Quick Point & Shoot : Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 4S - Galaxy S III General

I currently own and use both phones.
Decided to do a very quick point and shoot camera comparison. It's nothing professional, just a little reference.
Personally to me they both offer very similar results.:good:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jx96y4u1hluqr5q/RYmaNlI8zn/iPhone%204S%20%26%20Galaxy%20S3%20-%20Quick%20Camera%20Comparison

indeed...
some of the pics the 4s is better, and some the s3 is better.
probably half and half

I'd prefer iPhone in that regard, mainly because the screen turns on instantly when you press the power button. On the international version of SGS3, you press the power button and wait 1.5 seconds for the screen to come up. If you want to shoot something quickly, that's a huge disadvantage.

Turn off double-click home for S-Voice and the delay gets much shorter - at least, for me it did when I was on stock. Also, "1.5 seconds" is a pretty large exageration, no?

Sorry, but what has double click home has to do with power button????
1.5 seconds is not an exaggaration, it's actually between 1500 and 1600 ms. Watch this video review. The reviewer shows it at 24:40.

Needless to say, this makes SGS3 interational version a very poor choice if you want to quickly take pictures no matter how good image quality is. As a comparison, all HTC, Motorola, Sony, Apple phones wake up with power button instantly.

Not a clue, but it does actually speed it up, ive just done it. Go into S-Voice settings test for yourself.

That does happen when the phone is in deep sleep I think. But if you have been using it not long before unlocking it's much faster. For instance, locking / unlocking as I'm writing this is pretty much instant.

Mine has the 1.5sec lag aswell - even if it's on and I quickly press the power button twice. Screen turns off instantly, but takes awhile to wake up again. I'm using omega 13 and siyah 1.5.

A review from your average joe. DHD

This is my first android phone. I had the htc touch hd before but didn't flash or anything. I have to say android is great but does need some getting used to which is a fun element in its own aspect.
Desire HD is great !!!! When you heard it's fast, believe you think it's fast but you have no idea. It's instant...almost too fast for some people's liking...
I'm pretty sure you've read many reviews so i'll just cover main points.
First of all the back covers aren't that much of a hassle, i quite like that design with unibody design...although sure they could've used better plastic but it's not something you would care about.
The screen despite it being "normal LCD" is so amazing...it's so viabrant until i compared to sgs then i was like ehh...however watching images and movies...the sgs over did the colours and sharpness...Dhd just the perfect natural images. and oh yeah it's very very clear. AND BIG.
Battery i'm afraid isn't impressive...11 hours only but that may because it'd had all sync on's,everything on and heavy use since it's new...but 11 hours is still poor.
Now i'm not a photographer or anything but i thought the camera was great and the recording at 720p was amazing too but i'm not qualified to judge very accurately on that.
Now the speaker doesn't do this phone justice but don't get me wrong it's not that bad. I see people making it sound like it's hopeless..."I missed calls when the phone was next to me" ? is a complete lie...i have to say i heard the phone in the next room this morning while i was getting ready. It's "hearable" as in usable but it's still poor
but not deal breaker issues
Apart from that this is pretty much the perfect phone for a long time now...
unibody design with 4.3 inch screen? I don't think anything will match it very soon
I love this phone ...a bit too much...despite the bad battery life.
Android first timer as well.
So far, no regrets. A few complaints ( like the power button execution and the inadequate battery ) but nothing worth diminishing that grim on my face when I put on Avatar or Backbreaker in the gaps btw lectures at uni and immediately theres a crowd of 20 DHD-owner wannabes on my head. They say the best advertisement is making someth brilliant and lettin it speak for itself. Well those korean muffies it. Period ;]
my only regret is I cannot have 3g on my carrier (rogers)..... so I am in limbo right now.... so with no 3g and usb debugging on, the battery lasts me all day... I turn off wifi and gps when not in use.... if I decide to keep the phone, I will get another battery....
I also love the phone, but I am very disappointed in the camera and flash.... If I look at a yellow piece of paper through the phone, it looks white.... the screen and photos look washed.... but I do love the size. Wifi is so fast and smooth on this phone....
adding the otterbox case, makes the power button and volume rocker much more accessible....
Over all, a great phone.... but I do not know if I can make it without 3g
Hey good Review...liked u being very frank in the review. considering you are a first timer...this device is gonna keep u busy for atleast some time...as u pointed out...its gonna take some time of getting used to...but u won't regret the time spent learning this...
I don't want HTC to come back next month introducing a Duo core processor with the same screen size[4.3" is Just right] and better battery life with more RAM..Now i hate that
Until you've flashed a custom rom and oc kernel...only then can you say its fast hahaha...because trust me...stock is not that fast at all...

