My update download failed after 99 percent, now can't find update or it says failed when checking. Do you know where this 99 percent would have been stored? Maybe I can launch it from my file directory to get this going?

Your looking at something that didn't fully download you just want the update right no root?

I am rooted, so would be very happy to get the ota to work. I am using supersu with voodoo back up. Have tried dm/cm wipe, plus temporary unroot , cold boot, and removing sd card.

You could download the update off Asus website and extract in your internal sd folder but after that you will lose root

Know it is not possible to root JB with locked bootloader, however, is it posible to root JB with unlocked bootloader?
Do not need to install any special recovery, stock recovery, stock JB + root.
Would like to do:
1) manual update to JB using using file downloaded from Asus
2) unlocking bootloader
3) root "only"

i've successfully installed jb, but my device isn't recognising my microsd...
i've checked at these location /mnt/ - /removable/ - /storage/ -...but still cant find my microsd
i've tried remove/reinsert & rebooting (as well as cold booting) many times, but still no solution...
anybody has the same problem? any suggestion?

And why would you lose root access? Flashing the file this way should not wipe your data, thus the root remains.

im already on US_epaduser9_4_3_30 on my tablet been using it,so do i still have to download it from asus and install it again?

Since upgrading to jb, the Asus task manager widget causes a lock up on a black screen if i press the One Click button... anybody else experienced this on jb?

The updated is in root/cache/dlpkgfile. The download probably failed to the overwhelming demand of download requests around the world, since most ppl have WW. Just keep trying to download again.

Have you tried another sdcard? If non work there might be a problem with your slot, maybe try factory reset. If it still fails you might need to exchange it and/or conctat asus

It is know (like dothraki would say) that doing a manual update makes you lose root no matter what you do, you won't lose data but it seems something in the system gets overwritten making one lose root.

Try clearing the data from the task manager and/or doing a cold boot. I don't use the widget I have it disable though. If that doesn't work you might need to try a factory reset.

Just keep trying, wait a couple of hours and try again, my bet is that asus are overwhelmed with so many download requests. Failing download doesn't mean that your system is damaged or anything, after download if you get a laying android with a ! on top, then its failing installation.

Ok ppl, I am now on JB! Did a factory reset, then green arrow came right back. Root seems to have survived, trying to restore root now.....

it was working fine on ics before the update, idk if this is a bug in jb
i dont have other sdcard, so i cant tell, but its working fine before the update, so i think this is software related
is there any manual method of mounting the microsd, like using the terminal or anything? (since i have root)

[Q] TF101 ASUS Transformer Bricked? What? Please...Help?

I think I am gonna speak out the honest truth and say I wasn't lying, and here goes...
I followed up on Brks Root Kit v7 and it worked beautifully, then I saw another thread about getting root with losing the bricking fault, so I tried the nvflash to remove bricking...but I think I rewrote it too fast before thinking I better check the APPs on my Transformer and see if I got a super user apk in there, but I didn't and forgot to hestitate but bricked my TF101 Transformer
Help, It only is showing power up when I press it and gets stuck at boot of ASUS Screen page.
It's not bricked yet. Read the forum carefully mate.

run the nvflash again, make sure the recover and rom images are in the nvflash folder. it wil unbrick your TF, reroot and install the rom you put in the folder.

Problems seeing any OTA update

Hey, I am having a problem with my B70 TF101 Transformer. I am not seeing any available OTA updates at all. ICS may not be out yet for me, but I don't even see the .21 update.
Here's some background, everything was fine and I was running a rooted Transformer. I installed Busybox off the market and it proceeded to remove root and make everything stop working (wireless, bluetooth, a number of other things).
I ran these steps:
Update. trippmcnealy had success with a tweak to this. If it doesn't work you might want to follow his method.
1) Download http://www.multiupload.com/X65RBVD2MB
2) Unzip so you have just have "WW_epad-user-8.6.6.19.zip". Keep this zipped and copy to root of external SD.
3) Put another copy of the same file on your external SD card and name it "EP101_SDUPDATE.zip"
4) Put both files "EP101_SDUPDATE.zip" and "WW_epad-user-8.6.6.19.zip" on the root of your internal SD card.
5) Power down your TF
6) Power up into recovery - by pressing the power button and volume down button. Then press volume up when instructed by the screen.
7) You should now see the Android guy with some gears turning. This is good, actually this is GREAT! This will go on for a minute or so and then the device will reboot on its own. It will then go to the boot screen and you should see a bar showing you the progress of the update.
8) Once it has completed, install RazorClaw and root your device.
It allowed me to recover root and I am running .19 once more. Everything currently works beautifully, except I do not have any OTA updates available.
My concerns are twofold: I used WW_epad-user-8.6.6.19.zip as suggested, however I am in the US. I am wondering if that has an impact. I am also wondering if I don't see any updates because it THINKS I have .21 already completed somehow?
Any ideas?
I think 8.6.6.xx is for 3G version and the last version is 8.6.6.23. What tablet do you have?... Is only wifi or 3G version?..

