Questions for T-Mobile before flashing - HD2 General

Hello Guys,
so finally i've bought one T-Mobiloe HD2 now(after so many research), all thanx to members from here
but now i'm on phase 2 aka flashing the new ROM's, but as everyone i also have lots of queries, so please clear them as much as you can.
i have this radio version 2.10.50.26, Mister B suggested me to flash this radio 2.12.50.02_2
Q.1 so i can install 2.12.50.02_2 over my 2.10.50.26 ?
Q.2 what are the reasons that someone can brick his T-Mobile HD2 ??
Q.3 so i need to install this new radio only for once or the everytime i install 6.5/7.5/android ??
Q.4 how big memory card i need to install dual boot of 7.5 and ICS(8/16/32 GB, i prefer the lowest as the phone speed will be decreased with a big memory card) which one works best ?
Q.5 what i need to take care of to avoid bricking my device ?
Q.6 what are the manual settings for 3G for Vodafone India ?
sorry guys for so many questions i'm so exited

also please tell me what i need to do first and second and than after that ........
like do i need to flash a radio first or do the HARD SPL.......or the MAGLDR........??
EDIT :::
i've found this post in a thread and i have the same model........tell me if there is any problem with this model's radio

Yes, as long as you have HSPL
Q.2 what are the reasons that someone can brick his T-Mobile HD2 ??
Flashing an EU radio (x.xx.51.xx)
Q.3 so i need to install this new radio only for once or the everytime i install 6.5/7.5/android ??
Only once
Q.4 how big memory card i need to install dual boot of 7.5 and ICS(8/16/32 GB, i prefer the lowest as the phone speed will be decreased with a big memory card) which one works best ?
Depends entirely on how you want to use it. I don't think a bigger card would decrease speed though, but you can do some research on that if you want.
Q.5 what i need to take care of to avoid bricking my device ?
Make sure you only flash a 2.xx.50.xx radio.

Thanx Nigeldg,
now thats a reply i like with short words that explains everything
please answer them too
Q.1 i was thinking about buying a 16GB microSD class 10 card.....is this good enough for a dual boot of WM7.5+ICS(i will only install 5-10 apps per OS) ??
Q.2 now as i have flashed a HSPL 2.08 do i need to update is later for other ROM's,,,,or this same HSPL will work for every ROM ??
Q.3 what is a CWM ??
Q.4 please guide me for a dual-boot of WM7.5+ThisROM
(may be i'll ask some more questions again, but please don't be pissed with my stupid questions as i don't want to brick my TMOUS.....and yes i do google everything about what i ask but google have so many confusing answers)
Edit :::
i was thinking about doing a dual boot with these two WP7 and Android , so is this possible to do this with both of them with my Radio 2.12.50.02_2 and HSPL 2.08
Thank You.

Think that should be fine, although from what I've heard the best SD classes for SD Android are 2 and 4.
Q.2 now as i have flashed a HSPL 2.08 do i need to update is later for other ROM's,,,,or this same HSPL will work for every ROM ??
Stick with HSPL 2.08.
Q.3 what is a CWM ??
CWM is short for Clockworkmod recovery. It's basically how we flash most NAND Android ROMs
Q.4 please guide me for a dual-boot of WM7.5+ThisROM
A couple of issues with that:
-I haven't done a dual boot of WP7 and Android before. Search for mengfei's guide (don't forget to thank him) and ask questions there
-The ROM you want is a NAND ROM. You need an SD ROM.
-The ROM you want is an alpha i.e. it's unstable with tonnes of issues
-The ROM you want has been discontinued
(may be i'll ask some more questions again, but please don't be pissed with my stupid questions as i don't want to brick my TMOUS.....and yes i do google everything about what i ask but google have so many confusing answers)

The radio and HSPL are fine, but as stated earlier you need an SD ROM, not a NAND ROM.
Thank You.

