Looking for complete Howto: Defy+ / CyanogenMod installation / under Ubuntu - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I try to install the latest Version of Cyanogenmod (http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=nightly&device=jordan) on my new Defy+, using Ubuntu 12.04
But.. I fail. It seems there is no complete HowTo for Dummies written.
Here , I can find how to install ADB on Ubuntu and my device is recognised:

...but then, what?!
I want to a) delete all thats on the phone and b) install cyanogenmod and the google pack.
If I find several pieces to go through the comlete installation I am happy to make one complete post out of it for everyone.
Thanks,
Jean

That is for defy not defy+
You will get a frequently updated CM7 at fitsnugly.euroskank.com/?rom=cm7&device=jordanplus
Flash the ROM from here on your defy+.
Root your phone and install 2nd init. Then flash the rom in custom recovery. There are plenty of tutorials! Even videos! Google

1. Download & install the driver http://www.motorola.com/consumers/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=2cff07f8ef573210VgnVCM1000008806b00aRCRD
2. download and install RSD lite http://dl.atftas.us/OEM/Motorola/RSDLite5.6.msi
3. Do step 2 and 4 from this HowTo (wipe not necessary) http://www.android-hilfe.de/anleitu...fuer-bl7-stock-roms-2-3-6-dfp-188-hoeher.html
4. install 2ndInit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212 and activate it
5. copy the latest version of cyanogenmod on the sd card http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=nightly&device=jordan
6. restart entering the bootloader (press the sound button down when the blue light flashes while booting)
and now... I will try with the defy plus versions you send me! you have any other recommendation for strong defy plus versions? maybe a CM9 version?
thanks! and I will update later!

Cm9 has been stopped. Cm10 is latest.

problem in flashing a ROM of dell xcd35 (ZTE blade, Gen2)

I tried to upgrade my dell xcd35 (ZTE blade, Gen 2, froyo 2.2) to
jj_95nano's custom ROM. Now it does not go beyond the galaxy SII animation which suppose to be the custom ROM's starting animation. Neither i'm able to reset it to its original ROM which i backed up with CWM/ROM manager as no recovery screen appears.
What I did is,
1. Root it with z4root.
2. Took backup of current (original ROM) on SDcard
3. Download the custom ROM from http://db.tt/ZBUxXAmi as suggested by weeo on thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1602335
4. copied it to root of my SDcard
5. using ROM manager flashed it (after reboot).
6. Then original Dell animation followed by repeated Galaxy SII animation is displaying but not proceeding further.
7. Now I Can't even switch it off using power button.
8. I tried power+home, power+menu , power+home+vol+ , then vol- instead. almost all combinations to reboot in recovery mode. but it doesn't.
9. I can put it off by replacing battery only, however, I can put ON using power button.
Can anybody help me? This is my first experience of rooting any android (I'm afraid, at the cost of my new phone? ). plz help me.

Have u tried waiting? First boot can take up to 10 minutes. It could also be because u didn't wipe data and cache partitions
Alternatively u will have to install cwm via adb.
Yeah 2 ways to get out of this if it refuses to boot into the rom or recovery mode. Flash adb via recovery ( I wrote some instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24932544 ) or if adb can't be recognised since you cannot boot, use a tpt.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk 2
Did your blade meet the minimum partition specs? It should work anyway though as its GEN2. Use adb.

Thankx QuantumFoam, you were right!
I didn't wait for enough time after boot.
Thanks matt4321 and karthiknr for your valuable comments which helped me deduce to the exact problem.
The problem was solved after reading 'debricking' in ModaCo forum.
I said i tried all the combination for fastboot, but power + volume down, and that was actually worked for cwm recovery. I've restored the original one.
I request, if possible, plz suggest me a good 2.3.x ROM for my dell xcd35(ZTE blade,Gen2).
hurray..i've made it (though restoring) with ur help !
If you want customization go for CyanogenMod 7.1 or a KANG of some sort. For pure stability and decent battery life (with some tweaks) go for Swedish Snow RLS7 which is what I'm running, I love it. CM7 is 2.3.7 and Swedish Snow is 2.3.5
Sent from my ZTE-BLADE using Tapatalk 2
The best is definitely cyanogenmod. Lots of customization ,Theme support, inbuilt equalizer etc.
However if u want an ICS look there's an IceCreamBread rom that combines gingerbread stability with ICS framework
Which one is better....... Cm 7. 2.3.7 or swedish snow rls7 2.3.5 for dell xcd35

[Q] Any WIUI doesn't work on my device :(

Hi
My device: Motorola Defy CyanogenMod 7.2 off st bootmenu 2.0.0, multiboot defy 0.5 (2.2.2, Poland, green camera SOC, JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_179 deodex, radio EPU93_U_00.59.01)
I try to install WIUI (2.4, 2.5, 2.6) from different sources on Multiboot (cache - 150mb, data - 750mb, system - 350mb) more than 15 times. Doesn't work:
2.4-2.5 - black screen
2.6.15,16,22 - first load, work screen, reboot and than cyclic reboot from the boot animation
CM7, CM9, MIUI 2.4 work fine
Flash yesterday JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_179 deodex - didn't help
Help me please.
P.S. I do not have enough posts to post in the topic of firmware WIUI
Is there anyone in the house?

Does it boot without multiboot?

I didn't try because I need stable main firmware with all working functions for all days using. Now it's CM7.2

Maybe issue with multiboot.
Wiui GB is very stable. go for it. Its based on CM 7.2
Do you have installed multi boot manager? Look up if something is wrong (written in red), this is an bug i had sometimes. But will try it if its working on an other defy.
- So 2.6.8 is working s virtual for me the other version will test later

Yes, I have. CM7, CM9, MUIU work fine.
I even flashed MIUI 2.4 and than flash WIUI 2.6 over MUIU 2.4. Didn't help
Check the md5 sum? Sometimes i got trouble because the zip wasn't complete. And file size was 0kb.

[Q] unable to install MIUI

Hello friends,
I have installed custom ROMs many times before... I have tried MIUI, cyanogenmod 9, etc...
But, before few days my phone had stuck at the boot logo, so I flashed it using the SBF- JRDNEM_U3_3.4.3-36-1.7
my phone is Motorola Defy (green lense) MB525...
Now, when I am trying to install MIUI or WIUI , it is showing installation complete,
but, after rebooting the system it is booting in my Normal FROYO only...
How can I install MIUI on my phone again now????
What the.. unbelievable.. Ok then try a newer 2ndinit apk and check the installation zip files. Is the problem limited to miui or does it happen with ANY ROM?
Sent from my MB526 using xda premium

Thank you very much buddy!!
Actually, this time I was using "tenfar recovery" on my friends suggestion... I think there was some problem with that...
Now, after flashing my defy I installed the newer version of "2nd init recovery"...
And MIUI is running well on my defy now...
