Phone reboots constantly after flashing ICS roms with sense4 - Desire HD General

My phone always reboots after i flash one of the new roms that have ICS and sense. Sometimes it reboots during the configuration phase after the first reboot and sometimes i get pass the configuration and then goes into a bootloop. I have tryied Sabsa Prime 2.1, Nik Project x 4.1, Virtuos Infinity alpha3 and Blackout ICS Incredible 3.0.0, all of them acting the same. When i flash a rom with 2.3.5 and not ICS, it works perfectly. I've also changed the recovery and used 4ext and clockwork aswell and I am very good at following instructions and have been flashing roms after roms for over a year now with no problems. I would appreciate some ideeas please, i would really like to try the new ICS sense roms. Thank you.

What are the steps you are doing to flash the rom?

I too have been experiencing constant shut down of my DHD, since upgrading to ICS 8.4 AKOP, then tried to upgrade to Blackout incredible 3, but the problem is still there. It starts for me when receiving calls.
I do full wipe, but problem is still there

It seems i have found a solution. I used to have 12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M radio and replaced it with 12.68.60.29U_26.16.04.09 from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295&highlight=radio So far so good. I have managed to get pass the configuration phase in the roms and not a single reboot for about 4 hours.

Interesting. If any issues, please report back.

[Q] No OC after s-off

Hi.
I cant seem to get my girlfriends wildfire to accept a overclocked kernel after i used Alpha´s new s-off tool, and rooted it. No matter what kernel i use, it never starts up, it hangs very long time at the screen, HTC makes it quietly (or something) and then i restarts?
Any suggestions?
And no, she dosent want CM, she wants sense :-(
Cheers and thx for helping.

then only one solution I belive ,reflash rom...then be easy on oc,step by step and nex time skip to sheck "set on boot option, then if it freezes it will boot stock @528 and you wil know what is max Mhz you can set, good luck
There's another problem with your idea...
Whenever he flashes a OC Kernel he's bootlooping.
he should post what rom is he trying to oc then we will be smarter I belive, like this its just guesing... right
Edit:when he reflash rom he will be able to BOOT right?
Guessing from the fact he mentioned HTC Sense, I'm presuming he's using stock.
And yes, it should since ROMs install a new Kernel.
should use custom sense based rom, not the stock
There's only one person that can tell us that *cough*
just trying to help, since he cant get oc on stock rom with any oc kernel...custom rom is logic idea i belive
That's true.
And if his GF is not so technologically interested she wouldn't notice the difference between stock or WildPuzzle ;D
Have you tried HCDR.kernel v4.2. It can be flashed on any wildfire rom.
Personally tried it on stock 2.2.1 (after alpharevx s-off) without any issues.
Link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798471
You further need an overclocking app like set cpu. If facing any issues, format the phone and make a clean install. Still facing issues, go with a sense custom Rom which already has inbuilt oc kernel.

Hi guys, sorry for not answering, but i live in Denmark and its now 10 o´clock in the morning, i posted just before midnight.
She is using stock rom 2.2, and i have tryed the wildpuzzle and i didnt think it was smooth, it gave her errors, and then she complained :-(
I have tryed theese kernels:
oc-kernel-2.6.32
oc-kernel-2.6.32 v2
Hcdr.kernel_4.2b_flashable
Could there be a recovery version issue, using 2.5.0.7, just wild gues?
Thx for helping me out.
Brian
Well you can only flash Kernels with 2.5
Have you tried other Sense based roms?
(DK custom or JokerDroid (has a different theme then stock))
Hi.
Yes i have tryed those, but she is not like me, she wants a phone that is working 100%, me i dont care, i work on my legend all the time.
So the fact that she wants a phone that is working 100% made me stay on stock and try to renew the kernel, but isnt working the way i want it to.
Maybe i shold try a clean install og stock, and then the kernel
Tryed again, fresh stock rom, still no good.
Jokerdroid 4.2 worked, lets se her reaction
Thx for helping.

