Ulearn (Website for college classes) - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I currently use ulearn for my college classes as in powerpoint attachments and just miscellaneous stuff is contained on the site but when I get on the site on my Nexus 7 it always says its running on another browser when I know its not so I was wondering if anyone who is familiar with the site and has a Nexus 7 and can tell me how to remedy this? It would be really helpful to access ulearn from my tablet. Thank you!

You might want to tell us what browser you are using and what you've tried to resolve this yourself so people can make more reasonable suggestions.

Video: How to use Nexus S to send files using NFC, just tap phones together to send!

Hi Nexus S owners,
Here's a video tutorial that describes how to send files and apps using NFC, this is the most easy way to send files between phones, all you need to to is just simply tap twp phones together.
The app we used to do this job is an amazing one called File Expert ( https://market.android.com/details?id=xcxin.filexpert ) This is the first app on the market that supports transfer files using NFC.
For someone may ask how File Expert does this job. OK, let's under the hood, technically speaking, File Expert will use NFC to auto-configure a Bluetooth connection between phones. Because all configuration data is sent by NFC, so there's NO device searching and pairing process required!!
Please see video here:
Thank you

I know that feeling. I haven't seen one Nexus S ever besides mine.
Hell, I've never ever seen a Nexus One outside of the Internet.

*Possible* EFS/NV fix -- need tester(s)!!

Hey everyone,
I may have a *possible* fix for the corrupt EFS/NV data issue.
I need some testers.
In order to qualify to test, you must meet these criteria:
- WILLING TO RISK PERMANENTLY BRICKING YOUR NEXUS S
- Advanced understanding of:
-- Android itself
-- Android's inner workings
-- the Nexus S hardware
-- multiple backup and restore procedures
-- debugging
-- adb
-- Linux shell (bash/sh) and console utilities
- good communication skills
- able to follow instructions
- running a recent build of CyanogenMod 7
- root access
- willing to install an APK
- Google Talk
- Agree to not divulging or sharing details of the procedure, as this is my work and does entail risks
If you would like to help me test, please send me an email at [email protected] and we'll get started.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Wow, great. Hope there are few people with advanced understanding of those things who are willing to help. I would like to, but my knowledge of some of those requirements is limited. Good luck, hope we will get solution for the problem!

I am lacking in the Linux ADB Shell area but TeamViewer comes in handy. Someone built a kernel for the Epic Touch working off of my computer and he's in Massachusetts ...I am in Cali. He doesn't have the phone. I hooked mine up, gave him password and he was working from ADB on my PC. Let me make sure I have a 3rd fallback phone. My Epic Touch is too good to risk using as work phone

Want to buy Nexus 7 but have some questions

Hi,
I'm quite eager to get the nexus 7. I do have a few questions though. Firstly, I'm planning to use it to word processing and some reports on the way home. The issue I have is that the nexus 7 doesn't have Polaris Office which is what I really want to use. Is there any way to get it and how do the alternativies stack up? Its essentials that I'm able to make and edit word 2007 documents. Secondly, is the screen big enough to do so? It seemed ok to me but just want people's opinions. Thirdly, I've heard its very rooter friendly but lets say I root.. Is it possible to get Polaris Office.. Also, any idea about when the free google play credit offer is till? This is something I really want. Lastly, I've heard there are going to be some keyboard cases for the nexus 7 but is there one already?
Thanks
Sean
Personally I wouldn't dream of using this thing for work. If you want a tab for working too you can't beat the Asus Transformer range in my opinion. This thing is clearly aimed at media consumption and does not lend itself to productivity.
But! That's just my opinion. Yours might differ. My advice is try one out for a couple of hours first. You might hate it, or love it.
You can buy Polaris office can't you? You also could use Google drive

You can't get it on the play store.. Also google drive is for storing stuff.. I need to use my tablet to edit stuff.. I have an S3 which has Polaris office but can't find it anywhere for the gaalxy nexus.. I seriously want it since its a bloody good software and the best out there..
Just look online for the APK or use your Google play store credit when you buy the tablet.

