if no led how you know you got notifications?
too hard for an answer?
Seriously?
are you serious?
with sound? by looking at your display?
why should I look at my display? To look every 10 minutes if I got an email....?
Sound yes, visual?
Its it possible to have a small notification on the screen?
Its on your status bar.........

Is this your first tablet? Most of them do not have led's. some phones don't even have them. Skyrocket in particular. There is an app you can download that will give you this function, but i forgot the name of it. Maybe you should return it and get a fruit product.

There are apps that will flash your screen for various notifications. Try Missed Message Flasher.
Tablets are not designed to be your main interaction tool for notifications, that is your mobile phone. The tablet is really only there to do things when your actually using it
You could try the app NoLED https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.led.notify
It flashes up dots or custom icons on the screen when you get various types of notifications. It will also suck your battery a bit though.

It was meant if you want something simple and designed for a child, apple should be your choice. I'm tired of people complaining about the tiniest of details. Yes this tablet is small, but I'm not carrying it around as a phone. If i see my phones led light up and my tablet is closer I'll pick it up and check. I'm an avid Android fan, and apple irritates me. People have to realize this is a tablet, and not a phone. You can get it to act that way, but tweaking is involved. Android is for adults, and people with individuality. Apple is for confused close minded people. Sorry if my comment bothered you. I probably should have explained myself better lol

It would be cool if there is an app that would take a picture from the front facing when the phone is unlocked. so you would know if someone was screwing with your phone..

Would be cool indeed, if someone took your phone and u found it, bam evidence of who took it.
It would really be cool if you could have it upload the pics to your Dropbox account (or other site of your choice). Could help find who stole the phone much quicker.

i think the tone of his reply was in response to your own smart-ass "magical" camera app comment, so maybe look in the mirror before posting yet another rude comment, eh?
That was because of me not reading it properly, if he had handled it right there would not have been any reason for his tone, if he had said maybe you should read the over instead of being a smartass, I would have handled it better, I admit after seeing the full post yes I came off like a smartass but only because I didn't read the full post. So I assume this has something to do with P3Droids comments on Verizon "tracking" rooted phones right? (dude deleted the original post)
If your going to read into things like these, you have to keep up with them. If this guy would have, he would have known that Verizon currently can't actually see that your phone is rooted.
They HAVE implemented a way to see if your tethering in the new GB release. I think this is 100% acceptable for them to do. Period.
As for getting an iPhone. I'm not going to sit here and bash the phone. I may not like it as much as I do an Android phone, but everyone must admit the iPhone has some pros, like battery life. Everyone I know who has one has amazing battery life. This goes for Apple computers as well. Apple has it right with batteries.
Anywho, just thought I'd put my two cents in.

I'd just like to point something out:
When referring to my or any other Android-powered smartphone, do not call it "an Android". That is incorrect; Android is the operating system, not the entire device. I don't run around calling your iPhone an iOS. Go with "Android phone" or "Android device" or something similar.
Secondly, despite Samsung's commercials, calling a device by it's manufacturing name is wrong too. You can argue that all you want: but referring to your Blackberry as a RIM, your iPhone as an Apple, or your Pre Plus as an HP sounds absurd. Android and WP7 devices are created by different manufacturers. So it's even more wrong to do so. It sounds wrong, and it is wrong.

I'm fine with that, unless I need to know the exact type, which is rare, Droid works for me, as I am smart enough to understand that when I hear Droid, it just means a person has a phone that runs the Android OS.

Pretty much this. Who cares what the proper nomenclature is. Calling an Android device an "Android" or a "Droid" isn't any different than calling any brand of facial tissue "Kleenex" or (for you old timers out there like me) any portable cassette player a "Walkman".

I believe the common term for this literary phenomena is "proprietary eponym". 'Kleenex' for facial tissue; 'Xerox machine' for a photocopier, etc etc. Our mod and I live in Central Florida where people drink "Cokes" when they are holding a can of 7-Up...
"Droid" has come on board as any mobile smartphone device NOT manufactured by Apple or RIM.

You have to sign up for EVERYTHING nowadays, so how does one omit themselves from the data collection? Get off everything and live off the grid. I'd rather mull around and see what trouble I can cause, and devices I can root. I'm getting the N7 too...but my KF still has years of use in my household. Just wondering what best to describe this to them. Perhaps drawing some parallels? I don't know. They just give me this funny look.
Easy. Explain that android is an operating system just like iOS and you are simply installing different versions of the android operating system.
Sent from my Nexus S
You can also say that Android is an open source operating system, and everyone can easily modify and tweak it, and as an user you have the ability to choose what you prefer and install it with few easy steps.
Yup
Android is Open source so building/flashing roms lets you have it your way
For the users preferences
Apple doesnt let you build off their sources. You gotta have it their way for the iphone user.
..oh wait you Can change your wallpaper with the iphone
Also you can "jailbreak" the iphone

All you would need is to draw a pic of a apple in jail and have a Android eating a apple on the outside of it :good:
You can just show them hour CWM app.. and say "oh you don't have an app for that ?" Then watch them go crazy looking through their app store for an app that does the same thing but better..
Don't waste ur time on idiots, but if u meet someone sincerely interested, then explain them using ur nexus (missed notification light, volume rocker wake etc) none of it couldn't be possible for our nexus without custom roms...
I'll just advice you to stay away on that topic. Its not Idiotic if someone loves one brand and others don't, so stay away on those post, its impolite. Also I've read other post explaining ticky tacky stuffs, what they told are just mere features not the whole meaning on to it. The correct explanation maybe is the ones who told you about installing Windows XP, 7 or 8 those are the closer ones, its like Eclair, GB, ICS and JB (not comparing them huh, just the closest thing there is).
If they are that interested maybe to purchase one Android Phone why not help them go through this changes but if the conversation go to flaming that is the sign for you to exit because no one wins anyway.
Personally I hate when they call my Nexus S an iPhone. I just kept telling what brand and model it really is, if they ask why not iPhone I just tell that its not really my style and 95% of the time they all nod no questions asked. I look at my phone anyway and it really looked like iPhone without the circle button. Anyway I got a White Nexus S with White Mercury Jelly Case, now you imagine that.
i had to explain that to a friend who uses an iphone.
i told him how great that is and that there are so many cool roms availabe. two weeks later he bought an htc hd2 and is happy

I'm an iPhone user, so maybe I can help.
Just say, like was stated before, are you familiar with different Linux distributions? If yes: yeah its just like that but for your phone. If no: well that's usually where it starts, I could explain but I don't think you'll understand. That's it, you won't gain anything by explaining it to them. They'll just think your in love with a PHONE.

It was haha, but if you knew some of the people around me, you probably would be waisting your time explaining. I try to find an easy understandable way, but no luck. It would also be great If I knew anything past flashing roms and kernels, there's not much I can do either