Never ask this question. Nobody can really suggest the best ROM for you, so don't even bother asking. If you want opinions, just go to the Dev sections and look at the number of views the thread has and its rating (in *s). As for the One V ROM, nothing works on that, as I've already pointed out. I've helped you so far but honestly I think you can find everything you could possibly need just by searching using the forum search tool.

hi. i just bought a tmobile hd2. some of my phones informations is:
spl-2.10.0000 8g xe

i've read lots of articles on this site. i suppose i'll need to instal another rom on my phone. i read a lot but i get little confused. i think first i have to instal HardSPL (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614) second i have to flash a radio and i can instal a rom. and on this page (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784) it says i don't need to flash a radio. which means that i just install hardspl and instal this rom... am i right?
can you guys help me what am i suppose to do... and which version of hardspl, radio and rom works well for me?
sory to ask lots of questions but i don't know enough about wm phones ( thanks for guides...
Hi, basic steps are
1. Backup your important data like contacts etc..
2. Its very IMPORTANT that you Flash HardSPL first before flashing any ROM (No worries,it only needs to be done once for you to enjoy subsequent custom ROMs). Version 2.08.HSPL is ok.
3. Browse the threads for a suitable "TMobile HD2 compatible ROM" or visit this link for comfirmed ROMs.
4. Perform a Hard reset after successfully flashing any of the ROMs
5. Enjoy!
i suggest u clear your schedule, get coffee, tea, drink(s) and visit This Link . It contains info and links to all the guides you can possibly need to push you and your device to a higher level. i wouldn't recommend trying android till you are very comfortable with flashing ROMs.
you dont need to worry about the radio just yet, because since you have a tmous phone, it already has a radio that will work with all tmous compatible roms anyway.
Well I'm gonna just say right now I'm not an expert or anything since I'm relatively new too. I'm just trying to help, I would however advise wait for a more experienced person to answer.
First, if you want to flash a ROM follow this guide for the TMOUS HD2's. It goes over how to do it, which ROMs are compatible and all that.
Yes, you do have to get HSPL (except I think there are methods when you don't, though that might just be for the international phones...). But to get HSPL you should probably use this. I don't know if it is the only thing that does it but it, from what I understand, is the most well known. It also keeps you from "bricking" your phone.
From what I understand the only time you have to flash a radio is if the ROM needs it, and the chefs will say if it needs a certain one or list ones that it works with on their ROM page. I think most of them support the radio that comes stock, though don't take my word for it. I would wait for someone else to confirm or re-explain this paragraph because I'm not completely for sure.
As for which ROM is right for you...well only you can answer that. They all are different and different ones have advantages over the others. You just gotta explore a little and see what looks nice. This is the list of ROMs that support the T-Mobile HD2 so stick to it. I don't know how up-to-date it is (meaning I don't know if there are any new ones or not) but stick to those, you can "brick" your phone otherwise.
I would however advise if you're new to WM phones to try out themes first. They are a lot safer and I don't think there is any chance of ruining your phone (the only reason I flashed mine is because I've done it with a different phone before and felt comfortable doing it). Don't do anything you are uncomfortable doing and understand all the risks that go into anything you do to your phone before you do them.
Sorry for the long post, just hope this helps a little.
Edit:
I just got double ninja'd

That's d spirit...You'll be amazed @ what the search function on XDA coughs up...Everything'll go well once u stick to d guides and TMobile compatibie ROMs & Radios.
i picked up this rom (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=652649) but there is two options. 1) com5(c5) 2)com2(c2). i don't know what it means... and if want to install one of these roms do i have to flash a radio after installing hspl?
and what is the stock rom?
thanks again...
It looks like COM5 and COM2 are just different versions. COM5 offers more options it looks like though, but I'm not sure. Someone else can probably answer that a lot better than me. I am also unable to answer the radio question. Sorry.
As for stock ROM though, that is the ROM that came already on your HD2 when you got it.

