the third step is unlock memmory
ihave add two txt at attachment files for mount sdcard
you must have a copy of real-fat32.img from nvflash folder to the root of sdcard
open terminal type su
copy paste comands
and reboot
And all this is done, I needed a customized mode ADB on a PC connected to the tablet PC, tablet inserted into MicroSD card, and file real_fat32.img, abandoned to the root of MicroSD (see attach). So:
1. Enters the ADB (I have Win XP, I went through Start -> Run -> Cmd)
2. Run ADB - consistently serving team "ADB devices" (get the code connected device - it will not need, just confirmation. Device is connected), and "ADB shell" - to turn on the console.
3. Serve command "mount", the screen falls list mounted devices, the end will be a line like / dev/block/vold/179: 9 / mnt / microsd ..... (In fact, we need only the inscription / mnt / microsd)
4. Write the command "dd if = / mnt/microsd/real_fat32.img of = / dev/block/mmcblk0p7" (this command overwrites the disk image to 4.77 GB while a malfunctioning device / dev/block/mmcblk0p7. So we are making the proper recording of the file system on the device sdcard, which after flash unfortunately incorrect. And a self-memory sdcard becomes 4.77 GB. Dubbing lasts for some time, with no message is not displayed, but you must wait for the final completion message recording. come out on the screen something like: ... bytes transferred in ..... secs (....... bytes / sec))
5. Sdcard install command - mount-t vfat / dev/block/mmcblk0p7 / mnt / sdcard
6. Reboot your tablet.
And it's all
PS If you suddenly reboot internal memory again not read correctly - download tablet mode CWM, look in the engineering menu "format emmc" (not to be confused with the sdcard - in the engineering menu sdcard - this card MicroSD, and emmc - internal memory), and then check that the internal memory is available - consistently perform in the engineering menu command "mount emmc" and "unmount emmc" - both teams have performed well

Thanks for that.. one rom and one update in two days.. Great !
I've been trying it and except for the low memory space, this is very great ! I wil install the update as soon as it is downloaded but even without update, the rom was work quite nicely..
I've just finished downloading and installing your update.. Nice... The tablet now wake up much faster from the sleeping mode.. And it seems it boot faster as well.. Good update... Well done, really happy with it...

I never use the 3G, so i dont know if it is working.. But the camera isnt.. But to be honest, I never really used the camera on this tablet. The quality of it isnt great.... So, it wasnt a no-go for me not to have it working.. And the same goes for 3G. I'm always using wifi to connect on internet.
Honestly, i tried all he different roms that's been going on that site in the recent years, and before any ICS rom came out, i never kept any of them. After playing a little bit with them, i'd always reverted back to the stock version. There was always something i didnt like, something that bothered me... It was either the status bar, the display, the orientation problem..
But since geowolf1000 shared with us this new CM9 rom, i havent even thought once about reverted back to the old stock rom.
In my opinion, if the camera not working isnt a problem for me, just give it a try, you may like it...
The only drawback that may refrain you from flashing that rom, maybe, for the moment, the limited memory space allocated to new apps. there is only 250 Mb....
So, if you want to install large apps, it will be full quite quickly. And this is, in my opinion, the only drawback of that rom.
But like i said in another post, if you only use your tablet to surf internet, to go on youtube, read your mails, watch movies, maybe read comics, books or magazines, that rom will be a delight to use, promise.
On mine, I've install the following apps : Adobe Flash Player, Better Keyboard, Google Currents, Digi Clock widget, Dropbox, Facebook, Freecell, Maps + Street View, Mx Player and its codec, Perfect Viewer and its PDF plugin, Adobe Photoshop Touch, Solid Explorer, Wallbase, Wifiwidget and Youtube app...
And so far, I've used 200 MB and i've got 52 MB free....
i think now download problem has been fix
update with new fix

Ok, i managed to install ADB and used ADB.
I install real_fat32.img onto my SD card. And then, to the root of the internal memory - recognized asSD card on the malata -
then, I run the following command :
mount
dd if=/mnt/microsd/real_fat32.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p7
mount -t vfat /dev/block/mmcblk0p7 /mnt/sdcard
reboot
I didnt see any differences.. I even rebooted in recovery mode, Format emmc and still, no differences...
I mean, the internal memory is still recognized as SD card, and vice versa.. And still only have 250 MB for my apps..
What was it supposed to do ?
You have nvflash whyberg kernel
Download from 1page again and nvflash neuro kernel
Neuro kernel has 1.9 capacity
Follow step again
geo I've followed yours instruction and everythink is working fine. thanks!
I am wondering if we can add mounting sdcard to initr.d?
now I need to type in console:
mount -t vfat /dev/block/mmcblk0p7 /mnt/sdcard
every time I boot android.

