Im trying to download something from 4shared.com and when i go to download it says content not supported. So i download anyway and when the file is done, its a .bin file. Also wouldnt download any apps when i was using MIkandi also. Just got a new replacement and never had problems with my other.
Bin files are just like zip files, they need to be uncompressed first. Download the file on your pc first, extract the apk, then send to phone.

Same problem here, it doesnt make any sense that it has always worked before and all of a sudden it fails. Another way around it is download it onto the desktop, and then send it to the phone, but its just not the same as before. Anyone?? Ive tried to unmout SD card, format, clear data.cahe, clearing download manager, no success.
download somethinglike Androzip, than it will associate the file extension with that app, allowing you to download it.
I've seen that a couple times on the stock browser but never while using Dolphin on desktop mode.

Everytime I try open anything from that I downloaded or try to download no says the following:
"The file "name of file or program" cannnot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be fund. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring ths file."
I have redowloaded some files but still cant open them. I also cannt find my back up software on the phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated since I want to flash it. Thanks.

Is all this downloaded onto your CD card? If so, sounds like you may need to format it.
ost one of the apps/cabs you downloaded here and I'll test to make you that is wasn't a bad download.

Some on my SD card and Some in the my documents file. I have a back up and i cant open it even. It says that it cant open it and my Sprite download program is gone yet i can still open it on my PC. I dont know what the deal is. See attached file.
Also, when I try to download new cabs I cant open them on my pocket PC even if i download it directly on there from the net. Nor can I open the manual bootloader to run the RUU wrapper to flash it. Thanks in advance.
hi peeps.
i have a question, am i the only one having problems
while trying to download files cabs in all browsers?
by problems i mean, once i hit any download links,
the browser starts to download. but never actually
downloads the contents? thanks in advance.
mmm when you download it do you tell it what folder to store it so you can install it?
thanks for responding.
and no, i just click save and it should automatically save to my documents.
but the .zip or file downloaded regardless of size. just never even start.
theres an icon for it in my documents. but it wont launch, since it didnt
even finish dling. but this only happens in opera.
I have the Bell Galaxy S and sometimes email attachments will fail to download. For example I can't download an mpg or jpg file my parents sent me. However, I can download a small text file. Anyone have similar issues and does anyone know how to fix it?
I have an issue downloading "large" files.
It's weird because it seems to be source dependent as well. I was able to download a 34MB HTC sync driver yet a RAR file of 40MB wouldn't download even though the save to pop-up showed up on opera and i pick location but it never starts.
in the built in browser on the other hand i get unsuported file error show up.
I was using the Samsung Email with my hotmail account sync'd. Mpg files and jpg files failed to download. It's very frustrating...even a pdf failed to download but I know I had been able to download one before.
you guys should try this

do you have astro file manager installed? if so, there is an option to enable the browser to download unknown file types or smth like that, but it also states that it will mess up your email attachments, so if you have enabled it, you know what to do ^^
cheers
yes astro works too
Sorry, how does this affect using Samsung Email to download attachments? Does it even help? I'd really just like to know why certain files download fine as attachments to the attachment folder while others do not. How can I make it so I can download all attachments...?
it works just like your file association in windows
if you do not have an App installed that can handle the file type, it wont let you do anything with the file, not even saving it to disk
That's stupid that you can't even download the file. Thanks for the help guys.
hey all iv noticed this a lot with the stock 2.2 rom on my POV Mobii tegra 2 (advent vega rebrand).
e.g i uninstalled a game called jelly defence, then tried to install an updated version of it. the install fails saying aplication not installed.
ok so i then tried to reinstall the first version i had working on the tablet, and that also fails to install saying again application not installed..
why would this be happening? iv noticed that it happens on a fair few number of apps that i install, then uninstall, then try to install again and they fail to install.
installation is done via apk file from sd card. even tried over wifi and still same error.
I know this might sound rude, but did you try Google?
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4226132/application-not-installed-error-on-android
ahh, could be something to do with the certificates or the AndroidManifest.xml file.
where is this file located so that i can check its permissions?
This might be a tough nutt to crack...
"AndroidManifest.xml" file is inside .apk files.
ok i managed to fix the problem. i mounted my sd card to the pc with card reader, and in the android.secure folder there was a file called smdl2tmp1.asec , i deleted that and now the app installs fine. got both jelly defence and few others installed with no issues.
strange how i cant see that folder on the tablet itself because its hidden. need an app to see the folder and its contents directly on the tablet so i can delete it again if needed.
Yeah, folders and files with a dot infront of their names are invisible.
It's a Linux thing!
Glad you got that sorted out!
is there no file manager app that can see these files directly on the tablet?
Just tried "iFileManager" app I got with stock tablet software and it can see hidden files/folders.
I also tried Root Explorer and it can see hidden files/folders, but this is a paid app.
Astro File Manager can also see hidden files/folders, but you need to go into Preferences-->Look and Feel-->and enable "Show Hidden Files" option.
Maybe your current file manager app also has such an option?
Hope I helped, and don't forget to give a thanks!
ahh, i have stock ifilemanager, but i dont use it, i use ES File Explorer since i can access my LAN shares with it easily over the wifi. will give ifilemanager a go in few mins time.
thanks again.
just checked ifilemanager can see the folder but it cant see any of the file which are inside the folder.
Just checked some "hidden" folders myself on my tablet.
Some have files / sub-folders inside and some don't.
Not all folders need to have files inside.
but when i check the folder on the pc via sdcard reader, there are files in the folder.
cant see them directly on the tablet, but when connected to pc i can see the files in exact same location.
My nexus 7 can not download any file.
Flashed SmoothRom V3.2 and stuck on the android screen, so restore to my old rom.
However, I can not download any file from web browser or dropbox anymore.
But I can download and install Apps from Play store without problem.
And files in file manager like been hold by some program, can not delete any file.
The SD partition look like been protect and only Google play can use it.
Tried to flash other roms, still can't fix.
Please help.
Thanks