They will come out with duo core processors early 2011 ( but then again there's always delay on everything these days) secondally i heard it'll be useless...since you don't need that much processing power.
never the less it may be usefull with other features released in the future. They won't make a 4.3 inch duo core soon enough...might start off with a 3.7 then that uni body design won't be duplicated till ages.
A 3.7 dual core handset would be just great but I can't see it coming any time soon. The trend seems now to be more towards 4" plus. Still having the debate with myself whether the 4.3 inches of the dhd is just too much or whether the trade offs are worth it. Then of course there is the small matter of £500 if I want it in a reasonable timescale!

Lets just hope so...Considering this is the Best phone of the Current lot...i want it to stay so for some time atleast
A comment on the flush power button. I see many people complained (including myself) about the power button being hard to press and effort to reach since it's on top of the phone...you have to curve your finger around it kinda...if you get what i mean...I figured...since the headphone jack is on the bottom now ( it makes sense for wires to hang at the bottom when you hold it - personally i like the initiative..) hence you would put the phone upside down in your pocket and it'll easily press the power button in some cases...I think that may be the reason for flush power button...But since the volume keys are also flush...i guess there's a chance they've just messed it up...but never the less i found the power button useful in some aspect...
Hold the phone in 1 hand while pressing the power button in the other hand

Having some S III Issues...

Hey everyone,
So I have had my S III since Friday. Love the phone but having a few issues. I was hoping some of you may have some ideas...
1 - Icons in folders randomly rearrange themselves...?
2 - Smart Stay - Does ot work very well, playing games, reading etc... It turns off the screen??? I thought this was a selling point and it never works for me.
3 - Heat - phone get VERY warm, sometimes HOT.
4 - on the HOX I could change the volume from the lock screen, not on the S III am I missing a setting or is this not possible?
5 - Lock Screen, when i miss a text, a bubble pops up with a message in it and the number of texts i missed, is this available for missed emails using the gmail app or the mail app?
I'm comparing the HOX and the SIII for a few days before I make a final decision... Here is my pros/cons so far...
-Better Dev Support - Galaxy will always have better developer support - WINNER SIII
-Better Screen - One X has better screen - WINNER ONEX
-Build Quality - Both have been nice but X had Screen detachment issue (replacement has been fine) - WINNER TIE
-Button Placement - S III has better button placement (Power Button & capatitive buttons) - WINNER SIII
-Charge Port Placement - Port on One X is on the side, S III on bottom - WINNER ONEX
-Battery Life - So far One X has better battery life - ONEX
-Printer Support - S III will only print to Samsung printers - WINNER ONEX
-Lock Screen - One X has better productivity Lock Screen - WINNER ONEX
-Lock Screen Icons - S III has customizable lock screen icons - WINNER SIII
-Storage - S III has SD Card Slot - WINNER SIII
-Removable Battery - S III has a removeable battery - WINNER SIII
-Multitasking - S III multi-tasks correctly, One X does but is broken - WINNER SIII
-Camera - Cameras seem about the same - WINNER TIE
-Soft Button Placement - One X soft buttons in email app are on bottom and easier to reach - WINNER ONEX
Any help with the above issues would be really helpful.

1. To fix this press the menu button while inside of your apps folder and select View Type then Alphabetical Grid or List.
2. I have noticed this too. I think it is a feature that is not quite ready for prime time yet.
3. Mine does the same.
4. Not possible. I like this since I don't have to worry about accidentally changing the ringer volume while the phone is in my pocket or pouch.
5. I have not seen where this is available for email. I just rely on the icons in the notification area. It doesn't provide a count but it works well enough to let me know that I do have unread emails
5. I cant find it at the moment, but I know somewhere there was a spot where you could change the lock screen shortcuts. I know not much help but at least you know its there.
I stopped reading after you said the One X had better battery. There's no possible way. I've had my phone off charger for 26 hours and I'm at 25%. Multiple battery tests have concluded almost double the battery time of the One X.