Ooooooohhhhhh.. It goes back to normal, each time you reboot the tablet ?
Maybe that's why it wasnt working then. Because each time, I was trying to reboot the tablet but when i checked my memory, it wasnt working. There was always a problem.. I never checked my memory before reboot.. Only after rebooting and i couldnt understand why it was working...
So, tonight i'll check what happen before rebooting...
And to run the command at each reboot.. I think there may be a solution but I havent try it...
But on google play, there is an app call smanager ( it stands for Script manager ) and it is an applictaion to execute scripts at boot..
So, i think it should be possible to run the command at boot...
save line below in text file, no file extension
mount -t vfat /dev/block/mmcblk0p7 /mnt/sdcard
use play store app: "smanager" free, to run script on boot + su
Click to collapse
But I havent try yet, but i will try it tonight...
smanager is working fine
you need to create text file with lines:
#!/system/bin/sh
mount -t vfat /dev/block/mmcblk0p7 /mnt/sdcard
save and get permisions to execute.
in smanager you have to give attributes boot and su.
Just for know
Last update can be stand alone rom
Nothing change and don't need to do it again
If ever need to update again only last after kernel, now you know my rom .
You can restore
Ok

Moving Dalvik-Cache to /cache
Notes:
If you want to move the Dalvik-Cache to /cache you will needed to the following:
1. A Viewpad7 or another branded device (such as: Cherry Mobile Superion, Commtiva Linx N700, Olivepad VT-100, Spice MI700, and Camangi FM600..........)
2. Already got the root permission (For running a set of command)
3. ADB or Terminal Emulator (For running the command)
4. Root Explorer(Optional - if you have a lot of patience for typing)
Steps
1. Build a file call "install-recovery.sh" into the /etc (Path: /etc/install-recovery.sh) With 711 Permission. (Or you can build it in your computer and put it in the sdcard then copy it using Root Explorer.
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
chmod 771 /cache
2. Move your dalvik-cache and Create Symbolic Link
(You may experience some program FC (Force Close), but never mind)
Code:
mv /data/dalvik-cache /cache/dalvik-cache
ln -s /cache/dalvik-cache /data/dalvik-cache
You've done the action!
If you got a LOT of FC after move the dalvik-cache.
Please go to /(Root) to check the permission of the /cache it may be become 770.
Remarks:
I think it is able to do the same things to a SD Partition or A2SD.
However I have try it. (Because I still haven't install the Custom Recovery.)
If you have any problems. Please leave a message here.
If you want to forward this message. Please provide the source URL in your message.
DISCLAIMER: I cannot be held liable for anything you do to your Viewpad 7 (or equivalent device).
[DISCLAIMER Copy from lakehousetech thanks for your DISCLAIMER.]
Will this still works, after reboot ?
Yes It will be. The install-recovery.sh scripts will be automatically run everytime you boot up the viewpad 7

Hah same here And it works great
Could either of you guys who are using ROM Manager/Link2SD provide instructions for how you set that up? Thanks!
Edit, a few days later. Disregard, figured it out on my own. For anyone else interested...
If you're one a Windows based machine, download this, and use it to create an ext2 partition on your SD card. Personally, I copied the contents of the SD over to my computer before I did so, then copied them back after I was done. With link2sd, you can just adjust all the "user" apps to link to the SD, and set it up so it does likewise on install of new apps. Very easy.
Hey Guys whenever i download any apps from market i get the error Install Unsuccessful .... Insufficient storage ...
What to do :-/
Rom Hell Fire v7.2
UOT Kitchen Flashed 1
Overclocked 729 Mhz
Wildfire
delete apps or move some to SD card? If your memory is full it's logical you can't add apps
Sounds to me that a2sd is not properly set up.
I been having some issues running out of storage internaly. and after some fiddeling around with a2sd it was ok. And how to do it is posted in this rom's explanation on how to install it.

The ROM takes about 10 minutes to start for the first time since the beginning makes for a facility, I recommend formatting the memory trageta do a clean install or possibly delete the folders: ANDROID, LOST DIR ANDROID as these folders SECURE conflicts created by data from the old roms
I recommend making partitions ie swap64mb ext512 and the rest as fat32 mind too expensive or necessarily recommend formatting the card will memory or possibly delete the folders in the same android, haer all the wipes, the Rom takes a few minutes to make first start since being installed all the extras on the first boot takes 3 to 5 minutes, once this echo this start and made previous settings obligation is to do a reboot for full functionality telefeno
Installation of the rom:
1. reboot in recovery mode
2. we wipes all
3. selected to install update sip
4. restart the tlf
5. enter the terminal console and register the following:
his press enter
# a2sd cachesd or enter
the phone will reboot and have about 150 megs of free internal memory

