3500 mAh Battery not properly calibrated - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I bought a 3500 mAh Battery on ebay for my Defy running on the last nighltly of CM10.
The problem that I don't manage to calibrate it correctly - meaning the battery charge displays drops at same speed than the factory battery till 1% left and from that moment on it stays on 1% for about 1 whole day before it switches off.
I tried several battery calibration tools, but nothing works...any ideas.
Cheers

Battery calibration just ensure that your battery gets charged completely.
Defy is intended to run on a 1500 mAh battery. A higher capacity will act just like yours and there' no way to fix it.

Hmmm shame:/

I was wondering..
Did you buy the

on Amazon? Or at least the same product? (Can't post url cause I am a noob -_-)
Does the new back panel fit properly? Waterproof and all? I assume if it fits for the Defy, it would fit for the Defy+ too?
And I am thinking since most Defy custom ROMs are actually Defy+ custom Roms that come with a battery fix for the Defy (changing from 1850 mAh to 1500 mAh) it should somehow be possible to edit that battery fix and change it to 3500 mAh. I dont know how, though, but maybe if you look around in the battery fix file you'll find some numbers. Or some dev could help you.

Hmm,... there have been some battery fixes for 1500mAh accu on the defy+ kernel.
Maybe there is a possibility to build a battd and battd.so for a larger accu to get them correctly.
Are the battery fix - files just taken from stock MB525 and MB526 or have they been modded?

All the alternate back panels for batteries I found so far are not water proof, so better dont try it out...
Though Id be happy if you correct me there.

Check out battd files in Q&A (Defy battery drops explained is the thread title)
You can change them to match your battery capac.

i buy a similar battery to my milestone 2 the vendor talk to me see these steps to me works fine
when you buy
1 wipe battery stats
2 let full discharge and recharge by all the nigth whitout interruption 5 time for each process (to calibrate battery)
3 on last full diacharge install battery calibration app from market and let full charge all nigth long or 2 or 3 hours after the incator show 100% quicly remove cable and click on battery calib buttom of the app
i dont know if it is really necessary but.... to me works on milestone 1 and milestone 2

Extended battery discharge oddities

Hello,
I have extended battery in my Atrix and I see it going from 100% to 50% in like 4 hours. Then I shutdown Atrix, boot it up and battery shows 88%. What can be causing it? Is it battery or OS?
G
Probably just compatibility issues. I do suggest running a battery calibration app or clearing battery stats in CWM.

Yes, you are right, just installed GB couple of days ago. So I don't need to do anything specific to make it work eventually right? I cleared Battery Stat in CWM.

[Q] Battery Meter on Mango Inaccurate?

So i recently flashed CleanDFT ROM, first couple of days the meter read out 1 day and 18 hours which im very surprised then it went down to 1 day and 4 hours, now this morning i unplugged and it tells me i got 19 hours left from full charge, should i go by this? or is there something wrong?
hello can you help me wid flashing...i came from android...no idea of how to do it...

Redirecting you to the right place.
If you have just flashed a new rom, in general, you need to go through a couple of battery cycles before the battery read can be accurate. I remember when flashing my ATT FUze I had to wait 2-3 complete charging cycles ie. discharging battery to 10% and charging back to full before I could get accurate reading. If you are experiencing worse battery time than before flashing after 2-3 cycles you might need to reflash the rom; you should see better battery time with custom roms, so I have heard.
I also wouldn't go by the battery saver timing, I would go by wpbench or real time use to get an accurate reading on battery time. I have a 1800 mah battery in my focus and it reads 24 hours on battery life
As far as i know, doesnt all the ROMs have basically the same battery life?
Ill be going out of town sometime this week and ill be out most of the day, i need a rom thatll at least last a whole 12 to 14 hours at the most or whole day at best of just occasional twittering and occasional checks on facebook and probably capture some pictures and a video and maybe an hour at most on music? im sure this phone can handle it but idk what you guys suggest
I have the same issue with ATT samsung focus with Roger latest updates, the battery meter is just not accurate, sometimes full and just reboot upon eject from the micro usb. The battery was fine until recently. Found a few other with the same issue online, no solution available yet.
*pulling out battery doesn't work*
The solution is exactly the same as it is on a laptop.
Lithium ion batteries, and, actually, come to think of it, pretty all rechargeable batteries lose capacity over time. The phone, to begin with, doesn't have a good idea of how much capacity is left, and it has to estimate based on previous performance. This is partially a result of battery manufacturers going as cheap as possible with the circuitry in lithium ion batteries.
The phone needs to figure out how old your battery is. This data is definitely lost with a new rom. Leave it to charge overnight, then unplug it and let the battery run all the way to dead. Charge it again, and your battery percentages should be correct. It may take more than one cycle, but the meter should settle into a correct estimate eventually.
Incorrect battery stats are a possible reason for fluctuations in battery life and reseting them as described in the previous post can help.
Another thing which you can do is use an app like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1328730 to check the reported mV rating of your battery at full charge. That can serve as an indicator of the battery life you can expect with your current battery stats.