Missing Flash_Image

Guys i've flashed SFM 3.0 hero, good rom but the wifi doesn't works so i want come back to stock. the big problem is that's my sister's phone and this rom has deleted the recovery and now i don't manage to reinstall it. it says flash_image not found. i even tried with this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253 at the step missing flash image, but every thing i do it get reveals useless. here's a screenshot of prompt adb: http://imageshack.us/f/338/immaginevi.png/
Guys please help me, it's important!
more details:
i've started with the stock 2.1 and rooted with universal androot and flashed SFM 3.0 with AmonRA recovery.
now if i try open the recovery it's stuck on the bootlogo. i tried with fastboot, adb, the official RUU but it says that my phone's firmware is wrong.
update: now doesn't stuck on the boot logo, but it boots normally without a recovery.
it's rooted on the SFM 3.0 rom and give the "flash_image not found" error
first things first. i have no idea how to get back to stock using the official RUU
however i do have a few alternatives you could try just in case you don't find the answer your looking for
now you say you flashed sfm 3.0. a similar rom to this would be Wildheroc ROSE V5. its exactly the same as sfm 3.0 but its more stable. it can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316886 also you could try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24343144&postcount=500 which is a themed version of ROSE V5 created by slobo2712.
if your looking for a stock rom then i highly recomend Heroine ++ which can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295991 this rom is seriously fast. its basically the same as stock with a few minor adjustments here and there
there are other roms which remove sense from your phone that i could recommend but if your looking to keep sense on your phone then those two roms are the ones I'd highly recommend
i know this doesn't exactly answer your question of how to flash the official RUU from HTC but as i said previously in the post i simply don't know. these are just a few options you could try if you don't find your answer.
if i can't access the recovery how can flash another rom??

Can you still use the phone normally???? If so maybe try installing Rom manager from the market and then flashing the recovery from there

i managed it with an official RUU, don't remember wich. now i've another problem. from 2.1 stock i've flashed Elelinux gingerbread ROM, but 3D games like dead runner wich worked on stock rom on this one don't work. maybe the kernel? i still have the stock one.

Do you DEFINITELY still have the stock kernal? The reason I ask is because Elelinux roms usually come with flykernal13.
Sometimes re flashing a rom can solve issues. So I'd say go into your recovery and wipe data 2 or 3 times just to make sure because 1 wipe sometimes doesn't get rid of everything. Then wipe cache and dalvik cache and then re flash the rom
If that doesn't work then you could try flashing the Las Venturas kernal but I'd doubt it would be a kernal problem
You're wright it isn't a kernel problem but i did all kind Of wipes but 3D games and applications don't work

I've never touched the bootloader so I'm afraid I can't really answer that question
As for best Rom. There isn't really an overall best rom. It all just comes down to personal preference and what your looking for in a Rom but there are roms that are a step ahead in each android version.
If stock 2.1 is what your looking for then you can't beat heroine ++ if you want sense or you could try VE 6.2 if you want AOSP
As for 2.2 froyo you could try FloYo. I used it once and it seemed ok
And as for 2.3 gingerbread. If your after a 2.3 sense Rom then wildheroc is by far the best one around at the moment. As for 2.3 AOSP roms I'd highly recommend decked_x or any of the elelinux roms or even the two latest cyanogenmod nightlies

Comments on Energy™ - ICS CM9 Kang ROM Themed

Hi,
Long time reader, 1st time contributor to these forums. Had some comments on this rom, but not yet allowed to post in Dev section yet so thought I would post here and hope it filters to dev and team.
1st, this is an excellent build and as always I want to thank the dev teams that work so hard on these. Ya'll are awesome
2nd, had issues with numerous SOD errors with this rom which mostly went away once, as suggested by someone else, I increased the Min CPU freq to 800 MHz. It seems to shorten the battery life some, but as it seems to help significantly, I can definitely live with this until this issue can be ironed out.
3rd, most of the remaining SOD issues I have had seem almost always to follow use of graphic intensive apps (e.g. games) or ones that attempt to show HD videos. I am unsure if this is related to the known graphic hardware acceleration issue, or to something as of yet unknown. I also wonder if this is the common experience or if this is specific to my hardware for some reason.
4th, these issues have persisted through out all the updates. I have already tried multiple wipes, repeated fresh downloads of the roms, and fresh re-installs of all apps (i.e. no Titanium restores of apps and/or data) with no change, better or worse, of these SOD issues.
Thanks for reading this post, and for your comments if any. I plan to add to this thread as I gain more experience with this rom.
Sincerely,
William

Thanks for your reply The link you mentioned is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382999
I had not flashed this because I heard that the Dev on this kernel was having RL issues and therefor not able to work on this kernel right now.
I have also been watching Hashcode's kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1545172 but looks like it is still not quite ready for widespread use.
Anyone else have experience with these kernels and would care to comment on one verses the other???
Thanks in advance for your time and interest