Can u mention it Step by Step?
Hi all, i have same issue.
Yesterday i finally rootat my Wildfire and put Cyanogenmod 7.0.3.stable on it.
Its very nice!
BUT cant allways install apps from market. I have 87mb free on inside memory and 1,7gb in sdcard... So what is problem?
What i need to do? I can full wipe all my data from telefone if somone tell me how i can do this..
Can somone help?
Use dalvik wipe from xrecovery to clean ur phone data..
Sent from my U20i using XDA Premium App
try istalling darktremor a2sd script (need to be istalled from recovery if not already integrated into your rom) and download a2sdgui from market, it's a gui for the script mentioned earlier. into recovery you have to partition your sd card too (advanced) 1024mb ext and i suggest 64mb swap, then open the app I told you (a2sdgui) and move everything to ext, dalvik cache too.
I agree with the poster above.
if you have issues with a2sd, I recommend installing A2SDGUI from market. (I assume you already have darktremors a2sd script installed). I had darktremors script working fine, but after flashing a zip file, it was not working. So I installed the A2SDGUI from darktremor and fixed the script. Now it is working. Just search the market and install it. It is great. Now I have around 168 MB free after all the installed apps.
Hope this helps,
SOLUTION TO INSUFFICIENT STORAGE:
1. Use FROYO+ default apps2sd. It gives the option to force moving of 95% of the apps to sdcard. Even root is not necessary. You can move 95% of apps only after using the adb command "adb shell pm setInstallLocation 2". This command is not even needed in cm7. And this method uses the fat/fat32 partition of sdcard not the ext partition. Specifically apps will be installed to .android_secure folder in the root of sdcard.
2. This method includes creating ext partition on sdcard and using an app called "link2sd". This is a root only app. No scripts are needed. That app has option to even link individual apps to ext partition. Also links dalvik cache.
3. Creating ext + swap partition and using dtapps2sd script. Root is required. Also custom recovery is required for flashing the script. This might be the toughest one but it is pretty awesome. Moves apps , data, dalvik cache to ext partition. Everything can be done with commands from the terminal emulator. Or you can use the "a2sdgui" app for graphical user interface.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
The GUI for the script is much more user-friendly than emulator terminal. And you can undo everything you did if it's not as you tought faster than from terminal.
I am not aware of how Hell Fire works. But yes for Cyanogenmod 7 I know there is a issue downloading a large application from the market. It won't download. Problem is the space.
Fix for this is few steps:
1. In Terminal type the following commands.
2. su
3. mkdir /sdcard/download-cache
4. cd /cache
5. mv download download.bak
6. ln -s /sdcard/download-cache download
Done... Now Go to market and download anything you won't get such errors..
If It Helps Don't forget Press Thank Button.
Thanks a lot!
I just get my new sd-card( 16 Gb) and install darktremor a2sd script + a2sdgui.
Works just like it says!
No more thinking what program van install and what not....
Well I just installed the MOdd Again ... and I was done
Though i bought Samsung Galaxy ace as its my second time the Touch Panel doesn't work ... first in Tattoo and den in Wildfire
So ... Thanx a lot guys for Helping

3º-If you are an starter, you can post here your questions, but be sure that you haven´t found answers on Google or other threads.
and 4º-Read ALL topic before start and try one solution than the other, they´re in order of difficulty and risk of get an "permanent" brick.
0 - Always backup your EFS folder, maybe its not related to this thread but it´s also very important to remember.
I -If you have a folder called "voodoo" in your sdcard, you may have voodoo enabled on your ROM, so be sure of disabling it before trying a new rom or a stock rom.
if you´re on another rom already and having problems in mounting partitions, try to flash you last rom or a kernel that supports voodoo and it´s compatible with your new rom.
II-If you´re getting problems in mounting DBDATA,Download a full rom that contains DBDATA to flash with odin(or only flash dbdata, but you´ll have to do a full wipe later). To see if it haves dbdata.rfs by opening your .tar file in 7zip or others.
III-If you´re getting Can´t mount data (dev/block/mmcblkl0p2) File exists, try to flash an kernel with voodoo suport,if it still the same, format data in the menu of your recovery.
IV-If you´re getting can´t mount sdcard (/dev/block/mmcblk0p1)File exists, try to access it via ADB and send pull file command to recover your files(must have root),if you could do that, so try to format it via recovery. If not work,Download gparted, burn it on cd (it´s an CD with a tool of linux) and go to ADB shell to run this command:
su
echo /dev/block/mmcblk0 > /sys/devices/platform/s3c-usbgadget/gadget/lun1/file
now
reboot your PC in gparted and format mmcblk0p1(it´s the first partition) in FAT32.
Done
V-If you´re getting cant mount sdcard (/dev/block/mmcblk0p1) with (invalid argument) You can try the fix IV and see if it works,if not, proceed to VI.
VI-If you´re getting cant mount data(dev/block/mmcblk0p2) or can´t mount sdcard (/dev/block/mmcblk0p1) with (invalid argument) or (no such file or directory) you may have to do this:
***search on google for 'fdisk' commands first***
You MUST*¹ remake your partition table manually,so the phone have the /data partition back to boot.
*¹
In some cases you can use gparted to do this, without doing it manually,
you shoud only mount mmcblk0 before.
you can run this command line on adb shell to mount it:
echo /dev/block/mmcblk0 > /sys/devices/platform/s3c-usbgadget/gadget/lun1/file
You Will have to format it and it MUST have the partitions as said below.
YOU SDCARD MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING PARTITION TO BOOT ON AND RECOGNIZE INTERNAL SDCARD:
/dev/block/mmcblk0p1
AND
/dev/block/mmcblk0p2
Start:
Open ADB,comnect your phone and proceed.
run adb shell
su
fdisk /dev/block/mmcblk0
p (you should see your partition table,POST HERE BEFORE CONTINUING)
YOU ARE NOW ABOUT TO REMAKE YOUR PARTITIONS:
partition 1 will correspond to mmcblk0p1(SDcard) and partition 2 will correspond to mmcblk0p2 (DATA)
**DO ONLY AS I SAY HERE, UNLESS YOU MAY GOT I/O ERROR ON YOUR SDCARD AND ITS ALL OVER. I say because it happened to me and i had to dissolder the internal sdcard an use only the external.**
**********IF YOU DONT HAVE ANY IDEA OF LINUX COMANDS: DO NOT PROCEED !!!!!!!!!*************
tap on adb:
n (will create a new partition)
1 (partition number)
press enter on keyboard so it selects the first block
get a calculator and estimate the size of the partition 1.IT MUST HAVE around 2GB left.
write the block number you got in calculator(BE SURE OF WHAT YOU TAPE HERE)
t
b (partition 1 is done and formatted as fat 32)
Now again:
n
2
enter on keyboard
enter again so it select the last block
(DO NOT TYPE COMMAND "T" FOR PARTITION 2, IT BY DEFAULT SET TO LINUX EXT FORMAT)
p (you will see you new partition table)
****IT MUST HAVE 2 partitions, partition 1 is in fat 32 format and partition 2 is in linux format(AND MUST HAVE AROUND 2GB)****
w (IT WILL WRITE YOU NEW PARTITION TABLE ON YOU SDCARD,SO BE SURE IT's ALL CORRECT)
Done,
now tap:
q
fdisk /dev/block/mmcblk0
p (you should see your new partition table, if ok reboot your phone, flash an stock rom for vibrant (I sugest an T959UVJFD ROM only to correctly format your partitions),root it,backup it,and enjoy,You can put a custom rom if you want so.)
If You have an error That does not appear here and you think it may me related to you sdcard just ask. In one or two days I or others developers may post here a possible solution.
Thanks For Google and some XDA users who indirectly helped me doing this.
You can try Paragon Hard Disk Manager in place of gparted
but remember: mmcblk0p1 is FAT32 and mmcblk0p2 in EXT2 (in truth it´s not EXT2, its in rfs, but the stock rom T959UVJFD is the only that I have absolute sure that will do the conversion).
Sorry for my bad english, it´s not my native language.

