For me it was a case of trying a darky's rom, realising how it all worked, THEN using the kitchen, I cooked roms with the features I liked and flashed them, tested them for looks etc and then decided that a stock rom with a nice theme was my way, I am now learning to make my own packages up
Try the one you selected, if it stinks, then flash another
I store ALL my contacts in google, then I have no issue with contacts, as soon as am happy, I sign in and down they come
I have tested and used titanium and mybackup for the apps, but end up installing from new each time as I change my mind
U can also look at mine.

Agree that's the whole key to flashing roms understand what you are doing Read the stickies and FAQs . Read the instructions with the rom .
Dont flash until you know your path to recovery .
Have a read of a number posts if multiple help i broke my phone posts all use the same rom developer then for a newbie it makes sense to steer clear of that rom .
Its not hard the hard part comes from not bothering to read .
Suggest build your own at the rom kitchen .

^ Can anyone post the download link for the rom? It seems you have to login in order to see the link.
KLICK
On the download site, choose the green button saying "普通下载".
If its not working, I maybe can download it and upload it somewhere else, because for me the download works (maybe because I'm behind the great firewall? hrhr)
After some testing, it seems like you have to flash a faux kernel for it to boot. And I can't seem to connect to any wifi networks nor is the cellular network working...
It is a great rom, the themes are amazing, it's quick and has many extra features, I would suggest it if we could get the connection problem solved, anyone have any ideas?

It probably installs chinese radio along with the rom, which isn't compatible with our baseband. Once I finish downloading, I will have a look at it.

But now someone posted the link ;-)
Edit:
I will try this one, too, because I have a chinese Atrix (says ATT on box, but came with chinese retail) and with neutrino rom, my batterie gets killed too fast... Like 14% over night with no data and no wifi, so around 20-30% with wifi on.
Maybe this rom with the chinese Radio will work for me...
I had a chine Radio installed before BP_N_something and thats not working with Neutrino (says Baseband unknown).
I will report if this one is better for my bat!
I confirm that flashing the 37 radio doesn't work, it still won't pick anything up... Hopefully we can get some help...

Hey! I haven't flash the rom yet because I'm busy with my thesis...
But some days ago, I found this chinese site with all the chinese Radios (BP_N_***) and some other Radios that should work with the chinese Rom.
Maybe one of these is working for you?

Edit:
It may work with the BP-Radio, beacuse with my stock chinese ROM, only the BP-Radios worked (maybe Kernel related...), and with Neutrino, no BP_N_*** Radio got any connection. Maybe this hint can help?

Great job. Can someone re-upload the themes from post#2 to mediafire or something?
Question:
Do I need to flash webtop?
I'm not using it at the moment...
If I don't flash webtop, I don't need the fix, right?
P.S.:
I can upload the themes soon!
Edit:
WTF?! What kind of boot animation is that? The "Atrix" looks nice, but why sound?? Can I change that??
Edit2:
Sorry, can't upload the themes, mediafire is blocked in china and with vpn it will take like one month

If you don't flash the webtop then you don't need the fix... You can change the boot animation, find one in the themes section and replace the current one in /system/media to change it....
Ok, so I have tested this rom now!
Looks very nice!
I choose the Sony-Skin with white letters on black background.
But I have to say, it's not as smooth as the CM7 Neutrino Rom.
I will give it a day or two and then decide if I go back to my old backup!
But the skins are awesome. I love the taskbar, I love the Sony-App-Menu (had an Xperia before) and I love the background of the settings.
Just miss the smoothness and that's a killer for me :/
I'm using the 1.41 Radio to check battery life.
Any idea how I can acces the batterystat menu like on any other rom? I can't find this graph thingy...

you should really try using "betterbatterystats" either from the thread in the general Android development section "android apps and games" its free, or go to the play store and download it there. i've also done a review of it on my youtube channel if you want to see what it does and how to use it. it's the best battery stat app out there period =)

Hi everyone,
I recently flashed cyanogenmod 7.2 onto my HTC Wildfire and it kept restarting for an odd reason, I restored back to SplashMOD and it still has the same problem. I've turned 3G off and it seems to be fine, its just when I turn 3G on
Any help?

