Hi all, as far as the ROM threads are clearly marked for a u8800-51 the threads are OK in this section. Now back on topic please.

Looks great! I'm about to try. Thank you!

I've tried to install this ROM many times and failed it seems. I've backed everything up (just in case it didn't work), ran a factory reset, wiped battery stats dalvik cache and formatted /system, then proceeded to install this. I used the CWM you stated in the post and tried a few other versions. Phone is just stuck on the boot screen, and keeps resetting. =/

The AT&T Impulse 4G (u8800-51). I did however, get the CM7 mod to work after installing on top of this rom. Only issue is I cannot seem to add my google account to it, and the cyanogenmod settings in the settings menu does not work (force close).

I never tested cm. Go back to 2.2 and flash this one

I'll try it again, but how long should I wait during the boot screen resetting? I waited almost an hour the last few times I tried to install.

Try the original workaround. This is an older version than this ROM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1698308

When I try to restore my IMEI, 5irom says there's no backup. Imeibackup folder is there and there are two files, 10 and 11.

(Q) I'm stuck?

Ok so awhile back I downloaded and installed a leaked 2.2 version for the epic and its been ok just tired of it, but now when trying to go to a different rom nothing works, clockwork has always givin me some issues on this phone an on m old one that got replaced for bad proximity sensors.
What am I doing wrong? I tried the rom manager method of getting clockwork's mod to work but nothing, tried re flashing the recovory image and that failed for some read only issue now that I've never seen before and is clockworks mod supposed to stick cause the one time I got it to work so I could install this rom (which sucks) after I was it never worked again? This is just really annoying for me since I never have had issues in the past with rom installed htc was easier the g1 and hero where do damn easy what is with this epic crap not doing what I want it to do?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Have you tried the one click method for root and clockwork? You need to have the samsung drivers installed and you have to get another usb cable. The one that comes with the epic is only good for charging.
Sent from my Epic running Viper Rom 3.0.3
Yea I've tried that and sometimes it works andsometimes it fails, last night I was failing saying "read-only file system" and would not finish the img flash.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
It is very easy to install ROM's on the Epic... So i'm thinking you're doing something wrong.
Are you sure you have clockwork installed and NOT stock? Back when I first started working with the Epic (Rooting & Flashing) I had problems figuring out what clockwork really was.. Clockwork is GREEN & Stock is BLUE.
Also another thing I did was unrooted and then rooted using the latest One Click Root W/ Clockwork, after that everything seemed to work fine. IF I am correct, the ROM Manager Clockwork does not work for the Epic? Well at least it never worked for mine.

Try going to adb and type this: adb shell. Once the shell pops up enter "su" and then this command: mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/stl9 /system
If you get an error, you aren't rooted.
Or alternatively, adb shell mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/stl9 /system

Lol kk so this should work then ill try when I get home.
Is clockwork suppsed to stick though? So that ny time I boot into recovery it should be there, that's wat I thought should happen with changing the recovery image but it never stuck and won't load.
If that command doesn't change anything ill take a video and show what happpens when trying to chage the rom's, I can't be the only person having the problem.....
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
tried that command say's premissions denied?? I have super users permissions and have a custom rom wtf is going on here? this just does not make sense to me any more at all, tried to run the root file again on the phone and that failed saying its a read only file system?
also tried to run a "unroot.batch" file and same issue says that its a read only file system??

Does the su command work? If not then agan, you aren't rooted. You will know because the $ sign will change to #. Try running the one click root method again, specifically the 2.5 version that contains root and cwm. I don't understand how you can't be rooted though with a custom ROM. Somehow something isn't working, maybe the mount script is corrupt but who knows. I suggest odin back to stock DK28 and root and cwm from there with the newest one-click. Let me know if that helps, also feel free to pm me if you need specifics

Try re-downloading the 2.5.5 one click root. May have modified a file accidentally or something. Also; if you're on a desktop.. plug the cord into the back not the front panel of the pc.
The stock cables do work for data.. unless it got damaged somehow.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
No the stock cable should work for data but usually doesn't. 99% of people who have been having issues rooting, their problem has been the stock cable. It is crap.