Glad you stopped reading... Obviously you didn't understand where I was coming from. I said SO FAR, the One X's battery has been better. My phone is having a few issues with it's exchange sync etc... I think this is eating the battery. I will see over the next few days (Exchange issue is fixed) and update my little comparison sheet. My one X would get me through the day with between 25 and 50% left on it. My SIII was at 6% last night when I plugged it in...
hawkeye2188: I'm not looking to change the shortcuts, i'm looking for an unchecked email notification like the text bubble that comes up...

How is this a win for the ONEX? Nothing iritates me more than having HTC put the damn charging cable on the side where your hands are when using the phone.

I personally am not a fan of the charge port on the bottom. When I hold the HOX in my right hand (I'm right handed) my fingers are not in the way of the port or wire.
Also in the car the phone sits right side up in the cupholder with the wire plugged in. I don't have to keep the phone sitting upside down where I can't read if a message or email or whatever some in.

Where are the battery tests which show the Galaxy SIII has double the battery time of the One X? Here's a reputable review which shows that the One X lasts longer:

There are a lot of factors as to what can cause battery drain. I know the SIII has the larger battery but there is NO way it is lasting "double" the one x...I too would love to see these tests.

Smart stay works well in decent lighting and when the phone is perpendicular to your face. It still works decently with the phone at a slight angle, but the performance tapers off greatly when lighting conditions are poor. A combination of poor lighting and poor phone angle basically guarantees that it will not work.

Ok, I can understand your reasoning then. I always hold my phone with the left hand. And never use a cupholder in the car. I always have a mount.
But in your case i can see where your two gripes are very valid.

This has been my experience too. Works fine in daytime or brightly lit areas, but in dim rooms or at night it fails pretty much every time. Haven't noticed a difference with the angle.

Easily the best phone ive owned and I've had shedloads. Only issue is now I've had stereo speakers and decent low light camera I'm gonna be so picky with future upgrades.
Roll on HTC releasing a patch to remove the three dot menu and itll be perfect

^^^ this here is hoping the next HTC phone has stereo speakers aswell and the trend continues, as for camera I wonder what HTC are going to do next year.
I have 2 niggles
The power button is basically flush with the handset so sometimes can be a bit awkward to press
You can't map the back key as a menu key when you long press so you get that annoying black bar at the bottom
Other than that, perfect
brilliant phone
totally lag free which amazes me, specially when using blinkfeed.
I can see blinkfeed getting a bit boring after a while tbh.
Speakers are outstanding, havent had chance use camera too much, but what i have done amazes me
how quick it takes photos, literally can just keep pressing away and its instant!

OMG this phone....OMG
is surreal
the speakers are so good when my phone ringed in the bus this morning everyone just stopped whatever they were doing and turned towards me...and by god, the volume was less than half...
the display has such beautiful deep black and white it doesnt look like a screen but like a glossy magazine...
The menu 3dots button needs to disappear in a bug release patch hopefully as in some app (FB etc) takes over the screen and i dont like that
Battery well superior to HTC one x
Lagg - free
And the built....oh it feels like it was designed to be hold in hand...i dont even feel like keeping it in the pocket anymore
and by the way, i dont know ab SG4 for but this phone, will turn heads everywhere, people will be hypnotised by it
i had 4 strangers asking me: dude what phone is this, ive never seen anything like this before...also my friends are all now considering buying it
i know i sound like i was paid by HTC, but i wasnt, i hate HTC as a company but my god...this phone...this phone is not from this time, it is from the future:good:
Battery life does seem poor, although I won't really be able to judge until I do my commute on Monday, thats when I can judge it a bit better
Sound quality is amazing, both on speakers and headphones so ****ing loud i love it
Screen is nice.
Power button is recessed so quite difficult
TV remote is a great handy little addition
Camera seems okay, although i have issues, have tried doing sequence shot or always smiling keep getting errors, will try again tomorrow though , shutter speed is very good
Sense, it's lovely and clean but i just wish i could get rid of blink feed and make the grid 5x5
Call quality seems great, service and wifi signal are both excellent and no fluctuations whatsoever so really happy with that.
The messenger, people, music and camera apps all look lovely, htc have really stripped them down and taken on board googles design ethos

