Hi,
I have replaced the battery of my MB525. Now, I have an issue with the way it charges and discharges.
The battery percentage decreases/increases proportionnally faster than voltage, so when it decreases and reaches 1%, the phone can run again for hours ! Then, when it finally automatically shuts down, I perform a full charge and when it reaches 100%, the voltage is not to maximum value, I have to keep on charging for a while to reach around 4.164 mV.
My Defy is on CM10 (20120817 Quarx build)
The New battery is an original one (BF5X 1500 mAh)
Done things with the new battery :
- one full charge/dischage cycle --> issue is still there
- cache and dalvik wipe, reboot --> issue is still there
- cache and dalvik wipe, flash again my ROM, reboot --> issue is still there
- Full wipe, flash again my ROM + gapps, reboot, apps reinstallation with Titanium Backup --> issue is still there
UPDATE: - played with Battd files
Do I have to wait some full charge cycles to fix this or is it a hardware issue ?
UPDATE: Currently on my phone bootmenu, it displays 54% remaining when in Android it's 1% !
Another minor issue : the battery temperature sits to 25 degrees (sometimes 26 or 27) even if the phone is hot like hell....
Thanks for your help.
I am having the same issue and I think the problem is that the battery is not genuine.
Externally the battery looks genuine, just like the one that came with the phone, and it lasts what it should (day and a half) but the battery controller must be different from the original and that causes these problems.
My workaround has been to disable the battery icon and use battery monitor widget to display mV. Knowing that 4.1v is fully charged and the phone will shutdown at 3.3 - 3.5v I can live with my fake battery.

Seems the trouble is with the daemon not reading correct values..
Please navigate to /data/battd/cc_data and post the file properties..

Thanks a lot for your answer. It's very useful !
I'm trying "battery monitor widget" to see if it fits me... Do you know other apps with mV and % conversion support ? And is it possible to disable pulsing red led when low battery threashold is reached for our Defy running on CM10 ?
Otherwise, I'll try to purshase a guenine one... Do you know a website where I can find a guenine BF5X battery ?

Thanks a lot, I was afraid of this....No thanks to Amazon :crying:
If I finally purchase a new one, I have to be sure it's a guenine one. On Motorola website, the BF5X is not on sale. How could I be sure when I'll search ?

OK thanks.
I've just purchased a REAL (I hope...) new BF5X battery on the Motorola Store. Indeed, I don't want to play with mV to know autonomy (inaccurate stuff) and to constantly have pulsing red led after only few hours and ... for hours !
Thanks to everyone.
Finally, I received my new real BF5X and everything is now OK !
- Autonomy is OK
- NO MORE PERCENTAGE DROP
EDIT: - No more 1% left for hours (voltage and percentage are synchronized)
- Temperature sensor is working
It's really really a REAL BF5X
So one advice, if you want to replace yours, don't purchase it on Amazon... Go to Motorola store.
Big thanks to all !

So, me and my wife both started seeing this issue pop up. My wife first told me her battery went from full to almost empty within in few hours, but I think it was never fully charged to begin with.

Mine is showing the same. Even if it's at 50% the battery icon will still be at 3/4 full. Oh well. Must be an issue with this version of Froyo.
jv
after flashing a rom(any rom), it is recommended that you recondition the battery. you can find instructions on how to do this in this board or the vibrant boards.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=939425
this will make the phone relearn the battery and read it properly(unless of course there is a problem with the rom reading battery life)
I just ran some high CPU apps to drop it below 60% and the bar dropped some. I dunno, I would think the bar is reporting a bit to generous for being at 59%!
From what I've heard, the stock battery icon goes by 20% increments.
100-80, 79-60, 59-40 ...etc
Since your phone is at 61%, it seems to be displaying it properly on the notification bar.
I cleared the battery stats in CWR already, but the value in settings seems more accurate since I've been plugged for 14 hours.
Reconditioning the battery wouldn't only effect the GUI bar. Maybe it is only a thing with Froyo or maybe its a TBD fix for DL30 before it gets an offical release.
It looks the same way in DL09 I bet... And this is development related how?

Could be... but I'd think it would be more 100(full), 99-80, 79-60, 59-40, etc.