It says my phone needs to be GSM (I'm guessing that means unlocked) which my phone isn't. What is a good radio to flash? and do i need to do it before i flash a rom?
GSM means that it's a standard phone that works in any country. ie: it's not CDMA, which mean that it doesn't need special frequencies from the service provider.

like lo2ay already said GSM ("Global System for Mobile Communications") doesn''t mean "unlocked" and has nothing to do wih it.
But in case you didn't unlock your phone - and I'm not getting you totally wrong - this brings up a much more interesting question: if you don't have an unlocked Wildfire - how the hell have you been able to flash a ROM anyway? I'd guess one of the following might match your situation:
- you have a different phone (not a HTC Wildfire)
- you just thought you're going to flash a ROM but did something else instead
- your Wildfire is unlocked and you don't know it
Are you really serious about what you've done? What tutorial/how to did you use to flash Cyanogen Mod?
And yes: if your phone is a Wildfire (buzz) and not unlocked/rooted you can't flash a new radio because you can't flash anything custom...
I think he was meaning sim unlocked?

oh yes - I've been thinking about that for a few seconds - you're probably right.
Regarding my own little problem which I've also discussed a bit desperately here: may I ask you what you would try next with all your Wildfire experience? (I've never been really convinced that the V6 Supercharger or 3G Turbocharger scripts could be involved but after reading that a few people got that bootloop prob with 3G after messing around with them it looked so obvious).
I feared to investigate any further because I had the feeling it could cost a lot of time... so when I went on to solve the problem it turned out I was right with that: I've flashed the 7.2 stable today - with doing just a dalvik and system wipe without success and then a complete wipe - no success either.
I fear to revert back to a true stock rom (including s-off again) as it took me a lot of sweat to do that initially (that has been just in the middle of transformation from revolutionary to alpha rev with all the goldcard stuff etc.) - too make it short: what would you do?
Thx in advance for some input on this...
I would first check my mtd size settings! If you dont know what custom mtds are it means your not using them,if you are using them then you must remember to flash the bravo boot file straight after your rom flash before booting! If this is not your issue then i would do a clean flash of a rom. I.e wipe system, cache, dalvik cache, go into mount and storage and do all available wipes NOT sdcard, then flash the rom. If all fails then i would 1st try a reflash of a custom recovery and repeat previous clean rom flash. Now if it still didnt play ball i would scream at it, throw it at a wall then regret that step and move on to ruu.exe and start afresh lol.
On the v6 etc etc issue. Ive publicly said many times how much i hate this script and others like it! But this is only my opinion as i have had issues using them too in the early days. An app i use still to this day which gives you complete control over the effects of these scripts is autokiller memory optimizer. I will link to a thread i made some time ago to explain this app which can be found on the market.
This again can and most likely will be argued or debated as to its function but in my experience its a must have when used correct.

Sorry i only just noticed your link so my advice was for current op issue. However yes i believe these scripts are the cause im afraid. Still i would give you the same advice again as above or try a clean sense rom flash.
You can get safe ruu flashable zips too so as not to lose security or root so try these before going the exe route.
Hope you get a fix.

Now it's getting really weird... I've just put in a different SIM (out of the family) - different carrier. (the idea came to my mind somehow). Looks like the phone doesn't reboot with that.
If that's true and not by accident - what does that mean now? Usually I'd think about the radio - but I've completely wiped the phone (including a sense install in between) - could this be a hardware problem?
I guess I'll do the RUU thingy anyway. So I'll start to gather information on that.
If anyone has a good suggestion to do that as easy and quick as possible - I'd appreciate any suggestions.
--- EDIT ---
If someone has a suggestion for a small Sense ROM (yeah I know) I'd prefer to do that first...

Thanks I can try but I am very scared of bricking my phone and my last phone just broke so I am very scared. I will get it for christmas Have there been any full bricks?
You can't really tell if a phone's completely bricked or if the user is just... um.. unable to do things correctly. Not everyone's a geek and there are people who complain that things aren't working even if they're given clear instructions on how to do it.
I just flashed with the Dynamic 2.0 ROM and it's working great. It does have a bug that I want to report (I have less than 10 posts), but I'll do it soon.
If there's someone else looking at this, here's the bug:
In XBox, when you shake your avatar and make him/her fall down, one of the animations when he gets up is to be pissed and pull the screen to a side so that the games list appears. This ROM (like the Tango ROM I installed before this) mirrors the action. He seems to be pulling on the opposite side of the screen instead. It looks awkward, and I know this is something that worked fine with my vanilla 7.5.