My HTC One review [Updated 21/3]

Sorry for the long post btw, but here is my review of the HTC One for those who are interested
Just going to add my review, I have had the phone since Friday afternoon and it is now Tuesday afternoon.
I am coming from a HTC Sensation which I’ve had since launch so it was being to feel old, battery get rubbish etc... I have had a HTC for the past 5 years, so yes I am a bit of a HTC fan boy, but I’ll try be as honest as possible. (I was quite willing to go to the s4 if they improved things but they didn’t)
Build quality and physical features:
Firstly like everyone has said, the build quality and feel of the phone is amazing! Better than the iPhone. It is light but it isn’t too light
If that makes sense, it heavy enough to make it feel premium. It looks gorgeous feels gorgeous and is gorgeous. I don’t find it slippery in my hand, however when it’s in your pocket because of its height and smooth back I do feel abit uneasy about it slipping out when you’re sitting down.
I think the size is perfect for me, but that’s personal preference. The volume buttons are nice, in the right place, feel good and easy to press. The
The micro usb is on the button , which is a plus for me to put into my android dock, but is much more to the right hand side, would of been nice for it to be more central but I’m being picky.
The power button is flush and smooth, and far to over the left hand device to me making it awkward if you have small hands (luckily I don’t) however I am totally used to it now so it doesn’t bother me anymore.
The button layout I actually love now I am used to it. Android phones only need 2 buttons, and long as you remember the double tap or hold down home shortcuts you will be fine. You get used to it way to quick, so much that I used my sensation the other day and kept pressing the wrong buttons on it.
Battery: (using auto brightness, power save off, WI fi on mostly.)
Ok so I wasn’t expecting much until I started reading the reviews of people saying it’s awesome. It isn’t awesome, it’s ok. Through a work day with light usage I get from 100% to about 80%, which is more than anyone else. Though saying that it seems most of my battery is trying to find mobile signal (I get crap signal for every network at work) so I’m trying to go aeroplane mode as no point searching for signal that isn’t there, I’ll keep you all updated on how this works out.
Then when I get home I whack out the games, do bit browsing, check Facebook, text all night etc… and it does drop quickly. Both nights I have gone from 80% to 0% in about 5/6 hours with heavy usage. Which tbf isn’t bad, but it’s not great.
Point to add, I’m still messing about with settings and apps, and I do find myself just turning my phone on to play with it , so I’m expecting the battery life to improve when I stop being a little kid . I have also drained it fully and fully charged it 4 times.
For example useage today, my brightness is at lowest it will go, wifi off, radio on, its been on for about 6 hours, about 30 mins screen on, and i have been playing music for about 10 minutes on full volume, my battery is at 79%.
Sense 5:
Very very nice, big improvement over 4 I feel. Nice and clean, simple to use and lots of nice little features, as well as some annoying ones.
I like the icons, I love the message app, it allows you to change theme of how the texts set out, so for example texts sent by you show up one colour, by the other person another, and then a different background. It’s just the little things like that that make a difference. Settings are similar to 4 so nothing to go on about there.
Blink feed is handy, but more a gimmick I feel, they need to greatly improve the sources because all I see at the minute is my Facebook newsfeed which annoys me slightly. But it has potential.
I like when you unlock the screen it goes to where you were last. And the lock screen is very nice and simple. It does annoy me how the preview texts come up though, at the bottom but only 2 lines of it, not like sense 4 when you got the bubble in the middle.
The thing that annoys me is with no menu button you can’t quickly change your wallpaper or go into settings etc... You have to drag down the notification bar and go to settings. When in an app and pressing home button, you go back to the app draw and not the home screen, that annoys me, but is useful every 1/10 times you press it! I would have also liked a quick settings bar but I have an app to do that anyway.
These are all little niggle bits which most of you won’t mind about, and can be resolved with rooting/little software tweaks by htc.
Screen:
Nothing more to say than amazing. Best screen I have seen on a smartphone hand down, viewing angles, colours etc... all brilliant. And the right size
Camera:
I haven’t had a massive play with the camera but what I have I have been impressed. There is virtually no shutter lag which is brilliant (big thing coming from sensation) you press the button it takes a picture, and keep pressing it, it keeps taking pictures. The quality in low light is amazing; you can just see on the screen how much light it is picking up.
The video quality is great and that extra microphone does make a difference to sound quality, there is a lack of bass however but it is crystal clear. Can also take pics while videoing which is handy?
The amount of options to edit your photo is ridiculous; I think I will need a year with the phone to work out all of them! Unsure whether this is a good thing or bad, after all if it’s there but not used, what’s the point? But it is nice you have the option.
Boom sound:
This is the one feature that is literally drawing dropping; the sound that comes out of this phone is amazing. Out of the people I’ve shown they have all been amazed and said wow that is so loud and clear for a phone. The need for those little crappy portable speakers is gone, it still can’t replace a good dock but it comes close.
This is also makes a huge difference when playing games and apps etc... the sound quality and loudness makes it just that much more enjoyable!
Although please note, you will never miss an alarm again! They do need to lower the volume a bit to compensate for the loudness, as stupid as that sounds.
Other:
The processor is amazing and lag free. However it does heat up, not as much as my sensation does when put under heavy load, but it’s noticeable. Plus side is it will make a lovely hand warmer in those cold months, downside I’m guessing the heat with affect battery life.
HTC ONE Vs. Sony Xperia Z
Luckily my brother decided to buy the sony xz the day before I got my one, and I got the chance to compare the phones (sorry no pics or videos didn’t have the time)
I have to say the htc one was better, in my opinion in most ways, it felt better, looked better, nicer screen, better viewing angles, better camera (only tested at a restaurant in low light though).
The only thing I prefer about the sony was the fact the power button was on the side, which made it very easy to press.
Closing thoughts:
The HTC One is no doubt the best phone on the market at the minute in my opinion. It has pretty much everything you want from a phone. It can be improved, of course it can, but HTC are onto a winner here. Everybody who has seen/heard it has said wow that is a nice phone, how much is that etc… Obviously we can’t compare it fully to the s4 yet, which will be its biggest rival, but I think the 2 phones will have different audiences. The question is, will this phone withstand the test of time with key lime pie looking to be released and maybe a nexus 5, we will see!
Please leave your opinions/comments, but note this is my personal view but I welcome a healthy debate on the subject! I hope this helps those who are looking at buying this phone.
UPDATE 21/3
Ok some now ive had the phone nearly a week i have some things to add.
Firstly anybody worrying about the notification LED, dont , it is bar far brightest i have had on any phone (including htc sensation and desire) it might be smaller but it is noticeable, when charging it obviously isnt on full brightness, but when you get a notification its easily see able.
2ndly the battery: I was having play and found i was get some wakelock issues from google maps and fb. I turned off google now and have seen a massive improvement in battery life.
Currently today im on 65% , phone has been on for 13 hours, about hour of screen on time. about 30 mins of playing real racing, tiny bit of checking wi fi etc.. Before i would on about 30% . Therefore my opinion has greatly improved over the battery. Can last me 2 days if i really want it too.
On a side note, i am getting my phone exchanged at end of march due to gap (see the thread on gap issue if you want more info) but i am truely happy with this phone now the battery has improved, and im getting used to doing things slightly different way.
Re: My HTC One review
Nice review. Thx
Ur review about the battery is more reliable to me than those who States 6hours sceen on. 6hours for me is only possible if u just leave the phone on desk with screen on untouched lol.
One question. Can you make a call to someone using speaker and see if the other side Can hear u well?
Also any scratches yet? Is it ez to get scratched?
Thanks