I see u picked out Kumar's ROM...Click Here for a thread on the definitions and differences between COMs...And No, you won't need to flash a radio after installing HSPL or a custom ROM (Unless you are having problems connecting to your network in which case, u need 2 be careful 2 flash a radio known to work with Tmobile HD2).
Stock ROM is the original/default ROM which TMobile shipped with your device. Follow this guide and you can grab the stock ROM from here. The Stock ROM has to be re-flashed to your device if u ever have to return it to Tmobile as flashing a custom ROM voids your warranty. Grab useful links and watch video tutorials here.
Hope dis helps ya.

If you have a Radio/HSPL already, you don't need to do it again, unless you want to update them.
Check the sticky link in my sig. In there is a link titled "Flashing Your First HD2 NAND Android Rom [For Newbs]"
Read this for all the info you could ever need.
Hope this helps.

Yes, as long as they are compatible. All the info is in the Guide thread. HSPL and Radio have to be over a certain minimum.
This is from that thread:
Code:
1. YOU NEED A RADIO WHICH SUPPORTS 576 RAM
(2.08.50 or later should be fine but the Radio NEEDS to be 2.**.50.**).
I recommed the 2.15.50.14 Radio *HERE*
2. YOU NEED HARDSPL 2.08 INSTALLED ON YOUR DEVICE
TO FLASH MAGLDR
Please read the guide through before going ahead, and refer to it, and the FAQ, if you have any problems. 99% of issues have already been solved and the fixes are in there.
Good luck, and enjoy.

2 hours and still none the wiser ,please help

I have read through hundreds of posts and still confused ,basically i want to run Android as a dual boot with windows my stats are
ROM 1.72.206
Radio 2.07.51
Proto 15.32.50
There is a lot of confusing threads with some saying this wont work with that code and you need to flash this but it wont work unless you have higher than this,my brain is turning to mush .
I have read all the differences with sspl ,spl ,hspl and still dont know what i have on mine ,i installed bsb tweakes when i first had the phone a few months ago aswell as loading tomtom and memory map which have worked fine .i have now come across a few more apps that i need but they only work on android ,could someone please please help on a newbie trying to install Android and provide some links for me to follow .
Many many thanks in advance
You have to flash a radio with .50 in it, instead of .51.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787 for more instructions on doing this
After your radio is good, just download an Android SD build to your SD card, boot into WinMo, launch clrcad.exe and then haret.exe
Clrcad doesn't open any window, haret launches Android.

I do not know whether you have ever installed android on HD2 or not, but according to my understanding you are just starting and you are overwhelmed. Basically if you have HD2 with win6.5 OS then you should start by installing HSPL3, followed by radio(your radio seems to be very old. Flash new one 2.15.50.xx). Once you are done with these 2 steps, you can install android on HD2.

Did you check your SPL version. What version do you have???
These are the stats i have
OS 5.2.21869
Manilla 2.5.20121429
Rom 1.72.206.3
Radio 2.07.51.22.2
Protocol 15.32.50
How do i check the spl ? i have soft reset the phone but cant get the 3 colours up
restart your phone and hold the volume down button when it turns back on to get to the multicolor boot screen... that will tell you what spl you have.
Make sure the volume down is held down while the phone first gets turned on, so if you reset it, start holding the volume down right before it turns off and keep holding it until the boot screen pops up.. it should happen right away.
You should be able to use hspl3 with most spl's. Once you have hspl installed, you want to install one of the newer radios, and then your phone should be ready to run android off the sd card.

