Just verified ICS bootloader unlocker apk for tf300T is working for JB.
Just verify the same result. haha
this is my root procedure:
Just verified ICS bootloader unlocker apk for tf300T is working for JB.
Prepared:
TWRP Recovery | Filename: tf300t-jb.blob
go to asus tf300 download page, download unlooker apk.
1.OTA Upgrade TF300 to Jelly Bean.
2. fastboot flush TWRP, fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery tf300t-jb.blob then fastboot -i 0x0B05 reboot, you will see the device unlock on the left top corner.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you can not flash recovery fail and show:
fail (remote:validstate)), , that mean the bootloader should be locked.
reboot the system and install and run asus tf300 bootloader unlocker...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. reboot system, copy Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip to internal storage.
4. hold power+vol down, 5 second, then press vol up enter TWRP,
5. flush Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip,
6. reboot system and download SuperSU from google player market.
the system should be root.

If you're on JB (OTA), it's a bit easier
Just unlock Bootloader, Flash Kernel via Fastboot and then Flash Firmware via CWM
If you need a fully step-by-step guide, it's here:

This thread needs to be stickied. I just purchased this tf300 and flashed to jelly bean right out of the box. It took me forever to find instructions to root it after doing so. Searches always turn up people wanting to flash jb after already being rooted.

[ROOT][GUIDE]Install Recovery and Root from V10.4.2.13 US or coming from ICS[GUIDE]

Dear Asus Transformer TF300T users,
If you are on ICS and coming to Jellybean or already running the Official V10.4.2.13 from ASUS
Asus released the Jellybean update in the United States. Here is a guide which will let you:
- Prepare your tablet for the Jellybean update
- Update your tablet to Jellybean software
- Install recovery and give you root access
- [Optional] Remove bloatware from your tablet
- [Optional] Speed up your tablet using tweaks
Ensure that you Bootloader is already unlocked before you start
== Part 1 - Prepare the tablet ==
First we need to install the V10.4.2.13 US update to be able to upgrade to the Jellybean software, then we will do the actual upgrade to Jellybean.
1) Download the US V10.4.2.13 update: Asus support site
2) Put the file on your tablets internal storage - You put the extracted file you just downloaded from ASUS, so when download completes, extract V10.4.2.13 and place on Internal Storage
3) Got to recovery and make a backup
4) In recovery do to a factory reset and wipe dalvik cache
- TWRP recovery: Wipe => Dalvik Cache and Wipe => Factory reset
- CWM recovery: Factory reset and Advanced => Wipe Dalvik Cache
5) Flash the US_epad-user-10.4.2.13.zip file
Don't install a custom recovery after doing this step. The Jellybean update will only be automatically launched with stock recovery
6) Reboot into your tablet and enable "USB-debugging" and "Unknown Sources" in settings
7) Connect your tablet to your pc
== Part 2 - Install recovery and rooting ==
Let's start with installing the recovery
1) Download these 2 files:
- Jellybean recovery with fastboot files: Fastboot files + JB recovery
- Root files: Root Files
- You can also download the new CWM Touch recovery if you don't like TWRP: CWM Touch recovery thread
2) Extract the recovery with fastboot files zip and open a command prompt in the same folder of the adb and fastboot files (Shift + Right mouse)
3) Reboot into the bootloader of your tablet, type: adb reboot bootloader
4) When your tablet has reached the bootloader navigate with volume down to the usb icon and press volume up to confirm.
5) To flash the recovery type:
- TWRP: fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery tf300t-jb.blob
- CWM: fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery CWM-Touch.blob
6) A blue bar will appear and the recovery will be installed, when the blue bar is filled press volume up + power button to reboot into the tablet.
Now we will root the tablet
7) Copy Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed to the internal storage of your tablet. then reboot into the bootloader again.
8) This time you need to select the RCK icon with volume up to enter the recovery image.
9) In recovery flash Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed and reboot into the system
10) Install Supersu from Google Play
11) Open up Supersu, it will ask you to update the binary, choose yes.
12) Now your tablet should be rooted
You can now install a Custom JellyBean ROM

I just went through some pain staking hours of difficulty but once I got some help and a starting point it was easy after this, make sure you have adb and fastboot working on your computer already. You will need this to flash recovery. Hope this simplifies the process for you all

The new members actually had this for a while. . Hopefully more will spot it here and use it. I agree completely on cwm vs twrp. Cwm gave me several issues after flashing and would not properly detect internal storage.