Yer i am questioning some of the people who are saying battery is so good, i have always been light on my battery and it is not lasting
as long as my htc sensation. Im trying different things with it atm to see if i can make it last longer, but i mean it still lasts a full day, just about though.
I have been on the phone to a few people and they say the speaker phone is good, not amazing or the best they have heard, but good.
While not on speaker phone people have said its really clear and very little background noise.
No scratches at all yet, ive had no case on it or anything but not a thing, its looks as good as it did on the first day.
The back doesn't smudge at all, and the screen just wipes clear on your shirt.
I hope you have some sunshine to try the screen under direct sunlight
How do you feel the weight of the phone in hand compared to Sensation?
GPS lock is faster too?

We had some the other morning , not alot mind you and i didnt have any problems with viewing the screen, only half brightness, but it wasnt particularly sunny!
GPS lock is much faster than sensation, used to take about 30 seconds on sensation, takes about 5/10 on the one.
Weight wise its feels lighter than the sensation, i have to say as silly as it sounds i think htc have got the weight spot on.
Light enough to hold in and watch film etc.. not too light to feel cheap.
Fair review, nice to read a 'real users' thoughts on the battery, I can only see good things coming for this handset.
I honestly think it'll do the the SGS4 what the SGS3 did to the HTC One X, steal all of it's limelight!

I don't know if this is a subliminal message towards my post but whatever. At the end of today it will be two days with the phone. I am noticing that battery life is decent. Not as great as I was hoping it to be, however yesterday I did use the phone really heavily as I had a day off. Unplugged at 100% battery 11am and it was at like 3% come 9pm. That's pretty good but I was hoping it would last at least another hour or two hours. I did have to put it on power saver mode at 20% so that's a thing to note. As I get used to the phone and it goes through a couple of charges I think I will really be able to tell properly but for now, that is all.

Thanks for the interessting Review !:good:
Thanks for the review. It's always better to hear from the end user instead of web reviews alone. Gives a more balanced opinion. One quest if possible. Any chance you could record loud music maybe from hi Fi or music channel or club to see how sensitive the mic is. You don't have to upload to YouTube. Or if anyone else could test. My One X and Sensation were really poor even though HTC boasted about stereo mic
Once again thanks.

Ive recorded sound coming from my bose sound system and it is very good. Better than any smartphone i have heard, it does restrict the bass abit , but you get clear audio so the sacrifice is worth it.
Im updating original as well since i have a few to add about the battery.

nope, sometimes you have to press the back or home button twice but i think down to just missing the exact spot.
But not having the problems some others have described

The predictive text input is fecking horrendous........only thing I found wrong with the phone....
I think the back and home button issue is down to the small footprint of the actual buttons, i reckon people expect to just be able to hit around the area of the button for it to work when in fact it needs to be more precise.
Good or bad?......up to the user, i think good.

So you're returning it for the gap issue?
This worries me. When I had a Desire HD, the speaker blew. I had to give my phone to Telus so they could send it to HTC to have it repaired. They sent it back and it wasn't fixed at all, so back it went. I had to use an HTC Hero for a month.
When I had my iPhone, I just walked into the apple store and they gave me a new one.
I'm worried I am waiting all this time and I'll get a gapped phone, or what have you.

I thought I saw in a review that the keyboard was way better than any previous HTC phone. It wasn't bad at all on my HTC Desire HD. How bad could it be now?!

I cant comment on the keyboard as i just installed swift key as i used it on my own phone and cant go wrong with it.
Yup getting it exchanged, but tbf most people seem to have a gap, so im hoping just because its the first batch, and things will improve.
But yer im not worried about the gap now, but to me it what can happen in 6 months time, with use etc.. it will probably expand and
cause problems, so best to get it sorted now.
I did send a pic to htc and they told me to get it exchanged.

[Review/Rant] What HTC did wrong

Before I get booed by the HTC One commiunity kindly be informed that I have been a proud owner of HTC One since it launched in my region, the flaws I am about to mention are nothing but mere observations that I think HTC should have paid a bit more attention to.
The lack of battery percentage
Why no native battery percentage out of the box (Yes I know its an android phone and there are plenty of apps that could replicate the function) but, we al know that its not hard to add and for the life of me I just can't understand why it was not include it in the official ROM.
LED
SIZE does matter, I think the notification LED is small and weak, its not very visible from not a very far distance. Not multicolored which I find annoying but it wouldn't have mattered really since it barely visible. Last but least I tend to charge my phone a lot it glows orange which is cool but it doesn't blink when you get a text or a missed call (at least this one is fixable).
Weak haptic feedback
I always turn haptic feedback off, but with the HTC One I have been having some issues with the buttons sensitivity so I have decided to keep it on since it makes it a lot easier to figure out if you touched the actual button or not. Sadly, the haptic feedback is weak any simple comparison between the HTC One ( the silver One is freaking sexy... had to be said somewhere in this stupid rant) and any other phone would easily prove that.
Power button placement
Need I talk about this? I know its probably due to internal hardware alignment but I have to mention that the power button placement is just not user friendly at all.
Man I feel better, thanks for listening guys.