[FIX] Data wipe error or Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
Data wipe error, Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1, or Vibrant screen boot loop even after flashing stock odin JFD phone will not boot. Phone will only boot Eugenes JK2 but internal and external storage will still list as corrupted and Lists 0.00 MB in storage.
Internal storage has been destroyed, I’ve been able to fix a phone using this technique to be mostly working. The external SD card will always have to be in the phone for this to work.
1. Partitioning the MicroSD Card
Get an 8gb(or larger) micro sd card. Class 10 would be better here. Put it into a Card Reader, then run Gparted.
Gparted (usb method is easiest) - http://gparted.sourceforge.net/liveusb.php
Using Gparted, delete everything else and create 2 partitions and :
6000mb FAT32 as PRIMARY
1607mb(remainder) Reiser as PRIMARY
2. Flash to Stock
Open up Odin flash stock JFD with pit file and repartition checked.
After phone boots completely, power off.
3. Flashing CM9
Take MicroSD out of phone an put it in pc, then copy update.zip, GAPPS, Cyanogenmod Rom all to the FAT32 partition that we created earlier. In Windows it should show up where all of your drives are listed in.
update.zip (https://www.dropbox.com/s/ju5eg5ernxcaqpt/update.zip),
GAPPS (http://www.goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps...317-signed.zip)
CyanogenMod Rom Zip(http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/...mtd-signed.zip)
Enter recovery mode with volume buttons and power.
Reinstall packages twice.
Install zip from sd card select update-cm-9-20120520-nightly-vibrantmtd-signed.zip phone will boot loop on vibrant screen so take out the battery then enter recovery a second time installing the cm9 update again.
Then flash Gapps zip the same way.
When phone boots up camera, and gallery will not work until the next step.
4. Edit Vold.Stab file
Downlad ES File Explorer from play store.
Hit Menu button, settings, Check box for Root Explorer, Check box for mount file system, check box for Up to Root
Press Up once, you should now be at "/"
Open system directory, open etc directory, scroll to bottom and select Vol.fstab, select Text, Select ES Note Editor, update text to the following:
#internal sdcard dev_mount emmc /mnt/sdcard 1 /devices/platform/s3c-sdhci.0/mmc_host/mmc0
#external sdcard dev_mount sdcard /mnt/emmc auto /devices/platform/s3c-sdhci.2/mmc_host/mmc2
After edits, click back and click yes to save changes. Exit out of es file explorer and restart phone. Post results:
Should work with any version of CM9, newer nightlies would obviously be preferred. Will make more detailed guide soon.