It may work, I do not see why it wouldn't. You are pushing SU from Recovery so if recovery says its successful during the flash, then you should have SU. Once you boot check for SU and open the app so it can update binaries, once that does test apps that rquire root and if SU grants privelages than your good. If it doesn't grant the app priveledges, do a reboot and try again after the table boots up
Sorry to sound daft, but can I use this on a stock version 4.1? I bought my tf300 off ebay & it was already updated.

Yes I did this from a stock 4.1 Asus update. You must unlock your bootloader first, there is an Asus bootloader unlocker In the app store than just follow the guide once you have the bootloader unlocked. When you reboot your tablet it will say unlocked in the top left. Asus gives you the disclaimer that you void the warranty. It's pretty easy if you have trouble just hit me up

If you have the factory image, from Google (and nowhere else), just run the flash-all.bat file. You "may" have to unlock your bootloader prior to running it if you haven't already, and you'll need to have the device in fastboot mode prior to running the batch file too, but once those 2 simple tasks are done, the batch file takes care of the rest.
If your using a toolkit or some other method for flashing a factory image, I suggest stopping, and just doing the above.
This forum is not for any threads for questions... this needs to go to General or Q/A... just download the factory image from Google, reboot into fastboot and run the flash-all script... you don't need to be unlocked...

same question
I've unlocked & rooted & the OTA fails trying to flash the recovery (trying to flash from twrp, duh, can't overwrite).
How should I go about updating the system w/o wiping out everything I already have?
If I fastboot flash_image system will it only overwrite changes to my system partition & leave my data & apps alone?
I've got OTA Root Keeper installed, so I'm hopeful even if I lose root I can get it back easy enough (either way, no biggie; can always reroot, ain't no thang).
tia for any advice.

[Q] How to Downgrade to 4.1.1 or Original for TF300T???

Hey guys!
I am trying to downgrade my current Stock 4.2.1 Rom to either 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 either stock or custom if possible even factory original.
How would I go about doing this as there is no clear cut instructions I could find....not sure if I can use NVFlash???
I previously had root performed using the VoodooOTA Method. Now I have unlocked the bootloader and also managed to install the TWRP Custom Recovery....although I do not think it has been installed correctly as it is unable to mount certain directories...../cache or /data and /system are some examples.....not sure if that is because of version or because of changes done to root enabler by new firmware upgrade.
If anyone has clear instructions or could point me in the right direction I would highly appreciate it!
Thanks
There might be a few issues with the new OTA update and recovery, if you already have a backup with nvflash from when you had ICS then yes there is a guide you can use to go back,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1894867
if not then you should either try to flash one of the stock ROMs mentioned in the sticky in the Android Development section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697227
or if you think twrp is not working well you should wait just in case you do damage to your device. There is a chance some partitions have been altered in the new update and twrp needs to be updated, by whoever is responsible for our version, to be able to function properly.
If the reason you want to go back is the launcher then there is an option to switch to the 4.1 launcher in the options, not sure where exactly but if you look a bit further down in this section you'll find someone else posting something about it.
And a last suggestion is that when you have a question better post it in the appropriate section

I am pretty sure he said that he is unlocked and running twrp, you can flash whatever rom you want from recovery but it will not bring back the ICS bootloader and the ability to have NVFLASH or even the 4.1 BL, so in reality he flashed a new rom and not actually downgrade to the previous state of the tablet.

That is actually correct, I dont know if itwill work in general but I previously had my OS rooted and backed up using Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper. The only thing that I did new from here on is
1. Backup an Nandroid using ADB Terminal Access -
Code:
adb backup –apk –shared –all –f C:\Android_Asus_4-2-1.ab
Ofcourse in-order to perform this feat you would need Android SDK Tools Package and Google USB Drivers installed on the drive
2. Perform the unlock bootloader using the apk found on the Asus Website
3. Flash Stock Rom that can be downloaded from Asus or here
using fastboot
4. Flash TWRP for JB using fast boot with help of link
5. Go into recovery Wipe Dalvik and Cache and Factory Restore
6. And boot!
Okay I know this is no GUIDE as I am press with time....I will try to make a proper one. but in all honesty I would just wait for the REAL DEV's to post the solution to 4.2.1

Hi,
I need to downgrade my tab as my touch doesn't work and need to flash other firmware it. It was told to me to downgrade and it should work, but was said I need TWRP because with CWM I could brick my tab. Without touch it's impossible to use TWRP. I have ulocked bootloader and rooted. Your guide doesn't seem to need of use exactly TWRP as Wipe Dalvik and Cache is worked when I rooted tab.

