Hi Everyone
I'm having a problem with my lapdock. When I plug my Atrix in and select 'Motorola Webtop', everything appears to work; the screen shows the PC-like desktop, and I see a mouse. However, the mouse and keyboard on the lapdock don't work. Instead, my phone turns into a touchpad and keyboard. Navigating the screen requires me to lower the laptop dock screen to navigate via the phone.
Turning the small white light on the laptop dock's touch pad makes no difference.
How to enable keyboard and touchpad?
A couple of things -
Do you have a case on the phone? Go ahead and remove it, and remove the spacer on the lapdock next to the ports so that you have a little more wiggle room for the atrix. Try putting it back on now, and press it down so that it's snug and see if that works.
Are you on a stock rom? If not, does the rom you're using have a lapdock fix of some sort? If it does, use it, if you're already using it, try reflashing and retry without it.
I put the phone to the dock as much as I can but the result was same.
I'm on Alien ROM with Webtop HDMI hack. Is it possible this hack to make problems - the phone recognize the dock as TV.

Hello All,
I have a custom dock, with the USB port on the bottom so the phone is laying horizontal with the buttons to the right.
Obviously the G2 doesn't recognize it as a real dock, so I dont get the dock menu when inserted, or the screen dim, or clock and weather display.
Any way to force the G2 to think my fake dock is the real G2 home dock? Thanks in advance for any help.
You could use Tasker to go into dock mode when the G2 is charging, that should work
I DIY a dock using "Paper clay" and USB cable...
and my dz can only recognized that was a USB link ....so i set a car dock and clock shortcut on ADW desktop...
id love to see pictures of your dock

Me too. I need a dock. The size won't matter too much, as long as the job gets done. Anyone else want to see his dock?

Tasker doesnt work. It sucks. What is paper clay?
I will take pictures and upload after work.
I just got my keyboard dock (finally!) and just started to use it.
When docked, the position of the latch in mine is in the middle, and I can push it to the left to unlock/undock it.
Is this normal, or the position supposed to be all the way in the right when docked?
I tried to push it all the way to the right but I could not.
I also noticed when I simply dock the tablet, it does not go all the way to the bay, there is a bit gap. When its closed (like a laptop lid), the tablet is a bit out (not alliged perfectly to the keyboard). I can push it down though, but it does not happen by itself when docked. I hope that's the case with you all.
I like it so far! Very fast typing!
Just too bad no battery indicator for the keyboard dock (but hope that will change in the next firmware upgrade, I saw it somewhere already the demo with the keyboard dock battery indicator).
Don't be afraid to push it all the way in until it's all the way to the right.
Another way to be sure if it's all the way in, is to close the tablet and see if it's flush with the dock.
just wiggle the tablet back and forth while putting some pressure on it til it clicks all the way. the latch is just finnicky
After using my keybord dock for 2 weeks, I still have hard time docking it.
Everytime I dock it, the latch never goes to the right all the way, it always stays in the middle (see attached pic).
Do you guys have the same issue?
If I tried to push the latch, sometimes I can move it the right, sometimes I cannot.
I believe its supposed to click by itself just like that, when we dock the tablet.
And with the latch position in the middle, actually if I pull the tablet, it will come out, without the need to unlatch it (moving the latch to the left side).
Is mine defected?
Yes mine is same way, always has been, I have to first push it down straight to get it to go halfway, then I sorta push down on the right side a bit more sometimes push the left some more and it then goes all the way to the right. Kinda sux but doesn't worry me.
Mine definitely seems easier after the first time, but will still do the same thing. I'll get the lock to slide to the right half way and then have to sort of wiggle it a bit (pressing down harder on the left and then the right) until it slides all the way to the right. Then it is definitely locked in there good.

Same here
Same here, mine won't go beyond the middle position when the tablet is docked (and yes, it is definitely pushed in all the way).
Obvious, but a tip nonetheless. Hold the switch at the left (open) position while docking, and the tablet slides in far more easily.
I use to have this issue too but I wasnt affraid to push on mine. Put that bad boy on a hard table and push that sucker down till it latches all the way over. After about 4 days of doing this it got better.

Put your palm in the middle of he bottom of the keyboard. Then with your other hand on the top middle of the screen push till it clicks.
If you leave it halfway the keyboard will connect and disconnect often.

