How many apps do you have? - Transformer TF300T General

How many apps do you all have on your transformers? Currently I have 123.
To find the number of apps go to the play store > my apps.

83 on my SGS 3 and 52 on my TF300T, I find that you won't need as many apps on tablets since you can just browse the webpage instead (eg. facebook page is lightyears better than the crappy app)

92 is the count on the app list. I probably don't use half, but I just leave them for now.

At this moment I have 207 apps not including stock (132 on my S II). I have them organized in groups in Nova Launcher (Prime). I need to be prepared for many tasks . At some time in the past I had 240+ apps but I needed to do some cleaning

I got 76 on my tablet. Use them al almost every day.

about 300 apps

except for the guy above, I'm surprised by how few app other have.
I have 229 currently.

I have 37 in total and I use them all.
I wonder if the people that have more than 100 use them all ?

Nope, I only use a few on a regular basis. I have a bunch I use rearly, but still are worth keeping. I havea unit converter app that I've only used a few times but it's nice to have. I also have some games I don't really play but keep them incase I want to ue them if I take a long trip or for others to play if the oppertunty arises. Then there are several web browsers I have, but have mainly stuck with Dolphin. I may just remove them as Dolphine seems to be my preferance.
I will eentually go through and trim my 229 down to something less, but wil probably still hover in the 175 to 200 range.

I have about 75
80% games

ram

how much does your tranformer show for ram under running apps? mine says 500mb or so , i hought this had 1g. anyone can shed some light on this for me?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
If you had used the search function for all of 3 seconds you would have found this info but whatever.
The Android system itself uses RAM, and this is not shown. As you will observe the usable number changes.
i did search but it did an all topic search and it brought up alot of topics. i couldnt figure out how to search only transformer area. at least on the transformer. i think i was able to do it on my computer before. my bad i did give it a try tho.
thanks for the info.

Freezing apps

What bloat apps are you all freezing? I see a few I could stand to be rid of... do we have an idea which ones would be safe from the older transformers?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using XDA Premium HD app
Ive rooted my TF300 and used Root Explorer to move the following out of the /system/app directory...
Asus Reader.apk
Books.apk
Kindle-OEM.apk
MyZine.apk
PixWe.apk
PlusOne.apk
PRAndroid.apk
Vibe_CN.apk
ZinoReader.apk
Have had zero FC or system issues since.
Going to dig a little deeper today and see what other useless apps I can remove.
As a tip, never delete the apk. Just move it to a "bloat" folder on your SD card. This will disable the app but allow you to restore it if you move something you shouldnt.
What about freezing/removing the stock launcher? Anyone else notice the warning after downloading an app that says the screen is full? My apex screen is barren, i tjink stock is harshing on my vibe.

Ya I noticed that warning and noticed it on my phones running ICS too. It still puts a shortcut there tho so I don't know what to make of it.
In Google Playstore settings, uncheck the box that says auto-add widgets for new apps.

I tried to freeze maps but after I did, I kept getting a force close/error that maps wasn't working. Another app must be calling on maps or something, anyone know how to get rid of it without this problem?

No need to freeze or uninstall maps.
Yes it may be running, but unless you are signed into latitude (possibly with or without you knowing you are)...its only using memory allocation and will have little or no effect on the battery.
You are in for never ending FC if you keep it froze or uninstalled.

Best facebook app for our tf101

Trying to figure out which one you guys feel is the best for our tf101. What do you think?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
I use friendcaster. It might not be perfect but this is much better than the official Facebook application. The official is very slow and is pretty useless in low network connectivity condition.
Gabriel
Since all of the browsers and apps are terribly glitchy for me, the best solution is using Splashtop HD to remote desktop my computer and view from there... Rather roundabout but it's fast and Doesn't Glitch!
I think there are three real tablet Facebook apps:
FaceDroid (paid app)
Friend Me
Friendcaster.
I'd say Friendcaster is the best one, gives you a very nice Facebook experience with all needed features and a nice UI, plus good widgets.
Definitely not the Facebook app! Too clunky

how is that facedroid app? I heard its pretty good as well. Anyone have any experience with it?

