I've used launchers before on my G1 and Vibrant so I am familiar with how to use them. However, I don't quite get how it runs.
Do all launchers run concurrently, or "on top" of your stock launcher (sense in this case)? Or does the stock launcher "close" while using one of the alternate launchers? The reason I ask is some people complain of shorter battery life when using certain launchers and I wondered if it was because both the stock front end was running alongside the replacement one.
They appear to run on top OF SENSE because I use Zeam launcher and task manager says both sense and seam are both running... I only use zeam ... espresso is UGLY!!
Aloha from Hawaii!
I go for Go Launcher EX
lacher ex has rly nice transition effects
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Go Launcher Ex!
Launcher Pro is a bit faster from what i experienced but still Go Launcher offers the most, and most of all, for free. Go Dev Team got lots of awesome apps for Android.
I use:
Go Launcher Ex - HoneyComb theme + notification plugin
Go SMS Pro - with Emojicon plugin

I have the same setup (minus the honeycomb theme), I used the wizmod theme
I prefer go launcher ex to launcher pro mainly because these two very similar in features and it's free.
Go launcher also has its own widgets, similar to launcher pro
can someone say what "launchers" really are?? I dont know anyting about them..
pretty much the user interface of your home screens and app drawer. look at images on for launcher pro and go launcher on the market, you'll see the differences.
As for my choice, definitely going with go launcher. I think the ONLY thing I miss about launcher pro was having the sense widgets, and being able to edit the dock bar which I''m surprised hasn't been done in go launcher yet
Go Launcher Ex uses more Ram, but it has an integrated taskmanager and some other nice features. I prefere it.
I've become pretty accustomed to launcher pro since i used to use it on my mt4g and now again since it was included with g-lite on my G2 but i have always been curious about go launcher... it looks like it has more customization options and features than launcher pro but i'm not sure and i don't necessarily feel like re doing all my launcher settings and stuff if go launcher sucks.
So does anyone use go launcher? Is it any better or different from launcher pro? Does it consume any more or less resources than launcher pro would probably be the biggest thing...
Thanks in advance.

theyre both pretty much the same now, launcher pro is still a bit ahead cause the widgets are kinda cooler
if you want less resources consumed and no lags at all use the stock launcher, it doesnt have customizations tho
You won't have to redo your Launcher Pro configuration/settings if you try Go Launcher. You can try/install as many launchers as you want. If you want to switch back to another launcher, you just need to clear defaults in Settings>Applications>Manage applications>(current launcher). Then press home, and pick the launcher that you want to switch to, and it will still be setup how you left it. Or use an app like Home Switcher for Foryo (works for Gingerbread, too). to make switching a bit faster.
It's can be use and all the same. With g-lite ROM i'm using GoLauncher, when i want i use Launcher7 - winphone7 launcher - with no problem
Right now I'm currently running nova launcher on a new note 3. Unfortunately I dont like the launcher other then the fact that I can adjust the grid size (5 apps down) and that I can change the icon theme. Other then that I don't like it as much as the stock touchwhiz. I'm wondering if anybody knows a plain launcher that just leaves everything running as stock except for grid customization and if possible icon themes. Thanks!
Nova, as well as Apex, are Vanilla Android launchers. They stick closest to the Stock Android experience. As plain as they get.
What you're looking for is a Touchwiz inspired launcher. (About as far from plain Stock Android as you can get.) Try S Launcher or Galaxy Launcher.

Try Yahoos's Aviate or Terrain Home.

Yeah I apologize I got the wording flipped from stock and touchwhiz, but the galaxy launcher is exactly what I was lookinh for, thanks for the help!
Do you use S8 Samsung experience or different launcher? if you use different launcher, which one? and why?
I've always used Nova. Has way more customization settings and I can mix and match different icon packs. The stock galaxy launcher just doesn't compete.
It looks like I am getting older, as on the S8 I do not use Nova, which I used since the days of HTC Sensation.
Using nova, love it. Can do a few of the things i lost without root & xposed.
Use nova now as with a few others my delete shorcut button when you hold your finger on an icon had stopped working.
Using Nova on every smartphone. Stock ones doesn't fit my needs.
I use Nova also. Stock launchers have too little options to customize.
I like stock. It has some functionality that Nova doesnt have (like multiple app cards even if they are not full, i.e. you can have a an app card for just one app if u want.) and ability to move any app icon anywhere. Nova is alphabetical only, and forces you to have folders at the very top.
I still use nova though.
Nova it is.
Nova prime on my every device
I have been using ActionLauncher3 for a few years and see myself continuing to use it for the foreseeable future.
I used Nova (Prime) on my S5, S6, and S7, but with the S8, I'm using the stock launcher. The reason I hated Touchwiz before was that the app drawer button couldn't be moved, but the new swipe up app drawer gesture on the S8 works for me.
holy jesus nova is popular for no reason, like its a stock launcher that you can change the icons on
I use lawn-chair from here https://github.com/deletescape-media/lawnchair
Open source and pretty good
i used Evie Launcher seems cool
I was using nova for a long time, but since s8 I'm staying with touchwiz, now I'm using modded touchwiz, it had some some features i was missing from nova like double tap to sleep, and has everything I need.
Pixel Launcher or TouchWiz

Is this modded TouchWiz for root only?

I don't think you have a clue what Nova can actually do. Looks are deceiving. It still is one of the most powerful feature wise.

except you can easily remap gestures on the screen (with prime), customize notification labels (tesla), completely change look and feel of homescreen/app drawer/dock, add multiple dock pages, change margins, persistant search bar, overlap widgets, add folders to app drawer, stick dock to the top, backup settings and import on different devices. did i forgot something?
i think you are right, theres no reason for it to be popular, it's like a stock launcher.
