Gad, you're such an optimist! :fingers-crossed:
I've got the notification pending, but I just wont update my Tab as long as I cant make sure I'll be able to root it instantly..: I just NEED root.. proxy purposes...
Super Easy Root method seem to work only with Honeycomb.
Does anyone went across any way to root stock ICS builds?

Upgrade to Canuck version???
OK, so I am running the Italian ROM and have rooted my Rogers 7500 tab and all is running very well; will I gain anything by "upgrading" to the newly released Canadian ROM?
Thanks
For what it was worth I was running a rooted tab with CWM installed and the update to 4.04 went smooth as butter for me, and it even kept root and all my apps that require root. No issues whatsoever.
It is MUCH better now than with 3.2 btw
Ota didn't work for me. I had to use kies

Lol I hate that the 3G people are able to get it before the wifi people. I initially gotten the wifi tablet because I was under the assumption that Samsung would release it first because Rogers would have to do their thing to it which would take twice as long.
Oh well my Nexus 7 is easing the stress of Samsung.
Rogers 7500, took the upgrade via Kies, all went good, installed cwm 5.then rooted all is good...... Sent from my GT-P7500R using xda premium
I got tired of waiting when I heard the update was pushed back to September so I went ahead and installed the Pershoot CM10 rom. Now its going to be a tough decision to go back and install the official ICS update. Either way, getting the Tab off Honeycomb made a huge difference.

And Rogers released 2 days ago according to OP. Where do they find this kind of farfetched mis-information? I know that all dates are tentative, but this is where they wet their thumbs, stick em up in the air and guess what weather it is in the Antarctic...
I am still hoping for a very near P7510 ICS release, or CM10, with limited Camera functionality, will be the way to go... Not that I won't go that path anyhoo...
With cm9 (7510) pretty much fully functional now I'm done with my weekly restores to 3.2 . When the 7510 ics releases I'll grab it just to have for warrenty purpose and upload it for people who forget to backup before they play but all the apps I use from the stock us rom work on cm9 from TB backups. Heck can even install apex launcher and touchwiz addon for the Samsungish look :good:
I am running stock US and am already over my warranty period. Lol, screw the wait! There is so much good stuff here I dont think I could go back if I tried. Once the stock firmware is available tho I will do what bertie is doing and just grab the TAR.
Cool

To be fair, they released 5 days before September. I fail to see any far fetched mis-information.
I mean they could have held the update until September 10th and still been in early September.

Now us Wifi guys will have to wait some more weeks before we are deemed noticed and get the non-carrier ICS update.
I'll say it again lol. I gave up on a wifi OTA a long time ago. I am on stock tweaked US ICS and super happy.

I hate to have to ask this question, but I've read 6 or 7 threads in the last hour and can't find a straight answer. I'm in S. FL. Will Froyo be updated on our phones automatically?
I understand I can update manually, but I don't have time for that, which is part of the reason I left WinMo.

If you are not stock Android 2.1 (Eclair), you won't.
Yes. If you are not rooted and stock rom, you'll get a notice on your phone over the next few days when it's your area's turn. If you are rooted, you should still get it if you are on stock rom and all the bloatware is still there.

The first update we received a few months back took a week to get to my phone, and it kept popping up at rather inconvenient times when it finally showed. The visual voice mail update took 4 weeks to get to my phone. I'm in Central FL
I did the simple update method, which I posted about here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964260. I had my update installed before most OTAs, and I did it on my time. You could do it on your lunch break without issue.

Just realize that the Samsung tool wipes everything on your phone, and if you are on stock 2.1 I don't think there is any good way to back up everything. (no clockwork backup and titanium wont work w/o root)
My backup pro works just fine. it will save data and apps with data.

So is that it, Samsung not going to release the fixed Froyo!? After waiting eternity, Samsung released a long over due Froyo just to shutup pissed customers, only for the release to be buggie and them take it down shortly after and totally forget about us again! I think this will be the last Samsung phone I ever buy!
Samsung = company that only cares about future products...not supporting current/old ones.

NICE! I was actually on Lightning 6.1 for the past few days then got bored and decided to go back to stock since I just got a USB Jig to reset the counter. I just plugged it into Kies and the update dropped! Talk about timing. I really do prefer official updates.

yes it's 2.3.3 and it took me freakin 8 times retry to complete. it stalled arbitrarily between 30% - 80% for no obvious reason and no error code except: fail
well, an official update is always welcome anyway. and i still kinda like it "stock" for the moment
Yes, I was also really really hoping for a 2.3.4 update as I'm still trying to stick to stock.
After updating, I was really hoping that the Android OS bug in the battery use would have definitely been addressed seeing as it's been such a big pain in the @$$ so surely Samy would have fixed that first but nope, I still have the Android OS showing as 80 - 90% battery usage!! so I still barely get a day out of it if I'm lucky.
and yes, I had the same issues to while updating - I'm located in India and using a 10 mbps connection and it still struggled 5-6 times before it could complete the download. I read somewhere it is due to Samsung's crappy servers - not sure how far thats true but looking at the results from people from most parts it looks like the same.
Anyone notice any differences at all? Or does this update just change the number to make us feel happier, officially? Why is there never a changelog or perhaps I am just unaware of it.
It downloaded fine for me without interruption.
They really don't give a change log. Sammy thinks that firmware update improvements should be a surprise. Lol.

Smart move on Asus' part. Release the update three days "early", and suddenly everybody's so pitifully grateful to get what Google should've made a year ago, that they've forgotten all about the delivery delays, faulty GPS, problematic Wifi and Bluetooth, downgraded monaural audio, etc. etc.
And all they had to do was make a slightly conservative promise on a delivery date, then move it three days earlier.
Would be nice to wake up to ics update. Correct me of I'm wrong but those of us that are rooted and flashed a custom ROM would have to unroot to receive an Fota update right?

I haven't forgotten anything: I wanted that Prime so bad I could hardly stand it, but after all the screwups and ASUS's refusal to fix them, I'll be taking delivery of a TF101 in about two days. $500 is simply too much to buy into that kind of trouble, but I still believe in the tablet/ultrabook idea.
This is just great news. I'm anxiously awaiting the TF101 ICS update. Great job, ASUS!

Technically yes, but actually the official ICS is only for US devices. It's been out for more than a week and Toshiba still hasn't even announced ICS "update" for any other regions yet.
Its been out in the US for a while and i who lives in Australia, still havnt got the update. This happened with honeycomb 2.1. They had it in America for a while, then it eventually hit us. However, i think ICS wont come to us for a while, or ever...
It seems that we will have to wait forever, no update for Singapore either Now, no more news about the update.

Should be smoother and the Magazine UI. Kitkat was designed to work on lower spec devices than Jelly Bean. There are man many more differences. If you check Wikipedia, they do a good job of listing the changes.