I like facedroid, but I think that fbm is better . But with facedroid if you have a problem or find a bug and report it to the developer, he will E-mail you back within a couple of hours on how to fix your problem or within a week or so you will see an update that fixes that bug.So the great support is worth the money alone. But it does show those pesky game updates in the feed like anyone needs to see that jeff married his cousin on farm ville.Without the games in the feed it would be the best fb app in my opinion.

Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
I've never tried friendcaster, but the UI is pretty clean, and fbm has a nearly identical look to the official fb app with the ability to upload pics and post YouTube links and has notification, but it does not crash, and when you open it it just works....best part is when you turn it off it is off and does not use 30 to 50mb of ram all the time like official fb app.

Use the default facebook app or facebook website if you want to see all your friend's posts.
Use third-party apps if you don't mind missing posts, but like the customization.
Remember, third party apps can be blocked by your friends so they not only see your posts, but you don't see theirs either.
Unfortunately, the stock Facebook app is a memory hog, but it works.

Not only is it a memory hog but it kills sleep eating up your battery. So get your friends to allow 3rd party apps to see their posts.

I've been looking for one too that works 100%, I love the look of Friendcaster Pro and have been using it for 6+ months but it screws up a lot and either doesn't post my comments/status updates or when I try and load something it will be like "Friendcaster received an invalid response from Facebook". The notification Window annoys me on the official app because it's so tiny and only shows about three or four things, not to mention I still can't figure out how to share things from it. Is it even possible to do so?
I'll give Facedroid a try and see how it is.

Friendcaster is good.
Using Firefox beta (v14) with agent set as Desktop/ipad is also good enough. (Desktop-like interface)

Some questions about the Nexus 7

1. Does this tablet have I/O issues like the ASUS Transformer line does?
2. Can I somehow add a full size USB port to the N7?

1. I am not sure what issues you are talking about so can't answer
2. Google "micro to usb" to see some adapters. No guarantee it'll do whatever you want it to do but I believe it won't do anything unless you root your N7 and then get the free app "Stickmount"
The I/O issue stands in the tab being very slow when something is being read or written in the background (torrent, for example). The Prime almost crashes when there is something like that. When browsing on the Prime you get a ANR (application not responding) message often. So does the N7 have these kind of issues?

I have not experienced any of those issue, although I do not download torrents to a 16GB tablet..
But when games are downloading Content in the background, I have had no "ANR" or crashes
I have the transformer prime and n7 and the n7 definitely does not have the I/O issues that the transformer line suffers from. As for the full size usb, just do a little research into rooting and it'll be easy

I wandered over here to see if anyone else got this update, or knew what it was supposed to address. I didn't even see anything on the ASUS site. I did bite the bullet, but then again I'm not rooted or anything. I'm good with stock.
I was just comparing my system details to the OP and the kernel version and system build numbers are different. Just curious is your tablet rooted.
So far so good. Market is still very slow on installing apps. Haven't noticed much of a difference from previous version, but still testing.

I must be lucky, I have never had a random reboot on this device since I purchased it in May.

Only thing i noticed after updating is the Batman Dark Knight Rises game finally plays smooth.. Still has a bit of lag but generally smooth.

I wish I had root for it but that has to wait for end-of-warranty unlocking or a new method to root JB. I'd clear the dalvik-cache & repair permissions if I had the chance but that has to wait. *sigh*
I had plenty reboots on mine, but then I noticed that it had something to do with the power button. I sent it to warranty to change the power button and I never had a reboot since that. I did this update too and I can't notice any diference.
Updated this morning from WW_epad-10.4.2.13-20120907 to WW_epad-10.4.2.17-20121018 and Voodoo rootkeeper restored root without any problem.

Mmm... spoke to soon.
1/ On boot I get 'starting apps' and 'Android is upgrading' messages everyboot (just for a second each)
2/ BSplayer will no longer work (would not start at all) or re-install. Trying to re-install gives an 'insufficient storage space' error - not true planty of space available (17GB+).