I tried to flash this rom, kept getting stuck in the boot animation. I let it set for about 10 minutes once, as someone suggested it might just take a while, but it still didn't boot. Had the same problem on the Reloaded Rom CM9. Finally I just installed the Hellfire CM7 Rom and was able to boot. So I'm sticking with this one for now. Someone suggested wiping after installing the CM9 rom and trying to reboot; I haven't tried this yet but will give it a go later.
I also had the SOD a lot while using this rom. But, I sold that Kindle Fire. So, I didn't really have time to troubleshoot.
The girl that bought it was not tech savvy in anyway. She was telling me the thing won't come on. I was like oh yeah, it does that sometimes. It's called the sleep of death. She didn't understand my technical terms there. So, I said, "It's zombie mode." It is un-dead. She understood that. Then, I told her how to fix it, and talked her through installing CM9.
The point of my awesome story is that SOD is now a feature called "Zombie Mode."
Just have her flash either hashcode's or intersectraven's (sluggish in my experience) kernel.
It's a pretty sweet ROM and the main issue (SODs) isn't the ROM's fault.
Now, if there was a way to switch between different wifi signals like in the stock one, without having to access the Settings menu...
I had numerous SODs while running the default clock frequencies. After changing to the following, I haven`t had a single one:
Sleep: 600 min / 600 max
Wake: 300 min / 1200 max
Sent from my Kindle Fire using XDA
Note that I`m using the default kernel provided in the Energy ROM package, and getting amazing battery life(11+ hours of reading)!

I have tried similar settings with virtual elimination of SOD's with the stock kernel with this ROM, but still occasionally getting some.
Though I had originally (see 1st post) said following graphic intensive apps, I realized last night that these apps are also sound intensive as well. Not sure if it might be a glitch in the sound driver as before the last update I was getting multiple FC's of the mixer.

The 2.6.* version, not the new 3.0 one - it was packed with Energy ROM up to 3-13, then it was switched to miui's kernel.
It's very stable and fast, in my experience. Intersectraven's kernel was stable, but performed poorly. Your mileage may vary...
Since getting my KF back in December I have tried numerous ROM's most of which refused to shut down for me without holding the button till my thumb went numb. Since I know nothing, I follow the loading instructions religiously although sometimes I do wipe twice, just to be sure. On some the wireless was a problem and most froze at one time or another and others would not access the market reliably.
After each trial I have returned to a ICS ROM which was released on Feb 09. Don't know what it's called anymore but it has worked flawlessly for me. It's not quite as fast and smooth as Energy or Reload, but it just works with decent battery life. There are not a lot of bells and whistles but what it does do, it does well. I will keep trying the latest ICS, just for kicks but until these great developers fix the video portion, the battery life portion and the freezing, I doubt I'll stay. I wish I knew who developed the one I am using. I'd like to thank him/her.

Thanks for this information. For some reason I can't pull up Hashcode's web site, but I am at work with a very restrictive web blocking policy (In fact this site is blocked ) If I get a bit of non-family time at home this week I am going to see if I can find the previous version and try it out. I just realized that I had forgotten about this thread. Since I last posted here, I have had a lot of RL issues and I have since switched to gedeROM v1.1 {3.0 Kernel, CM9, Android 4.0.4} which includes Hashcode's Ver 3.0 Kernel. Thanks to all who replied to this thread. I would consider it closed.

Hi,
I was running Energy 3.19.2012 until now.
Tried to install Energy 4.29.2012 update (with Hashcode Kernel and new CM9) but I was stuck on boot animation (never got to the system itself).
Did a FULL Wipe (Factory reset > wipe cache > wipe dalvik > wipe system) before flashing. Got stuck on boot anim.
If anyone has the same issue : I had to reflash on top of already installed ROM (Full wipe > 1st install > factory reset > 2nd install > wipe cache + dalvik).
This solved my "stuck on bootanim" problem (which I never had before). Now with KF and HWA \o/
Just flashed the latest Energy ROM. Everything is AWESOME except for the fact that the Google Play Store force closes every time I try to open it. No more SOD or freezing, and it is extremely snappy.
Anyone know of a fix for the force closing of the google play store?

Never happened to me.
Did you wipe everything in TWRP before flashing the 4.29 version ?
"Forced Closed" market problems has been fixed since the 3.19. If you didn't wipe it may be the cause of market FC.
Or you could just try to go to apps > All > Google Play Store and delete cache here.

