File Transfer Problem. - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a fastest way to transfer file from PC to USB? I'm transferring Street Fighter IV data but it takes as hell in USB MTP and in Airdroid the web browser hangs "google chrome hangs on transferring" Is there a better way to transfer this 1GB files Thanks

Copying files over Wifi should be faster, and you can use your tablet normally while it happens in the background.
If you're using Windows, put the file in a shared folder and you'll be able to see it through the ES File Explorer app under the LAN section.

That ES File Explorer method should work on me. Thanks to that. That might help me my file transfer

Its amazing that something transfers faster over wifi than directly connected.

Yes, via Bluetooth or dropbox "wifi"

via FTP
I also use a free file manager from the marketplace called File Manager HD. It allows me to map a drive to my Windows machine wirelessly. From there I just copy the files I need.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
ES manager is the best. You can also copy files to the microsd.
Wifi file Explorer works.
Android to pc on free app and pc to Android on paid
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
I use WebSharing File/Media Sync by NextApp. It creates a web server on your phone. Connect you PC to your phone via wifi and you use your PC browser to view, upload and download files from TF
The Lite version is free and has no ads. The full version cost $3.00, but it is worth paying as I use it a lot to transfer movies and music
As a full function , but more expensive solution, I use a Tonido Plug ( Small server module at $99.00) connected to a 1TB drive. It is on 247 and I can access via wireless at home or anywhere in the world via internet to up/download files or stream photos or music. Do not have to leave PC on.

+1 for the File Manager HD
It is free, nice graphics and UI. Mapped my networked storage, and gives me instant access to all files on it wirelessly.
rio
Another +1 for File Manager HD, looks great and allows wireless transfers. I tried that ES File Manager and lol it looks horrible, I don't see how anybody could like it or even stand to use it.

PC to Tablet Wifi Transfer?

Any FTP app that I have tried on my 10.1 seems to require me to browse my tablet's files FROM my pc and then upload a file on my pc TO the tablet.
I would like Tab to be able to connect to my LAN, and then be able to view my PC's folders FROM my tablet.
Scenario:
1. Using my tablet in bed and want a video or other file on my PC.
2. Way to tired to go downstairs with the tablet, usb link it to the PC, wait for file to transfer, go backupstairs.
3. Would much prefer to keep my lazy butt in bed, and just ftp browse my PC folders (always on) from my Tab
4. Would love it to download in the background, while I do something else on the the tablet in the meantime.
I dont wish to use dropbox or sugarsync to transfer files wirelessly.
I do that already. If the file I want is not in my dropbox then I have to go to the pc anyway. Also, its double the time with a PC upload first, then a tablet download.
I am using Win 7 64x and it would be great to have the Tab as part of my Homegroup.

I have shared all my drives in my PC and use ES file explorer to browse them from my tablet
I use es file explorer all the time . It can access my shared folders of my computer network or download through ftp!
Try the following
Gmote app - lets you stream videos from pc and much more. However you have to run the corresponding software on your pc.
Software cable - this is probably not what you want but it is worth trying due to its simplicity
Cheers
I use es file explorer as well and it works great, my only issue is that large files ie. movies will say they have copied successfully from PC to tablet but when I look for them they are not on the tablet anywhere???
Has anyone else experienced this?
I did transfer once but via cable, and yes, the file disappears. not sure what happened. File Explorer is surely one of the more interesting options out there that supports ftp and http file transfer, but i have yet to do any large file transfers yet.

Explorer crashes when transfering 1gb+ to SD

"Windows explorer has stopped working" it says whenever i try to transfer a large video file from my PC to my SG4 via USB. Tried
- two cables
- two different USB ports
- different files all sizes 1.3-1.8 gb
- card in adapter directly. It works with the adapter. So how do I make it work with the cable? I've transfered plenty of small video files ~100mb without any problems.
Thoughts?
Hmm the fourth thread I read about this says
This is happening to me too, whatever size the mkv file is. What i do is, rename the mkv extension to mo or any ma, then copy paste to sd card, rename it in root explorer back to mkv.

Is this really the only way!? What a hassle!

file manager for wp10

hi, I'm coming from android and got an issue with the default file manager for wm10. I'm searching for a file manager wich can be quick, easy to use and can create/extract zip files (or better zip and rar). I don't care if is it free or i have to pay but i want a functional app.
for example i loved android's es file explorer and solid explorer. is there something like it for wp10? i don't want an app full of ads if possibile
There's nothing nearly on the same level as Solid Explorer or ES File Explorer.
What's best on W10M really depends on what you need though. Yuki Explorer is a decent one though, and it has a free, full-featured version with no ads. It also has the benefit of SMB share support, and working with Continuum.
I'm looking for a decent file manager wich can manages zips and rars, no matter if is free or not, just i hate ads for now thanks for your suggestion, i'll try it
perhaps you should try total commander.
Metro file manager seems to be the best one I've come across so far. It can handle zips and synchronize with the cloud based file storage like Google Drive, One Drive, etc., hide files, and some more that I'm still not aware of maybe. It can handle ftp transfers like in ES and Solid after you pay for the complete package ($2 or $3, I think), which also takes away the ads. And I just found out that it has tabbed viewing
good advice! that's what i was searching for, even if was a really hard decision with yuki file explorer. Anyway due to interface language i preferred metro. Thanks
Metro File Manager eX is superb for me. With FTP sharing feature I'm rarely plug my phone to computer. Also, it supports samba network drives and have build in picture viewer, video/audio players.
Total Commander, Aerize Explorer (Pro), Pocket File Manager...
I use Total Commander and Metro File Manger. Both apps can read files from Samba shares.
But how can I play MKV/x264 from share? AVI files are working with WM10 standard video Player over Network, MKV not.
Q1: Does anyone have a MKV player which can read from SMB share?
Q2: How can I change default program / file association to open MKV in TC with VLC or Smart Player?
not sure for SMB share, but try CCPlayer for MKV files.
Metro File Manager is one of the (many) things I find superior on WP.
- Access to cloud services
-Great interface
I don't know how (and don't need at this point) to root WP10, but root access is one big drawback compared to Android file managers.

Default Save Location of Game Recordings?

I have AnExplorer and I can find them with the Videos option in the menu, but I'd like to know the actual save location. I can't seem to find it, and I haven't found any answers by Googling. I'd like to be able to access the videos from my computer to transfer over to my laptop.
I appeared to have found it:
Code:
/storage/emulated/11/Movies/Game Recordings
Now the problem is that I can't access it it. Neither from my laptop, nor from the Shield. From my laptop, I access it via the Network, and my only option is "Internal" which brings me to the internal part, and not the "Phone" part that the file explorers label it (I guess the root filesystem? I don't know...).
And on the Shield, I have tried AnExplorer and ES File Explorer, and ES file explorer shows a blank folder after I get to "emulator". For AnExplorer, after "emulator" it says "Failed to query documents."
The only work around I have found is using ES File Explorer, adding my Google Drive account, and cutting and pasting the video that way (I use the Movies file link). I have Google Drive hooked up to my laptop, so it automatically downloads it to my laptop's hard drive.