1. Get into Download Mode (WITH THE PHONE PLUGGED IN) by following the steps below
*Turn off the phone until you get to the charging battery screen (keep in mind, your phone is currently PLUGGED IN)
*Press volume up and down, and power all at once.
*As soon as the screen turns black, release your power button.
2. Unplug phone from USB
3. Open Odin (in Administrator if you're running W7 or Vista), try one of the ones I attached to this post, at least one of them is bound to work, some don't work for me, but works for others, some doesn't work for others, but works for me, whatever floats your boat
4. Load in the files into Odin that you have downloaded from above Just load in the files corresponding to the text field.
DO NOT CHECK REPARTITION.
5. Plug in your phone with the DL mode
6. Click start and wait for the magic
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NO-BOOT PHONES
This is where your phone does NOT turn on, no combo of buttons works and power button does nothing.
DO THIS ONLY WHEN YOU PLUG IN YOUR PHONE AND NOTHING SHOWS UP ON THE SCREEN!!! If else, follow the steps from above.
This method is basically same as above, EXCEPT the way you get into Download Mode as your phone is HARD BROKEN.
1. Download all the files required in the "BOOT CYCLE" section of this post.
2. Remove everything from your phone (SD card, sim, battery).
3. Plug your phone into your computer WITHOUT the battery, as you have already taken it out in the last step.
4. Press and HOLD vol. up and vol. down.
5. As you are HOLDING these buttons, reattach your battery.
6. You should be in Download Mode.
7. Unplug phone from USB
8. Follow steps 4-8 from the "BOOT CYCLE" section.
Troubleshooting:
-Odin stuck at some random process?
*Switch to another odin
*Make sure you did NOT check repartition, if you did, just repeat all the steps over again, except for the downloading parts, obviously.
-Phone not responsive?
*Try "NO-BOOT PHONES"section of this guide
-Phone stuck at Galaxy S logo screen?
*Put it in to DL mode, and run Odin again, it's just a bad install.
-All three ODIN is nonfunctional, stuck or giving "FAILED" errors?
*DO NOT CLOSE ODIN ONCE IT HAS FAILED!
*Unplug your phone
*Replug in your phone, get it into DL mode
* Unplug once it is in DL mode
*Replug and ODIN should recognize your phone
*Leave all the settings the same, then click "Start" again.
-Cannot get into download mode using the method I listed? Use the method(s) below:
Soldering Method
More methods coming soon
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know how much of a pain posting in the Q/A section can be and the wait time is pretty bad, so if you need help regarding UNBRICKING and ONLY UNBRICKING feel free to post in here.

Attached Modified vold.fstab files for switching Internal SDCard with External SD card
USE only if you know how to overwrite existing File found in /system/etc after making a backup of original file for safe keeping.
Most of all make Nandroid Backup of your ROM before attempting to do anything on your phone
Method:- ( you can use any (root) file manger that has read write permission)
You must copy and paste all files and folders in your SD card to External SD card first before rebooting phone after this switching, for phone to function without force close
1. Download the attachment and extract it and transfer the file "Vold.fstab" to your SD card.
2. Now open root explorer/file manger with root permission. Go to System > etc and copy the original vold.fstab file to a safe location (if there is any problem or you wish to change it back, you can restore it)
3. Now copy the downloaded file vold.fstab, Go to System > etc And delete the original file and paste the duplicate one or simply paste it to overwrite existing file
4. Click on new vold.fstab file and keep it pressed to open the menu and click on permissions and set them to rw_r_r_ ( Owner = read & write - Group = read only and Others = Read only)
5. Save it and close root explorer. power down your phone/tablet and reboot into CWM or Stock recovery and wipe cache before rebooting the phone/tablet.
6. Go to settings >storage to check it
This app will also do the same for you
For i9000 Jelly Bean 4.3, swap SD kernel available here also look below for other methods.

In Jelly Bean ROM version 4.3, CM 10.2 , switching fstab does not stick after reboot and @srnoth has found a solution to make it workable as quoted below
To locate your mount points easily, just install this app and look in system > mount points to get mount point details
Link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45330007&postcount=7
srnoth said:
Ok so I found a different/interim solution using an init.d script. This is specifically for my Galaxy S2 Skyrocket (with broken internal memory), but can be modified for other phones.
Create a script file in your /system/etc/init.d/ directory called something like 11sd_remount:
Code:
sleep 2
mount -t vfat -o umask=0000 /dev/block/vold/179:97 /storage/sdcard0
mount -t vfat -o umask=0000 /dev/block/vold/179:28 /storage/sdcard1
Then chmod 755 the script file. Upon reboot, the internal/external sdcards should be swapped. I've attached an update.zip which sets up the script automatically, and can be used after updating CM.
To get this to work on other devices, you really just need to figure out the mount points for your internal and external sdcards. To do this, type mount in adb shell (from within CM, not recovery), and you'll see a list of mount points. Somewhere towards the end will be the lines for /storage/sdcard0 and /storage/sdcard1, looking something like /dev/block/vold/179:97. Simply modify the script using these points, and you should be good to go. Download attachment http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2237695&d=1378415056