Google docs is built into drive now actually, so yeah you can create stuff and store stuff, as well as edit word documents from your pc

I haven't tried any office suites to edit things on the run, but I do use it regularly through the Citrix Receiver connection to our work servers, and that works well, so, unless you need larger DPIs or anything like that, it will be fine for business stuff.
Unfortunately, it seems that Polaris Office is licensed as OEM only on certain devices. So we cant provide any links to apks or anything, as it would be classed as warez.
Check out this thread h t t p://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1085173 (Sorry, still cant post links), it compares the different Android office apps.

Its not on google play... As for APK's, which is a reliable website?
Thanks
Sean
With a BT keyboard the Nexus 7 would work fine for editing documents. I'd suggest checking out Google Drive before purchasing a suite of office software, though. Give it a go on your PC and phone, see how it works for you and make a decision from there.

What's that suppose to mean? Why don't you use google play store? There's lots of free apps on there. The play store is the best feature of android. Also asking for pirated sites are against forum rules.

Just pull the apk from your S3 and move it to other devices. Profit.
I'm pretty sure I have polaris office backed up in titanium backup from my flyer, as I backed up everything, copied it to my PC, then wiped so I could send it off to the eBay buyer. Dunno how well it would work though as the flyer was honeycomb

How exactly would I do that? Sorry but I've only had android for 2 weeks lol.
Thanks
Sean
Well you'll need root access on your s3 to do it. Obtaining root is different on every device so you'll have to check the s3 forums for info on how to do that and then you'll need a file explorer such as root explorer to access the files. You'll need to navigate to system/apps and the apk file will be in there. Talk the mount button on top of the screen to mount the folder and read / write, then copy it, paste it in your sd folder, and then plug the s3 in the PC, pull the file off, and then copy it on to your sd card on your nexus 7. Disconnect, make sure "install from unknown sources" is checked in settings, and navigate to the file using a file explorer, tap on it and it should install it like any other app

Nexus 10: Control remotely over the internet?

Hello,
I got a Nexus 10 for my mom after her PC broke down. Since we are seperated by many kilometers and she has trouble to follow instruction how to fix / to do stuff on the phone I want some visual and input control.
Actually I need an app that allows me to control her tablet from long distance. I check Teamviewer Quicksupport but there you can only do screenshots, there is no full life control for the nexus 10 in Teamviewer as far as I have understood. Can anyone please recommend something? I wanted to ship the tablet on monday, so fast help is appreciated in advance.
btw. I dont care if I control the tablet from my windows pc or my nexus 4 android phone. I just need a solution. :/
Hmm, I can't seem to find an app for that either. Rare occasion I guess. What you could do is program Tasker to do a service like that for you... you'll need her tablet to be rooted. You'll need root no matter the solution.
If you don't know about Tasker it's a really nice app for developers/techy people to automate/add tweaks/features on your phone. This will be a really advanced implementation though. It's surely possible and it'd be easier for me to develop it for you than to explain it. You'll need your own web domain though. I mean one that you have for yourself, where you could place a php script.
Hopefully that helps or gives some insight at least, if you need my help I could develop that setup for you. You'll need to root her tablet yourself tho.

Say thanks if I was of help,

So there exists really no solution for that issue?
Have not tried it on a nexus 10 but I can fully remote control my note 3 using Teamviewer.

Root her Nexus and install a VNC server app. VNC Server by onecent in the Play Store worked for me (sorry can't link, too new). Then just use a client on either your phone or computer to connect. You will probably need to set up port forwarding on her router to connect remotely. Hopefully you're not too far since you'll likely have to visit her to get that and rooting done. Good luck.

iCloud Photostream

As I await the arrival of my Nexus 6p a thought occurred to me. Is it possible to view an iCloud shared photo stream with a nexus device? I did a search and found workarounds for much of the iCloud functionality but not the photo sharing. Anybody have any ideas on this?

Appreciate the folks who looked. Sounds like nobody has figured out a workaround just yet. I will keep my eyes open for it. Love the new phone BTW.

As with most things apple, short answer is no.
Not sure if theres a web link which allows you to view images.
Another option would be to remote onto your home PC / Laptop and view from there, Apple will never release anything like that for Android or allow it to happen, it'd ruin their overwhelmingly tight eco system.
Potentially it's possible but i've never heard of a way to do it, maybe it might be an idea to get rid of Apple before it becomes to big of a thing to lose, then they have you.