There's basically 2 step you have to go through to install custom rom:
1) Install MAGLDR
2) Install Custom Rom of your choice
-Link below is for MAGLDR download, read and follow the direction, (download DFT_Summy_Rainbow.zip) Chances are you'll be asked to download several different software to make it work properly on your computer.

-For 7.8 rom, try the link below for Dynamic 2.0 (that is if your Samsung Focus is rev. 1.3) It will take 10 to 15 minutes to install fully, so be patient, don't panic.

I would highly recommend you goto YOUTUBE and search for "Samsung focus custom rom" and watch the videos very carefully.
Rom Guidance

Hello I am a total noob to Windows Phone 7 and I will be getting the Samsung Focus in the next week or two and I am planning on flashing(fully unlocking) it. I have done some research on this site and I heard that windowsbreaking method no longer works and the only way to unlock is by flashing a custom ROM. If so, what is the most stable WP7.8 custom ROM that is out for the Samsung Focus and is their a way to just unlock a stock ROM because I prefer to have my phone stock without anything added and don't worry I've modded stuff before :silly: just not WP7 devices :good:

By far and away, and with the utmost respect to every contributing developer here or there, the most stable 7.8 ROM for the Focus is the 3.05 Clean ROM from Voluptuary. I've had every single Rev 1.3 or Rev 1.4 Rom released for this device and this one is the smoothest. Tiles open and close beautifully, artist match the artwork, no file errors, no unreasonable battery issues, even has a xap file deployer in place for the straight talk xaml. It's just solid all the way around.
Good luck and I hope this helps. Located under Samsung Focus Development. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1528984

Just be patient, make sure you read things through a couple times first and don't be too quick and screw your devices lol This one won't, but I've seen buddies do it. Make sure your contacts and photos are backed via outlook and skydrive or whatever you use, just generally cover your butt. Have Zune downloaded and installed and have your phone charged up a about half way or so. Once you get the hang of it, it's prety simple. Have WinZip or something installed so you can unzip it and the whole thing takes like 10 minutes.

I was a noob just like you and I screwed up big time with m phone So after some struggle I was able to get things sorted out. I have prepared a blog post on that. You can refer if you want. Currently Im not able to post the link; you can google for "Unbrick Samsung Focus" and then switch to blogs, first link would be to my blog.
Best Focus Roms
Clean Rom and Dynamics rom both are really good and stable rom's. No issues or bugs reported so far.
Hey guys.
I just got an Omnia II, and I want to put Android on it. I want to know how they compare, and which release you currently think is the best. These are the ones I'm aware of:
Hungarian O2Droid project (Beta2) http://o2droid.phj.hu/
Frenkiedroid (8.1)
CM6New by Almar & others (v4)
Froyo bundle by ritchietos (v2) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1066313
Twister 2
Gingerbread CM7 (Alpha2)
The obvious important things to me are stability, functionality, battery life, performance, and future compatibility. Any insights on this would be much appreciated. Thanks!
I followed the instructions to install CM6NEW, but I'm unable to restore the ROM image. Am I doing something wrong?
Two other people here with same problem and no solution yet ...

I tried all the CM6NEW image tools: v4, v3, v2, v1 ... they all do the same thing. I also tried all the versions of IFW I could find.
Fixed. It worked on my friend's computer. No idea why.
Some questions about Twister ...
Instructions are for phones with 2GB or 8GB. I think my phone says it has 16GB of internal memory. Should I do anything differently?
Also, does Twister overwrite Windows? What do I do if something goes wrong, or I want to put Windows back on?

I meet same issue before. I guess it may be caused by the busing (32bit / 64bit) issue of your computer...!

There is no difference on your phone internal memory. But I highly recommend you to install it into your SD card. I have tried to install it into internal memory. However I have made a wrong steps in partitioning such that I crashed the internal memory and cannot be recovered now.
For your second question, Twister will not overwrite your Windows. It will be run under Windows (just like an application running under Windows). Don't worry on it...!
I hope my experience can help...
Thanks for the answers.
Yes that was the difference. My computer runs 32-bit. The one that worked was 64-bit.
I will try putting Twister on a 2GB SD card. The class number is not marked, so I hope it will be fast enough.
Hello everybody!!
Enyone knows where can I find all that software which is mentioned in that topic??
And answer "ask google" won't satisfy me...
I would appreciate any help...