another method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46825100&postcount=4 by @viiron
Since the above solution no longer works with Android 4.3, here is the new procedure you'll need to follow:
1) Pull the build.prop from /system: adb pull /system/build.prop
2) remove line ro.vold.switchablepair=/emmc,/storage/sdcard0 <--- this may or may not be present in your rom.
3) At the bottom of the build.prop paste the following:
# Switch External With Internal
persist.sys.vold.switchexternal=1
# Storage configuration
ro.vold.switchablepair=/storage/sdcard0,/storage/sdcard1
4) push the new build.prop back onto the system (from command prompt - assuming adb is in your PATH)
adb root
adb shell mount -o rw,remount /system
adb push build.prop /system/
adb reboot
You can also pull the build.prop from the Rom* zip file, modify it and place it back before flashing to save a little time and trouble.
Removing the line in #1 has has no ill effects from what I can tell. I've install 250+ apps and haven't had a problem since.
Obviously make a nandroid back before attempting this just in the rare case that something goes wrong.

your vold fstab for storage is running in a series, most of them are parallel ( meaning having two mount points, yours only has one) , as such is quite different , anyway had switched, you need to test after you have safed the original you had attached and if it fails, just switch it back .
Hope it works, if it does not you may need to try the other method mentioned above.
remember to copy all the file and folders in your SD card to ext SD card for phone to work, when it is successful.
kindly also mention model of your phone and version of ROM for my record.

hmm. will look at it again, but like I said this script is rather different from the earlier versions used on Galaxy and will PM you if I can figure this out . Just do a search on XDA, there are other members who are helping in switching fstab scripts too.
Just one doubt, Did you reboot phone after switching contents of your internal SD card to external SD card or before that?

## Example of specifying a specific partition for mounts
# dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard 2 /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.0 /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.2/mmc_host/mmc1
can you tell me how to change it so i can swap cards?
is it just changing the following 2 lines, and how exactly:
dev_mount sdcard /storage/sdcard0 [email protected] /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.0 /devices/platform/mtk-msdc.0/mmc_host
dev_mount sdcard2 /storage/sdcard1 auto /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.1 /devices/platform/mtk-msdc.1/mmc_host
or changing the above two lines with the dual card setup up lines, and changing them how?
dev_mount left_sdcard /mnt/sdcard1 auto /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.0 /devices/platform/mtk-sd.0/mmc_host/mmc0
dev_mount right_sdcard /mnt/sdcard2 auto /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.1 /devices/platform/mtk-sd.2/mmc_host/mmc2

ok, i'm working on the NAND backup
You know, my sdcard1 has some of the same folders as my sdcard0, including an "Android" folder, etc
I use ES File Explorer and Total Commander, but neither have an option to "Combine", they are replace or nothing
any utility you know of to combine the contents of folders?
otherwise i have to open individual sub-folders, which go down quite deep, and copy every single file, which is a big pain... an XP-style pain
thanks

Frankly you should not combine, as phone may get stuck in boot loop, since some of the files you may have in your EXT SD card can cause conflicts. Your should use a fresh EXT SD card or fully formatted EXT SD card with only what is found in the Internal SD card. once the procedure is successful than you can copy anything back into it ( so best empty your EXT SD card to your PC first, format it than copy the contents of Internal SD card after you made CWM backup.
If this procedure fails, you should be able to restore using your Nand backup ( SO use your CWM recovery to make a Nandroid backup first before the switch and save it to PC) , and you may have to try different methods of mounting.

ok, thanks, i'll try that..
also.. I've been reading that this is not a permanent solution? like it doesnt hold until reboot, is that right?

ok, removed & reformatted my SD, did a clean copy from sdcard0 to sdcard1, have my vold.fstab ready to go.., and have my backup of the original
but I cant delete the original file in system/etc
I am root user, My ES File Explorer is set to Root Mode..I cant change the Files permissions, it says "sorry, operation failed"
and when I copy over to overwrite it says "Access Denied"
I cant delete it either, it says "read-only system file"
any other options?
i also tried something called "root Explorer", but that had even less options, and I couldnt do it with Total Commander either
btw, any particular reason "goldfish_mmc.1" isnt changed with goldfish_mmc.0 ??
thanks

Basically, you must be rooted and have busybox installed on your phone to get read write permission for ES or Root explorer to work. SO get your phone rooted first and install Busy BOX from app store and permission must be granted by SU or Superuser to the ES or Root Explorer for it to be able to read write a system file.
Yes I left the gold fish part out, and wanted to add in that IF it failed, fundamentally, the Vold Fstab on your system, says its an "example", so I have my doubts concerning it, IF its actually the mount points for your phone or its in another location. Its good you have noted it, jut add in that switch, if the first suggested one fails :fingers-crossed:
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.

well, i mounted the system drive as Read/write in es file explorer, by disabling & re-enabling Root mode.. then i could delete it
Then I used Quickboot to reboot into Recovery Mode
then I hit up to enter the recovery console, then I hit the down arrow and selected "Wipe Cache" and hit the Power button for Enter, and it completed that, then I selected Reboot, and rebooted
and now my SD card is not read at all..
it seems everything is the same, except no SD card.. I still have the same sd0card as before, but sdcard1 has disappeared..
any ideas?
thanks

