upgrade android 2.2 to 2.3 - Galaxy Tab General

hi..
need help with the topic above..
how to upgrade this tab...
i search in the forum but i cant seem tu understand what everyone says....
can anyone help me to upgrade my tab..
step by step tq

Google and Download Samsung Kies. Launch Samsung Kies then connect your tab to your computer . If there is an update it will notify you.

You can now upgrade to 4.1.1. ----BTW, are you Indonesian??---
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app

There are many ways to upgrade your ver for tab.. in my country if via kies..i cannot upgrade my tab to ver 2.3.. so i have to do it manually via odin..
So how do you want to upgrade your tab? If you do it via kies.. it will only be the official 2.3 by samsung.. but if you want to learn to do it via odin.. you will learn something extra in the proses.. like how to root..and such..because the prosess is almost the same..
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app

There are many roms for P1000 that will upgrade you to 2.3.
Start by Googleing KIES. it is a program from samsung. it will install drivers onto your PC. then look for a rom and flash it. 2.3 is great but i would recomend going higher. probablty a stable version if ics would be good.

Go to the Overcome thread in development forum, visit overcomes site and download the safe restock, rom and PDF guide then follow guide.
If you cant follow the guide then you shouldn't be messing with your tab and instead just relying on Kies for updates.

Can I update to 4.0 or 4.1?

sure. plenty of choices based on CM9/AOKP/Paranoid for 4.0 and CM10/Paranoid for 4.1

If you like the game try 2.3.3 or latest gb, i use kmicic rom 6.1.1 base gb 2.3.6, gta3 runing very good

Nope, its working. Read the forums for details
When i apply spoof for NEE it detects software update but then stops just before downloading saying that your device already has the latest version installed.
And mine is froyo 2.2 at present :-(

Oh, you're still using 2.2 ? I'm on 2.2.1 from more than 2months and there is a hell of performance & speed difference in 2.2 & 2.2.1.
I would say just keep away from this ginger update as it is not worth to update.
Flash your SGS with JPJPM which is the 2.2.1 Froyo for Arabic region and it includes Arabic/Urdu/Persian. I'm using it and its excellent. You can read/type in urdu and browse all urdu/arabic websites which you can't on those european roms.
hmm let me check. but i am afraid i wont be able to get official updates through kies after this

No No.. Don't afraid it's very easy. And I am here to help you anytime. But remember to make a backup of efs folder before flashing anything. Don't hesitate to ask any question.
And by the way who uses KIES when there is a lot easier & time saving way.. i.e. Odin..
I flashed my phone using odin to 2.2.1 but then whenever I check the firmware version it said Csc unkown, but I was getting the signal so I let it be.
Now I'm looking forward for the gingerbread update and kies won't show my firmware version due to the csc problem. How can I update it to 2.3.3 now via odin? Help?
Find xwjvb firmware from xda and flash it via odin. Its awsome.

It has no arabic/urdu support bcoz it is released for the european region. And there is no major performance difference in 2.2.1 and this update. So i'm on my 2.2.1 JPJPM which supports urdu/arabic & is very smooth rom just like XXJPY.
We'll have to wait a while b4 they release it for our region
When they release it for our region, i'll switch to that one. Till that time its gud. I didnt find any flaw in this rom except urdu support. It has google maps 3d, new youtube and quite faster than froyo
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Whays quadrant standard rating for JPJPM? and does it have maps 3d?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Well something starnge happened with me. I got through KIES an update yesterday for Gingerbread but did not have time to go through with it. Today KIES shows that my current FW is the latest one. What is wrong here?
get the darkyy patch for arabic.
No idea.. It will take longer as usual..
And you're saying this bcoz you're shifting from 2.2 to 2.3.3. And you did never use 2.2.1.
All those things you're talking about (Maps 3d, New Youtube etc) have been already integrated to 2.2.1.
So for me there is no difference in 2.2.1 & 2.3.3 other than a new visual theme. So i'll stick to JPJPM (Froyo 2.2.1) till they release 2.3.3 for Our region that supports Full arabic/urdu. Asia usually gets update very late compared to European Region.

JVP, the best by far imho.
No lag, woohoo.
I haven't tried JVI yet.
Jkay has some cool theme mods for battery icons, so does $omator.
Hope this helps, I'm a noob too!
go for 2.3.4 JVP and flash via odim JV6 Modem so you can have 3G on 850 since your device is a i9000T for LATAM... or you could just flash i9000TUBJV6 Fw and enjoy your device with GB

Use my guide but with an appropriate firmware from samfirmware.
Not a hell lot you can do about the download speed. I suspect it might have something to do with hotfile - I get incredibly ****ty speed from hotfile, but not from any other file sharing service.
There should be a few threads lying around in the general section about stock roms. Try downloading from there instead of ****ty hotfile.

Before you flash anything you gotta make sure you have 2 backup plans. One is, of course, the nandroid backup. The other is having a stock firmware file you can flash with Odin in case everything goes to hell.
In my case, I have a JPU stock firmware stored on my home computer and on my work laptop. Every time I screw up so badly everything is FUBAR I go back to JPU and works like a charm.
Ah also, along with the JPU I have a CF-Root flashable file for JPU (just needs to be Froyo specific, not firmware release specific) so I can have root.
That's the only advice that hasn't been given to you already.
In reality, the Galaxy S is pretty hard to really brick. The bootloader may get corrupted but there's almost always a way out.
ok thanks guys +1
i will flash my phone with 2.3 and when I'am bored with it i'll flash it with some custom rom

Take a bow from me for you must be a very unique person indeed, especially in these times when most people are itching to port ICS even before the official launch!!
Hopefully you have Kies installed in your PC in which case, all you have to do is connect your phone to your PC,start Kies and you will be told about the update that is available which is going to be some version of Gingerbread depending upon where you live.
As for Froyo, you can download any Froyo package from 'Ramad's' posts that you will find with minimum search in these forums and then flash through Odin. You will also find elaborate tutorials that will give you a wealth of information.
You are a modern day Rip Van Winkle surely!
You might want to consider froyo 2.2.1 ZSJPK as that is the most stable of the Froyos.

No stupid question at all! found the news that only a small part of the android users is upgrading (in dutch)! guess the junkies of xda are not really representative! For your case i would recommend to install kies and all drivers to update according to your region! if you need a specific froyo do as above!

Plug in your phone to your computer and try upgrading through KIES. If you have any problems with that, then use Odin and grab some Froyo stock files...

Rooting have no concern regarding update
Update depends on
Your CSC And installed ROM, if your CSC is set to your region, Your ROM is same as official released version for your region, then you will get update.
BUT
Update with Kies/OTA will erase root.
so forget OTA/Kies, if you want to enjoy your device rooted, you are always safer in hands of XDA, thn kies/OTA. Whenever any update available, you will find it on XDA too.
Here is thread for all stock ROMs

That is the normal phenomenon when you play with flashing N modding without reading N understanding properly.
I had a poll earliear, N nobody was there who have brick device, when they follow instructions to the letter for rooting/updating.
After rooting and installing rocket rom I cannot update google search and a and market.
Otherwise all other apps update.
I wonder why google search app and market app won't upgrade.