The stock battery icon is horribly inaccurate. I think there's only 4 or 5 different icons to display the whole battery range. That said, there can be a mismatch after flashing any new rom. To reset everything, charge your battery until it's totally full (check it in settings). After that says 100%, shutdown the phone and leave it on the charger until you get the full battery message on the screen (the screen will light up and display a battery with 100%)
Once you're totally at 100%, boot into clockwork and wipe battery stats. Reboot your phone, take it off the charger and let it discharge totally - to about 5 or 10%. Some people say you should discharge it fast, I'm not so sure. I just let it discharge normally. Once it's gone through the whole range, it'll be synced up and the numbers should match from then on. Worked for me.
And if you're interested, I modified the DL30 framework with a new battery icon and 1% increments. You can download the Clockwork flashable zip here, the modified version and the stock version if you wanted to revert:
DL30_BatteryPercent.zip
DL30_StockFramework.zip
And this is what it looks like. Stock aside from the battery.

Which CWM recovery actually wipes the battery stats? I tried it with the new red voodoo-looking CWM and that didn't seem to work for me either. I hit wipe battery stats and it just takes me right back to the menu without actually saying it wiped anything.

Same for me. Maps app takes all the battery.
Maybe you guys try disabling the Location services (a checkbox enables by default during setup after FW upgrade), and that couses drain? No idea how to disable it, though
thats easy mate
go to google in your stock browser and below the search box u'll see an option as to whether u want share your location. u can disable there!!
do you use Latitude?
Do you have any idea about "Android OS" usage because it looks too much?

You should not have Google maps taking any power if you're not using it. I do not see in my list if I have not open it since unplugged.
Battery level can behave in a strange way for a few days. Mine dropped to 70% after being plugged and charged to 100%.
Next day it dropped from 100% to 90% and the began climbing to 94% for 30 minutes.
Usually main battery hog is the screen, you should not have those drainage with the screen off.

Exactly. The screen was off. I flashed rom, restarted, charged to full battery, slept, woke up, checked my phone and this is what i got. U can see display has consumed hardly any battery. (no wonder it was off all the time)

This is also a question? Why is that so high too?? Even if maps would not have consumed any battery, gingerbread alone would have emptied it in under 24 hrs with no use at all. (display off)

I got a similar problem with Android OS eating all my battery.
It was only after I plugged my phone off and pressed the power button so that the display turns off. From that point on Android OS consumed battery.

This might be the problem, I have seen that sometimes the system will not go to standby state although the displey is off and the reason was Latitude (this might also explain high usage by system and maps).
Too bad that Spare parts are not working on Gingerbread, there you could see what app is causing the system not to go to sleep.
So I think that some app is causing the system to be awake, and my gues is Latitude.
To be honest, since I don't use "maps" or "latitude", I only have Android OS eating up my battery. Bloody 75% in the span of 7 hours with a hint of WIFI and texting.
Going to try the "wipe Divik Cache" idea posted by h4m74o.
Just an update, I believe the dalvik cache idea is working. Screenshot shows my last hour of usage stabilizes instead of the decline I was experiencing. I will post back tomorrow for a reconfirmation.
I had the same problem with maps on CM7, never found out what caused it so i just uninstalled it
Battery is pretty good acutally, but i also have the strange Google Maps drainage (31% of consumption: 5.5hours stay awake and 50min CPU). I did just receive an update for Google Maps; Hopefully this fixed something, but that would be just luck .
But how do I wipe the Dalvik cache? And why would thit help?
Btw currently @27% and just under 40 hours. (1d15h)
I tried a few things.
1. Uninstalled the update to google maps.
2. FC google maps.
9% battery drain in over 11 hrs. i.e les than 1% per hour. But this is with no use at all.
The problem is, WHY is Maps still the major consumer of battery???
Can't I remove maps completely?
If you use modified kernel, try to flash JVK stock kernel, fully charge and see if any improvement. This gave back to me normal battery life.
Hey guys. I just got a Nexus 7 recently (sold used, but "like new", description said it was used briefly for a day and then packed back in the box again). It was working really well until I flashed this kernel. I had CM10.1 on it for a while and flashed that kernel so I could use CIFS.
After I tried this, I saw the the battery had gone from around 75% to 55% one night (over 8 hours). This is much worse than it was before, where it would only drain around 3%, or at most 5%.
I understand that my issue is probably simple: Just flash a different/old kernel or a new ROM and see if it helps. But I was wondering if there's a way to see specifically what is draining the battery. I tried getting Battery Analyzer, but says that "android keyboard" uses the most CPU, and the actual battery settings says, other than the screen, that "Media Server" is using 8% of the battery, as well as System Idle or something.
I don't know what this means exactly. But I do want to know a couple of things:
1. How can I know for sure what is causing the battery drain. Is there any way to figure it out?
2. How can I troubleshoot this, that is, I want to try disabling features and seeing how much the battery drains after that.
In the mean time, I'm gonna flash a different ROM and I'm sure that'll fix it for now. But I'll have a NAND backup just in case.

