I believe the manual can be downloaded directly from Samsung....
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab/GT-P3113TSYXAR
Tried some videos in wmv format worked good no stuttering or so but as i read in manual no certified device to play divx videos 1080p

Plays 1080p mkv videos lagfree in my p3100

Forgive my incompetence, but wouldn't a 1080p movie on that screen be overkill? Are there enough pixels to display it properly?

Hey i'm a noob here and i have a question
Is there any way to enable 1080p on my iconia so i can watch full hd movies like all the other honeycomb tablets out there? I have now flashed the virtuous picasso v1.0.8 rom and i noticed that i still can't watch 1080p videos on youtube. So my question is if there is any rom or kernel that can enable 1080p video playback?
Advanced thanks
you may try to use stock rom 4.010.22 or above which can automatically switch to 1080p output while playing 1080p video.

Are you talking about HDMI out? If Yes, then there are ROMs that can output 1080p trough HDMI. If you are talking about 1080p playback on the device itself then NO! There is NO Honeycomb tablet (yet) that can do 1080p in Adobe flash (youtube and others)
1080p
movies is lagging at 1080p this is killing me.
I am on the ota 3.1
If you're watching on the tablet itself, there's no point in watching 1080p. The screen only has 800px vertical pixels (landscape). Just use 720p on the tab. If going out to HDMI, are you getting lag?

There is still NO Hardware acceleration (for video) in Honeycomb so ALL of the Honeycomb tablets have this issue! ONLY MP4 Codec (h.264 Base) is supported and any other file format will use software rendering (slow choppy)!! Honeycomb is still an incomplete OS.
Oh and if someone is wondering why his/hers Android smartphone plays video better, the answer is simple: Most manufacturers enhance codec support on their devices(Samsung the most) and Android 2.2/2.3 is more polished OS with a lot of support! Another problem is that nVidia have still not made a driver for honeycomb that takes advantage of the hardware decoder in Tegra2
Example: My 7" Samsung Galaxy TAB although with only a single core CPU can play ANY 1080p I have thrown at it! But it is running Android 2.3.4
but samsung tabs does it, doesn't it ?

Nope! NO Honeycomb Tablet can display properly 1080p (other than MP4 h.264 Base) video!
Oh yes sorry, I've just reached the friend of mine that told me, he has indeed a galaxy tab but with gingerbread !
thanks for the info

To answer you question Yes. I used to play 1080p videos with MX Player (Overclocked of course) no lag as far as I noticed. I like to just push the limit that's all no other intention. Usually I only use 720p videos.

Is there any differents playng 1080p/720p videos in Arc or Neo.
Screen size is fixed and also HDMI output is 720p.
When you looking 1080p via hdmi or directly in phone..then i think you need much more power for that...reason..your phone must be calibrate and tryng fit this format 1080p to 854x480 screen..also hdmi "hole" is too small for 1080p..then phone makes some stuff and tricks to fitting this size video.
Its long story..but your wasting space, time, perfomance and battery when looking 1080p in Arc or Neo. It looks anyway like 720p.
Cheers
Taavi

Hey. I'm new here Thought i'd see if you guys could answer a question for me.
I was wondering if anyone knew exactly what the resolution of videos playing in the nexus 10 youtube app are? I haven't actually got my nexus yet, but I imagine it's the same as my S3, where the player only has a "SD" and "HD" option.
Is the HD just equivilent to 720p? Or will it choose the highest possible resolution for the video? I'm asking this because watching youtube videos in 1080p would be really nice
Thanks!
I am curious too since it does not lt you select.
Pretty sure it's 720p on the app for HD.
I'll do a test when I get home later.
I've been wondering that too
Youtube app will render videos to Hd720p. If you want full 1080p you'll have to use the browser.

Thanks for the replies.
That's annoying Would be nice if google could update the app for tablets so we can view 1080p videos without having to use the browser.
Google should update the app and give you the option because the browser page is not good in my opinion slow laggy and hard to use with a touch screen.
Why make a Google product and then hinder it with low quality video stream. Honestly its one thing that annoys me with with his tablet how soft videos look from the YouTube app. It does not do this amazing tablet justice , lucky I have nice images to look at lol

Yup, 720p only.
Your right! I did not know that. Google does own youtube since 2005 from what I read.

isn't youtube owned by google?
jjdevega said:
Its not Google that needs to update, it's YouTube. Google isnt responsible for apps not made by them.
Youtube just needs to start jumping on the band wagon and start supporting higher res streaming.

If google says jump, youtube says how high. They are their subsidiary.
With the Nexus 10 and its supreme display resolution I guess we can expect an update to the YouTube app pretty soon. I expect a 1080p option.
Yes, 1600p would be nice but don't forget at this resolution/bitrate many people won't be able to stream it anymore, at least not in an acceptable time frame.

It was a sarcastic question hence the face. Thanks for joining in on the conversation.
Nexus 10 doesn't come with radio for data hence me asking as if his Nexus 10 did.
I hope this explanation clears things up for you so you aren't confused by sarcasm.
Yeah it would be nice if they updated the app, but I suppose 720p isn't too bad on a 10 inch screen anyway.
Youtube only supports up to 2048x1536 at the moment anyway. Hopfully 1600p youtube will come eventually
Youtube 720p looks surprisingly good on the N10 to me. If they add a 1080p option I definitely hope 720p is still selectable.

Well, let me answer with some numbers:
I have a really high quality video on my N10 (the Timescape Trailer), it's 1440p and 33.5 mbit/sec worth of data.
Even with high compression a 1600p video would be like 10-20 mbit/sec or around 40 mbit/sec in very high quality.
Is it possible for the note 10.1 to video in 1080p? Or 720p at 60 fps?
Do you mean the camera?

Not really, there aren't many developers here compared to the nexus s , hopefully
Y we get one soon.
720p @ 30fps.
Is it possible to change it to 1080p? Or is the camera-unit just not good enough.
Galaxy tab 2 10.1 can record 1080P videos with its old 3.2 mpix camera, i think samsung was too lazy to activate it on note

Can you please share the video you used for testing? I tried with various 4K videos, some work while others don't. I think it depends on the different formats and codecs each video uses. I also got 4K to play on Xperia Z Ultra (MSM8974) and XiaoMI 3 (Tegra 4)

my galaxy s3 could play 4k video its not that big of a deal, now if it recoreded it that would be cool but the phone is incapable of doing so i believe this thread should be closed, but its good that a phone can play a 4k video and my friends computer cant even play a 4k video it glitches out
Of course it can play 4K videos, provided it's the H.264 standard and not Hi10P or HEVC.
m on air purity rom i checked by downloading a song of 4k video of 850 mb and it was in mp4 format
and the airpurity rom is from htc mania thread
I'll add a pointless comment to a pointless thread
