Hello XDA-developers,
A few days ago I've received a HTC Magic from a friend of mine.
I already told him not to flash the phone if yo'don;t know what you're doing, but he did it anyway
He tried to flash it to a different software version, but he got stuck.
Now I am stuck with this phone.
I've tried probably all the tutorials on this forum and all the others, but now I'm really desperate.
So please help me.
Here is the situation:
Type of Phone: HTC Magic
Hboot: 1.33.0007 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
Radio: 2.22.19.261
The phone cannot access its SD-card in recovery mode(2e).
It gives me the following error:
"E:Can't mount /dev/blcok/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(No such file or directory)"
It does not boot anymore to the system(it does boot but gets stuck at the lockscreen, where it has no option to unlock).
It's not accessible with adb.
It's accessible with fastboot.
Tried to enable SD with flashboot:
"fastboot oem enableqxdm 0"
But getting:
"...
(bootloader) [ERR] Command error !!!
OKAY [ 0.007s]
finished. total time: 0.007s"
Tried to flash bootloader:
"fastboot boot recovery.img"
But getting:
"downloading 'boot.img'...
FAILED (remote: not allow)
finished. total time: 0.000s"
Tried to copy sappimg.zip to SD-card, but since it's probably not accessible,
it cannot find it in HBOOT-mode so also doesn't flash it.
It's a Dutch Vodafone Branded HTC Magic.
I've been working on this phone for the last 48 hours, I know it's not worthed, but it's the principle
I know the problem is in SPL version, but all the tutorials mention that you update this throught the SD-card, which I cannot access.
Anyone there to help me with this problem?

Hi.
First, to keep a long story short here is the info on my Magic:

Second, here's what's _working_:
* No problem in booting into fastboot-mode
* Can easily start RAv:s recovery with "fastboot boot recovery.img" and get to its meny with all the options (using RAv-1.2.1H)
* Can run adb-commands, getting the shell etc
Thirdly, my actual problem(s):
* Whatever sdcard im using I cant get at it (won't mount, tried 4 different cards, all of them have worked before!)
* I dont have a block device called mmcblk0 in /dev/block as I see others have..
* If I try to mount, I get this error: "mount: can't find /dev/block/mmcblk0 in /etc/fstab"
So.. Im humbled before you. Its not even big words, I really really need my precious phone back, and I hope that you can help me. Very much so.
Now, Ive tried perhapse 10-15 different things via all the threads Ive read on XDA and other forums. Ive tried to do a "fastboot flash hboot hboot.img" with different SPL:s, always get the error
$ fastboot-mac flash hboot hboot.img
sending 'hboot' (512 KB)... OKAY
writing 'hboot'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
$
Im stumped.
//N
Forgot - I do have nandroid backups with all the *.img and Ive tried to flash_image them back. It works, they are all accepted but no go in booting, just hangs on the HTC-logo (waited about 30 mins).
Did you try an wipe?

If you mean within RAv-recovery-menu, yes.
So.. No input?
writing 'hboot'... INFOsignature checking...
Verify FAIL
..seems to be the issue, right? That I cant reflash another SPL. But since Im still able to go into fastboot and also flashboot into the RAv-recovery-image there should be a way to fix this.
Im hoping?
You have perfect SPL. You can't flash anything to it currently. HAve you erased your ROM? Can you boot in to the phone normally?

ummm, use universal androot to get root. then just use terminal emulator to flash a custom recovery! You can find the .apk online or on the market (if it is still there)
You have a perfected spl so no fastboot access.
thank for the tip but is that method for the old mt3g only. im stuck at the boot screen and it wont boot up. do you think because there norom were flash that why it didn't boot up
i tried sappimg image again it still got the same error. i would like to know what is the best method for creating a gold cards. the type of card i was using is a kingston 2gb micro sd
please help root or unroot my phone i been doing research but still no progress try alot of tutorial
This has happened to me before and what i did is I looked for another sappimg.zip file on Google. The one on the link you said would always tell me that the main version was older.

Easy with this. You load the wrong sappimg and your phone will turn into a paperweight. Your either doing something wrong in the goldcard process or your SD card isn't going to work. Got another to try and use? Your in a boot loop because your using the wrong radio BTW.

thank you guy for helping. can you guy provide me a link to the right sappimg.zip for my phone and how could i make a gold card if my phone doesn't boot up. I would like to know is there a way of making a gold card without a phone.