Need help with analysis of BetterBatteryStats, Resurrection Remix 2.6

Hi,
i have constant awake calls but i cant find the reason. I cleared all apps, the ROM is installed clean with full wipes before. Can anyone see why? Its just about the awake state, not the battery usage while screen is on.
What do you mean? Deep sleep is 84.6%.

Thanks for your reply.
Previously i had Liteningrom.
When I looked at the battery awake status it was clearly sleeping for all the time the screen was off (and the phone not in use by myself),
so the battery lasted for more than a week without apps.
Now its waking up all the time and i don't know why
So you mean these are normal stats and I cant tweak it better?
EDIT: The reason is, I want to travel with the phone instead of a laptop (and charge it by solar as well), thats why I'm trying to get it perfectly battery saving without awake and background interrupts.
you should buy a new battery ( best is the official samsung 2000 mah battery ) so you can last longer or get the 1900 mah anker batteries, they are cheap and fit the case so you can switch batteries when they are empty.
im no expert but i dont really see any bad apps causing wakelocks.

That is the 2000mah already
I will have an external Power bank as well but its useless if the ROM is draining too mutch power while i dont use it.
It was perfectly sleeping with Litening ROM before, but that ROM was a pre release of ICS in the past and is so outdated now.
I was hoping Ressurection Remix 2.6 and Siyah Kernel could bring the same battery saving mood.

[Q] [HELP] Battery issues

Hello! I'm having serious problems with my battery. Since I installed CM10 my battery just goes from 80 to about 60 or 50%, then it drops again from 40 to 20%. Already tried to calibrate with battery calibration app, or this methods, done full wipe (did the process from the beggining, back to Cm7 and no results at all!
Pictures attached.
Please, pleaase help! I'm selling my defy, and do not want to sell it with this issue.
PS: Original battery

All you need to know: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778492
After checking the ownership in root explorer or simular apps, recharge to 100% and let it sit for a couple of hours. Do that again after discharging it.
You will probably be selling a worn battery anyhow, but then maybe with a calibration so the percentages work. This is mostly due to changing with a fast-charger (not the stock one) or charging it not often enough. If you have the habit to let it go to 0%, then it is worn in less then a year to a degree that it last for a couple of hours less then in the beginning.
New battery is the only way, I got an anker one off amazon for £5 and have great battery life on cm10. The
above method or a change of ROM may help but the only real cure for me was a new battery

[Q] Battery remains on 1% for almost one full day

I am creating this thread after exploring the options documented in other similar threads, where I have posted the same issue.
My original battery was weak and I got a new one for my Defy green lens.
I saw that the phone stays at 1% for a long time and then tried several of the tools which remove the battery stats and claim to re-calibrate the battery.
After several such cycles of full 100% charge and discharge till power-off, the phone's standby time has exceeded 2.5 days - out of which it remains at 1% for almost one full day.
Note: I am running Quarx's 4.4.4 nightly.
What are the other things I can try? The phone is used only as standby so I don't mind wiping it off completely and putting stock ROM and observe again.

Dont worry . this happens to me also.. im too bought a battery of 600rs from ebay and battery stays 1 % for a day...
For an investigation i checked the battery voltage (at 100% charge voltage will be 4.2) when it drops to 1%, its nearly 3.9 and phone will keep working till voltage reduces to 3.5... im getting 2 days minimum backup of moderate use...
now to explain why 1% , this is an answer i gt from FB group .. "dnt expect Original battery at 600rs wen its actually cost 1200rs, they are actually replica of real and the so battery circuit send false info to phone, and phone calculates percentage remaining on this "
i tried to switch some cm7 version but in all battery drop at 1% happens.... so i ignored it and my defy still rocks in daily usage after 3 years ...

I find it odd that this is not an original battery.
The battery charge is pretty good - more than 50 hours - no usage of the phone - but poor 2G connection/ weak signal.
I can contact the ebay vendor if that is the case, but I need to be sure first.
I have now put my original battery and I will see if it drains off in the same way or not.

I paid Rs. 600.
I put my original battery (3 year old) and that does not show the 1% issue, though the battery life is less than 2 days on it in standby mode.
