I absolutely love my Nexus 7 and even though it' one of the C60k models that are supposed to have defects I have yet to experience one of the known issues. However, recently I made the mistake of trying to flash a custom ROM. I used Mskips Nexus 7 toolkit to root and then proceeded to install TWRP 2.2.1 since I have read there have been problems with some of the other recoveries. I was getting GREAT battery life off of the stock ROM but now since I installed the EOS rom my battery life has been dropping over 5% an hour. I am NOT blaming the ROM for this problem I'm just curious as to what could be causing this. Could it be a bad flash? If so, What are some method's I could try to restore my tablet or to fix this problem? Any tips/tricks would be greatly appreciated! I've tried reading up as best as I could before I asked but I still haven't gotten anywhere.
If I ever do get this resolved what would be the best ROM / Kernel setup to use or would it be best to wait till development increases a bit and we get some stable builds such as Rasbean?
Thank you in advance to the many great members here at XDA.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

It's very common for battery life to change when you change roms. Different roms manage things in different ways.
Try doing a factory reset and flashing the stock rom and see if the issue is still there. If not, reflash the rom before installing anything else.

It seems to have improved since reverting to stock but does this battery life seem to be normal? It also appears that my WiFi stays on all the time.
Thank you for your reply!

you will notice a difference in battery drain if you change kernels. The stock kernel is great with battery life, so thats why I kept it. I'm using a custom ROM (Paranoid Android) and i dont notice any difference in battery life vs stock

So I found NoFrills-AOSP and I downloaded it and so far its pretty nice, but there is like nothing about it anywhere. It looks like the guy took CM7 ripped the CM settings out and added the default launcher which honestly I dont mind at all because its pretty much perfect so far. I really just want to know who made it and to tell them thanks and that it would be great if they started a xda post for it because its an awesome rom.
found a thread on it. http://www.simply-android.com/discu...or-samsung-galaxy-s-vibrant-t959-082720011/p1
Awesome thanks!
The guy is Ngiordano.
He actually started work on CM7 for the Motorola Cliq.
The guy is awesome, anything he does is worth looking at.
And no im not one of his fanboys, i actually worked with him on building CM7 with him for a little
How's the battery life so far?

I have been at work all day so I only broke the phone out once during lunch so it has been going 19 hours so far with 65% battery left. So ya its pretty rockin on standby at least. Also extra sd card does not work which is kinda annoying and if anyone knows how to fix it please let me know!
holy hell, this thing is nice.
EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Just an AOSP 2.3.5 build for our phone.
This ROM has the GB bootloader/emmc mounting problem. Any word on if the dev is going to include the CM7 fix?
He said he's going to look into the problem today.

The camera needs some work.
If you have an FFC (like I do), to enable it don't forget to download the latest galaxysmtd build here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=galaxysmtd
pull out /system/lib/libcamera.so
and then copy over the libcamera.so file as here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14464862&postcount=3365
Right now i'm seeing banding in the HD video and 4 of me in the FFC, but that seems to be the same problems going on in the CM7 thread, so who knows if/when that'll get fixed.
I heard 135 hours on the battery life
^ you heard bull****.
also screenshots please? but by the talks of it since its AOSP, the good ol' regular no themed GB right?

Here's the current download link from the original thread:

gapps: http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110810-signed.zip
I flashed this ROM and unfortunately did not ODIN the bootloader first, and now my phone is stuck in a perpetual boot screen. I can't seem to get back to Recovery or anything. Anyone else happen to do this or have a way to get back to Recovery?
Thanks

Does that Rom support German too?
Only three languages are included: English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
ah ok.
Thats a bit sad. But hopefully we will get some Rls with many Languages
ROM runs pretty god it flows compared to original color ROM! No bugs ,fcs or lags also.

One day in so far so good. My only comment is that I had to flash the 4.2 g-apps package on top of it as the Play Store was no where to be found. Battery life seems pretty good.