im stuck at the radi0v2 part i let it load until the battery ran out. Please help what can i do to wipe out that radio that was mention to me it was the wrong radio.
You are VERY close to BRICK your device...
Follow my instructions, and you will be safe... READ ALL BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING
You have a very bad spl/radio combo.
But luckily, you have eng spl, so we can still fix this!
1) Flash the 1.76.2007 spl to match the radio or else we will no be able to do ****!
Download my fastboot commander tool (from my signature, magic version).
Boot into fastboot mode
In the first tab(using the tool), select SPL, and navigate to "magicFiles" folder and find the spl version above (tagget "NewSPL").
Flash ONLY the SPL.
Reboot and verify that your hboot info changed.
2) Flash the right radio/spl/recovery combo.
Download this file:
http://rapidshare.com/files/432674806/MagicFenderCombo.zip
Still using the tool and the first tab, make sure that you now fill all 3 options. The "Flash all" button should be enabled by now. Go ahead and push it. If all goes well, then the only thing left is to flash a good rom using the custom recovery. I recommend cm6 to start with.
So, download this:
Download rom: http://cyanogenmod-mirror.local.host.name/ds/cm/stable/update-cm-6.1.0-DS-signed.zip
Download gapps: http://cyanogenmod-mirror.local.host...020-signed.zip
Reboot into recovery and flash the rom + gapps right after each other. Now reboot into system and enjoy.
IF you get ANY problems flashing the radio or spl... then DO NOT reboot the device, DO NOT close the tool. Take all the text from "Actual output" tab and post it here and wait for help. Or you could try to reflash ( some times the second time it works). Or try to flash only the parts which failed!
NB: Make sure that you have FULL battery before you continue!
Good luck

Why the FU*K are you flashing the spl on the radio partition...
Flash spl/hboot image on spl/hboot partition!!!!!!!!!!
that was my fault loading the wrong file but thank you for helping me out now my phone work again
I swore that he was going to brick his phone.
You need to be more careful while flashing a radio and spl. For your phone you can only have 1 radio and 1 spl (perfected spl). No other option. Anything else and you could end up having a bad day.
If you are getting Main Version Is Older when using the sappimg.nbh you will need to replace it with the 2.53.707.2 sappimg zip file. I cant post links yet so just google it. Dont extract it just leave it as a zip and make sure its just named sappimg. as long as you made your gold card correctly and your computer reads it, this will get you back to where you need to be to root.
I have looked through all of the threads dealing with this and I cannot find the answer I am looking for.
I am trying to root the MyTouch Fender and have gotten as far as the sappimg.img
However, once I am in command prompt and I try to flash the radio, I am getting that it cannot verify the signature.
All of the instructions/files I am using are from theunlockr.com
Moderators, if this is in the wrong section, please feel free to move it.
Forget about the sappimg... follow my guide... it's much more simple...
Check out my signature
Ok, I have two questions. First, will this method work with the Fender/1.2 model?
Also, as I have already mentioned, I have ran the sappimg and now the phone is stuck with a non working touch screen. I have no way of running the app. Everything has to be done through adb now.
Do you have access to the system/OS ?
Not at all.
Post here ALL your fastboot info.. ALL
Also the output from this command
Code:
fastboot getvar version-main
Ok, a new problem, now when I plug the phone in, it is not showing up in adb devices like it did two days ago.
Here is the fastboot info:

Follow this guide:
http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/11/how-to-root-the-mytouch-1-2-and-fender-mytouch/
I just checked out the numbers... you should be good to go!
Just use this rom instead when you reach step 9:
http://cyanogenmod-mirror.local.host.name/ds/cm/stable/update-cm-6.0.0-DS-signed.zip
That was the guide that I was using to begin with. My original problem is that I cannot get past step 6. Every time I try to flash anything (the radio, hboot, recovery, etc) it tells me that it has failed, the signature could not be verified. Why would it be doing this?
Well.. you have been using the wrong sappimg.zip
Use this: http://rapidshare.com/files/436753940/2.53.707.2_-_sappimg.zip
Just rename it to sappimg.zip
Then follow the guide again... From step 2 :0)
Ok, I'll give it a shot and let you know!
Ok, I just tried it again and here is what I am getting:
sending 'radio' <21504 KB>...OKAY [35.703s]
writing 'radio'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED <remote: signature verify fail>

This is where I have been stuck.
You need to follow the steps...
Like the goldcard og hboot mode are essentials for success...
Try again without using fastboot commands :0)
What do you mean about not using fastboot commands?

This is what i mean with fastboot commands...
Don't do the commands... use a goldcard and the right sappimg.zip
I need you to be a little more specific. What steps need to be taken when you say just use a gold card and the right sappimg? I am using a working gold card and the sappimg that you recommended but when the phone starts back up, I do not have a working touch screen.
To my knowledge, the way to correct this is to flash the proper recovery image. How can I do this without using fastboot commands?
Is there a writeup on the method you are recommending?
Ok, when in fasboot, at the top of the screen it says "s-on". Does this need to say "off" before it will stop rejecting the signature? Am I even on the right track?
Still haven't solved it. Any additional help would be very much appreciated! Thanks.
Hey. I had a similar problem and I fixed it by downloading a new SPL from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529019 and putting it onto my SD Card.
Using Clockworkmod recovery, I installed the SPL from my SD Card (I chose Engineering SPL 1.33.2010) and then used the recovery to reboot, which completed the installation. When I later rebooted into fastboot mode, my info had changed to S-OFF. Then I had no problem upgrading the radio and SPL to the newer versions (which is what I was trying to do in the first place).
Hope that helps you.