ICS v. Sense

I know it's like comparing apples to oranges, but how do you guys feel about the current development behind the ICS ROMs v. Sense (I've namely looked into The Classic 1.0 and DigitalKarma's Heaven "Sense4 meets Sense1" so far).
I haven't played around with Sense at all since rooting my phone back in September when I flashed CM7. Currently, I have jmztaylor's unofficial CM9 ICS ROM (5-10 stable build, I believe) on my phone and I'm liking it. However, I mainly hopped over to CM in order to get rid of the bloatware, thus increasing my battery life while at college (where I got awful service). Now that I've graduated, I'm home, working, and best off all, I have great service again.
That being said, I've been thinking about trying out a Sense based ROM again but can't decide if I should stick with ICS or not.
Thoughts? Opinions on any and all of the ROMs pertaining to ICS and Sense are appreciated.
I apologize. I only searched the General forum when seeing if this has been asked before, but I just found this on the Q&A forum.
Input is still more than welcome here, as my topic is a little more specified and I'd like to have reasoning behind the input too. But I'll continue reading that thread as well.
I personally love jmz's cm9 rom. Sense does offer 4g and Netflix and camcorder but it usually looks annoying and is pretty slow. Cm9 is smooth and fast with no annoying colors. I can't wait for a more stable version of sense 4 for the og evo.

i am using smelkusmod v4.1 recovery could this be the issue i have an ext 3 as well
Flashed Classic earlier to give it a shot. Sense just feels so incredibly foreign to me now so I decided to revert back to ICS at least for the weekend. After that, I may give Sense another go around.
This time with ICS, I'm giving MIUI a shot since I've been on CM (7 and then 9) since I originally rooted.
All feedback is still welcome, because eventually I'll probably end up trying more to see what feels the best for me.
both jmz's and mazda's cm9's have been stable for me...but seeing mazda's is based off of jmz's it makes sense. aokp has been stable at times with certain builds but i have to admit that i was never had the same results after reflashing at times

Partition your SD card
bump it to ext3
then to ext4 (for aosp and ics ONLY!)
wipe all except SDcard 3 times
then install
I recommend Mazdariders23 CM9 ROM: http://changelogs.tincandroid.com/CM9.html
(Btw mazwoz is now b6)
I also recommend this kernel: http://goo.im/devs/atyoung/Mason-RC/Mason-EI-0.1.5-RC5-sbc-supersonic-signed.zip (thats for cm9 only)
here is for all ICS ROMs: http://goo.im/devs/atyoung/Mason-RC/Mason-I-d15rc4-sbc-fso-supersonic-signed.zip
smelkusmod is now version 3: http://d-h.st/users/smelkus/?fld_id=1930#files
I had to unroot my phone last week to get a replacement I was on jmz cm9 before he left and came back. I didn't miss not being able to record video but now that I'm too lazy to reroot. I'm stuck on sense and I finally tried Netflix and been recording videos more. I still like ICS but I will stick to stock until my next phone.

I like pics much better than sense but! I'm liking sense 4.0 and the port by Platt is turning out amazing!

myTouch 4G - Issue with more than one ROMs

I've been trying some CM101/AOKP/AOSP as well as Sense ROMs On-n-Off and lately facing the same issue,
- After a while the phone staying locked, it becomes unresponsive and then I'd to either reboot or pull battery out ...
- Sometimes the phone acts hanged and then I need to pull the battery ...
Somehow, I've experienced this with all the ROMs, so may be my 2 Yr old soldier is retiring or there is some fix I can do ...
Note ~ for all the ROMs, I always did full wipe and flashed them ...
Does this happen on gingerbread roms?

Ah, I can't imagine to go back to Gingerbread !! I will keep observing, if so, I will go back.
Btw, any suggestions for a good stable GB ROM except stock ...
ROM issues
It could be happening because of an app you're running. I had a similar issue with multiple ROMs, it turned out to be Swype was the culprit. I'd try either running one of those ROMs without anything additional installed, apps or backed up data, or see what's running that didn't come with the ROM and freeze them.
Thanks, sounds like a plan ...
Because every time I installed a ROM, I use TiBu to restore everything ... And I did switches between ICS <-> JB ...

I recently used mG.mW_WiLdFiRe.zip it was pretty much stock gb with wifi calling that actually worked great. If you want something different I'd look at cyanogen mod 7 they had stable 2.3 roms.
I'm trying to find a good stable ICS rom that won't boot loop on me :-/
