Flash & BBC IPlayer - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have downloaded the 2 zip files BBC IPlayer and Flash Player as suggested in the Forum, unzipped them, but cannot find and apk files to install, Am I missing something?
I am a novice with handling apps. PLEASE HELP!

What browser did you use? I downloaded using Firefox and then used the standard Andriod "download" icon to look for the downloaded file. It did not display. I went back into Firefox, then to downloads within firefox and found the file displayed there. I ran the file and then deleted it there in Firefox after I knew the installation went OK.

Did a wipe and want to reinstall some apps

I had (and have again) everything on my SD cardbut some of the programs that I had downloaded from the Market (which I cant find on there now btw) were downloaded and installed from being a ZIP file. The one I am most interested in is the WordPlayer. At some point in the past I installed the player for reading books and would use that to open the individual ebooks. Now the only way I can go read books is through The Art of War and switching in the Library.
So - how do I install a zip file? I have attached the one I am specifically questioning.
Thanks
Install AndroZip (free) and extract the contents of the zip and run the apk.
Im assuming you do have some sort of file manager

File Download

How do i get it to download all file types, i tried downloading a zip file and it came up with this file is not supported , i have it rooted and have a file manager, it may be simple but i am new to android
do you mean download through a browser?
if you long press the link doesn't it give you an option to save it ?
zip support is built in I think, certainly astro handles them easily.
personally I tend to use xscope-gl (1.6 version) to grab files now as it supports pretty much anything.

Download a program called androzip its safe and it works awesome.
Use another browser as I found the default Android browser wouldnt let me download zip,rar or apk files. Dolphin is a tweaked android browser, which works great. I think you can download an HD version...which might suit the 5" screen better. Check it out before you buy

I wasnt as descriptive I should have been. If you download androzip it makes zip recongizable for download and it will open them as well. Also if you need to send any file over gmail you go through androzip. Open it go to the file tap on it and choose send, no zipping required.
Thanks for all the replys guys downloaded android zip and another browser and all is well thanks
Hello chaps, what browser would you guys recommend for android?

If you install Astro file manager that has an option to allow any file to download in the default browser... its worth having anyway as its a great file manager...

The content is not supported???? HOW???

Im trying to download something from 4shared.com and when i go to download it says content not supported. So i download anyway and when the file is done, its a .bin file. Also wouldnt download any apps when i was using MIkandi also. Just got a new replacement and never had problems with my other.
Bin files are just like zip files, they need to be uncompressed first. Download the file on your pc first, extract the apk, then send to phone.

Same problem here, it doesnt make any sense that it has always worked before and all of a sudden it fails. Another way around it is download it onto the desktop, and then send it to the phone, but its just not the same as before. Anyone?? Ive tried to unmout SD card, format, clear data.cahe, clearing download manager, no success.
download somethinglike Androzip, than it will associate the file extension with that app, allowing you to download it.
I've seen that a couple times on the stock browser but never while using Dolphin on desktop mode.

Modified libflashplayer.so and hulu?

Anyone had any luck getting the video player to actually work, i modified the .so file myself so i know i did it correctly at least as far as the patch that worked on my phone is concerned but on the acer i just got i can't get it to load up a video, just sits there blank
EDIT: nevermind i forgot to reset user agents and flash permissions on the browser, i guess i'm too tired
where do you place the so file??? Can you help me get this working?
Get eh libflashplayer.zip from here and follow the instructions.

Make sure you have installed flash 10.3 first.
Works great.
Ok I still can not get this to work.
I have Flash 10.3
I downloaded the zip file in the link and moved the .so file into the data/data/adobe..... location and replaced the file that was in there.
I rebooted. I have Dolphin HD set to desktop. I have cleared all the cache and cookies. I have it set to always enable plug-ins as suggested deep in those threads.
I have tried everything but yet, neither the apk hulu listed, or the website will play any hulu videos. I can see the page, the ads load fine. SpikeTV loads it's videos, just not Hulu.
I keep getting the "video not available on your platform" after the loading circle.
Help????
Edit: The stock browser does not work either.
I've noticed that every time I reboot that file gets reverted and I have to copy it back over.
Try killing your browser with a task manager and reopening it after copying, instead of rebooting.

That did it! Thanks!
It's working in Dolphin HD.
So to recap the steps for others.
Get Flash 10.3
Go to link mentioned above,
Download the .so Zip file.
Move the .so file to the data/data/adobe..lib folder
replace the file with the downloaded.
Make sure you are set to Desktop and not Mobile.
Also, not sure if it is needed, but I set the settings to Always Enable Plug-Ins.
Hulu works!

[Q] Native download location

Trying to map my downloads via Dolphin browser to the native 'downloads' app location.
Anyone know the filepath?
/sdcard/downloads/ lol

Are you sure?
I'm sure I've downloaded before, yet launching native download app has drawn a blank.

thats defo the default download location, i just copied a load of gameloft .apk's from there to my usb hard drive
I think it depended on the Dolphin version used. I remember Dolphin and Dolphin HD tended to go to the "downloads" directory, but Dolphin Mini's download directory was inside the data folder of Dolphin Mini. It was a bit of a PITA when you flashed with CWM and you didn't remember where you had downloaded your ROM...
I'm talking about the native 'downloads' app in the app drawer.
It's showing blank.
I've put files in the 'download' folder & also created a folder called 'downloads' & put some files in but still no dice.
I need to know the filepath to the native 'downloads app' in the app drawer so I can set Dolphin to assign downloads to that file.
You with me here?
So, I downloaded a file with the stock browser and the file did indeed go to sdcard/download.
File shows in app drawer 'downloads' app.
Downloaded another file with Dolphin, downloads mapped to go to sdcard/download.
File not in app drawer 'downloads' app.
Looks like the native downloads app only works with files recognised as downloaded with the stock browser.