I hope you had done this
4. Click on new vold.fstab file and keep it pressed to open the menu and click on permissions and set them to rw_r_r_ ( Owner = read & write - Group = read only and Others = Read only)
5. Save it and close root explorer. power down your phone/tablet and reboot into CWM or Stock recovery and wipe cache before rebooting the phone/tablet.
you can try including the the goldfish part (switch) and try again, if that fails than its the init.d method that you need to try, so long as you have the backup, you can be restored back to your old system, IF nothing works.
For locating the mount points you can download Android System info app from play store, that will give you the mount points for init.d switch.

ok, sorry, yes I did set it to rw_r_r, saved, exited, rebooted to recovery, wiped cache, and then booted into the OS
I just tried it with goldfish also, and it gave me the same result
I also tried External 2 Internal, selected my mounting points from Android Sys Info, set my external to /dev/block/vold/179:97 vfat
I'm wondering if this has anything to do with my SD card formatted to FAT32.. and not vFAT
i'll look at init.d .. i dont see the mount point for init.d, i guess they show up after I create the file. i'll look at that tutorial next
Can someone please Edit this vold.rar for me? Its for Galaxy Mega 6.3 I9205... Please!

Hi everyone,
This is a simple guide on how to fomat ext4 to f2fs without losing any of the internal storage & data.
Cuz, nowadays many ROMs, specially the new marshmallow ROMs are having F2FS support. And f2fs has much better I/O perfomance when compared to Ext4 (it really boosts your bacon's read & write speed)
IMPORTANT: F2FS is useful only if the ROM & Kernel which you are using supports F2FS (it shoud be written in the description in the thread of the ROM & kernel). If it doesnt support, & you formatted partitions as f2fs, then maybe you wont be able to boot.

First of all what is F2FS?
F2FS (Flash-Friendly File System) is a flash file system initially developed by Samsung Electronics for the Linux kernel.
The motive for F2FS was to build a file systemthat, from the start, takes into account the characteristics of NAND flash memory-based storage devices (such as solid-state disks,eMMC, and SD cards), which are widely used in computer systems ranging from mobile devices to servers.
Benefits:
- Much Increased I/O speed
- Increase life span of flash storage due to less write required
- Doesn't suffer file size limitation of 4GB
Why F2FS is better than Ext4?
Because, it has much better I/O perfomance when compared to Ext4. It also has much higher write speeds. It is specially meant for eMMC card & to use its full potential. See various benchmarks & comparison of Ext4 & F2FS here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697069
I even got very high UX I/O Perfomance Score in AnTuTu Benchmark (much higher than my old ext4 exodus cm12 ux score) (UX Score 29513 out of total score 56581) (Sultanxda CM13 build 4.4.2016, lightning kernel, /data & /cache formatted as F2FS): https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/cm13-what-is-your-antutu-score-in-cm13.440380 (see screenshot).
Why am I making a seperate guide? Isnt this very easy?
Cuz, many people (even I before) didnt know that formatting /data, /system & /cache to f2fs would wipe the internal storage too, and at later would end up crying after losing their precious internal storage files. This had happened to me a few weeks ago. And this involves some other steps too. So I am making this guide so that others wont lose their precious files.
Pre-Requisites:
OnePlus One (lol) & working usb cable
TWRP 3.0.1
ROM & Kernel that supports F2FS
Windows Laptop/PC with ADB Drivers & ADB 1.0.32 installed (how to install adb driver & adb is given in Steps 4 & 5) & with atleast 60GB Space in your PC.
70% battery in your bacon atleast.
Procedure:
If you are gonna wipe /system & /data for flashing new ROM (like a new cm13 rom), then first take titanium backup of all the required stuff.
Reboot to recovery mode (TWRP)
In TWRP, Go to Backup >> Tick all the partitions >> Go to options tab & enable compression (this will make the backup process slower but will make the backup files smaller, optional) >> Swipe to backup >> Wait until backup gets over. Dont cancel.
After the backup process is complete, go to twrp home >> Mount >> Enable MTP (if the button shows Disable MTP, that means MTP is already enabled) >> Now connect your opo to computer/laptop. In My Computer or This PC, it should show up as A0001 >> Now open the device A0001 in This PC/Computer >> Internal Storage >> Select everything (dont miss anything) >> Right click > Copy >> Now make a folder anywhere (I made it in root of C: drive) >> paste everything. This will take some time, wait till everything gets over. MTP is too slow & sometimes some files do not copy properly. Instead, do this failproof ADB method (for windows user): Install Universal ADB Driver from here (ignore if you have already installed adb)
Now download minimal adb & fastboot from here >> Open the downloaded file (Its a setup wizard) >> when it asks for installation path, change the default path to "C:\adb" (without quotes) & install it.
Now open command prompt (press win+R from keyboard, type cmd & press enter) & type the following one by one:
Code:
cd c:\adb
adb pull -p /sdcard c:\bacon_full_backup
The full backup is gonna take several minutes. Relax with some music until then. :good:
Now you are ready to go! WARNING: This step will wipe your /system completely. But dont worry. Everything is safe in your PC. Now go to TWRP Home >> Wipe >> Advanced Wipe >> tick system (verify if your ROM & kernel supports /system as f2fs, else skip this step) >> Repair or Change File System >> Change File System >> F2FS >> Swipe to change. Now your system partition is cleanly formatted to F2FS. [@Sultanxda's CM13 does not support /system as f2fs]
WARNING: This step will wipe your /data & internal storage (sdcard) completely!! . Go to TWRP Home >> Wipe >> Advanced Wipe >> tick data (verify if your ROM & kernel supports /data as f2fs, else skip this step) >> Repair or Change File System >> Change File System >> F2FS >> Swipe to change. Now your data partition is cleanly formatted to F2FS, & internal storage is empty (dont get freaked out, everything is in your PC!). [@Sultanxda's CM13 supports /data as f2fs.]
This step will wipe your /cache. Now go to TWRP Home >> Wipe >> Advanced Wipe >> tick cache (verify if your ROM & kernel supports /cache as f2fs, else skip this step) >> Repair or Change File System >> Change File System >> F2FS >> Swipe to change. Now your cache partition is cleanly formatted to F2FS. [@Sultanxda's CM13 supports /cache as f2fs.]
If you are flashing new ROM after wiping data & system, then skip the steps 12 & 13.
Now plug your opo into your PC & copy everything of the internal storage, which you copied erlier to your PC, back into the internal storage of OPO. This will take several minutes. MTP transfer is too slow. Instead, do the ADB method: Open a command prompt & type these commands one by one wait till it completes (will take a long time):
Code:
cd c:\adb
adb push -p c:\bacon_full_backup /sdcard
Now go to TWRP Home >> Settings >> tick use rm -rf instead of formatting (else while restoring the twrp backups, twrp will reformat the partitions as ext4 again).
Now go to twrp home >> restore >> select the latest backup (see the date & time in the name of the backup if you have multiple backups) >> tick every partitions >> tick enable md5 verification >> Swipe to restore.
Done.
Voila! Now your device is formatted as F2FS! Enjoy the much faster I/O read & write speed.
I actually made this guide here: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...-without-losing-internal-storage-data.439999/ & copy pasted in xda forum.
cool but i thought there would be no backup involved like windows where i changed from mbr to gpt without damaging data
Umm, So if I use 6.0.1 sultan I can format to f2fs except 'system' directory right?
That mean I need to skip step 6 . Am I right ?
Sorry for newb question XD
Oh my god.... This was the most obvious guide I have ever come across on XDA.... Please make a guide on how backup and restore my apps if I overheat and burn my phone?