Install. Follow directions. Post log as an attachment into their thread asking for help.
High loss while idle implies wakelocks and possibly CPU activity.
I actually found this before and tried it. It showed something with Google+ being highest with partial wakelocks, though I didn't fully understand it. I ended up removing the G+ widget from my home screen on a whim and it seemed to help a lot, only reduced 3% over 8 hours. I'd like to improve even that if possible, but that's how it was when I got it, so I'm really pleased with that. And hopefully it's not a fluke, I'll have to see what happens another night.
Thanks anyway. I'll monitor it more and see if there's anything else I can do.
I use System Tuner to set the off-screen CPU max to 384, seems to help a lot.

May have well just have told him to only touch his tablet on even numbered dates and to only charge it face down on an espresso colored end table. They have the same effect on battery charge and indication that wiping battery stats does. The myth of wiping battery stats was clearly and concisely given an official debunking about a year and a half ago. If anything, wiping battery stats will hinder the OP, not help.

I use Battery Monitor Widget and see that, my batter capacity has been tripped from 3200 mAh to 2100mAh. I have tried reset to factory but nothing change. Plz help me.

hi ,
two points ( it might help )
first in battery monitor did you manually tried to change it to 3200 mah ( see screenshot )
and i would suggest to id whats draining your battery
install "Wakelock detector" app it does work on kitkat 4.4.2 , with help of a " adb small hack "( very easy to do ,and no root needed )
( see link and post #338 by the developer.... ahikmat , for small tutorial to get Wakelock working on kitkat )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2179651&page=34
At least you could see what is causing wakelocks and draining battery ??
i have n9005 note 3 lte and running kitkat 4.4.2 stock
No root ,Poland vers Xeo .( for nearly2/ 3 weeks now ? )
battery is very similar to 4.3 which was very good !
Thanks you, I ll try Wakelock.
About Battery Monitor Widget, if I set capacity to 3200mAh, then it just ll overide the true value, show a fake capacity. Do I need to run calibration in Battery Monitor Widget (It seems kinda hard to understand, require power cycle at least 40%, sth like that), will it help?
I dont wanna root. If there is a way to go back 4.3 rom, I woulde like to do it.

hi ,
first, no on my other devices i had in the past ,htc one x ,if the mah was wrong i just manualy edited/override it(.eg.type 3200), in battery monitor setting /calibration/battery capacity (mah ) and it was updated ,so try ..no root needed for this .
i also see from your screenshot ..top right corner your estimated battery drainage is 2.29 % per hour ??(plse check why ?)
a small tip/advice ..
Don't be in such a hurry to revert/go back to 4.3 if you have a problem !
You are on Xda ,so i'm sure with advice from other forum members you can solve most issues !
Personally i really ,favour kitkat 4.4.2
My reasons ......
just the improved/increase in bluetooth stability ,already made it worth while !
i found that my bluetooth plantronic headset ,was not losing connection (from time to time) anymore,
my Note3 pairs with my Polar h7 hart/rate monitor..where on 4.3 it did not even pick it up !
my Gear watch has not lost connections as it had previously on 4.3
good luck
post note
the way i see it your device true value is 3200 ?
(How battery monitor gets 2100 ??? as stated above with htc one x, it show also wrong mah, but i manual changed it ,had no problems afterward, regarding this mah isssue)
I see, I was too panic about the mAh thing. I have decided to remove Batterry Monitor Widget and forget about it. I ll continue to use as normal, hopefully after some cycle charging, the battery ll back to normal.
By now, I ll use it, turn on power saving, and wait for the next update. I hope the next update that ll fix the 3rd party accessories ll solve my problem too.
P/s: I still regret about taking SM-N900. If I had chance to choose again, I would take a N9005 for better performance.
Battery Monitor Widget can dramatically increase the life, In my case too it was reporting 1000mAh (I think its a bug in kernel on 4.4.2). Actually kernel doesn't know the battery capacity but somehow assumes it.
1. Any way change it manually to 3200 in BMW
2. Then charge battery to 100% once it shows 100% keep it on charge for another 30 mins for trickle charge.
3. then delete all battery history/statistics/ estimations from within BMW
4. use as normal but ensure that you let the battery die completely to 0% (phone should refuse to boot up on battery) before you plugin for next charge. (don't charge in between at all) the idea is to tell BMW the max & the min current which the battery can handle based on that BMW calculates the battery %
5. at least do this 100-0 then 0-100 cycles 3-4 times BMW will have enough data history to calibrate your battery.
I am now getting 31hrs backup on 100% charge This bug of kernel reporting mAh wrongly capacity happened in 4.4.2 update, on 4.3 many users say it was showing 3200mAh correctly.