I just received my dock (Finally!!!) and I DO NOT have have the same issues as you guys have. I just push it and it clicks in nicely! maybe because I got the 2nd or 3rd batch of hardware? dunno!
Also make sure the latch is all the way to the LEFT before trying to dock the tablet. I noticed the latch can be moved left to right, activating and deactivating the locking mechanism. (I was playing around with it 'undocked' to see how it works)
oh and everything should line up perfectly when docked. if not, 'you are doing it wrong'

well, you don't say what happens, but here's what I did:
10 foot micro to normal hdmi cable.
Plugged it into the tablet. Plugged the other into the TV. Turned on the TV.
Works great! Btw, the bottom bar with the buttons and clock do not show on the TV (by design.)
I have 2 and both have issues if your holding the tablet with HDMI plugged in. It seems the port is a bit weak and so laying it down is the best way for them to work.
Me too
I can't get anything to show on my Panasonic 720P Plasma. Would the native resolution of the TV be a factor?
I've tried 3 different cables, tried jiggling the connections...the micro HDMI does seem to wiggle a little bit...almost like it's a little loose
I bought a cheap cable off ebay, plugged it in, selected HDMI input on the TV and it works perfectly.
Mine is a rooted stock 3.1 but it also worked prior to the 3.1 upgrade.
I thought the same first time I tried.
Turned out to be cable. Got another and that was fine. Worked first time.
Got a replacement for the original and managed to break that on the first go.
To paraphrase Archimedes, Give me a HDMI port small enough and I will break it.
It only takes a litttttle bit of vertical jiggling and it snaps the end off.

Same here, used micro to hdmi cable included in my Motorola Droid X (in Mexico it's called Motoroi X).
Works nice, it mirrors all but bottom bar and not only by desing but also screen is 800px tall and 720p well... 720px tall, so bar is hidden wich is perfect BUT:
Youtube app ROCKS in HDMI, you see the video in your big screen but you see complete layout in your tab, comments, relared videos, video playing in mini mode etc. but I found that sometimes doesn't work (very rare), also flash sometimes works nice and sometimes it kicks you in the balls.
Hi guys -
Just bought a new Microsoft Arc Touch mouse. This thing looks / feels / operates like it's from outer space - "cool" is an understatement! (Check it out: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/arc-touch-tutorial
I'm very impressed with it. It's a wireless mouse that uses a little "nano" receiver that plugs into the USB port and stays put, and the mouse 'stretches' completely flat and slips in a netbook case with my TF. Honestly, the perfect companion... or so I thought.
The problem is that every 2-3 seconds, the mouse cursor freezes for about 1 second. The mouse motion itself is fine; scrolling works wonderfully... except for this freezing issue, which renders it unusable. I've tried turning all radios off, plugging / re-plugging in the receiver -- no improvement. I also have another Microsoft Bluetrack mouse (different model) that has the EXACT same symptoms.
Can anyone comment on why this is happening, or if this has happened to you? I actually remote in to my PC at home for work all day / every day, so I really wanted to avoid taking along bulky mice with me. This thing would have been perfect... :s
Me too. If you check the system messages it brings up a lot of messages about usb 1.1 when it freezes.

Ahh... interesting! How exactly do you pull up those 'system messages'?

Nice looking mouse.
I use a cheap logitech M305 ...has a nano receiver but doesn't flatten out in my carry case..
No freezing..
Hey guys,
Basically I'm currently reviewing the Smart Dock and was wondering if anyone else has one and a Galaxy S4.
I have connected the S4 to the Smart Dock but for some reason it only comes out at 720p max on a monitor and a TV. I tried two other TV's and it doesn't even show up on them.
I'm not sure if it is an issue with me device or compatibility with my S4 and the Smart Dock. I have tested the Smart Dock with an S3 and it displays at 1080p on any TV I connect it too.
So if anyone else has the Dock and S4, can they tell me if it is outputting correctly!
I'll try it on my wife's s4 when she gets home and report back. Barely had a chance to mess with it. Had it for just a few days and I've only ever used it to mirror my Note 2. Haven't even thought of plugging hers in yet.
Aside from charging really fast, I'm pretty disappointed in it so far. The streaming quality is pretty dismal and it's kind of a pain to scroll when you have to force landscape and look at it sideways. I'm gonna hook up a wireless mouse when I get a chance and see if it makes it easier.

Cheers, I really appreciate it. I have noticed that the S4 does seem to have some more tricks. For instance, it will turn off the device display if it detects a mouse is connected to the dock and I have notice it auto rotate itself when docked, however this was with apex launcher, so not sure if touchwiz does as well, but still it was a plus, but something ultimate rotate set to landscape when docked is just as handy.
Anyway, thanks again for the help, let me know how you get on.
1080 here brotha. Actually works better then my Note 2. Sad considering the dock is made for the note.
Edit running stock, unroooted rom and works in 1080 on both my Samsung smart tvs. Haven't tried on a comp yet. Let me know if there's anything particular you want me to test out bro.

I received my smart dock today (EDD S20EWEG) but when i insert my S4 (9505) into it, nothing happens, Do i need to enable "dock mode" or is it supposed to be automatic(plug and play)? I tempted to return it for a replacemeent , but if i'm doing something wrong it would be great to know before i get a replacement only to find out that the issue is the same
Edit: removing the battery helped
hi
Hello, I have a problem when connecting a peripheral (mouse, keyboard, etc) the screen automatically flips and turns black, saying, which it is connected by hdmi too. that's not right.
otherwise it has explain, does not leave me connect the mouse and keyboard, because the s4 assumed that this also connected the hdmi.
