you can use only defy+ builds becouse thats work on 2.3 kernels
defy builds work on froyo kernels

Updating stock ROM

Im back on stocm ROM. It shows a 16 MB update is available. I'm currently on BL6. So if I upgrade will it change to BL7? I've read that OTA updates don't affect BL. Just want to confirm

what version of android are you on ? the update might make it bl7

It could, but I don't think there is any Indian ROM featuring bl7. Try cm10 instead

could anyone from india, owning a defy+/mb526, please tell me what version of stock(GB 2.3.6) you are using or provide a screenshot of your about phone.
Just want to know which sbf to flash before i give my phone to service under warranty terms.

2.3.6 any sbf should do they don't check the version

Firstly, you have posted in the wrong section. Second, searching would bring the desired result. Anyway, you can use framaroot to root your phone.