Didn't they fix the battery percentage with today's update? I do agree with the power button placement, that is bad. For haptic feedback no idea since I never use it and led is good enough for me.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
4.2.2 adds the battery percentage natively. Using ARHD right now for 4.2.2. I have no issues with the notification LED. It's bright enough for me and having 2 colors only isn't an issue since it does what I want it to do. The hepatic feedback is a bit weak but I like it since I can still feel it a bit but it isn't so high that it's annoying. Could be just a bit higher though. I prefer it to be lower rather than overly high. Also I love the placement of the power button. I think power buttons that are on the side of the device just look stupid. Functionality is nice I guess but no way do I want it on the side. I have no problems reaching it and I think it looks better. If it's that big an issue custom roms add volume buttons to wake.

I think my only issue is power button placement .
i'd love an RGB led lasting longer than 5 minutes
install swipe home from Google play..makes htc logo feel like a button .you can customize it to your likings too...lemme know if I helped

Well the percentage option is coming.
The LED should have been multicolored. As far as brightness I kind of appreciate that it is not as bright and large as the one on my GS3 though.
Wish the Haptic Feedback was customizable as well. Maybe a future update can add that feature.
Power button placement blows my mind as well. Not sure why they have been so stubborn about this. I dont mind much but can't imagine how folks with smaller hands deal.

Lack of battery percentage? Find an app on the play store and done. Plus its coming in 4.2.2 ( in fact you can flash ARHD 10.0 and voila).
LED? Do you need to see your notification from Jupiter? The LED is strong and you cant miss it.
Weak haptic feedback? Get over it.
Power button placement? Ok you're right, its awful.
about battery percentage I mentioned in my post that a LOT of apps could replicate the function but I think HTC should have included it in the final product.
LED nope I don't think it's strong enough,it's a matter of personal preference I guess.
As for haptic feedback these devices go under testing for at least a couple of months before release, you would think that someone would notice that is freaking weak, I am just seeking the perfect phone man you know ?
And the powe button... Just the worst placment ever it looks nice but functionality wise is just not all that.

I'm loving my HTC One. My only real gripe is the unresponsive back and home keys. I don't mind the led colors or where the power button is. As I mentioned in another posting, I hope my provider updates the firmware shortly to fix that problem.

Battery % - Is coming with 4.2.2. Just wait for it.....
LED - Multicolor is preferred, but does it really that matters to you since you will be checking what's new anyways? I do agree that the LED should blink or change to green when something new happened during charging.
Haptic feedback - Stronger feedback means more power consumption. Are you using it as a vibrator? I find the call vibrations are pretty good though.
Power button - Well true. Is kinda hard to reach and difficult for making screen shots. Just a matter of getting used to it.
All brands have their individual faults. As long as these cons do not affect my daily usages alot, I'm fine with them.
This is just a guess....but does anyone think they put the power button on the top due to it acting as the IR as well? Might have something to do with it?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
My list:
1) Missing recents capacitive button. I loved it on my nexus 4, don't see why they axed it, considering it was on the One S.
2) Autobrightness is a bit higher than normal. If they were smart they would have set it at or lower than the Galaxy S3 so that battery life would be better. Setting an average brightness that is higher than your competitors just makes for more cannon fodder when people are comparing battery stats.
3) I'd prefer the camera to take a few extra ms to make sure the image is focused, rather than shoot 0.00001 faster and end up with a blurry image.
4) Add a widget for beats. Going into the settings to toggle it on and off is a PITA.
5) Attempting to reinvent the wheel with how the launcher works. If it ain't broke, don't start trying to change things. It'll only confuse new AND old users (hell if the average android fan doesn't understand how the dock works then how do you expect a newcomer to android to understand?)
But realistically, all these are nitpicking. Overall the phone is great and I'm very happy with how it runs now.

When I went from Desire to SGS2 it took me a while to get used to power button on the side and I was annoyed by the fact Samsung put it on the side. And when I went from SGS2 to HOX it took me a while to get used to button on top again. You will get used to it, it'snot hard to reach and the power button now is the IR transmitter, so they mananged to stylishly hide that

I like the screen bright but what having a One has done it that it makes all other screens look dull, dim and too warm/yellow in comparison, even my HOX!