Thomas an I got it to work last night tried a lot of things and then it randomy worked with the 2.5.5 and CWM is sticking now, yea I'm going to buy another cable seems like it probably could be causing some issues. Hi the ROM has nothing to do about it maybe i think could be a problem with the clockwork mode version but everybody should have it updated.
There is a file with .Md5 extension that is in charge of the only 1 validation of the original file(.img files), if any of these files has been corrupted then the validation will fail.
MD5 data is created by a algorithm that examines the original file and creates a short(-ish) checksum data string out of the original file's characteristics
And the validation of what im saying is that we can go back to past ROMS with any problem
Greetings!

I dunno. It might work. But as I said before, I have found that you need to use Tenfar's ClockWork Mod Recovery to flash this. I tried it with the one that comes with ROM Manager, and it didn't work. If you are going to try to wipe with fastboot, also try putting tenfar's CWM on, and then re-flash.

I've been waiting for this new recovery to come out ever since I got my Kindle Fire(we're a bit limited with only 1 physical button). This was just released a few minutes ago, but it's been in development for a year or so.
I have no affiliation with the team, but I thought others would be interested in trying this out. Luckily, the Atrix was included in the initial wave of supported devices. More pics below.
Video of it in action on a tablet. It really shows the potential for an XML-based recovery. Could mean some very nice ROM installs among other things.
TWRP 2.0 for Motorola Atrix 4G
TWRP 2.0 General Info
Themers, keep your eye on this page. Atrix is not listed, yet.
Install instructions with fastboot:
1. Place twrp-olympus-2.0.0RC0.img in fastboot folder.
2. Open command prompt and cd to directory from step 1
3. Put phone in fastboot mode and connect to computer.
4. fastboot devices
5. fastboot erase recovery
6. fastboot flash recovery twrp-olympus-2.0.0RC0.img
7. fastboot reboot
Note to CM7 users: It doesn't look like the internal storage naming (/emmc) used by CM7 is supported yet, so you will be limited to just using /sdcard.

Sorry, I wasn't sure if I should post it there since I wasn't the one to develop it. Mods, please feel free to move. Thanks.
Just flashed to my CM7 atrix, and tried flashing a .zip (radio update) and seemed to work just fine! Touchscreen recovery, the way it should be!
Just flashed it to mine, and I have to say its quite impressive. Methinks my volume buttons are going to see a lot less wear on them now.
Only issue is that it doesnt look like you can backup/restore your PDS partition, but thats not something you need to mess with often so you could probably just flash another recovery temporarily if needed.

Only issue is that it doesnt look like you can backup/restore your PDS partition, but thats not something you need to mess with often so you could probably just flash another recovery temporarily if needed.

I'm jealous! I can't flash it yet cuz I'm not at home.
The development has been pretty quick on this. I'm sure if it's not in there currently, it will be at some point.
I flashed it but couldn't install anything it gave me errors saying it couldn't read the SD cards and I couldn't see any of my files.

What ROM are you on currently? I'm on CM7 so I'm wondering if sdcard naming might be an issue for non-blur roms. I just wanted to prepare myself for possible issues once I get it flashed.

I'm on cm7 as well. I'm thinking the problem lies in the previous recovery image I had, I was using cwm prior to flashing this. Wonder if I wiped recovery in fastboot prior to flashing the new recovery if that'd fix it.

I am using CM7 Weekly 3, and i switched from RomRacers recovery. I used the fastboot erase recovery prior to flashing this, and it doesnt seem to have any problems in the limited testing I have done with it. In the log at the bottom of the screen it says error mounting sd-ext but it is able to flash .zip files from it, so...
Will try again tomorrow. I gotta hit the sack. Amazing job tho by the devs on this. Truly revolutionary work. Night all.

Is it at all possible to make it into a flashable zip? I won't be at a PC that can fast boot for some time.

