Is there a way to run Ubuntu from the SD card and still run one of the JB ROMs?
Any help would be appreciated

I believe the only way is through the pseudo dual boot over your SD card, found here.

I want to switch to a 16gb sd card and i copied everything i have in my old one to the new but it never passes the logo screen. What are the steps necessary to do this successfully?

I do not really have an answer to your question, but I did discover something cool about stock FroYo.
I had moved a bunch of apps to the SD card (via the official way) and was somewhat concerned about installing a larger SD card as I was unsure if my apps would copy over properly or more importantly be recognized as being present on the SD card at all.
I copied all DATA from my old SD card to my new SD card and booted up the device, at first none of my moved apps appeared to be installed, but after about 3 or 4 minuets all my previous installed apps populated in the launcher.
Color me impressed,
Dan
Im using a miui rom and i copied everything to the new sd and then when i turn on the phone i can see the miui logo but then it geys stuck there...

i think its because some of miuis stock applications are installed onto the sd card. try making an ext partiton and then reflashing the same version of miui you have without wiping and it should boot up fine again without losing all your data
That should not be an issue unless you are using official stock OS or you have previously forced moving system apps to sd...

You keep saying you copied everything over. That's probably not true. Check to make sure all the hidden files were copied over too, and that any extra partitions have been created and copied over too.
If you're using an ext partition, your pc probably won't see or copy it...

Ok so how do i partion. can someone explain that to me. Thanks

You would've had to set up the ext partition yourself, so if you don't know how to do it, I'm guessing you don't have an ext partition...

Yep i guess i dont.... well i'll find someone to do it for me

You partition you sd card in the recovery, there's an option for that.

Easiest way to partition an sd card with ext and fat flavors is via Linux... grab your favorite usb bootable linux (like ubuntu or mint) if you're not already made the switch, boot your notebook via usb, stick your sd card and partition as you like it...

I'm trying to root my NC 1.2, and I've downloaded the CM image to write to my sd card. The trouble I'm having is that win32 diskimager doesn't read the files at all. I've extracted them to my desktop, and every time I use win32 to try to burn the bootable sd card, it doesn't even read those files. Can someone tell me what I can do to fix this? Many thanks in advance.
What're you trying to do exactly?
Do you want to root it and leave it on 1.2, install cm7 to the emmc, or instal cm7 to the microas card?

I assume your trying to make a bootable sd card to run CM7. Make sure you are running win 32 as admin. If that doesn't work try winimage to burn it.

Looking to install android on a sd card like this http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/03/04/psa-please-dont-pay-80-for-a-nook-color-sd-card-that-runs-honeycomb/. This is going to my grandmother so I was looking for a simple solution so she could boot either by inserting and removing the sd card. Can CM7 run this way? And does this method still work, and do I need to root?

Yes it can be done and no you do not have to do anything to the stock software on the main memory. Follow this guide:

There is a brand new CM7 (7.2-RC1) build just released. Get it here:

tutorial is step by step, if you don't understand any part please have a question in that part
Easy steps
1. Use minitool partition manager on PC to make sd ext4 partition on your SD card...larger the better.2gb is good...make sure the ext4 partition is also primary and not logical (download the minitool software from internet)
2. Copy your favorite native SD rom zip folder to SD card
3. In magldr ..go to ad recovery..install zip from SD...(same like nand install..but you will get a different installer here....then follow instructions ..default path install is SD ext
4. In magldr, change android sd directory to boot from native sd folder ( settings/ boot settings/ ad sd dir / select native sd folder here)
5. Reboot
Enjoy

Hi everyone, it only looks that I'm a new user, it's because i've never posted anything before. I have Hd2 for almost 2 years from now and like 1,5 year being passive user on XDA. Anyway I do have problems that i can't manage myself. OP asked a dumb question, only if he has Android Nand or Windows Mobile, however... nobody ever tried making it work with WP7? I've been working on it few hours and don't have a clue how to do it. I've deleted my FAT32 partition and split it into Fat32+Ext4. If EXT is logical, WPH boots and show "Storage Card not working", but if it's primary it doesn't even boot. Is there anyway to solve this thing? Any help much appreciated, thanks.
Thanks for helping..i'll try..
one question.. its possible use wp7 and nand android with native methode?
Is possible with anything on nand... for wp7 follow Robbie's advice in the original thread
Sd ext 3 is not useful.. otherwise we all could have partitioned from cwm itself ... we need ext4 hence partition on PC required

No boot into internal WM6.5 with MAGLDR !
I just had to flash my orginal rom as MAGLdr does not work with Win 6.5 on internal.
There is no way back as it only boots into WP.
Is there a way to install nativeSD without MAGLdr?
Sofar my searching was not successful.
I like to try nativeSD hoping it is quicker then just SD.
Yes, with WM6.5 you just boot up recovery itself (clrcad and haret, as always, just in /recovery folder) and install the rom to prepared beforehand EXT4 partition.

You should not make full sd.... ext4.... only 2 or 3. Gb... depending on the number of roms you want... rest should be fat32

I'm looking to get rid of this phone with android on it, but keep my sd cars. I used the magldr and clockworkmod. Well I be able to take my sd out, factory reset(from magldr i assume) and give the person a working android hd2? Or would I need to put another sd card in and start over?

Just format it as FAT32, use something along the lines of Panasonic SD formatter
