Been lurking for a bit and can not find any support for Nexus 7 soft key modification. Any help, or if I could get pointed in the right direction, would be fantastic!

hi guys,
i just found out that our 4 hardwarekeys on our blackstone are just driver-made. that means our touchpad goes down to the keys.
this can easily be proved by using slide2unlock2: while sliding, go down to the keys and it is still possible to move the slider.
so why don't we tweak the driver for the buttons a bit to have e.g. 5 softkeys? we could move the home and back button a little bit aside.
i often missed the "startmenu"-key on my hd.
of course we don't get that printed on our device, but if you know where these buttons are, it could be very usefull.
so, what do you think? is it possible to realize?
unfortunately i'm not gifted with these programming skills, but i bet somebody around here can definitly do it!
greetings,
guro
no one interessted in this?
think of the buttons an HD2 has, i mean the same alignment! so in one row should be dial, home, windows, back, hang up buttons.
do you know which dll is the driver for the buttons?
thanks in advance!

I remember someone doing this before or trying to get it developed. Not sure how it was left though. Most likely in the Development and hacking forum. I suggest to try searching there and/or post your query within that forum
would you mind moving my thread over to that forum?
i didn't find any thread while searching for that topic...

Problem is I cannot remember where I saw it. I would direct you there if I knew where it was. This is why I said for you to search. I'll have a quick look and see if I can find it. If I do I'll post link or combine threads
EDIT
Think I found original thread, but unfortunately it went no ware with no responses. Sorry mate
I'm running UltimateDroid right now and I'm loving it. The only problem I have is the same one as other ROMs ported from Droid X: the physical keyboard mapping is off for alt characters.
Anyone know how I can fix this? I've seen it noted in a couple threads that it's easy to do but no one has actually stated what needs to be done in order to do so.
Thanks in advance!
Bump for assistance
Reading around this sounds like this is more hardware related than one might think. And I'm pretty sure the locked bootloader may make this impossible.
I would love to know this too so anyone with real knowledge on the subject please chime in!
Hi Well-Esteemed XDA Developers
May I ask for your expertise in changing the battery icon as well as the color of the toggle buttons in the notification bar up top?
I've already rooted my Note and tried the paid version of ROM Toolbox, but even after rebooting, the battery icon refuses to change. I understand that the toggle widgets might be harder to modify, so I'll be patient with this, hoping someone would find a way around this.
I apologize in advance if this is something that has already been fixed, my last Samsung was the Omnia i908 for Windows Mobile 6, and I've checked other threads specific to the Galaxy Note and nobody has yet brought this up.
Thanks once again XDA for the amazing experience you've bought to my Android experience!
You may need to wait a little while until the devs get their hands on this device. Be sure to check out the "GN Android Development" forum instead of "General" for this kind of modding.
You can use uotkitchen website to do it. Works perfectly on my GN
how did you manage to change the icon... i have kitchenpro but i'm a noob, so i'll be extremely grateful if you could share how to change it
Hello everyone,
I'm a bit new here, always reading, never posting. Hope the question is not too stupid or the answer not too easy...
Since I bought my NST I rooted it, and installed a good program for downloading comics (Mango, in my case) and reading (Perfect Viewer). I think this device is perfect for this purpose and ended up only using it for reading manga. I've never been this happy
Is there any kind of modified "Perfect Viewer", or a way to set it up, or my android system, for it to detect the side buttons? I tryed to set the program with the "volume buttons" but not working...
Thank you!
Use this thread:

If you dont know how to do it with its instructions come to my thread:

Search for :
Installing XorZone's B&N button modifier
And follow instructions, then open NookTouchTools and remap buttons as volume, hope it helped.
Thanks! I will give it a try right now!
Hey guys!
Well, everything on my 7Phone+ rom is seeming to come around perfectly, and NO I'm not abandoning it, and I'm not releasing a beta of it (surprisingly) because I want a massive surprise for you!
Anyway, I am trying to port/build TellMe, the Windows Phone Mango voice commands software, to our Optimus One!
It is mainly because all the other ones are too big (an application :L) and so I'm planning on making this EXACTLY like the real TellMe!
I have design templates ready to go, just need to get actual voice recognition and commands to work!
It will be just like real one, if you press search key in this instance (custom rom key binding) it will pop up at the top bit of the screen, and the rest will be translucent gray, like the real thing!
So yeah
CJ
P.M. Why is no-one replying to my needed resourfes thread