This seems to a sync/update problem with google frameworks, however after a second reboot it seems to initialize correctly.
Thanks for your work.
My findings:
- I have trouble making app-folders on any homescreen.
- when moving the existing app-folder (tools) to any homescreen, it does not succeed.
Otherwise...good and fast.
Hi. Can someone please mirror the download.
Thanks
Thanks works very well.
thank, good work :good:

me too. cellular network using more power.
This Color Rom version is very smooth and working good on every functions that all I need .
But only one thing Battery life not good enough for me (cellular network & Stand by Process drains a lot Battery).
Kernel may be causing problems I guess.
Updated to ColorOS 4.2 [130808 Stable]
it now uses a custom kernel based on maxwen kernel, should reduce battery consumption.
I have a charging problem with the 4.2 [130808 Stable] update.
My charger was not detected.
Charging with the usb port from pc is ok also another carger works?

Hey guys I have a question about the android system process.
I have the app Du Battery Saver installed and it shows that my android system process used 41.8% of my total battery since 7am. The process only shows up in Du Battery but not in the system battery tab.
Please have a look at the screenshots and tell me if thats a normal battery usage.

By the way, what ROM are you running and is there a specific reason why you need that App?
Most of the AOSP ROMs give you pretty good mileage.
Hey, thanks for your reply!
I'm running on stock rom, rooted and with TWRP installed. I used the TrulyClean script and removed some other apps with NoBloat. So I thought I've deleted some apps which can cause high CPU when they're missing...
No there is no reason why I need this app, I just was interested which apps use much CPU.
I thought I might install Cyanogenmod but there are only nightly builds availabe for i9505 right?
Thanks, Surroot

hey..
looking at yr screenshots, it look like Google Services is running 15%, which is the cause the battery to drain.
I'm sure there's wakelock in yr device.
Try using better battery stats app to find the problem.
Thank you, I try this program
It looks much better today. I didn't use it much, but i think this battery drain is normal.

Hi guys, as I wrote in the title I have a really awful battery life with my Nexus 4 and I don't think it is related to the rom/kernel I'm using because lots of people with the same configuration have no problem. I'm currently using PA 3.99 RC2 with Semaphore kernel, but I've tried also franco and I have the same result. I started from stock rom and then i did a full wipe before installing PA, but I keep having problems. This is my situation:

I'm unable to post a log because the apps don't show it to me (I can't understand why) but it seems like the problem is related to the app I use, anyway these are very popular apps and I find absurd that to have a decent battery life I have to uninstall them because in this case I would only use the phone to call and send texts, many people are using these apps and they have a great battery life so I can't understand.
which recovery are u using? u need maybe to update it or try another recovery. I had problems with some roms, after switching to another recovery everything was fine.
maybe u give it a try:good:

I'm using TWRP, it seems strange but i'll try with CWM!
Try detecting what's using resources and keeping the device woken up with WakeLockDetector.
@mods: can't we just sticky the Battery Impressions Thread adding a 'post your battery issues here' to it's title? We're getting overloaded with battery drain threads, and the issues are common enough to have them a sticky. Thx.

I used it, in fact I posted a screen with the result and it seems that google+, facebook messenger and whatsapp are causing the issue but this apps are used by many people and they don't have problems, it just doesn't make any sense to uninstall these because I mostly use the phone for these apps :s
Two days ago I've installed last official upgrade to 4.4.2 kitkat on my unrooted 4.3 Note 3.
Phone is worst than before.
Battery life is signifincatly less (about 50% less) and the phone (petfect before) now is slower and less snappy.
Solid Explorer (the file manager) is mo more able to write to external SD.
And I read Other people have same problem no matter the file manager they use.
Anyone have noticed same things?

If you are rooted, there is a fix for the SD card issue. Else, just wait for the OTA.
For the other problems, try a factory reset.
Did anyone come up with a fix

Found battery life to be better in kit kat if anything. I did factory reset before upgrading though.
The Samsung file manager writes to external sd. If you don't want to root you might just have to put up with that piece of garbage until the solid explorer Dev gets around to updating his app to comply with the new security requirements in kit kat.

I have had very good battery life on kitkat. it all depends on how you set up the rom. Also these screenshots are just an average day.. i booted into recovery twice.
