I might be bit out of touch here, so please do correct me. How on earth can someone find the answer to a function like that with 3 unknown variables? is it possible that it's a well known equation in physics that I am not aware of? I just can't think it's possible to find a answer just from there without any knowledge of relationship between these unknown variables.
I believe that Note's function is to understand what the user wrote. It did so, but wolframalpha couldn't solve the equation. This is expected in my view.
If I am right, it means that the Nilay Patel is trying too hard to legitimize his review of Note 10.1

Lol It's been pointed out that he had his tablet on Power-Saver mode during the review. Who does that?
There's no answer for that obviously, it's just reduced if possible, which in this case is not. If there was any error it would be in Mathematica and the huge server farm they are using, which REALLY would be something

How thorough is Android factory reset's data clear/wipe?
Hey, Android gurus.
I love my GNote. I am getting ready to sell my Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet. I've done the factory reset on it, but am wondering if that is considered an effective tool for removing data from the internal hard drive. Could someone easily resurrect my data if the factory reset is all I've done to clear it?
Thanks for insights.

Was using the Note in the sun and it got me thinking. First, I wondered how long till amoled is used in the 10 inch tablets. Then, because of the reflection i thought, wouldn't it be great if they could produce a display that could double as a solar panel. Think about if the pixels could absorb the whole spectrum and just reflect the color that was needed for displaying the image on the screen. No glare and phenomenal power consumption. I'm know it's crazy, and maybe its maine's sweet greenery talking, but one can dream.

Thanks for the link. Interesting read so far. I'm not done with the Blog.
I'm just wondering though. It says that the camera will be used to calcullate certain activities (which may include gestures such as shake, twist, etc.) instead of using gyroscopes and accelerometers.
While it is too early to tell, it seems that this approach (already attempted with current devices in field) would have a negative impact on battery drain since the camera would have to be "always on" in order to comprehend your movements.
Secondly, what if someone came up with a camera hack? Could you imagine having your camera phone hacked and just being on all the time, displaying your personal life to some freak? I don't know if that is possible or not, but, it would be kinda scarry for me.
The article contradicts itself in a few areas; such as saying scroll bars will be done away with, then later stating that the scroll bars can be dynamically resized. LOL.
Still, it's fun for me to read about forthcoming technology - vaporware or not.

In theory, yes. It will most likely not need different hardware than it needs today.
From the looks of it, WM7 will be a lot more powerful that WM6 and require a lot more processing power. I'm sure there are a few HTC devices which will be able to run it, but I don't think I waoul want to run it on my Touch since it can barely handle WM6.
I don't think there's been any official announcement about the date of release, but end of 2008 or beginning of 2009 sound like the right time frame for Microsoft to roll this out. http://htcsource.com
Hi,
Can someone port the STock tab to Diamond? Is it possible?
Doesn't this belong under "Diamond ROM Development"? Good idea, though, although I don't think it's possible... yet anyway
If someone creates a similar tab in functionality, then it belongs here, not in ROM development.
sounds good, hope someone can do it

Seriously, what are you talking about? You obviously have no clue in history, especially, in this case, what the Great Depression (which originated in the USA) did to Europe.
There's nothing wrong with stating the obvious truth. If I made you uncomfortable because you choose to close your eyes instead of seeing the truth, well that's your problem.
This is not a forum for political comments.
BUT since you people started, it is AT LEAST lame to believe that US is what balances the planet. US can very well be what distracts the balance from time to time.

Yes, Hitler rose to power ONLY because of the Depression...
Of course he didn't. Massive oversimplification. It may have helped, but certainly wasn't the only, or probably even the main reason.
Also, yes the US has a massive bearing on the world at the moment, but China and Japan have grown in power massively recently, and with the world not in a state of post-War rebuilding, the situation is totally different.
I too would like a stock tab by the way.
OK everyone settle down. Let's focus. We all want this stock tab.
Currently, I'm writing my own local html files with links to http://stockcharts.com/avantgo/ charts.
I have been using this work-around for almost three years now and I'm really quite sick of it. I myself am willing to contribute monetarily towards porting this stock tab.
Is there no slight possibility HTC will bring it to the Diamond and Raphael in a subsequent ROM release?
sure there is
I expect the sliding dialer too
Looking at pictures, I see above the transparent strip there are some dots and then the screen starts. Can someone who's seen this phone outside tell if the bottom bezel feels too wide. This can make it very uncomfortable for the thumb as it has to stretch all the time to even get to most used apps on launcher.
It could get even worse with ICS update as ICS wastes another small strip of the bottom screen for the soft buttons plus getting to the top of the screen will get even harder if bezel is wider at the bottom. Already, ICS stock browser sucks as you have to stretch your fingers couple of time to just hit refresh page.
One thing that p**#@#* me off about most android phones is all manufacturers stopped thinking about the ergonomics of design. One of the main reason I love Arc is how short the bezel is at the bottom making the phone very comfortable on thumb.