You do have a custom rom on your tablet, you need to get the original update 8.6.5.21(US or WW) from asus web page and flash to stock. Then you will be able to get the OTA ICS rom.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
If you currently have WW_8.6.5.21 can you flash to US_8.6.5.21 or would that cause a problem. I have not been able to find that answered for the TF101
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
I'm confused as to how I got a custom ROM without root access at the time. Following those steps again with 8.6.5.21 is what I've been trying and it never sees the update. I put the file on both the internal and external SD in the root with two files named correctly.
I am downloading these zip files right off of ASUS' support site.

Well, now that the thread derailment is over. For anyone who is reading this looking for help in a similar situation, here is what I did:
- I installed RecoveryInstaller.apk (Google'd for it) so I could get CWM on the Tablet.
- I then upgraded to 8.6.5.21 with that. I lost root (and CWM), but did not see any OTA updates.
- I sort of gave up at this point, since I assume it's past recovering without wiping my tablet AGAIN (had to wipe it when I did the upgrade which got me into this mess).
- I then found an upgrade to ICS which does not kill root, so I re-installed CWM with RecoveryInstaller and then flashed to ICS with that. I probably still won't see OTA updates, but I have CWM and root so I can just flash them manually if needed.
Not an elegant solution, but I lost no data and my Android tablet appears to be running just fine.

TF300TG: problem updating to new firmware (.40)

My Pad just told me that there is a firmware update. It loaded the file and restarted. But after a minute or so the android-icon changed into a lying figure with a warning label on the open stomach.
I was able to restart and the pad told me that the update was broken and the old version restored.
I tried to get the update again but now the pad says there is no new version.
Now I got the new firmware (.40) from the asus website but I'm not sure if I should try to to flash it by myself. Will I still get OTA-updates after I flashed a firmware by myself?
Doing a manual update wont prevent you from installing future ota updates. Go ahead and install it.

I had the same thing when I made the OTA Update the first time. But in difference I could start it again, it downloaded again and the update seemed to run through.
But after that the TF300TG always stops at the boot screen (mentioned in an other thread).
I think ASUS has some serious troubles with the .40 update.
I haven't seen an update notification at all on my Prime.. I have done the system update manually every day and still have yet to get the update.. im not root and every thing still stock.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using XDA Premium HD app
I tried the manual update but unfortunately I got again the lying figure with the warning sign.
My device is rooted using the one-click-method.
Is it possible that this causes the problem? Do I have to unroot and maybe doing a hard reset to get the update?
I was told the problem with the flickering screen in Tegra-games should be solved, so I really would try to get it...
Do you still have the stock system recovery image installed?
I'm having the same problem but I have clockwork recovery installed, which probably works great on the TF300T but can't install the 3G modem software on the TF300TG.
That's why my update is failing anyhow.

Stock recovery is just the menu you get when you press <vol down> during boot, where you can choose to get a factory reset or a cold boot, isn't it?
I tried that, seems to work. I read about the other guy with the broken recovery, too (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795902). But as far as I understood he tried to unroot with the 1-click-method after the update to .40.
Update: I managed to install the new firmware. After I used the rootkeeper to temporarily unrooting the device the update ran without problems.
After the update the device was complete unrooted but I got back root using the tool here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706588
Unfortunately my issues with Tegra-games are not fixed with the new fírmware.