Ok, this is the first CWM zip I've ever tried putting together so please let me know if you have any problems. I took an existing .zip and edited the updater script. I just tried it coming from romracer's CWM, and it worked for me.
If it works for others I will add it to the OP. Happy flashing!
*Edit*
Btw, when using TWRP I tried to reboot into bootloader but it seemed to put me in fastboot mode. Just wanted to put that out there in case others get stuck on "Unlocked" screen.
I can't get this to work so frustrating. I flash with fastboot, it boots into recovery. Its a great touch screen interface. But there are no files populating. I can click the bottom middle button and see a bunch or errors about being able to mount my SD card and such. What step am I missing here.

So when you tap on "Install" it doesn't take you to the root of your external sdcard? For me, that is the only directory I have access to at the moment since I'm on CM7. All of the actions are defaulting to /sdcard.
What boxes are checked for you when you go into "Mount"? I was unable to check sdcard-ext from there, but everything else was selectable.

no it should not
Only boxes checked for mount are cache. I can't mount sd card or anything else. When I click install it takes me to the main / root folder. I can go to whatever folder I want but nothing shows up.

Status 7 usually relates to a recovery error. Not an actual error due to the flash.
Have you tried installing the newest recovery?
I recommend twrp:
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/grouper
Download the newest one.
Which is openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-grouper.img
Then reboot to bootloader:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-grouper.img
Reboot to recovery and try to re-flash.
PS - If this doesn't work, re-download what your flashing, as once you've updated your recovery, the only other thing that relates to "Status 7" errors are a bad script/zip being flashed.

100% wrong. Stop giving people bad advice.
Did you actually look at the error message? It's right in front of you!
The trouble is that /system/app/BrowserProviderProxy.odex was either altered or removed. Installing a different recovery isn't going to change that!
I needed stock browser (bad google!) please help me out. I know I sound desperate but I can't even download from play store anymore .

If you saw a status 7 error message, the OTA install altered nothing. Read that again - it did nothing. The OTA installer performs literally hundreds of individual checks before it begins, and if any one of them fails, it stops immediately ... with a Status 7 error.
That means not only that it did nothing, but also there could be more altered files present that it has yet to discover a problem with. ( Could be zero or more )
None of this changes the fact that OTAs are for use with 100% pure stock ROMs and stock recovery. PERIOD
If your ROM is now boot looping, I suppose that is because of something you have done since your OP - and yet you failed to mention it.
Restore your ROM from a Nandroid backup and do a little more reading.
PS If I recall correctly, the OTA installer also performs a checksum on the boot partition - so even if you fix up all changed files in /system, the OTA is still going to abort (without making any changes) as you indicated you had a custom kernel installed.

I didn't boot loop, it just took ten minutes, I'm running Franco with stock ROM.

So you're on 4.2.1 wanting to manually update to 4.2.2, but you're getting an Error 7 due to a stock file (.odex) missing, and running a custom kernel.
If that's the case, you CANNOT do what you are trying to do here, as you are getting errors due to files missing, and if you were to fix that, you'll get an error due to the kernel being custom.
You'll either need to do one of two things:
Download a 4.2.2 custom ROM, flash it in recovery. This means re-setting up everything (downloading apps, setting them up, etc). Easier of the two methods.
Flash the official Google images to get back to 100% stock 4.2.2 (via fastboot command is recommended, others may use a toolkit of some type). Again, you'll loose all information on the internal sd card (pictures, music, etc) and apps with app data. More advanced of the two methods.

Bear in mind that a "factory reset" only restores things back to "as the device came from the factory" for devices that were never rooted.
It only erases /data and /cache - that is all. If you've put cruft into, or deleted files from /system (system partition), installed a custom kernel (boot partition), or installed a custom recovery (recovery partition), all of that will remain the same after the "factory reset".
You could try over flashing a 4.2.2 ROM without performing a wipe first and see if you are happy with the result - but for dog's sake make a full Android backup before you begin! You can't recover from mistakes without a backup.
I'm really a complete tool at android, if you can give more detailed information, you'd be an angel.

As previously stated, yes, that is exactly why. It also will not work with a custom kernel (which you said you installed Franco's).
But how would i be able to fix Google play..?

Have you tried going into Settings - Apps - under the All heading - selecting both Google Play Store and Google Play Services, clearing both of their cache/data and Force Stopping them, then trying to open Google Play again?
Can you not download anything with Google Play, or ?
Nope it doesn't work after I flashed.