I actually find Arc's bottom bezel too narrow. I keep archiving Gmail messages accidentally!!
That's personal preference of course.
So, my suggestion is, calm down, and wait for the phone to be released, head to a local shop that has it demonstrated and hold it yourself to see if it suits you. Also, SE will probably not use the on-screen buttons since their devices have physical buttons.
Last but not least, there are already a few threads here regarding the 2012 devices, so you should have posted your concern there and not start yet another thread.

The alpha ICS ROM that SE published here doesn't include on-screen buttons. So I am pretty sure that this will be the case for the final version too.
Also events if SE decides to read through xda forums for feedback, it would still be better if it were to be found in one place instead of numerous threads.
And that's more of a practical issue than an opinion.

Even I felt the bottom bessel looks kinda wide in xperia s ( if the portion above that transparent bar was all screen , it would have been nice ) .

There should be enough batter left at the end of the day for some fish and chips.
Well spotted!
The thing that annoys the most with this phone is the Norwegian translations, especially the info screens. Now, I work as a proof reader and translator, so it might tick me off more than anyone, but a monkey with Google translate could have done it better. It's horrendous. Can't believe how that slipped through.

While these are pretty small and insignificant things, I definitely feel manufacturers should pay more attention to things like translations and typos.
I can guarantee that when you buy an Apple (for example) device, everything has been translated with greater care and attention to detail, and also I would be very surprised to find typos in the Macbook Pro documentation, for example.
Of course everyone makes mistakes, I'm sure Apple has as well. But I mean that all these little things work together, it all matters, and details are indeed important. This is something that a manufacturer like Apple seems to understand, while many others don't.
I agree with the above. So many underestimate the effect correct use of language has. Not only does it make the sender look unprofessional and not very serious, but the whole notion of downgrading the importance of the tool upon which the whole concept of communicating with any media is built, is just absurd.

Correct me if I am wrong, I am not a native speaker of the English language, but I still think it should be "It will not affect normal usage" instead of "It will not effect normal usage". I'm sure native speakers will corroborate!

Couldn't agree with you more there. Although I'm not a great fan of Apple products, I do appreciate their attention to detail. I just feel as though they care about the user experience a little bit more than, say, Samsung etc. That being said I'm not particularly complaining about the Galaxy Note 2. So far I've found it absolutely brilliant...so brilliant, in fact, I'm willing to overlook small niggles like these. But hey, I was just curious....

Actually "Color" is american and "colour" is british based.
And I agree with the previous post that apple are some perfectionist mother-efers. In weird areas tho; dont know if the absence of those details would have hinder in their success. For intance, apple has a subsidiary that does all the packaging, and the package material, presentation and methodology passes thru the usual Apple QC tests.

It's just my opinion, and no, I doubt I could do any better, but that's why you won't see any art from me. I guess it's just the use of a common (and ugly) font like Times New Roman makes it look very unpolished. I like the use of color, but I personally find that boot screen to be quite ugly. I guess I shouldn't have been so rude in how I said it, so I apologize, but why threaten to not do any more just because of one person's remarks when you could instead use the criticism to improve your work. I guess I'm just spoiled by the work I've seen on other devices.

pacattack is back!!miss you bro(from htc evo)
...and exactly how does seeing it running change what I've said? Like cars10k said, it doesn't change the font, and in the end that's really what makes it look so amateurish. Also I can't install it as I'm not keen on voiding my warranty just yet only to get root. Perhaps an animated GIF would enlighten us, if you're so convinced that seeing it in motion will make any difference.
I guess just let me start over... nice boot animation, especially those wild colors, but you might want to think about changing the font to something more appealing than a font we've all been staring at for the last 22 years... it gives it a rather generic look.
There, that's a bit more constructive, and again, I apologize for being a douche... to me it honestly does look like how I described it originally, but I should have been more respectful in how I said that.
Thanks for your efforts Pacattack and thanks for taking the time to share it with everybody. Keep up the good work, your way, your style.