How to update ROOTED TF300 to Jelly Bean

i thought when we CHECK for update it only checks for update, so i went to setting and checked for it, after checking it said there's a new update, see notification, and it's downloading, i didn't know that, i thought it will let me choose weather download and install or cancel. so i turned off wifi to stop downloading, now it's 3%. and i can't cancel downloading.
- my tablet is rooted, how do i get root back after the update?
- i disabled a lot of system apps: maps, supernote, browser, mynet, mycloud,... and a lot more that i don't use. i only disabled them, i didn't uninstalled/removed/deleted them. do i need to re-enable them before update?
- i deleted CMClient.apk and CMClient.odex in /system/app for asus device tracker problem, but i have a backup of those files. do i need to copy them back to /system/app?
- i disabled the smart dimmer / dynamic contrast. do i need to enable it now?
- i installed root apps: adfree,...
and how can i cancel the update? will i be able to update again after cancel? i want to turn wifi on, now using my computer typing this.

UPDATE (8/18/2012 6:24 PM PT): it appears that if you have SuperSU installed (and ran for at least 1 time) and backed up root using Voodoo OTA root keeper before updating, you will be able to restore root after updating. So for those who have a rooted TF300 and want to keep root after updating to Jelly Bean, here's how:
- Your device is rooted and have SuperUser installed (of course)
- Download and install and run SuperSU.
- Download and install Voodoo OTA root keeper and use it to back up root.
- Update
- Use OTA root keeper to restore root.
- Done
Me and some people did not have SuperSU installed, so we lost root after the update, and we're waiting for a way to root our devices. Thank you

Use Voodoo OTA RootKeeper to backup your root access, and restore it after the update.
Trimis de pe Motorola Defy
You dont need to turn off wifi once it downloads it won't install automatically you have to select and tap on install. You will need to restore the deleted system apps for it to work. Disabled apps can remained disabled, not sure about the smart dimmer I would restore it just in case. Also if you have a modded build.prop you need to restore it to the stock one. So far the only rooted app that made me have boot loops on jb was ezoverclock so you should unnistall before. And if you are using atp tweaks restore to default noop and reboot before upgrading.

Voodoo didn't restore my root access after updating to Jellybean, so I think its kind of pointless. But when you make a backup of your root access, all the check marks should be highlighted.

[Q] Can't root, Upset/dissapointed/depressed

Yea, im starting to regret buying dis thing. Ive spent the whole day going through tutorials and stuff, and all ive managed to do is install a custom recovery (CWM) that cant mount anything because its being denied permission. how dandy... I have a TF300T and build 10.6.1.27.5. I've heard that this build is not rootable, but im trying to stay optimistic here, so if you want to ruin my month by saying there is no root... well Ill go kick a rock around the freeway. Im just kidding. But seriously this is complicated. I have a rooted Samsung E4GT. which is alot easier cause of Odin, but this... idk im lost. Ive tried Motochopper and Debugfs or something like that, tried many, cant root it. Looking for some help
Cheers
I was in the same boat. I ess able to downgrade though. And then root. It was very simple. I downloaded 10.6.1.15.3 firmware for US localization ( make sure you get the right one). I unzipped it and put the file on the root of my external sdcard. As soon as I put the sdcard back in it immediately prompted me to downgrade. Worked great for me, was able to root after that no problems.

What he said. Hope is not lost, my friend. Just be mindful that the process erases the internal memory. In other words, this will wipe EVERYTHING including media, which normally doesn't get speed when flashing roms.
Just be sure to back up everything on your pc and/or external sd.

So does thats not a OTA update right? I read that you can mess up your device if you install the wrong version of the recovery depends on how you updated it
I just got my hands on this device last week. I'm not new to Android or any of this, but I did run into a few issues. I was on 27.5 now I'm unlocked and everything.
How I did it was too downgrade to 15.3 using pjc21 guide, I could not complete the guide as I was not unlocked, but once I was downgraded I could unlock and use motochopper to get recovery.
Make sure you are registered on asus site to get unlock to work.
What do you mean be registered in the asus website? I downloade the unlock tool from the asus website under the firmware then installed it

You have to make sure that the "inner" zip is placed on the root of your sd card. Also, try rebooting the tab with the ext plugged in. Let us know.

One more thing, The SD card is from my Samsung phone, It recognized it as external memory and didnt mount it. That might be the reason?

Do your self a favor. Install twrp . Cwm is going to give you problems. Also I'm on 27.5 firmware. All updated. Then installed sdbags clean rom. It's based of 27.1 and fully rooted. Best and latest.

YAY, finally... rooted and custom recovery. Thanks guys for all the help!
Wait, if you installed recovery then you're unlocked. Flash twrp recovery v2.5.0.0-4.2. Next, download supersu.zip...somewhere around here and put in root of your internal storage. Last go into recovery, flash supersu.zip and you're rooted.