No the author has has definitely put a great amount t of efforts to write.... I give him that.... I came to guide to find some other way of backing up the data from your internal storage partition directly... But copying g onto your laptop is something almost what everyone does... I think the warning that the OP gave after how formatting would erase the complete partition... I think it should indicate as to what happens.... He has stated that clearly too...
I was looking g for a better alternative
Might make sense to make a list of Roms and kernels that support F2FS, since people will come here out curiousity, and it would be the next logical step to find and flash a rom that support it.
Sent from my A0001 using XDA-Developers mobile app
the caf sultan 04/04/2016 suports system as f2fs? with Lightning Kernel v38?

some things about 12 item:
for me adb dont want to work, because i wipe all partitions and didnt install the rom. After installing ROM, go to develop options and check adb debug, only after this step adb command in cmd was working well.
If i only convert to f2fs CACHE, so it lose internal storage & data?

Nope
so, can i do this tutorial on lastest stock cm13? or need custom rom?
Is F2FS stable yet? Last I heard it caused all sort of data corruption, freezing, etc.
How can I put a ROM on my phone after converting data and cache? In TWRP, mounting doesn't give me a storage device in Windows, and using ADB Sideload, it just gets stuck on 'starting service'. I plan to move from sultans CM12.1 up to CM13 but I dont know how to load a ROM zip onto the phone after converting the file system?

For me, who just wants to flash (and destroy and flash and destroy again - 2nd bootloader ftw!) his 7 year old Samsung Galaxy S1, is this completely new. Never heard of f2fs before today.
For the SGS1, only roms from 5.x on supports f2sf. But its manditory to try the 6.x roms.
I thankfully stumbled across this guide - now im only in the need to figure out, which from with version on TWRP & CWM can do this trick, where i can found them and what i need to do, to be able to flash them. (If your handset is on android 2.2/2.3, its not that easy to change to an up-to-date version)

Yup sorry for the mistake. Its a slash instead of a backslash in adb pull \sdcard.I have updated it.
Someone pointed out the same mistake in my OPO forums thread and had fixed it, but forgot to fix it in XDA thread.
hello i read the guide to convert filesystem, byt when i tick partition system and changhe file system with twrp 3.1.0 i can not chose f2fs is not present why? only ext2 ext 3 ext4 etc but not f2fs? why???
thanks