I bought this phone last year in july and everything was going pretty smoothly until the nougat update. It completely broke my phone.
MY PHONE GETS FULLY CHARGED IN 30-45 MINS(OBVIOUSLY A BUG).
BATTERY DRAIN IS TERRIBLE, FROM 100% TO 15-20 % IN MAXIMUM 1 HOUR.
PHONE GETS SHUT DOWN ALL OF A SUDDEN AND SHOWS WRONG BATTERY PERCENTAGE.
Now let me tell you all what I have tried to fix this and STILL TRYING. -_-
In January 2017 tried methods like factory reset, clear cache partition etc, nothing works.
Now this month I thought of going back to MM to fix the problem l, that too didn't work.( I downgraded using fastboot)
Again updated to nougat and rooted my phone for the first time, and tried some popular custom recovery. Result = No change what so ever.
Tried Elementalx kernel = No results.
Currently using the Lineage OS 14.1 latest version ( heard it's the most stable CM) = no change even after using some battery optimising apps like greenify.
Attaching battery info screenshot for reference.
If anyone found out any fix to this problem then please tell me. I feel like throwing this piece of **** in the garbage.
PS - while writing the question my battery drained almost 10%
Definitely battery or board problem. Go to service center.

I have unlocked my bootloader so I don't think they will help me. Correct me if I am wrong.

There's always a chance if it's a hardware failure of the battery. It depends on the service center. You should give it a try.

Did you get the battery drain issue resolved? My g4 plus is having a same issue after bought it a year but rarely use it....now after lightly used for about 15 mins, battery is down 10%. Any help is appreciated.

What firmware do you have on your device? Do you have any apps besides the standard stock apps (e.g. Google apps) on your device? How strong is your signal?
You may wish to download Better Battery Stats (free version here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809 ) or GSAM Battery Monitor to check if there's any apps or processes draining your battery.
Alternatively, as others have suggested, if there's no obvious draining apps, it could be a firmware issue (try a clean, complete firmware flash) or a battery issue.

1. What firmware do you have on your device? I have the original unrooted stock rom running Android 7.0 and just checked no update needed.
2. Do you have any apps besides the standard stock apps (e.g. Google apps) on your device? The G4 plus is showing i have 133 app installed and currently running Nova Launcher.
3. How strong is your signal? I am setting it at Airplane mode while turning wifi on just to listen to music and surf the web.
I will download the Better Battery Stats and GSAM Battery Monitor to monitor the battery performance.
Thanks for your reply.
A possible cause is that the connector between battery and motherboard is loose (so that the accu cannot give full power to the motherboard). To fix this, you need to open your phone with a t4 torx screwdriver and tweezers (look for the instruction videos on this on youtube). Disconnect and reconnect the battery cable connector to the motherboard and make sure it is well fixed.
In my case this worked like a charm, I also noticed that next to the battery having normal behavior again, the phone was also much faster. Apparently the processor speed was also tuned down as the battery could not give full power before applying this fix. Saved me 25 / 70 / 230 euros (new battery / new battery with service costs / new phone)

Thanks a lot Rinthros for your solution. My Moto G4 Plus caused same issue after having overnight charging for two consecutive nights. 2nd day morning I realized that my phone discharged with normal use in only 1 hour. And after get fully charged in only 30 minutes. It felt very sad but then found this solution by Rinthros. I did exactly the same. Opened my phone with t4 for screwdriver and disconnected battery connectors and just reconnected it. It worked for me exactly smooth and amazing. Now after doing so from last 3 days my phone working as it was previously.
Thanks a lot for your solution Rinthros.
:fingers-crossed::good:
I too had the same problem but actually this occurs after updating it to Oreo my battery is not fully charging and after unplugging battery percent remains same got stuck after 1hr of usage device gets shutdown due to low battery all these problem are only in stock Oreo so I downgraded to marshmallow everything works fine after a battery calibration I dont know what was the problem on Oreo guys pls help me to fix it
Thanks a lot Rinthros. My battery was original from 2016 and tired. I decided to buy a new and followed an instruction on the net. After a day or two I noticed rapid drain and quick charge . In the end I had 30 min of use before I needed to charge again. I opened the unit and, for sure, the connection between battery and motherboard was loose. Fixed this and this was very successful. Two hours later, after re-charge, my Moto 4 is still on 94%. My theory is that a floor-drop caused the disconnect. I visited another forum in search for a solution, but nothing helped. I think this solution applies to other versions of Moto. Please Lenovo, listen to Rinthros, this can save you a lot of customers. Moto is a greate phone and deserves better support.