There is no 1024 UK version. The T-Mobile USA version is the only 1024mb ROM version. The UK/ euro versions are 512mb rom size. I'm pretty sure that hspl3 works with all the phones. Hspl2 might have only been for leo1024s, but cotulla made hspl3 to make it universally compatible. When i sign on with my computer, I'll look it up if you haven't figured it out by then.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I have found this one by cotulla

Really all you need to do is wipe it clean and do it right this time.
Happy learning...
Also you might just be better using this tool for the work in hand.
Download the HD2Toolkit. You can click here to get it > http://nrgz28.sylvester20007.com/HD2...lkit_setup.exe (original thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1090783 )
im sorry but icke saids magldr is not for 3.03.HSPL ist there an alternative Bootloader hiw i can install on my device ? I found an original Rom now i have wimo 6.5 again but i want Android , im new in the scene so i think i ask some dumb questions but everyone of us was an beginner or not ?
Why not just flashing 2.08 hspl?!
Same steps as flashing 3.03 hspl.
just don't use HSPL 3.03. it's for other uses MAGLDR for installing Android only runs on HSPL 2.08. there is no need for thinking that higher number is better, it's a tool built for a job.
If the tool you are using does not do it use another one. I added a link in the last post to a different set of tools that is designed for end users that need everything all in the one place HD2 ToolKit, give it a try.
Could i flash HSL 2.08 over my existing one 3.03 ?
Yeah. No problem. Keep in mind that only cLK works with both HSPLs.
It works thanks .... i flashed the HSPL 2.08.HSPL do the device and everthing works fine ....
Glad you solve it! And next time as ForgetfulGuru said just read the thread more carefully! Cheers!

Well done and welcome to the frustrating world of flashing Android. Now all you need to do is try every other ROM and work out why that one doesn't work like the other and you go round and round in circles till you end up back where where where where. Oops brain just Forced Closed . ;-)

[Q] Clarification on best way to get WP7

Hi guys,
Firstly many thanks to everyone for putting so much effort into development for the hd2.
I just need some quick clarification.
I’ve had the hd2 for over 2 years but never flashed a custom rom!
I want to run WP7 now and believe me I have read ALL the stickies and searched but I am confused with regards to correct roms and HSPLs to use for my device.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASe just point me in the right direction as I don’t want to brick my hd2
Crurrent ROM: 3.14.161.3 (04666) WWE
Radio version: 2.15.50.14
I have put HSPL4 on it (but from reading some posts i think i need to use HSPL3?).
Given the above can I go ahead and flash MGLRD 1.14 (or should i use 1.13?)
OR do i need to downgrade my radio first?
I have read LOADS but Im just getting a confused as there is a lot of TMOUS specific stuff too.
Please advise the best next action to get WP7 PLEASE.
Many thanks in advance
hi i´m no professional but i will try to help you.
First you will need this:
1• Hard SPL 2.08 or higher http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433
2•hd2 Radio which support 576 RAM .(Radio 2.15.50...) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
3• Magldr1.13 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893618
see videos:
HSPL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4amlg-ogrpM
radio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aS011l0saU8
Magldr http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwuHqMWJ_Rg
after all this go to ROM thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236027 and install WP7.
Thanks for the reply.
Sorry for not be more clear.
I dont have an issue with the actual process of getting WP7, its just that Im not sure the correct radio i should be using. Some places say 2.08 and above is fine, others say different.
Given my ROM and radio, can i now put Magldr1.13 on my device? (baring in mind i flashed HSPL4)
Also the links you have provided dont seem to work?
Thanks again

you can always restart the process i mean install magldr 1.13 and the links are working now (some as megaupload and multiupload arent)
all radio you need links here http://www.rhiffsta.ch/LEO_Radio/list.html
use HSPL4 and select HSPL2.08.
You need to select HSPL2.08 to run WP7 & MAGLDR. WP7 doesn’t support HSPL3.03/OSPL3.03.
in your case i think you have the correct settings and you can go and install WP7
Ok so just to be absolutely certain, for a UK (non us Tmobile) device, the radio and ROM I have above are ok to flash MAGLDR 1.13 and the WP7???
Sorry to be pedantic but like i said i just dont want to brick the phone.
Thanks again, really appreciate it.

Yes it seems so. I have European hd2 and the same settings.
Thanks man.
Just a separate question then, if you have the same settings - which WP7 ROM are you using? and are there any issue specific to issues this radio?
