Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the orange led by the earpiece and/or physical button lights on the bottom of the phone when charging? The lights keep my wife up at night...
Currently running fresh 2.0d by the way.

Not to sound like a jackass, can't you just turn the phone over so the light is facing down?

Glass Desk? (Yes I have this problem if I sleep on one side of the bed lol).
It really would be nice to have a bit more control over the LED though.

yes, but that doesn't disable the lights, so its not an answer to the question, but possibly the only workaround if not possible. i don't have a "naked" phone so i'm also not sure if without a case the trackball wouldn't be in the way of facing it down
i'm interested in this too as i'd rather have my phone face up at night vs. down so that instaed of having to grab my phone to disable an alarm, i can just reach over and swipe it down or snooze...

I run a clock on the phone at night. I got desperate enough last night to carve "endcaps" out off styrofoam to cover the lights...not very elegant, but works for now I suppose.

He said the lights keep his wife up, so I would think it is a solution since the light would be facing downwards and thus be much less visible.
I was going to look in to this since I already know how to control the leds via command line... but I would rather not re-invent the wheel.
Search the market for leds hack (put the s in leds or it won't find it. I believe it's also a protected app so make sure you're on a rom that shows it). Run it, select Nexus 1. Done.
The trackball led stays on at first but just hit the power button and it turns off. I know it says it only works for droid and nexus1 but I just tested it for you.

I have been using this for a while with bedside pro. the track ball does stay on. I have not been able to figure out how to turn it off.

On my phone it turns off and stays off as soon as I put the phone to sleep. Well anyways I just spoke to the developer and let him know what's up with it and he's going to look in to disabling the trackball. I offered my assistance if he needs any help tracking it down on our phones.
Keep the phone right side up...put your wife upside down.

LOL...that might work for a week or two more, but she's about 21 weeks pregnant, so not much longer

I sent the dev of that app I was talking about exactly what he needs to disable our trackball. He said he should be able to get it done tonight. I'll let you guys know. I have 0 use for this app but I just figured his was so close that I'd help the last little bit.

I put my phone on a dock, and it serves as my alarm clock. I like to be able to see what time it is, so turning phone down is not an option. Right now I slide the top of an old phone holster over the top inch or 2 of the phone just to block the LED.

Hmm...This app seems to be disabling my trackball as is...
EDIT: But i'm not using a dock, just a power cable...
Wow, I have to say I envy you guys who get to sleep in such dark rooms.
For the past 20 years of so I've been so close to bright street lights that even with heavy curtains something as dim as the LEDs on a phone isn't even noticable (much less be enough of a bother to keep me awake...).
It's one of the things I absolutely love about camping, getting to sleep in actual darkness.
I know I'm not offering any solutions here, just saying that if you can even notice the LEDs on the phone at night, be thankful that you don't have much light pollution to deal with.

Haha, I have electrical tape over all my LED's on computers etc in my room. I have two sets of blinds, and my area is just dark to begin with.
Darkness > *
The phone I just turn upside down though so it's never been an issue.
Luckily for me my wife hasn't said anything about my Hero keeping her up. But then again, I don't charge it while I sleep. My old phone had an LED all the way across the top of the phone and blinked every 15 seconds. I had to turn that one upside down or cover it with clothes.

I take it back, when plugged into my computer and set to "charge only" there are no lights, but when plugged into the AC adapter, the trackball still lights up...in case anyone was wondering
I dropped my S4 the other day and cracked the glass but it continued to work. A few days later I picked the phone up and hit the side button to bring up the display and now all I get is a flash and the screen remains black. Rebooted, pulled battery and still does the same. You can still hear emails coming in and when I get a phone call I can swipe the screen and take the call but it remains black. The only thing that lights up is the led and the menu and back button. I took it apart looking for a loose cable but saw none. Any ideas? New digitizer?

you should send it to the SC bro
I broke my phone and just received a new one from the Geek Squad. Two things. When I make a phone call the screen immediately goes black and won't come back on until I push the on button on the back. Really sucks, hard to end call. Also when it times out I have a really hard time getting the screen to light up again. Some times it takes 8 to 10 times pushing the on button and swiping the screen. Any ideas?

I would go back and Tell them to fix it. Did they repair your screen? It is possible that the proximity scanner was not plugged in properly or out of its slot.

Hi guys, I have replaced my screen today and the problem is that sometimes when I click the unlock button it shows me the screen and then goes back to a blank screen as if I just pressed the lock screen again this happens a few times then it lets me use my phone. Does anyone maybe know why or know solution out there.
Thank you
I have seen this sort of problem on my G2 VS980 which turned out to be an issue caused by not having enough light in the room. It's been a couple of years since it happened, so I don't remember if the phone settings had anything to do with it. If this is happening when the phone is in a dark area, then try turning on a nearby light and see if it behaves normally.

I have this happen to me daily lately, usually for me my phone reboots and screen is back up, but I'm worried it won't come back one of these days unfortunately. My bottom keys light up too, but screen just goes black. Occasionally my screen comes back on its own but usually needs a reboot