What is your fastboot info now? I know this is kind of dead, but we'll see.
Hi,
I come here because i tried everything I could do...
My problems began when I wanted install the Yoshi ROM.
Before I had the Cyanogen 6.1 with the SPL 1.33.2010 and Radio : 3.22.23.18.
I follow a tutorial and I saw after it was a tutorial for a Magic 32B...
So, my Magic is blocked since this moment. I have now the SPL 1.33.0013d and radio 2.22.27.08.
I tried to flash the SPL 1.33.2010 or radio 3.22.23.18 but it's not working.
Yesterday, I had again an access with the fastboot USB and the adb worked. But today, my pc can't see my device (see screenshot in attachments).
Today, I tried this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656798
So, I created my goldcard, and run the RUU but I have this error "error 131 customer id error" in the middle of the install...
So for now, the only screen I have on my magic is the logo of my operator with "FASTBOOT USB" in red on the left top when my device is connected to the computer and the screen of thee bootloader.
Someone could help me please ?
Thank's a lot !
Nobody has any idea?
Does the custom recovery work?
No, the device is blocked before, on the screen with the logo of the operator
EDIT :
The fastboot works always. But when I want flash, I have already this message :
"sending 'radio' (21376 KB)...
OKAY [ 6.047s]
writing 'radio'...
(bootloader) signature checking.
FAILED (remote: signature verify

Hi everyone,
I have an HTC Magic 32B (SFR/Vodafone FR).
I updated hboot from 1.33.0013 to 1.33.0014G (*1) to be able to unlock the bootloader with htcdev unlock.
I unlocked it successfully using HTC official instructions.
Now I want to boot or install a custom recovery (recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img) and it doesn't work.
My hboot boot says :
Code:
*** UNLOCKED ***
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0014G (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.28.25

From fastboot (when I hit Return) I have the "FASTBOOT USB" string, from fastboot if I try :
1)
Code:
C:\android\downloads>[B]fastboot boot recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img[/B]
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 1.712s]
booting...
[B]FAILED (remote: not allow)[/B]

2)
Code:

sending 'recovery' (4520 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.712s]
writing 'recovery'...
[B]FAILED (remote: not allow)[/B]
finished. total time: 1.738s
After reading htc instructions to flash img, I also tried from RUU mode using "fastboot oem rebootRUU", that gives me RUU USB on the phone and on the computer :
Code:
C:\android\downloads>fastboot oem rebootRUU
...
OKAY [ 0.012s]
finished. total time: 0.016s
Then I try :
1)
Code:
C:\android\downloads>[B]fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img[/B]
sending 'recovery' (4520 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.718s]
writing 'recovery'...
[B]FAILED (remote: image type not support)[/B]
finished. total time: 1.749s
2)
Code:
C:\android\downloads>[B]fastboot boot recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img[/B]
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 1.714s]
[B]booting...[/B]
Here it hangs, I must enter a fastboot reboot to regain the control on the device.
I don't know what's wrong here. Either from fastboot (usb) or ruu (usb) it don't work even if the bootloader is unlocked.
amonra recovery should install and work on this phone right ?
Currently I don't want to root or S-OFF the phone because I like to apply not too much modification on it.
Can you help me ?
Thanks for the attention, and even more if you can help
(*1) 1.33.0013 cannot be htcdev unlocked because it don't accept "fastboot oem get_identifier_token", that's why I updated to 1.33.0014G.
The update was given by htcdev.com through an RUU that didn't work because I started it from adp (phone started normally with usb debugging on) and for an unkown reason adp reboot bootloader didn't work, I made it work be starting RUU exe from fastboot directly.
I think my problem/solution may be related to the error : "remote: image type not support" when I try to flash recovery being in RUU mode.
From the official updates files (official ruu and fota) I've found that some images are not of the img format but the nb0 format. Maybe I need to flash an image that is of this format (nb0), the problem is that I have no idea how to find or convert amonra recovery image to this format...
If it is the problem, it is lame not to be able to flash img files ...
Also, one idea I had is that I have to flash files through an update.zip file rather than a single img. But it is a lot more complex to figure out (making a valid update.zip package)...
I'm quite lost and decieved about the HTC "unlock" (I think I'm not the first one to be) ... (And I don't want to brick my phone)
