin as well as use ROM Manager. The part through ROM Manager downloads the update.zip file, so you could just download the update.zip from somewhere else if you didn't want to use ROM Manager.
After that, you should be set to go. Also, you should have posted in the General section.
are you applying the update to get in cwm recovery? then going to install zip from sd card?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897889
Step 2.
Or there are many more posts/guides/questions about this in the General section. Cheers.
Did you have any success with the suggestions here or are you still stuck?

follow the link from the above poster.
0. Is your phone rooted?
1. Have you flashed the radio?
2. Have you installed clockwork rom manager?
3. You should be flashing ROM via the clockwork recovery not samsung recovery
Thread moved to Q&A.

This happens when you are coming from a stock ROM that does not have Clockwork Mod installed properly.
You need to install Clockwork Mod. You need to flash via Odin, as well as in ROM Manager. Follow these instructions in post #1:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788099
I keep getting this error message:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Copying files...
E:Failure at line 2:
copy_dir package:system SYSTEM:
Installation aborted.
This happens with any .zip I try to install in CWM. I even flashed the new CWM through ROM manager and it still won't work. I've been trying to flash a new kernel with no success, but it also won't install themes or other roms. Any advice would help because I would love to flash DL30 later today if I can get this fixed (without having to use ODIN and flash to stock). I also tried clearing the cache and nothing changed still.
Thanks.
Did you install CWM correctly? (Flashed via ODIN 1st, then through ROM Manager?)
And you are sure you are in Clockwork Recovery (green screen)??
Finally, can you open the zip file through Root Explorer? You might just have a bad .zip file, although unlikely, if you say every .zip file you tried is failing.. but just double check..
Yes I know CW worked because I've installed several roms and kernels beforehand. The problem started after I installed the Blazed v2.2 kernel by sirgatez a few days ago. I noticed a slight lag on the lockscreen so i tried to install a different kernel but can't.
samething happened to me today. i reverted back to stock and re installed every thing. you have to use odin its not that hard at all to use. just open up odin, take out battery, hold down volume down, let odin recognise it, and flash wht ever you need.
Yeah I realized that was possible I was just hoping to avoid doing that because I just wanted to re-flash a kernel for now, and possible try out Froyo later. But if no one has another solution I'll probably just flash to DL09 through Odin and go straight to DL30 from that.
I had some problems during ROM install and accidentally got my entire / deleted, so I had to flash an SBF.
I flashed some arbitrary 2.2 SBF, one I used before. Installed recovery during SndInit, and when I tried to install a ROM, it said there was an error.
I then, successfully, flashed TWRP using the same recovery, only to get the same "error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip status 0" error when trying to install CM10.2.
What can I do?
Install first a CM10 Rom to update your recovery then install CM10.2.

Isn't the latest TWRP updated enough?

First check your downloaded ZIP file if it is Ok. If you have MicroSD adapter for your computer, check ZIP on MicroSD just in your computer. In Windows/Linux GUI, this can be done by right click on the ZIP file and picking up "Verify" or something like it. This right-click-menu (ie. cascade menu) for ZIP file should be there if you have 7Zip (free) or WinRAR, WinZIP (both commercial) installed on your PC.
But it seems like you have broken partition layout, so reflash SBF. See Defy Wiki for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Motorola_Defy
Hi,
I'm at my wits end. I had SlimRom installed for a week and all was fine, but I was curious about what new ROMs were out there so I backed up my phone using ROM Manager and did all the usual stuff to get a new ROM. I installed Gummy, but didn't like it; I installed one other ROM that I can't remember its name, but also didn't like that. I realized my comfy home of SlimRom was where I wanted to be, so I tried to flash the backup.zip that I had created but it kept saying installation aborted (Status 0).
After hours of countless attempts and just weird behaviour (sometimes boot loops, sometimes not booting into recovery, etc.) I finally got my phone back to stock.
I downloaded the latest SlimRom file 3 times to make sure it wasn't a corrupt zip (twice from my PC and once from my phone directly). Both the zip directly from Slim as well as the backup.zip that I made with ROM Manager give me the same installation aborted. The other error it gives is "E: Error in /data/media/0/slim....zip". I'm wondering if somehow my partition is screwed up. I tried using Odin's repartition, which just erased my recovery partition, but I got that back thankfully! When I wipe data/factory reset it says wipe complete (and the ROM does reset to factory) but it also says "E:unknown volume '/sdcard/.android_secure' "...I'm wondering if that relates to why the backup.zip file won't read properly. Maybe the partition got screwed up somehow?
I can flash a SU zip so it's not a flashing problem, per se. And thankfully Odin always works!
I think I may need the stock PIT file for the Telus S4 l337m, which I found but my phone says "secure check fail: pit"
I'm not sure where to go from here...
Rom manager is your problem. That software I'd waaaaay out of date and rarely ever works on newer phones.
Get you goo manager. Allow SU. Then hit the menu button and then hit install openrecoveryscript. You will get TWRP recovery. Then you follow the OP of your ROM of choice to install.

Thanks for the suggestion. I used Goo but it was no help. I can flash other ROMs fine. It seems to be just SlimBean that I can't flash :s. I've used TWRP recovery as well as CW and neither work.
Any other ideas?
This is a pickle I am completely unsure about, then... I am sorry I can't be of more assistance. It does seem like the partition is borked.
