changing the green lens camera with RED lens?? - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
hi there.
i Have a Green lens Soc module defy.
bt i have a source from where i can get a motherboard of red lens defy,
i dont wana change the motherboard itself,as it would change the IMEI nmber as well..
can i change the camera? without changing the motherboard.
i know the red lens would probably have the BAYER module,so would that effect ??
anybody??
is it possible to just change the camera
??
You have to change the motherboard for for a one with Bayer camera module... I guess it's easier to sell the green lense Defy and get another with red lense

so if i just take the camera out from the redlens motherboard and put it in mine, mine will become Bayer module?
module will be integrated within the camera itself? and not the motherboard???

I unmounted the cam of my water death defy ....
My experience was that it should be pulled straight off to don't brick the pins which comes from motherboard , to do with ab special tool easily.
Cam should work fine
But i don't know how to mount again on ab other motherboard ..
I've forgotten to mark the mounting direction....
Cam has a mark motherboard not..

Front camara
Anyone know how to replace the front camara with out breaking the phone? Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I beleive the front facing camera is solder to the motherboard. So that will require some soldering skills. Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
One of the things that's critical is getting it mounted properly. It needs to end up so it's firmly pressed against the back of the front glass, otherwise dust gets in there something awful. My first one has a badly aligned camera and after 2 months all you could see was dust. The camera was completely useless. Bear in mind that the camera sits right behind the headphone port, which is basically a giant hole in the case saying "Dust, come in here!". If the camera is borked though, and you bought it from T Mobile, they'll replace it.
Ok thanks Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Red lens.
Hey guys! Where can i buy the res lens camera? I am using a green lens. I looked on ebay but couldnt find one. Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
you cannot buy anywhere...its motorola's factory design / component.
i dun think u can swap the camera on ur defy...
Yes you guys THINK that its not possible, but why not? I don't think that moto changed anything other on the board. But anyway, lets hope that someone gets the module for gb-kernel working Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
Actually the soc module makes much better pictures then the Bayer one, especially in darker environment... Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
Really? My understanding was it's the other way around. I have the SOC camera and to be honest, the camera quality is pretty bad (on latest stable CM7) - especially in low light situations. I can't imagine the Bayer module being worse.
Yes, the soc module is already bad, but with Bayer module its even worse i have made huge testing as my friend bought a defy with Bayer module and i have got a soc one, the result is clear Sent from my MB525 using xda premium
The camera module it's soldered on the mainboard, too hard to replace. Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk

Click to collapse Ah i see, thats why Moto put the Bayer in the Defy+ because it is worse then the SOC they have 2 get rid of the bad ones first. On what did you test the camera difference on the original MOTO Rom or on a custom ROM like CM7?? I think they will not put a worse module in a newer phone.
Well i have tested on cm7, and i think they only used the Bayer module to get the ability of 720p-recording and didn't take any look at the image quality itself well at least that's my theory to explain that bull**** but you are right, it could have also been some issue with cm7 on the bayer-defy. Well, lets hope for a working green lens module for gb kernel Sent from my MB525 using xda premium