Is it possible to have root without installing a custom recovery?

Hey everyone.
I want to root 4.3 but I dont want to install CWM or TWR or another custom recovery. I want to keep stock recovery so I can directly update from Google when 4.4 is released.
Is there any way I can root without having a custom recovery?
Thanks for the help.

Yes, you can root without flashing a custom recovery. The first step is to obtain root access. The next step of installing a custom recovery (i.e. CWM or TWRP) is to flash ROMs and Kernels. You can just stop at ROOT.
FYI - There are stock and very close to stock ROMs available. Once Android 4.4 is released by Goggle, it does not take long (1-2 days) before people have the 4.4 available for flashing especially for the stock or close to stock ROMs. The more customized ROMs may take a little longer to have Android 4.4 ported into their ROMs.

The command posted "fastboot boot boot.img" would boot your device once into a custom recovery without actually installing the recovery. From there, you can use the one-time booted recovery to install a root zip.
Yes.
I'm unlocked and rooted on the latest 4.3. N10 is so fast I don't feel the need for a custom rom at this present time.

First you need to download the latest supersu. Then you need to download a custom recovery from here: http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.5-manta.img
Place it on your C: drive.
Then go to fastboot and type:
Fastboot boot recovery C:/recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.5-manta.img
Then select recovery with the volume buttons and press the power button.
In recovery flash the latest supersu you downloaded.
! Wipe cache and dalvik cache !
Reboot.
You're now rooted and still have the stock recovery.

Thanks a lot!
One last doubt. When you say place the recovery img in C: you mean on my PC or on the Nexus 10?
Thanks again.
EDIT: I tried following your instructions but didnt manage to boot into the custom recovery. Maybe Im missing some step in cmd.

Open your cmd, copy the recovery to your fastboot folder then cd to it. After that type:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery name here).img
"This Story Ends Where It Began" - Octavarium (Dream Theater)

Doesn't that require you to unlock your bootloader first? (and therefore wipe everything from the N10)
I originally rooted my N10 (running 4.2.2) using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2003938 without unlocking the bootloader first...
No idea if it works on 4.3 or not, though...

I'm not sure if it requires unlocked BL. You can try, if it doesn't work, then you shall backup and unlock. But I believe it will work .

Will any of these methods work for the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, or are there any other ways? I want to gain root and upgrade when updates come out as well, but we have no custom recovery yet for the Tab 4. I wonder if I could fast boot with the custom recovery for Tab 3 if it will work?

How can i install twrp in my micromax canvas evok. In the official twrp site my mobile is not in the list. So what can i do? Please tell me.

ROOT // I want to make sure

I read a few arcticles, but still I´m not sure
I want Unlock my Bootloader and get to my zenfone 2 TWRP (is that mean Flash it? ) and then Root? (SUPERsu)
But I´m not sure what donwload for my version, and which ADB, etc, can anybody tell me more?
MY ZENFONE2 is
Zenfone 2 ZE551ML 16gb // 4 gb
Z00AD
last official update is .....Z00A-2.20.40.183
core version 3.10,20-x86-64 moor
Unlock bootloader officially or unofficially. White ASUS Splashcreen will appear if unlocked successfully. Then go to bootloader then flash your twrp and now you can install customs ROM.
You can still root your device without unlocking bootloader or flashing twrp. Just download a pre-rooted firmware then flash using commands.

Can this be done within the stock recovery of the phone, or are you talking about something else?

You dont need to be in the recovery to this, you just need to be in bootloader mode, connect your device to you computer then fastboot flash the parts of the pre-rooted firmware using fastboot commands.

Thanks, but I went with the one-click root and just unlocked the bootloader. I installed the Xperia rom and it's working really good. I've just waited to root this bish because I had to send it back to asus two times for repair " what a pain in the ****ing ass too "
